Rick designed that drum kit himself after his accident where he lost his arm. The story is so inspiring. Amid severe depression and suicidal thoughts at the realization that he would never play drums again, he determined that he wasn't going to give up. He designed and had his own, one-of-a-kind drum kit built and went on to become one of the most iconic rock drummers of all time.
A true inspiration!!💜💜🤘🤘🤘🥁🥁🥁
And that drum set is AWESOME!!! 🥰🥰
Uses his one arm and his feet are used for his drum precutions plays barefoot to land precutions on pedals on floor
Joel Elliot also put in 1 million to get the drums custom made for Rick
I saw them in Germany at their first major concert after Rick came back after his accident.
Yes DEF LEPPARD, MOTLEY CRUE , POISON, JOAN JETT are planning on a stadium tour !
Oh Hell yes!!
Ooohhhh!! 😱😱😱
All good separately, surely great together.
O hecky yeah
I know where my daughter will be, then.
Not only this song, but their whole album “Hysteria” was huge.
The best album
Definitely! It is still on prime spot on my record collection!
Love that whole album
My dad use to blast this album in our home kitchen with his boombox. Thus begun my love for 80's rock
Not a bad song on it
Rick Allen, the drummer, lost his arm in a horrific car accident when he was 21. He had been with Def Leppard since he was 15. They DEFINITELY weren't gonna abandon him, even though so many people were telling them to get a new drummer. They stayed with him and waited for him to heal and re-teach himself how to play. He has a special kit in which his left pedal can emulate what his left arm could do. He still suffers PTSD from the accident to this day, and says drumming and painting is meditational healing for him. He's opened charities for wounded veterans and people who have had amputations.
Rick Allen’s story is great. The band stuck by him and he relearned to play. Never give up!
Truth!
He designed his own drum kit so he could still play
@@vincentdarrah And with one arm, he is better than many drummers with two of them!
It's great that he overcame his loss. I was working at Wendy's back when the news broke and I remember one of our co-workers breaking down and crying. A little over the top IMO, but apparently she was really into them so who am I to judge?
@@vincentdarrah Actually, I heard Joe Elliott designed the drum set for him. I think it's in the Def Leppard documentary I have. I was at the concert of the 1st tour they did after he lost his arm. He did and amazing drum solo in the middle of the entire show that I will never forget! Joe designed it so that what would be played with the missing arm is actually played by the foot that isn't playing the bass drum.
It's an electronic drum set. Part of how Rick Allen learned how to play again was doing all the stuff he would normally do with his left hand with his left foot, which can't be done well with a traditional acoustic drum set.
He helped design the kit as well
For the Hysteria tour 2018/19 he went back to a standard drum kit
If there's a will, there's a way! 👏👏👏
Additionally the electronic kit has a smaller footprint so he didn’t have to reach as far with his right hand. They were awesome live. Great showmanship. That was almost 40 years ago. If they are touring at all it would likely be sponsored by geritol.
I've been a grandma for 28 years and I still think it was so awesome to be there when the 80's music was happening. Never been such awesome music since then.
* NODS ! Yupz 😎
Your absolutely correct 👍
i do not care what anyone say the 80's was theeeeee best and will not be done again. everything about it was over the top
For the most part 1980s music was the last of the good music
In the 80s, this was sort of our boy band. They went much older then us.
The 1st time I saw Def Leppard was before Rick had his accident. Already a super fan, when we heard he was coming back with only 1 arm, me and all my friends went nuts when they went back on tour. Since they 1st came out I have seen them over 30 times in concert and what you hear in concert is the exact sound on the radio. In the early 90s I married a stunningly beautiful black woman. When I took her to her 1st Def Leppard concert and she fell in love with the whole band. I took her to see her last concert before she passed away from Leukemia. But she lost it when and for 13 years before her death she loved the whole band and we never missed a concert within 100 miles while she was alive.
You cant write the history of music/the80's without Def Leppard. .Just saying. Great reaction!!!
