I have 7 of these. They're so cheap and beautiful tech. Also, I LOVE how they combine both camera footage onto one file. That's one issue some of the more expensive cameras don't do. Also, I HATE how many of the expensive cameras are tall+rectangular. That makes it extremely difficult to stash with a tripod in my jacket. I hate the LCD screen they put on these newer cameras. This 360 camera is the perfect formfactor. I wish samsung continued it. But since no one wants it, I'll buy them all off you guys.
I never thought consumer VR360 cameras would progress this slow. 8 years later I would have thought I would be shooting high-res stereoscopic 360 video but instead there's still not a single consumer option for that (RIP Vuze). Resolutions have improved at least somewhat but nowadays you have to settle for 180 if you want stereoscopic or just a higher-res monoscopic 360 camera. Even models that could at least do both of those seem to have vanished so you need two cameras to cover the two formats. 360 cameras mostly seem to have kept existing only because they let you make editing decisions in postprocessing instead of VR use. I guess my only hope is that VR and AR grow enough from here for these to become more desired again.
You nailed it, I'm quite shocked when I see the samples of the latest consumer cams and we're still not there yet. I think it's a real shame Samsung got out of 360, and the Gear VR too, as feel they could have pushed something great by now.
@sluxi just thinking to earlier this week and was a teaser for new dji device and had circles, had hopes for a decent 360 camera, ended up being a microphone. Hope they get in the 360 game though.
My samsung gear360 served me well. The camera itself still works fine but the battery could barely hold a charge anymore. Unfortunately there's no replacements that could be bought where I am from. A few days ago I decided to retire it and bought an insta360 x4.
I honestly forgot I picked this up YEARS ago, smh. Found it in a case in my closet...just totally forgot about it. I was able to charge it, no issues. But once fully charged...powered on, this may have a ...eh, 3-5 min. battery life right now before it totally goes back to 0% battery 😟 I could connect it to a power bank I suppose.
@JorgeGonzalez-qf6zq I use an Android phone, Samsung S21 FE, and I used the modded app from xda - xdaforums.com/t/mod-port-samsung-gear-360-manager-for-all-devices-updated-10-apr-24-v1-5-00-1-4.3400383/ That should work on majority of Android phones, iPhone may be trickier. Hope it works for you!
Hello, you really make me want to use it again, with good results, with this app, which you now suggest, but did you use a generic selfie stick, or a special one for this camera?
How do you get the videos off the camera every time i try too it kicks me out of the app and wont let me take any of the photos or videos off it even when i try on my laptop it says that there is nothing on the camera at all even with the sd card in inlt
@minecraftmaster2215 I got the fixed up from XDA forums, xdaforums.com/t/mod-port-samsung-gear-360-manager-for-all-devices-updated-10-apr-24-v1-5-00-1-4.3400383/, only for Android, not sure there's a way to use on modern iPhone which is real shame.
Apologies for late reply, in Android I would usually use the Theta+ app to edit 360 videos and photos play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thetaplus

How are you getting on with the x4? I am tempted to finally upgrade!
That was cool! Giving me ideas now, great edit 👊

Oh no, hope the power bank works out for you, I'm always nervous my batteries will one day go bad, seems to be hard to find replacements now too.
Despite it being over 8 years old , it still priced at over $200. on Amazon. I still use mine a lot.
Really looking forward to use it again on vacation later this year
Hi, what app do you use with it now? Many thanks!

I've been using a generic selfie stick that I bought from a supermarket shortly after buying camera, it has served me well over the years!
thank you for your response...
