I really wish I had this when I picked up endwalker monk. Your explanation of the kit and its mechanics is flawless and really easy to understand. Especially masterful blitz took me a bit to figure out for myself. Some nitpicking to make sure my minmax brain can rest: Anatman goes in the same category as six-sided star. You can do really good damage without ever using those to but if you wanna squeeze out a tiny bit more mastering to use those two is the way to go. Especially since you can snapshot anatman and don't need to channel it to keep disciplined fist up. As long as you charge your chakras to 5 and get a formshift in you can use it whenever during downtime to keep your things up. I personally use it quite frequently :)
Just picked up monk again from 7 years ago and paid to lvl 90 as I might raid with it in DT, just want to say thank you for the explanation of the skills. Ita really helped me push my dps.
Monk main here! Learning the optimal windows to use Riddle of Fire will take some practice, but other than that it's all about keeping your Twin Snakes and Demolish effects up, remembering positionals, and using Phantom Rush during raid buff windows. It all sounds like a lot, but if it came to me with practice without watching any guides (except for exact buff weave timings - those I learned from videos like this!), I promise it'll come to you.
I’m really glad your guide went further into the entire loop rather than just discussing openers. After watching an intro guide, it took me a while to notice things weren’t lining up if I was using PB on cooldown, and this video helped me confirm my changes to things were on the right track. Keep up the good work!!
I'm glad the guide helped! But I do want to stress this guide is very outdated and Monk is about to change considerably in just over a week's time, so not everything displayed in this video is 100% accurate anymore!
Friendly reminder that Monk is the class that loses the least personal damage when using melee LB3 as they are very freestyle outside of their burst, simply press six sided Star and use LB3

Monk has always been my favourite class and my main class, but ever since they change I’ve really struggles to figure out how its supposed to be played and it lead me to become a healer main. But I realized its about time I actually watch a video about it, maybe I can finally love it again. So thank you for this video!
It actually didn't really change at all. They just moved the off global skills to the beast chakra. And beast chakra is a reward for doing your rotation right. The class is fundamentally the exact same.
I like how you went over all the skills and then gave an example of it being used in a practical setting. It really gave me an insight into how the job should perform in certain level syncs. Hope you do this for other classes as well. Btw what is that chest piece?
Yes I plan to do this with all jobs! That said I think I did Monk the most in depth, I wanted to try something new to make the video more visually informative and appealing, trying a cinematic approach to the skills along with examples. The chest piece is the moonward chest of striking, it can be bought with the uncapped tomestones at Radz-at-han
Yes! I really am enjoying Monk, that said I think I'm leaning more into Samurai, but it isn't max level yet, it just feels more my style? Idk, I still really like Monk though, it's really fun :D also enjoy your break! I've liked fighting games and martial arts as a kid, Mnk scratches the itch nicely. Atm I'm checking out other games and working on my backlog til Tiny Tina, Stranger of Paradise and maybe Xenoblade 3 releases. Then there's Lost Ark which i looked into but haven't tried yet. So many games so little time... I do miss FF14 tho, looking forward to patches and more QoL stuff
I picked up monk recently and got him till 88 now w/o really knowing all the stuff. This pretty much helps me since it makes so much fun to play monk and I want him to be my 2nd main DPS :)
i'm currently a sam main and might actually switch to nin or monk. (leaning towards monk more) it's so fun and even when u make mistakes it's not the end of the world .the only complicated part for me is the 2 minutes but overtime i will get used to it
Rotation mistakes only matter when you're racing for world first clears. No one is going to notice you missed an attack and it's RARELY ever going to matter.
small feedback: for me personally it is a bit distracting if the video player UI is over the hotbars i'm trying to follow. it's not super bad as it is half transparent, but still _harder_ to see. fixable by either using a different player like VLC, where you can freely move the UI part or do the BG footage via editing which is a lot more work ofc, so I'm not telling you to :P (in for another all nighter?! xD) also while the image at the top with the spells to press is very nice, it would be a bit clearer if oGCDs are smaller and adjacted to the GCDs. i know this is not possible with the site you were using, but maybe there are other ways for the future 👀
I can easily fix this! I took this approach because its a lot easier to edit but it only saves a little bit of time and if its distracting then Ill make sure to change this for future job guides. Appreciate the feedback as always Tancred!