🤘🤘
Lead guitar in this video is the late Steve Clark.
Steve passed away in 1991 and his spot was later taken by Viv Campbell
Holy crap! I can't believe it's been 30 years!
He was awesome I love the album adrenalize
I’m a huge Def Leppard fan. I’ve seen them 26 times in concert, even went to Las Vegas for 2 weeks when they did a month residency. I have so much Def Leppard stuff I’ve collected since 1989.
I was 12 when Hysteria came out, it consumed my life from 87-88 lol
I saw them in concert once in Denver.. seeing that many times is dedication and would be so fun! I would love to go to a concert now!
This song is from the Album "HYSTERIA" in 1987. I know that because my dad purchased the Record and the CD 35+ yrs ago. Def Leppard is a hell-of-a-lot better than any Hip Hop group and the music now-a-days. There's just no comparison.
I'm from Sheffield- - beat that!
@@dopiaza2006 Didn’t realize it was a competition!
Def Leppard IS still touring, so you are in luck there. Steve Clark has sadly passed and Vivian Campbell took his place. Their first 3 albums were a bit harder and heavier than Hysteria. Those are my favorite era of Def Leppard
Mine too! Loved pyro!
Saw them in Moscow back in like 2003.
Do you know if their going to be in Ohio?? Lisa
The story is that the first concert that Rick Allen played after the accident, they set up with an 'extra' drummer. After the 2nd song the drummer said "you obviously don't need me" and left Rick Allen on his own.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👌
This is the reason you'll never catch me dissing Def Leppard, they stuck by their pal when times were roughest for him, that says something about the other members.
@@goldenagenut 💯‼💯‼
Close enough to the true story. It was actually the drummer from status quo and he played along side rick for a full show the next show he was late and snuck onto his kit joe himself said he really couldn't tell that that it was only rick for the first part of the show. Then the stand in drummer Said well rick I think your on your own I will now return to the Quo. The full story is on the DVD classic albums Hysteria and its joe himself telling the story
The extra drummer missed his flight so Rick had to play
I've seen Def Leppard 3 times in the last 5 years. They still tour! At the end of each show, they promise to keep playing as long as their fans want to keep coming to shows! The best time ever!
About 10 years ago, I won a "meet & greet" with Rick Allen & Joe Elliot, pre concert. I took my (then) 17 year old daughter with me and they were not only super, super nice, but they were thrilled that my 17 year old knew their music and thanked me for 'raising her right' lol One of the coolest days of my life ✌♥
Did Love Bites turn the crowd into a near orgy?
I mean, I've been to 2 and it took only 15 seconds into it for everyone around me to start making out with someone and a lot more in many cases.
It was like a trance that made people melt all over each other.
I also need to shout out Def Leppard as my favorite rock band. The day my mom had a stroke and was a vegetable I considered going to the concert first. after waking up a bit I decided to give my ticket away, but I think my love of this band is proved. SUGAR ME.
I love that the band stayed with Rick as well, it shows how much they respected him, they could have just replaced him easily I'm sure but they thought enough of him to want to wait until he was ready to go back on the road with them. I read somewhere that he redesigned his drum setup himself from his hospital bed after his accident so that it would be more customized to fit what his new needs were going to be so that he'd be able to learn how to play the drums all over again basically. It's so impressive that he was able to re-learn everything that he'd learned already and had been doing for years, he had to learn all over again with just one arm but not only was he able to do it but he was able to do it so quickly too. He's really an inspiration for people who have disabilities, don't ever give up what you love just because your circumstances change, you can really do anything that you set your mind to if you are willing to put in the effort for it.
Yes. I saw an interview where they told the story: they went to see him, he assumed he was done, and they asked "so how soon can you return?"...so sweet. They said there was never any question of his still being their drummer.
My husband’s name was Rick Allen and he was a huge Def Lepard fan and was so happy when they showed their true friendship and humanity by sticking by their drummer, Rick Allen.
