OUTPUT OF ACTION DIRECTOR STITCHED VIDEO IS ALL BLACK, Only Audio Present - In an effort to consolidate some comments, I'd like to start a new thread regarding this issue. If anyone has this issue, please comment below and if anyone has ideas or fixes, please let us know what you think. I have Action Director 1.0 still installed on my PC with a Nvidia 960 graphics card. I made hundreds of stitched pics and videos in 2017 using this setup. Uploaded to FB and UA-cam. All was good. Recently, I dusted off my Gear 360 from 2016-2017 and tried to make a few new videos. First, I notice that I cannot get the app on my S22, so I go get my S20 with the app still installed. It opens, pairs just fine, and as soon as it tries to load the gallery it dies. Fine, I'll just record my videos and go to PC. I import the media into Action Director and it process it, says stitching, I watch as it uses about 10% of the GPU and then it finishes. However, the output is just black with the audio track. It's the correct time, but only audio is there. I thought maybe it's because it's a new video, so I look at my archive and try to stitch a video that I already have a stitched copy of. It also comes out black. Then I search the internet and realize a lot of people are having this problem. So my question is, what do I do? Is it related to Nvidia graphics driver? Would installing Action Director 2.0 fix it? For everyone that is still using Action Director 2.0, do you have a Nvidia card, AMD, or integrated graphics? My camera is completely flawless and I don't want to just throw it away. What else can I try?
The only solution to the black video issue is to roll back drivers. I had to roll back drivers so far that I needed to run a very early version of Windows 11 to get it to work. It's all bullshit really. A class action suit needs to be filed against Samsung for this crap.
I had the same issue. Many people said it was down to the NVIDIA drivers. I didn't want to downgrade my drivers but my machine had a NVIDIA graphics card so I temporarily disabled the NVIDIA Display Adapter (Device Manager>Display Adapter>NVIDIA one> Disable. Once I restarted the Gear 360 Director it worked although slower. Not an ideal solution however it does show its teh NVIDIA card that is messing it up (or probably the NVIDIA drivers)

Change the value from “OnlineCheck” to “LocalServer” 4. Go up to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cyberlink\ActionDirector2 5. Change “CDKey” value to AD4A2-WSYCQ-4Y9WH-VTH65-WBGHY-YB5V6 6. Create a new Binary Value named “HasWriteAPREG” and introduce the hexadecimal value “01 00 00 00” 7. Delete the “IsCDKeyAct” completely (we will recreate it next as a Binary Value 8. Create a new Binary Value named “IsCDKeyAct” and introduce the hexadecimal value “01 00 00 00” Try to open Gear 360. Hi, I installed the Gear 360 Action Director 2 software, but the registry key you ask me to look for is not there. It does not exist in the HEY Local Machine Software directory in Win. There is no CyberLink installation folder, I checked both in Win/Programs and Win/Program(x86). However, when I look in Control Panel, installed programs, I see Gear360 CiberLink Corp. Do you have any idea why? Thank You
This "hack" solved an on-going problem not being able to stitch videos using my Gear 360 (2017 version) since 2020! I tried the phone app (from Samsung), which crashes instantly, and even the modified version (APK on the XDA forums I tried but could not get it to work on my s20). It worked right off the bat (even bypassed the dreaded "activation" road-block) using the REG and EXE downloads you provided, allowing me to successfully import and stitch a video file! Note that for the "stitched" videos or data (after importing) are saved, and these should be found in the "...Documents\Samsung\ActionDirector\2.0\360" folder on most installations. What a wonderful fix and THANK YOU so much for doing this!
Got a Gear 360 2nd gen second hand for 40€ and following this video + activation fix worked flawlessly! I only needed it for stitching which works perfectly! I already love the little camera and am so excited to start using it :D
if you have black and gray screen output, it means you having newest graphic card too much : (. cyberlink stop to support after nvidia 416.x driver so (either amd) so you have to use it(action director) under intel integrated graphic or older system. it means you need to other computer like a laptop or some kind of old pc

any idea why after importing the 360 images to the action director and after the convert finish i end with gray images!!! i tried that in two computers and am getting the same result
I just mislaid my new x3 somewhere...(gutted) and was hoping some clever person had solved this issue. Thank you so much, I at least have a plan B to sooth the pain of losing the X3! I have to upload quite large files so I've yet to fully test it but this is some light at the end of the tunnel for me! Life saver!

