love the story about when they brought in a drummer to fill in for allen since they werent sure he could still play but after he got the machine for his other arm his fill in shook everyone's hand and left
Your so cute, everything is on fuu house, it's not, at least not til song, can you imagine these lyrics on a wholesome show like lol, I love this song, I saw them this month, the stadium was sold out and they were phenomenal!
Yep! Heard this back in late 87 or early 88....i was 13 then . whole album reminds me of that era so much. Miss the 80s! I always liked armeggodon it better though.
Swaped my DFLEP collection for a Metallica collection! ....looked back ocasanally, but M , catapulted me into OVERKILL....under the influence!!.....HELLO! FROM the GUTTER!!!!!!
Lexxi, you are spot on. I'm 53 years old, and I get the same goose bumps on my arms today as I did in 1987 when I hear PSSOM. I thoroughly enjoyed watching you hear it for the first time. It is an awesome tune from an even more awesome moment in time.
Lex, you're 100% correct - those who lived through the 80s and experienced the music of that time as it was being made will always have that as a big part of their lives - there will always be something extra special about those years in particular
It's weird bc I was born in the late 80's and my dad always played this music. I always have a sense of nostalgia whenever I hear any of these songs... Even when I first listened to the songs when I was a kid... It just has a nostalgic vibe to it.
I was going to say the same thing - Lex what you're saying is so true. I graduated high school in 1983. And this album of Def Leppard "Hysteria" was great music. It came out in 1987. This video maybe in '88. It was their 5th or 6th single from that album and it shot album sales through the roof. But I am getting off point. I just turned 57 this month. I was 23 and 24 in '87 &'88. I was at one of these concerts. It was called "Theater in the Round" because the stage was set up in the middle of the arena. Like where a NBA basketball game is played. Usually the stage would be at one end. This time they put it in the middle. It was crazy. This video is of them setting up and in concert. I loved this time. Nearly all the 80's. "I see them perpetually young." Inside we are Lex! And Def Leppard stills plays concerts. We all look older but we feel young. Especially when we listen to this music. "It stays with you. It feels like that era lives within many people that we come across everyday." Lex you said it! And I knew exactly what you meant because for me and I know a lot of my friends understand exactly what you're saying. It is a part of me, of many of us that lived and loved in that era! It's like an old girlfriend. She will always have a piece in my heart. Only bigger. I don't dress that way anymore. I don't have very long hair anymore. But in my heart and being, that time, that era as you called it does live within me. I still listen to Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Journey, Aerosmith, Van Halen, AC/DC, Eagles, Triumph, REO Speedwagon, Guns N' Roses, and many more. It was a great time and I don't think it will ever be repeated. And I don't mind because it still lives within me!
Was on an official government trip to Tacoma, WA and Def Leppard was staying in our hotel while on this tour. I ended up on the elevator with Joe Elliot and Phil Collen, we had some small talk, and they ended up giving us back stage passes to their concert that night at the Tacoma Dome. They were awesome, and the most down to earth "rock stars" you could ever meet. Cheers!
Lex DEFINITELY gets it!! Def Leppard's music is as relevant today as it was back in the 80s! The fact that they're still selling out their concerts with generations half their age is a testament to how timeless their music truly is!!
Spot on Lex! The 80s were my teens and I'm grateful for it to this day. It's not just nostalgia, it's a thing. So say my Zebra-patterned jeans anyway. Yeah baby
When you mentioned it's a vibe that sticks with you, definitely. I'm 42 and I still jam to my 80s rock, including Def Leppard all the time. My kids even listen to my music and love it. I to this day prefer rock from the 80s over any other era, with the 70s rock in a close second place.
Oh god it was SO much fun going to concerts in the 80s and 90s and YES, it does stay with you especially when you watch a video or concert video again!!!! And Def Leppard were one of the bear bands to watch live!!!! Please check out Photograph from them!!!
Their producer, Mutt Lang, was relentless in his pursuit of musical perfection. It’s said that was looking to beat Michael Jackson’s record of having five singles on one album.