I've seen them live twice. Both times were after Rick lost his arm. He's always so happy while playing!
Same here. Both times in Denver. Hysteria tour. Excellent band live!
I saw them on the Hysteria tour in Toronto. What an incredible show! At one point Joe said "I want to introduce this guy sitting behind me" and the crowd lost their minds!
I saw them in Tampa about 3 years ago. You are so right! He got a standing ovation that night! Made me tear up! RIP Steve Clark!
Seeing you guys rock out and openly enjoy my generations 80's music causes me to feel so much joy. I smile sheepishly each and every time. You guys are experiencing, IMHO, the greatest decade of music ever that will stand the test of time and never go out
This song was played as the hype up song for EVERY mixer in high-school 😂 Will always have fun memories about this song
“Bringing on the heart break” is a great early song from them.
Love that song 💜You can't go wrong with any Def Leppard song...they are that good💗
The harmonies and catchy songs is what I love💜
Yes! Bringing on the Heartbreak is one of my favorites of theirs, but yeah, u can't go wrong with any of their stuff! Love them so much! Saw them in, I think 87 or 88 in Portland Oregon! So good!🤘❤
One of my favorites by them.
There was a time where this video was number one on the daily MTV video countdown for almost a solid year 1988 1989 you cannot imagine how huge Def Leppard was I’ve always been a fan and still M since long before that.
Ahhhh, when MTV still played music.......
Heck yeah. Remembering being 17 again! Lol
Thats a bit of an exagerstion
The show had several different hosts. The best known one in the US was Adam Curry, who was also a VJ on MTV's Headbangers Ball from 1987-1989. On MTV Europe the show was hosted by Rebecca de Ruvo. The video to be #1 longest was "Pour Some Sugar on Me" by Def Leppard. It was #1 on the show from May 26-September 5, 1988, a total of 73 days.
I was kid then...watched mtv every day to make sure it was number 1...still love this song
They ARE still touring and with Journey! Two of the greatest 80's bands in one show!
80s rock/metal is the best music ever! It was a decade of awesomeness.
I found my old cassettes today and my Def Leppard - Hysteria tape was there. It has tape holding it together!
I remember having to tape up some of my old tapes.
@@jamesgalimo1007 Most readers won't have a clue what you guys are talking about....but I do!
mine eventually got eaten by the cassette player so many times it wouldnt play anymore
The sadness when even a pencil couldn't save the tape, so you just savagely yanked out all of the tape before you threw it away in disgust!
@@mj95b so true….
Hysteria is a kick ass album. I remember in high school when it came out. Rick 'The Thunder God's learned to play with his left arm and his feet, so the drum kit is electric.
Right arm. He lost his left arm.
Yes it is! Along with Pyromania
Were you like me anytime they had a new video, I would wait all day and have MTV on for that premiere?
What I heard was the band got together with some drum kit designers and built the prototype of a foot powered drum kit. It literally brought Rick back from the brink.
Once he figured out the whole thing, together with the company he designed three more kits. And those are always with them on tour. Depending on what he believes the concert needs he pulls out Mark 1, 2 or 3.
Joe Elliott once said, 'without the drums were nothing. With the drums...we're Def Leppard!'
They loved singing this song, you can really see it in their performance.
Next year, they’re doing a stadium tour with Motley Crue, Poison and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. Go get some!
I have my stadium Tour tickets.. seen Def leppard 5 times, they are tatooed on my back, and seen Motley crue 6 times, Joan Jett was my first concert in 1986. and never seen Poison. Cant Wait...
@@georgiahouston8163 YES GEORGIA! 🤘
Holy shit! I gotta start saving money for plane and concert tickets. That is the most awesome card ever.
@Johnny Kerr Vince Neil just needs too get it together.. Lets hope...
@@georgiahouston8163 That is going tp be a great concert to watch. Hoping to be back in US by then.
I've seen them 10 times and met the current member lineup multiple times...except Joe who I've only met once. FYI, they are all amazing guys. No jerks among them.