Recently in the process of importing, many Action Director users (me among them) have had problems importing videos and 360 photos, they import totally black or gray, without visual content. Do you know of any solution for this?
I had the same problem with the videos and I fixed it. It's due to incompatibility with your phone. There is nothing wrong with Action Director. The videos are raw and you need to convert them into a suitable form especially by reducing the bit rate which is extremely high for most phones to handle. You should also check the images to see were the compatibility issue is emanating from.
Absolutely a life saver for one of a test product" ; like the Gear 360, put on the market now a days... We are "guinea pig's" for the high tech industries (Including Samsung) witch I personally feels that are getting away very easily... No real service after the sale is made, You have to follow very closely any online information, if you loose some time between firmware update or corrections information the products become obsolete or even unusable.... Until "someone" very smart and knowledgeable (probably an ex employee) makes the inside technical information link to the public... And then again the magic happens and it start working!!! Thank you Andre Granjo and Grant Robertson One thing I do admit is that for the bundle of technologies offered this product was under priced, probably they wanted to flood the market and make this new technology the new thing in photo technology, I can tell you this: you were that near to succeed the issue is that the tool surrounding the GEAR is as more important as the GEAR technology itself. what was lacking is the possibility to enter the 360 Picture and to make easy selection of the area you wanted more in focus, I believe this technology will come to TV were 360 camera will take the whole seen and every viewer will be able to FOCUS on the area of there choices or follow the already FOCUS are designated by the broadcaster ;-)

Looks like many people are often stuck when it comes to activating the software. Turns out it doesn't know how to handle IPv6 connections. If you can't connect to the activation server, disable IPv6 in your network settings and on your router. Then the activation should work...

Have grey screen on newer hardware. Suspect new graphics cards as mentioned aren't supported. Old Samsung laptop with a 650m Nvidia is working after reinstalling (win10)
any fixes yet? Is this an action director 1.0 vs 2.0 issue? or does it output black video on both. I have action director 1.0 installed still and files that i've stitched before cannot be stitched again. it's just an audio track with black video.
Very helpful, the installation was succesfull. But when I try to connect the camera, I get an error telling me that 'Gear 360 ActionDirector' is not activated and that I should contact Cyberlink. Any way to skip this step?
Doesn't it give the option to activate?? Usually it should take you to a menu where you enter your Samsung Camera Serial Number and it activates the software!
I see that there is an apk on the folder but the app doesnt connect to my gear. I have a samsung m32 and the first version of gear 360 (the spherical one). Any suggestions?

How to use the action software with a 2nd hand camera with no box - so no code... is there a way round this or what other software can I use instead. I just want to get the video off the device on to a pc and view using my vr headset.
Turn the camera on and click the "Menu" button until you see "settings". Press the "recording" button to enter "settings". Click the "Menu" button again until you see "About Device" and click the "recording" button to select. Click the "menu" button again until you see "Serial Number" and press the "Recording" button. It will display your camera's serial number which is what you need to authorize the Software. In order to "get your video off the device on to a PC" you need the software in order to stitch the 360 footage.
@@AndreGranjo Thank you - got it testing out - Hoping to be able to view on my Windows MXR Headset. I did have problems initially getting the camera to turn on and charge - seems plugging in is not so simple and can require different type of chargers or using usb type c ports to initially get it to turn on - I guess when not used for a while or on initial setup - again Hoping after will charge normally and will let know... there is a video link for that help too. Im hoping to attach to my drone for 360 views :)

Hello, i have a question because i am having an issue and i don't find an answer. When i use meatadata or switch to 360 in windowsplayer i have a huge resolution lost. Has anyone an idea how i can solve this so the images are in good quality?
Thanks - that worked. Now black stitched videos are also fixed by turning off my NVIDIA display adapter and using the built-in Intel. Had to restart Gear 360 Director. Not ideal but at least I can get my videos stitched!
i cant activate the cam with the program. Gear 360 ActionDirector was not activated because a connection to the activation server could not be established. Check your internet connection and then try again. anyone can help me?
It opens, but whenever I try to add a video to edit it crashes. This is on 64-bit Win 11. I've reinstalled it twice, but still happening. Not sure why.
@@AndreGranjo Yep. It doesn't seem to work with Windows 11. It works fine with Windows 10. I even tried running it as Windows 10, but it still crashes. I have a Windows 10 laptop (old one) and the software works despite the system being very slow. I can only assume that some change in Windows 11 is causing this error to occur. It's either that, or it doesn't work on 64-bit machines. I have managed to get it to work on the older system, but it is rather irritating to have to use a laptop that is very old and very slow to just stitch these videos to make them work.
This doesn't work for me. I had 2 times the windows telling me there was an error with C++ 2013. Once for the 360 action director installation and one for the 360 live broadcast. With your method, I only have one now : the one for the 360 action director, so it still doesn't install...

