(Paused here: 9:54 to comment) About an hour ago I remembered that I was given a gear 360 by an old boss of mine and I want to use it for the upcoming 2024 April 8th solar eclipse for the environment shot. It’s been in storage for over two years. I plugged it in and nothing. I left it plugged in with the cable I bought for it since the original is far too short for my requirements. It’s been an hour of searching for a solution to fix the issue and while watching this video the charge light has lit. Score! Yet I do feel that an upgraded battery is a good idea so I’ll keep watching to see how far you get. No. My old boss didn’t give me the ring dongle you used to unscrew the lens collars but I am sure I can come up with a tool that will work just as well since I absolutely refuse to damage anything. I enjoy the “brand-new” appearance of anything I own. Like the original Nintendo game console I was given on my seventh birthday (Still looks fresh out the box). I love how you show that the ring dongle has a purpose that all those who destroyed their cameras never thought of. I can only imagine their reaction over seeing how you removed the lens collars, probably priceless)
As someone who today is just about to charge it for the first time, basically only use it when you really intend on using it for specifically and only 360° pictures and or photos or really really wide panoramas otherwise just use your regular phone because this battery is irreplaceable? Gotcha!
Thank you for your help. I followed your instruction on how to remove covers and what I found was amazing. The bottom battery tab was disconnected as well as the tab for the screen. Once connected and charged mine works even better than before.
To my surprise the cable in mine was also disconected. Thanks so much for this video, my camera works again now. I also havent't been able to find a replacement battery and the only phone I have that still works wit the camera is an S9 with Android 10.
I had the same problem.. Kept it 2 years in storage. Wouldn't charge. Finally got it to work by using a few combination of power banks and type-C USB cables. It is sensitive to orientation of the type-C connector. Doesn't make sense but it finally started charging.
Ugh I hate when these companies make this Tech that is like 6 years ahead of its time and can't even get the goddamn charger right you're absolutely right orientation should have nothing to do with charging it. I just bought one for 60 bucks on eBay and I'm about to go try four different DIYs on how to get the damn thing started before I follow this method and hopefully not destroy it
OK so Since there is no battery to buy to replace, you will have to carefully remove the charging circuit board from the original battery, its at the top of the battery . if you carefully peal back the foil you will se that the battery is attached to two leads that are attached to the board. Check polarity with a multimeter first then cut the two metal leads and solder two wires to the pads. I drilled a hole in the side through the aluminum housing and plastic and ran the wires through, i then attached to an 18650. you will have to connect and disconnect the negative lead till the camera recognizes the battery the solder the connection once the unit is turned on , I hope this helps, i finished the project in a day, now i can replace battery without ever opening the housing again. be mindful if you damage the board it will not work. I can even charge the 18650 battery through the original usb C port now. best regards, I hope this helps.
Can you do an hour-long video in which you replicate this process as if I were a kindergartener who knows nothing about soldering polarity multimeters or any of that shit what have all the equipment to do so. I mean I did just buy it so who knows what level the battery is at, but once it starts to go to crap I will reference a video I hope you make because that looks like a completely foreign language to me LOL. Top cheers for knowing how to do it though
Hi! I'm trying to produce an adapter for an external battery. I can't find the pinout from the battery connector to the camera board. Did you find this?
You do realize the rubber ring is meant to place on the ground and be a stable mount for the camera… the small end of the string is for a carry loop thru the small post on the bottom side.
Great video... Made taking it a part easy. Seems the battery is designed to fail. Had mine 3.5 years, used it less than 10 hours total. Periodically charged it. Pulled it out today and won't charge, dead. Finding replacement battery will be difficult.
It's very possible that the charging port and the battery connector was out of place, there's a theory that if you gave it a couple hard wacks on the bottom it will work, another one said that if you use the USB a to c adapter and plug it directly into your computer it'll work, I'm about to try everything and then give this a shot
I want to change the battery of Samsung Gear 360 SM-R210. So your video is of great value to me. I want to ask where can I get the battery for Samsung Gear 360 SM-R210. Because I need its battery. Please tell me the way to get it.
Before you do that there are a couple of other suggestions, one is to use the USB a to c adapter and plug it directly into your computer and then hold the power button down to get it to start working, another is just a simply whack it on the table a couple times on it's bottom and it'll work, it all points to they really fucked up with the charging port and battery connection feature which is like you know just a standard thing
I have an s24 waiting to be picked up. If I can remember to reply to this comment with what I found out, there are apps that basically render on the go and then you just upload it to wherever you want to. There is no more support for the gear 360 the sunsetted those updates in 2020 but you can still use it, you just need a couple of extra apps
Only one quick question. Where we can find to buy this battery because it dosen't exist anywere. There is no point to remove it if you can't find a new one...
I have found a solution to some problems; in my case the battery connector had just come loose (but in such a way that it was draining fast and not charging, but still turning on), once i pressed the battery connector in correctly (and put some hot glue on there to be sure), the battery started working perfectly again. for exact context, i think the connector may have come loose over a period of 24h, initiated by being sent through the mail. I bought the camera from Marktplaats (Dutch eBay/Craigslist), so i don't know how the device was treated by the previous owner. When i received it it was able to (slowly) charge, but it continued to drain throughout the day (especially while sleeping, probably because i was rattling it in my pocket). Right now it stays at 100% if i leave it in sleep mode (display off), and it can record for about 2 hours continuously.

That’s a trait of that camera I got one new a couple of years back. It even does overheat when new. When you use it in colder environments it is fine. But when you use it inside, at 21 degrees Celsius it eventually just overheats. Lowering the resolution may help to let it overheat later. Sorry that I don’t have a better answer