Multiple meetings how? Are u a reporter? thx for the info
That’s awesome
@@atomicpunk520 Not a reporter, just very lucky to meet them after concerts around the busses and hotels.
Exactly. Unlike about 80% of the hair band members during the mid to late 80’s and early 90’s, who were all jerks
This band is a rock God. I mean Rick is a genius the guy lost his arm and than designed his own drum set. Legend! 80s rock!!
So this song, made everyone stand up and listen to Def Leppard and Hysteria. They had faded out of mainstream. Aged out of more modern music. When Pour Some Sugar on Me, came out and just blew up on the radio.
You have got to listen to some early Def Leppard like "Bringing on the Heartbreak," "Let It Go," and "High and Dry" from 1981. That's my favorite period of theirs.
Bringing on the heartache 💔 that's smooth
Hello America is a favourite
High N Dry is the best album Def Leppard ever made second is Pyraminia and Third is Hysteria.
Bringin on the Heartbreak is my favorite!
@@josephgrant1383 Den låten är bra 👍
"Women", "Love Bites", and "Bringing On The Heartbreak" are my JAMZ!!!!
Women is awesome, and Gods of War
Def Leppard had one of the best "in the round type concerts" ever !! There's a curtain all the way around the stage and when they are about to go on...you hear Dirty Harry...Do ya feel lucky..well do ya punk...and the curtain drops. So cool and great memories.
February 13 1988 micnicholes arena Denver,I was there for the video shot, live in the round.⚡️⚡️⚡️🍁
I saw Def Leppard on this "Hysteria" tour in 1987!!! It was sensational!!!
You can’t go wrong with DeF LEPPARD, From TOO LATE, ME AND MY WINE, ROCK OF AGES ! To many more!
YES.....They gotta bring us some PYROMANIA!!!!
@@SIXX2772 Sweet choice,,,and Rock of Ages!

Yes. Zombie. Do it!.
Bad Wolves do an excellent cover of this song.
Yes!!! Zombie is a MUST for Female Friday!!!
Had to watch this one again! I remember when this song aired on MTv...being in high-school and everyone wanted those jeans. I bought new jeans...tore them..cut them...washed them over and over...cut them..ripped them and washed them many, many times. They were PERFECT!! Then, my mom did the laundry...she tossed them in the trash. I was so mad! Lol. She thought that people would think we were poor. Ummm...we were...but the jeans were cool. Flash forward 30 yrs later...moved back home to take care of folks. Had my favorite jeans...mom found them in the dryer while I was working. She took it upon herself to "fix" them. I put them on and noticed patches on the knee...balled up thread on the pockets. Grrrrrrr.....lol.
I have seen Def Leppard twice in concert, they are amazing.
Any one who heard this song while they were alive in the 80's will just rock to it. I was maybe 16 years old when this song released. Heard it all that summer. Glad younger generation are discovering this song.
I was 14 that summer and remember it well too. This song brings back so many memories.
@@skinnybuddha74 so true
The night I turned 17 I saw Def Leppard in concert from this tour.
Love me some DL.
Rock on , Rock hard
Yes they still tour. I’ve seen them twice in Vegas over the last few years. Best concert band I’ve ever seen.
~* I was at this concert...Tacoma dome.. my sis surprised me ...gave me a birthday card..said she couldnt get me anything...opened it up and was 2 concert tickets to Def leppard...we lived 2 miles from Tacoma Dome...we walked down...best concert everrrrrr....lovedddddd it!!!!*~
Well, you just got the Pop Rocks of this group, so this was not at all surprising. Please add "Photograph", "Armageddon It", "Rocket" and "Animal" to your list. They are BANGERS.
Animal is my favourite 😍
Need to listen to some Styx
"Renegade" is probably the best song to start with.