I’ve seen Def Leppard 4 times throughout their 80’s-2022 career. I’m in my 50’s now but wish I could go back to the 80’s and freeze time. 80’s will forever be the best era ever!!🥰🎵
I was born in 79, so the 80's are my childhood, with a large wack of 70's in there, the 90's where my teens.... I grew up with with some of the most iconic music.
I am perpetually an early teenager whenever I hear Def Leppard. These days I refer to this type of hair band as mostly "arena rock" Bon Jovi is another good example. Maybe even Poison.
This is the 80’s❤️ I am 54 and I still feel like I am in my 20’s lol! I saw Def Leppard in concert in 1983. I was 16 and it was my first concert ❤️. It was the Pyromania tour and it was amazing!!❤️
I was born in 1962. I can definitely say that the 80's was my best decade. The music was awesome and full of talented people. This was when MTV (Muchmusic up here in Canada) actually played music videos. I love how different your reactions usually are.
Lex, that is very perceptive. Yes, as you get older that feeling of the music you grew up to never leaves and it is a part of you. And when you hear it, it brings out that emotion you once had. It never goes away. And that's a good thing.
This is, by far, the best reaction channel! Thank you so much. You are both angels in my eyes, and Lex.. this is exactly how I feel 34 years down the line! Love to both of you ❤
For this concert tour, they had a special stage built, called In the Round. It was made to be put in the middle of a coliseum, so they had the whole crowd surrounding them. Lex is right, I'm 50 years old, so I look back at the 80's with a lot of fondness. My life wasn't so great, but pop culture? Awesome.
The boys from Sheffield can really rock! Def Leppard was my favorite band in 1983 when Pyromania came out. Saw them in concert then and have loved them ever since.
I turned 20 in 1980, and Lex you describe it so spot-on. The best part of watching your reactions is going back and feeling that youth again. We had great music, clothes, and friendships that required being face to face. You're descriptions of how it makes you feel needs not be explained to me because you're perfectly describing how as a 61 year old from that time period, feels inside, reliving these moments.
Totally agree with LEx... the era remains with the person for ever.. like all of us who grew up in 70s and 80s.. Rock will always remain in us forever.
Def Leppard was (still is) one of my all-time fav bands! You should definitely check out the rest of their music. (Lots of rock, but some great ballads, too, like Love Bites.) I still remember when this song was brand new. And yes, Lex, it's an Era. That vibe is always in our hearts and our minds. Thanks for the reaction!
That feeling that lex talks about. About being there in that era and remembering all those feelings and emotions of that point in time. Its true. You do remember how it all felt and what it meant way back then. That is why this music will never die.
Lex is on it! I feel like that was back when things were more original and so it was who they were. Not so much anymore and this around before me. They are just as good in concert though, even 20 years after this!!
Lex is so spot on when she talks about us being frozen in time like that. It does feel like it was just yesterday. The experience of seeing a live show at an arena or stadium in the 70's or 80's was just phenomenal.
You're right about the vibe from that era continuing to today. As a person from that era,, we feel the same way we did back then. We're truly forever young...
Saw them on this tour (‘88) and they KILLED! “I feel like that moment in time was forever…” Oh, Lex…. it is when I listen to this…. but, depending on how things in our lives have gone, these past moments bring joy, mixed with a deep sadness…. because those were the best days of our lives and so many heartaches/breaks/mistakes lay ahead. Treasure your youth….❤️
Def Leppard killed it with 1983s Pyromania album. Then, in 1984 their drummer Rick Allen lost his arm in a car accident. The long awaited follow-up album Hysteria came in summer 1987, with a one armed drummer, Rick Allen. Not just any follow up album, an incredible sonic feet Rock anthem extravaganza spawning 7 hit singles!!! With two arms Rick Allen was the quintessential, top shelf, Heavy metal, Rock drummer. The fact Def Leppard returned with Allen, delivering such a musically adapted successful album with Hysteria in 87 is still a mind-boggling achievement. Seven hits off one album ???? That’s like trapping lightning in a bottle seven times. All this with a modified/adapted drum set to keep Allen in the recording studio and perform with the band. What?! Yea.