What happens when Samsung/Cyberlink discontinues support for the camera and it's software in 2024 ? Samsung says existing softwall installs will continue to work but new installs on a new pc will still need to "ACTIVATE" which might be impossible since the activation servers will cease to exist. I've installed gear 360 action director from Samsung. And first use was a success but now it shows a window saying activation wasn't possible. Please send cyberlink your purchase information so they can resolve the problem. I decided to install action director 3 as surely this would have much improved software. It recognises camera but it won't import any of the videos from the camera, It says the file format is not supported. The gear 360 camera files opened on the Samsung version on the first attempt so how come the latest version doesn't recognise the files. I've tried converting them to a different file format which action director 3 can load which is great but it doesn't convert the dual fish eye video into the vr video. Help me please
There is no workaround: YOU NEED Action Director 360 (Samsung Version) to stitch the footage. Have you tried activating using the Camera Serial Number instead of trying to connect to it? If you don't have the Serial number sticker anymore you can go into de settings menu of the camera and there is an option to display it on the camera screen.
@@AndreGranjo when I first used the software it said activation successful and everything worked perfectly. The next day activation unsuccessful and to contact cyberlink.. how do I activate the serial number so it didn't keep asking for it then failing 🤔
I just tried it again 3 times and it keeps saying, activation not succesful, please send cyberlink your product information.. i then tried running the program as administrator and bang it loaded straight away and its all working like a dream. how bizzare.. but hey it works and im now a happy chappy... i shall set the default to run as administrator now

You can also right click in the stitched images and go to Open File in Explorer (Or something like it).
I just mislaid my new x3 somewhere...(gutted) and was hoping some clever person had solved this issue. Thank you so much, I at least have a plan B to sooth the pain of losing the X3! I have to upload quite large files so I've yet to fully test it but this is some light at the end of the tunnel for me! Life saver!

Recently in the process of importing, many Action Director users (me among them) have had problems importing videos and 360 photos, they import totally black or gray, without visual content. Do you know of any solution for this?

I had the same problem with the videos and I fixed it. It's due to incompatibility with your phone. There is nothing wrong with Action Director. The videos are raw and you need to convert them into a suitable form especially by reducing the bit rate which is extremely high for most phones to handle. You should also check the images to see were the compatibility issue is emanating from.
Absolutely a life saver for one of a test product" ; like the Gear 360, put on the market now a days... We are "guinea pig's" for the high tech industries (Including Samsung) witch I personally feels that are getting away very easily... No real service after the sale is made, You have to follow very closely any online information, if you loose some time between firmware update or corrections information the products become obsolete or even unusable.... Until "someone" very smart and knowledgeable (probably an ex employee) makes the inside technical information link to the public... And then again the magic happens and it start working!!!

One thing I do admit is that for the bundle of technologies offered this product was under priced, probably they wanted to flood the market and make this new technology the new thing in photo technology, I can tell you this: you were that near to succeed the issue is that the tool surrounding the GEAR is as more important as the GEAR technology itself. what was lacking is the possibility to enter the 360 Picture and to make easy selection of the area you wanted more in focus, I believe this technology will come to TV were 360 camera will take the whole seen and every viewer will be able to FOCUS on the area of there choices or follow the already FOCUS are designated by the broadcaster

Thanks so much for the files and info. It worked just fine for me on Windows 10. Once I had done the changes in Regedit, the software opens with no problem.

Looks like many people are often stuck when it comes to activating the software.
Turns out it doesn't know how to handle IPv6 connections. If you can't connect to the activation server, disable IPv6 in your network settings and on your router. Then the activation should work...

3. Change the value from “OnlineCheck” to “LocalServer”
4. Go up to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cyberlink\ActionDirector2
5. Change “CDKey” value to AD4A2-WSYCQ-4Y9WH-VTH65-WBGHY-YB5V6
6. Create a new Binary Value named “HasWriteAPREG” and introduce the hexadecimal value “01 00 00 00”
7. Delete the “IsCDKeyAct” completely (we will recreate next as a Binary Value
8. Create a new Binary Value named “IsCDKeyAct” and introduce the hexadecimal value “01 00 00 00”

any fixes yet? Is this an action director 1.0 vs 2.0 issue? or does it output black video on both. I have action director 1.0 installed still and files that i've stitched before cannot be stitched again. it's just an audio track with black video.
Very helpful, the installation was succesfull. But when I try to connect the camera, I get an error telling me that 'Gear 360 ActionDirector' is not activated and that I should contact Cyberlink. Any way to skip this step?
Doesn't it give the option to activate?? Usually it should take you to a menu where you enter your Samsung Camera Serial Number and it activates the software!
just connect your camera and turn on your cam, then registration is automatic .)