Sweet Madam Blue
"Blue Collar Man"
"Rocking the Paradise"
Yes, definitely listen to “Renegade” and “Blue Collar Man”
Yes!!! Pkeeeeaaaaaase react to Styx! They are one of my favorites had all their albums know all the words!😁🙏
Yes! Styx is a must! Lorelie such a great tune
Original line-up was Joe Elliot (Vocals), Rick Savage (Bass), Steve Clark (Guitars), Phil Collin (Guitars) and Rick Allen (Drums). Rick Allen lost an arm in an auto accident in 1984 and Steve Clark passed away from alcohol poisoning in 1991. Steve Clark was eventually replaced with Vivian Campbell (Whitesnake/Dio) and Rick Allen had Yamaha custom build his drumkit using special cabling that allows him to play left hand strikes with his left foot.
Jay you need to see Def Leppard in concert! Even now they still Rock It!
I was a teenager when this song came. You can imagine how my hormones went bananas over this band. 😊😍 This is one of my favorites of all time. Thanks for putting it on. ❤️
Jay - This song has been played at stadiums during games, so that is probably where you've heard it. It was also in a commercial at one time.
Let's not forget EVERY strip club in the world.
@@donnewton415 I came here to say exactly that 🤣
And sooo many movies!
Don and Trash- Yep! Except I was thinking, ‘Oh, you know where you heard it…”😉
@@donnewton415 this song and ac/dc cover you in oil.
I saw Def Leppard at the Buckeye Lake Music Center in THornville Ohio in 1989 on this very tour; it rained during the concert; it was a grassy field...until it turned into a mud pit. it was the most insane concert I've ever seen; Axl rose walked off the stage halfway through GnR's set. Def leppard was awesome.
Brilliant band, their music is fantastic.
Hysteria and Foolin’ are two more bangers from Def Leppard. Love your reaction to Pour Some Sugar and thanks for appreciating the 80s!!! Unbelievable decade of music!!
Fun fact too; This was their first album/single after coming back from Rick's accident. It was a smash hit, and made them far more popular than they ever were before. So in a way, Rick's loss was actually a gain for not only himself, but for the entire band also. One of my favs from them are "Have you ever needed someone so bad".
"Women" was their first single after the loss of Rick's arm
I remember when the accident happened. Tragic! I read an article at the time saying that Rick immediately started working on how to redesign his drum kit so he could continue to play in the band even before he left the hospital. Amazing! Yes they still tour. They are coming to Dallas with Motley Crue pretty soon.
Def Leppard as it is now. Has been together since 1991…. One guitarist was replaced. One died Had to be replaced. Great band!! Good people
This album is 34 years old and still sounds as fresh today as it did then. Took me right back to my senior year in high school
Metal from the 70's and 80's tends to do that. It ages extremely well to the point that most of it sounds like it could've been written and performed yesterday rather than decades ago.
He's playing electronic drums. Each pad is programmed to transmit a specific🥁 sound when struck.
I saw this tour back in '88 in Las Vegas. It was my first large scale concert and was unreal! 🔥🤘🏽🔥🤘🏽
Yes, Def Leppard is still putting out new music and touring.😍🤩
My introduction, and favorite album from them is, Pyromania. You need to hear, Rock of Ages!
Rock of Ages is my favorite song by them.
I lived through the 80s. Def Leppard is my favorite band of all time. Yes they are still touring Go to their High & Dry album and listen to Mirror Mirror. Incredible song
Rick Allen is not only a extraordinary drummer, he is perhaps a study in man joining prosthesis to overcome a handicap. I haven't read heard anything about this so I am just suppositioning, but I am willing to stake what reputation I have that during his recovery and recuperation time, Rick Allen literally sat down and designed a drum set that was quite literally a prosthetic for a one-armed drummer. There has never been anyone who has ever worked at this subject with such fervor. Rick Allen needs to be commended for a lot more than just his drumming prowess. He gave hope to a lot of handicapped people who are still very knowledgeable and capable at their chosen instrument. Be that instrument as what it is. Thank you Rick you gave the world way more than you could ever possibly imagine
My fave from Def Leppard is "Bringing On The Heartache". Check it out, you won't be sorry :)
Def Leppard is my favorite group EVER... I think you guys would LOVE Rocket, as well as Let's get rocked, have you ever needed someone so bad, making love like a man, To late for love, I could go on... =D They still tour, well they did before the pandemic came along.