Lex is correct, I was out clubbing in the 80's, I met my wife in 89 and when we hear this music we are transported right back to the first time we heard these songs. it's like for an instant we haven't age a minute. The energy in 80's music was awesome
this song tripped me the F out when I first heard it, when he says 'radar phone' I could've sworn he said 'red iPhone' and I was like .... wait... this song was written in the 80s .... MIND BLOWN!
I've never cared what people say about this band, and I've heard a lot, but what other band out there puts thier entire careers on hold when the drummer loses an arm and they wait until he not only figures out how to play again but still SLAYS it!! RESPECT
Major respect and props for the drummer, Rick Allen. After losing his arm he went through intense rehab and continued to tour and perform with the band.
...I kinda think they were a cut above "80s Hair Bands".The Brits have always been good at music. When I think "Hair Bands ", I think Los Angeles metal acts....IMO
@@mikeystarr775 .. I can agree with that. They seem a cut above a “Hair Band”… Would you call VH a “ Hair Band”? ..Poison?…they are from PA.I think Motley Crue, Ratt, Britney Fox, Kix,…you kinda know them when you see them… 80s cheese Metal…I loved it back in the day, but there is not much I still listen to. I guess all metal / rock acts in the 80s had long hair, but that does not mean they are a “Hair Band”
I was at this band’s concert in 1986 or so, in Seattle, WA. I was 16. The Pyromania tour. The girls were INSANE in love with the singer Joe Elliot. The drummer had both arms in the beginning. He lost one and the band waited for his recovery. They are extremely talented and have many hits. Love your channel. Keep up the good work. 💜💞💜
After loosing his arm in a car accident, Rick Allen created an electronic pedal system for his drum set, the majority of his drumming is done with his feet
Lex your right. I was born in 76 and 80s was my childhood and teen years and every 80s kid whether you were born in 80s or 70s you have this vibe in your heart. 80s is like a 50s malt shop mixed with 70s disco balls and rock n roll. It was a unique time where things were more fun and free but also creative.
This was 1988 Joe Elliot the lead singer and Brian from Queen are Best Friends. This was the first tour after the drummer Rick Allen last his left arm in a car crash, left arm was severed off. This happened in 1984 and they gave him time to rehab and he built a new drum kit, Queen was starting to use electric drum pads. The live video of this song, it’s call in the round and in your. Amazing It’s a round stage and the drummer is on his own round and he spins. I seen this tour and it was probably the best concert I ever went too Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/sZXiP_pFWa8/v-deo.html
color me jealous. It's one of the few concerts I missed out on looking back that I wish I would have been able to go to. I was still in high school, and my mother was pretty restrictive on those things. My first concert (that wasn't a family event) wasn't until 1991 and by that time I had missed the 80s hair bands that shaped my high school years.
Def Leppard is my older brother's favorite band. I remember being in elementary school back in the mid-to-late 80's, and he'd come pick me up after he got off from high school or college and we'd drive home in his old blue Chevrolet and he'd blast Def Leppard and I'd think there couldn't possibly be anything cooler. A few years later he took me and my cousin to see them live, which was my first big name band concert ever. I'll never forget that I managed to get to the very front of the crowd when they were taking their final bow and Rick Allen returned my thumbs up with his remaining hand. Good times.
Even when it's a song I don't care for, it's still fun to see Lex get into it. 😊 This is definitely what's referred to as a hair band. It's a pop/rock sound.
Saw an interview with Rick Allen(The Drummer) a few years ago & he said the Band never once asked him if he was coming back or what where they going to do. That the Band, fam, & fan's helped in going. And they waited for 2 yrs until he got well & learned how to play with one arm. Which says soooo much about them. Most bands at the top of their career would have found a new drummer & kept going. So much respect for the men in this band. Also Rick Allen is one of best artist I've ever seen. Look up his paintings. They will blow you away.