How to use the action software with a 2nd hand camera with no box - so no code... is there a way round this or what other software can I use instead. I just want to get the video off the device on to a pc and view using my vr headset.
You can get the code (which is the camera serial code) in the camera menu.
Turn the camera on and click the "Menu" button until you see "settings". Press the "recording" button to enter "settings". Click the "Menu" button again until you see "About Device" and click the "recording" button to select.
Click the "menu" button again until you see "Serial Number" and press the "Recording" button. It will display your camera's serial number which is what you need to authorize the Software. In order to "get your video off the device on to a PC" you need the software in order to stitch the 360 footage.
@@AndreGranjo Thank you - got it testing out - Hoping to be able to view on my Windows MXR Headset.
I did have problems initially getting the camera to turn on and charge - seems plugging in is not so simple and can require different type of chargers or using usb type c ports to initially get it to turn on - I guess when not used for a while or on initial setup - again Hoping after will charge normally and will let know... there is a video link for that help too.

Thanks - that worked. Now black stitched videos are also fixed by turning off my NVIDIA display adapter and using the built-in Intel. Had to restart Gear 360 Director. Not ideal but at least I can get my videos stitched!
How do I make the Gear 360 run on an android or apple device?
You need an old Samsung Note9 or earlier. All of the newer models and Android versions are incompatible with the software

Gear 360 ActionDirector was not activated because a connection to the activation server could not be established. Check your internet connection and then try again.

It opens, but whenever I try to add a video to edit it crashes. This is on 64-bit Win 11. I've reinstalled it twice, but still happening. Not sure why.
have you tried running it as an "Administator"?
@@AndreGranjo Yep. It doesn't seem to work with Windows 11. It works fine with Windows 10. I even tried running it as Windows 10, but it still crashes. I have a Windows 10 laptop (old one) and the software works despite the system being very slow. I can only assume that some change in Windows 11 is causing this error to occur. It's either that, or it doesn't work on 64-bit machines. I have managed to get it to work on the older system, but it is rather irritating to have to use a laptop that is very old and very slow to just stitch these videos to make them work.
This doesn't work for me.
I had 2 times the windows telling me there was an error with C++ 2013. Once for the 360 action director installation and one for the 360 live broadcast. With your method, I only have one now : the one for the 360 action director, so it still doesn't install...

Go to the settings and, in the File tab, make sure you have set a location for the import and export folders to somewhere where you have available space and that you have writing privileges.

What happens when Samsung/Cyberlink discontinues support for the camera and it's software in 2024 ? Samsung says existing softwall installs will continue to work but new installs on a new pc will still need to "ACTIVATE" which might be impossible since the activation servers will cease to exist. Any thoughts?

I've installed gear 360 action director from Samsung. And first use was a success but now it shows a window saying activation wasn't possible. Please send cyberlink your purchase information so they can resolve the problem. I decided to install action director 3 as surely this would have much improved software. It recognises camera but it won't import any of the videos from the camera, It says the file format is not supported. The gear 360 camera files opened on the Samsung version on the first attempt so how come the latest version doesn't recognise the files. I've tried converting them to a different file format which action director 3 can load which is great but it doesn't convert the dual fish eye video into the vr video. Help me please
There is no workaround: YOU NEED Action Director 360 (Samsung Version) to stitch the footage. Have you tried activating using the Camera Serial Number instead of trying to connect to it? If you don't have the Serial number sticker anymore you can go into de settings menu of the camera and there is an option to display it on the camera screen.
@@AndreGranjo when I first used the software it said activation successful and everything worked perfectly. The next day activation unsuccessful and to contact cyberlink.. how do I activate the serial number so it didn't keep asking for it then failing 🤔
I just tried it again 3 times and it keeps saying, activation not succesful, please send cyberlink your product information.. i then tried running the program as administrator and bang it loaded straight away and its all working like a dream. how bizzare.. but hey it works and im now a happy chappy... i shall set the default to run as administrator now