I play drums and this song is pretty difficult with two arms! I think that he's able to do a lot more complex rhythms using his feet.
Definitely DefLeppard is still touring & they put on an Awesome show!
They absolutely still tour. I've seen them 3 times. They're still a killer man to see live even though they're a lot older now. They've held up remarkably well. And if you were a big fan of theirs back in the day, you would get to see a concert where every single song you heard for 2 hours was a song you knew. This album and the one before it were the biggest selling rock albums of all time when they were released. This album is considered their masterpiece. If you want to have some fun, listen to the whole album. There isn't any bad songs. Something that a lot of today's artists can't even sniff.
The obvious love you guys have for each other is just beautiful. I loved how at the beginning, Amber got so excited about how happy Jordan was going to be about this song, since she knew it already. Gosh, I love you guys so much.
Def Leppard in concert is still an AMAZING show!!! So many great songs, such good performers
My favorite Def Leppard songs , Bringing on the heartbreak, and Follin.
Favorite band of all time. Had the privilege of meeting Rick Allen just a few weeks ago at an art show in Florida. Genuinely delightful and humble man.
This is one 80's band that still kicks a$$ live. Yes-- they still play rock festivals. I actually seen a pit open up during this song at Welcome to Rockville, a few years ago.
They absolutely still tour!! They have done two residencies in Vegas and are doing a HUGE stadium tour with Motley Crue, Poison, and Joan Jett in 2022 (rescheduled from 2020). They are playing in Dallas on Aug 22, 2022.
Fun Fact, Joe Elliot was the first singer to sing with Queen at the Freddie mercury Memoria; Concert. Def Leppard was close friends with Queen, Especially Joe and Brian. Joe was the first friend to call Brian after Freddie died.
This song was huge when it dropped. I was in 7th grade. I now feel old. Haha.
Love this one. Def Leppard is my favorite band. And 40 years later they are still together and touring!
Being a DEF LEPPARD fan, you have to see the movie that was made scanning their career and how they got their start in music. It also shows the accident of Rick Allen. When he lost his arm, he designed a drum kit, where he uses his feet, to make the music his left hand once made. Check it out.
One of the greatest rock songs ever!
I am a child of the 80's and I was a total "Def Leopard head". Now that the world has moved on from CD's I still own one and it stays in my truck at all times. It is the Hysteria Album. I went to their show just a couple years ago when they were touring with Journey. Sold out arena and we had 5th row seats. It was AMAZING!!!!!! If you can go you should. You should all check out their earlier stuff. Rock of Ages and Photograph are two of my all time favorites.
I'm still advocating for Def Leppard's 90s hit, 'Let's Get Rocked.' It's so much fun! 💙 & 🤘🏻 from Texas!
Misty...Great song!❤💯‼
I SEEN THEM IN CONCERT ON THIS VERY TOUR .....TESLA OPENED FOR THEM, ANOTHER GREAT BAND UNDER YALLS RADAR SO FAR
Took my oldest daughter to see Fef Leppard and Poison 3 years ago for her 21st birthday. The following year her and I went back to see them with Journey and we brought my son ( 8 at the time) and daughter ( 11 at the time) . Their first concert. Since then I've taken them to see KISS and most recently Guns n Roses this past Sunday.
yes, they will be playing in a tour next year. it has been delayed because of COVID twice, but they are still doing it. Def Leppard, Poison, Motley Crue and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. A MUST SEE, you will love it!
As a drummer, Rick Allen was a huge inspiration to me. He showed me that overcoming physical injuries and being able to hold onto the passion for the dreams and life goals I wanted was always an option.