Please be the first couple to do Jackson Browne's Stay/Load Out song. This was a live version on his 1978 "Running on Empty" album that was amazing and deserves the credibility to be right up there with other greats like McCartney's - Maybe I'm Amazed, Bob Seger's - Turn the Page, and Don McLean's - American Pie.
They did things the reverse way around. They're and english band but were massive in the US and Canada yet relatively unknown over here. A few years ago they toured with Motley Crue, in the US Motley Crue headlined but in the UK they switched and Motley Crue (my favourite band btw) supported Def Leppard. In the mid to late 80's these two bands were the biggest bands in America!
In 1983 we would drive the backroads of our small town and drink beer while blasting Def Leppard! The drummer has one arm and doesn't miss a beat! Rock of Ages, Pyromania, Hysteria all great songs 🎵
Those songs are great but they are not even the best of Def Leppard. In my opinion their best album is High N Dry. Every song on that album is a banger
You know it's 80's when you see the long hair!! She's right, this music was my teen era & one we will never let go of! It was such a big part of our most important memories! We can listen to any of them & it will bring back a memory or two!! Love it!!
You're right. The era stays with you and lives within you. I was in high school when this song came out. We used to jam to Def Leppard all the time. Right out of high school, hanging with your friends, cruising somewhere or nowhere at all, just "shooting the loop" (riding a loop around the center of town, where all of the kids parked and hung out). Yep, the 80's were an amazing time to be alive. I'm sad that the kids of today don't have those same experiences.
I love how Def Leppard never gave up on their drummer after he lost his arm
That's right. Loyalty to the band!

You're right about the vibe from that era continuing to today. As a person from that era,, we feel the same way we did back then. We're truly forever young...
Saw them on this tour (‘88) and they KILLED!
“I feel like that moment in time was forever…”
Oh, Lex…. it is when I listen to this…. but, depending on how things in our lives have gone, these past moments bring joy, mixed with a deep sadness…. because those were the best days of our lives and so many heartaches/breaks/mistakes lay ahead.
Treasure your youth….❤️
Def Leppard is my still one of my favorite bands today. My dad used to play their music when him and I would head up north to go fishing together.
I wore this album out in high school. I saw them 3 times on this tour. Love Def Leppard!!
This is just one of those songs that will light up an entire stadium. As they did whenever they performed it
80’s hair band, I listened to them all though my high school days
Nope. Not a hair band. They weren’t from Los Angeles or the 80s. They’re from the 70s England.
What?! Yea.
This ABSOLUTELY was an era. For teens in the 80’s, they were SO good. Still good!
Saw them six days ago in Denver. Whole stadium sang along with this just like it was 35 years ago. Can't wait to see them again.
MIND BLOWN!
Hey Lex and Brad,
Def Leppard: Rocket 👊🏽❤
I've never cared what people say about this band, and I've heard a lot, but what other band out there puts thier entire careers on hold when the drummer loses an arm and they wait until he not only figures out how to play again but still SLAYS it!! RESPECT
Love the energy they bring to the crowd!
Major respect and props for the drummer, Rick Allen. After losing his arm he went through intense rehab and continued to tour and perform with the band.
One of the best hair bands of the 80s, that’s still relevant today… this was fun, thank you🎸🤘🏼
Listen to rocket 🚀 from the same band
...I kinda think they were a cut above "80s Hair Bands".The Brits have always been good at music. When I think "Hair Bands ", I think Los Angeles metal acts....IMO
Hairbands raised me
They were great liv Back then. I'm sure they still put on a great show
Not a hair band. Hair bands were from Los Angeles. Lepps are from the 70s England.
"That era lives within". Very true. I'm still 30 in my mind, even though I'm older. I don't dress in 80's clothes though, LOL.
After loosing his arm in a car accident, Rick Allen created an electronic pedal system for his drum set, the majority of his drumming is done with his feet
Been to any strip club back in the day . This became Huge thanks to the Florida strip clubs.