guide was imaculate . shame im unable to wrap my mind around monk's ´playstyle. tried looking in the balance and learn the opener but was just confused and then now properly learning it i sort of get what it does but i just cant memorize the goddam rotation.
I cant figure out why Phantom Rush doesnt go into the 2min windows for Raidbuffs when we get 3 Perfect Balance per 2min, just as many as we need, but yet we come out to 2 Nadi at the second 2min Window, its only hitting the RoFs If we keep spending one stack of PB on RoF to get the PR in there and then spend the next 2 stacks on 2min again, PR will never go into 2min, doesnt it?

Can someone please help me? When I try to open with dragon kick > twin snakes > demolish, sometimes (seemingly randomly) it won’t let me do demolish and I instead have to do twin snakes multiple times until it lets me to demolish. Why is this?
@@AzuriteTV I asked on Reddit and found out it was because I was attacking a training dummy with a higher level than mine and didn’t know your attacks could miss lol. How do you miss a dummy?
@@Kizzainpleh Accuracy wasn't so much removed from the game as it became baked into the code. On-level you'll never miss, but enough levels above you? Yeah, you won't connect sometimes.

Do you actually use 1-9 or do you have other keybinds for those hotbar slots that aren't shown? I'm struggling so hard playing melee DPS, and I think part of the problem is my keybind choices are making it hard for me to intuitively do my rotation while focusing on mechanics...
I know. Admitely after making this guide I was made aware of the importance of both openers and rotations, that said there is some really good resources for these openers and rotations in the description
There are also some variants on those depending on the fights. Standard Lunar-Solar is a good basic openener though and everything after comes down to minmaxing
New player thinking to play FFXIV with a monk looking at this guide.. "What?" Other than that, I guess it all sinks in as you unlock an ability or 2 at a time in the next few hundred hours.
Definitely looks to be full on. But then again so does Ninja to some people and thats easy. Also 6000 hours of maining Ninja makes it easier. Monk may be my next main
sigh.... I don't understand how anymore can play these classes. Trying to remember what each skill does, what form it puts you into, was position you need to be in while at the same time trying to actually watch the boss is impossible :(
I’m convinced FFXIV is only for people with off the chart gaming skills. I’m just trying to be good at the game and do hard content but every class has WAY too much going on. I don’t want to rotate between 2-3 bars with a shit ton of moves that I have to hit in some crazy order. Too much to remember. So depressing

This is one of the worst offenders of needless button bloat of all classes... You shouldn't need 3 different keys for what is basically the same aoe move with 3 different names.... FFXIV still have a lot to learn. I think designing this game with the PS controller in mind is the cause of this

ok i need help from anyone to answer , I'm 47 monk but i don't seem to have all abilities to use in combat still? i somehow feel ive missed something went back to pug. trainer but i cant seem to learn more there .....? what is the obvious that i cant seem to find to add the other skills? i have the lvl 30 skills and a lvl 42 skill bt still missing the 35 & 40 skill?

Ninja is another good one to use lb3. Even if I pop trick attack everyone else still has a dps bonus. Plus a very very basic combo

I tend to save and use Riddle of Wind with Bloodbath when my HP is low. This will bring up my HP fast.
These, plus Riddle of Earth, make MNK surprisingly tanky at times.

Lunar-Solar isnt always the right opener. The opener depends on the kill time. SO you have to know both Openers: Solar-Solar and Lunar-Solar

It’s all about the keybinds and lots of practice. I have mine on 1-2-3 and just use modifier keys to switch through each form’s attacks :3

Try starting out with summoner. It's the easiest job by far to pick up/master and does respectable dps even if you don't optimize it :3