The Hysteria tour was an amazing time! Being in the round like that was a vibe I haven’t truly gotten with any other concert. R.I.P Steaming Steve Clark.. you are so missed! Oh and to answer your question yes they are still touring and pump amazing records out! Cheers!!
I do believe that Def Leppard is back on tour this year ‼️🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
agree with him .. their sound & vibe carries thru most of their songs... Def Leopard for me belongs in my TOP 5 all time bands (for me).
YESSSSS I love this song!!! I've actually had it stuck in my head all day😂. Armageddon It, Gods of War, Photograph, Hysteria, Animal, Have you ever needed someone so bad and Rocket are more great Def Leppard songs but this might be my personal favorite one.
Hey for the next female Friday, please listen to one of the greatest voices ever from the 70's and 80's Linda Ronstandt. One of her best songs, and she has many, is "Your No Good". You will not be disappointed.
She's the epitome of underrated! Fantastic suggestion!
I was at the concert where this video was filmed. It was at McNichols Arena in Denver. They played the whole show then announced they would be shooting a video after a short break to set up. They came out and played the song again just for the video. Seemed like they had cameras going everywhere. Great memory.
Def Leppard definitely still tour, and still record albums. They are currently not touring due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. They are scheduled to return on tour in 2022, according to Wikipedia.
You can’t go wrong with DEF LEPPARD, FRom ME AND MY WINE to TO LATE to PyROMANIA
In early 80's a lot of pop acts started using the Simmons Electric drums that Rick Allen is playing
Symons pads are iconic and still sound epic
Def Leppard was straight 🔥 back in the day ! Hellz yeah !
One of Def Leppard's lesser known songs Animal is a great song too. It was my brother's favorite song by them before he passed away in 1987. So I usually don't make it thru the song without crying but it's a good memory & will always be a part of me
Def Leopard is incredible. I would know the singer's voice ANYWHERE..and the drummer is the King of beat as far as I am concerned.
YES! So glad you are watching this with an awareness of how incredibly awesome The Arm story really is. Def Leppard was at THE TOP of their game when Rick Allen had his accident; they could have replaced him so easily -- and you know they were getting pressured by Money Heads around them to get a new drummer and get back on the road. The fact that they didn't is part of what makes them so great.
True story: This video was the MTv comeback for Def Leppard after the accident. I was in college when it came out, living in a big house with 5 other roommates, and we did NOT agree on music. (An R&B fan, a metal head, a rapper, a Rasta, a Rockabilly freak, and me, the EMO Chick.). The video came on, and Rap Fan yelled for all of us to come watch on the one TV in the house (that we usually fought over). We all watched, and were SCREAMING by the end, it was just that powerful to see that Rick Allen was "back" and Def Leppard was still "them." For that one moment, we ALL loved Def Leppard. Then, we looked at each other in awkward silence, Rap Fan changed the channel, and the rest of us went back to our cold, dark rooms.
On June 18th 2022 at the Hard Rock Stadium where the Dolphins play, all 4 of these artist Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett. They are doing Stadium concerts. Right there are 4 Bands in one night that you love. Yes, they also bring out guest artist to join them on stage.
"Dial MTV" used to be a show on MTV where viewers would dial in to vote for their favorite video. Pour Some Sugar on Me held the record for most consecutive days at #1 which went on for almost 3 months.
Oh yes, they still tour! I've seen them twice and would love to see them another 20 times! They rock! Joe still sounds great. They are still just a electric and an awesome concert. Doooo it!
They are still touring and I really want to go to a show of theirs next year with Motley Crue, Poison and Joan Jett😁. Just listen to the entire Pyromania and Hysteria albums, all great songs.
I always giggle when guys recognize this song "from somewhere" - "dance" clubs with silver vertical poles ceiling to floor, perhaps? This is one of the most popular dance songs in gentlemen's clubs. Wheeee!
You guys rock..Def Leppard is the only thing I listen to in my car growing up in the eighties...