You heard it in the Strip Club's , Come on Brad give it up!
You heard the man,he said"grocery store"😂
Thanks to every strip club in the country, not just Florida.
This was their first album and tour after Rick lost his arm. They refused to get another drummer! I saw them on this tour!
The words of Lex at the end were very smart.
Lol I am 60 and still love them. I seen them 3 times. Awesome concerts. They still tour. My sister is in her 50s and goes to every concert. Lol
Amazing
It’s a round stage and the drummer is on his own round and he spins. I seen this tour and it was probably the best concert I ever went too

Rick Allen
Saw them at the Tacoma Dome. You're right - best concert ever.
color me jealous.
@@vinniedixon1140 dang. Fricking phone changed it. LOL
@@grobinson7507 It's always the phone ain't it lol
This is definitely what's referred to as a hair band. It's a pop/rock sound.
was going to mention the Hair Band thing too. How about some Rock Of Ages
This band is the real deal. I have always loved them since MTV to today and beyond!!!! 😎❤
Let’s see them react to Stealheart. The song “I will never let you go” love to see Lex reaction.
Killer ballad.
AND other Steelheart songs !
How about Firehouse Don’t Treat Me Bad? No?
This was a live version on his 1978 "Running on Empty" album that was
amazing and deserves the credibility to be right up there with other
greats like McCartney's - Maybe I'm Amazed, Bob Seger's - Turn the Page,
and Don McLean's - American Pie.
I went went to Def Leppard when they came to Minneapolis in 88 or 89, shortly after the album came out. I'll never forget that concert. Amazing!
Def Leppard - Love Bites next 🔥🔥🔥
Ooooh! Yes!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
"Heard this before"
Said every guy thats ever been to a strip club!!!😜😜
In 1983 we would drive the backroads of our small town and drink beer while blasting Def Leppard! The drummer has one arm and doesn't miss a beat! Rock of Ages, Pyromania, Hysteria all great songs 🎵
This is actually a really great album, mostly, unironically.
Lex you’re absolutely right , 40
years ago I was going to night clubs and they played this constantly and I still feel the vibe
When Brad almost reveals he remembers this song from the strip club...
or the film coyote ugly
This song has never played in a grocery store unless the bananas are peeling themselves muwahaha
You guys still haven't even touched the best of Def Leppard, check out Photograph and Foolin.
Those songs are great but they are not even the best of Def Leppard. In my opinion their best album is High N Dry. Every song on that album is a banger
Earlier than that was even better - High&Dry has some amazing guitar rock:
Mirror Mirror
Lady Strange
Bringing on the Heartbreak
Let it Go
@@Frostrazor I don’t know about better than that. Their first album is good but doesn’t compare to high and dry
...and of course Rock of Ages
This song was HUGE back in 88, heard it every day.
Brad you've probably heard this song in a strip club. They used to play this song like crazy.
One of the best songs of 1987. A classic. My favorite band. I loved growing up in the 80’s. Best times ever!!!
I love your quote: "Suspended in time." There will never be another time like it. So happy to see your reaction!!
This always gives me goosebumps.
Red light, yellow light, green a-light, GO!
And they are awesome live. Been there seen it. 👌
One of the greatest concerts I have witnessed. The drums just ripped right through you.
It seems that the most popular 80's that you hear a lot today are this, don't stop believin, and livin on a prayer.
1987 I saw Def Leppard concert on this tour. Great show! I was 19 years old.
The difference between "hearing" a song vs. having a "dedicated listen". Very well said.
The drummer is killing it because he took a lot of time developing a set up of pedals for his feet to compensate for not having two arms.
You know it's 80's when you see the long hair!! She's right, this music was my teen era & one we will never let go of! It was such a big part of our most important memories! We can listen to any of them & it will bring back a memory or two!! Love it!!
80's baby
Loved def leppard since i was a teen
Love the drummer. Epic
