Thank god for these UA-cam videos! As single mum, it saves me thousands! I’ve been putting up with my toilet leaking for over 4 years! If I had to wait for my partner to do it, it would never get done😅
Thanks for sharing how to remove this part with a firm twist. Just replaced with the exact same seal pack from Bunnings which have now increased by 18% over the last 3 years to $7.08.
Perfect thank you! Fixed one issue I had! Don't forget to clean any bits of old rubber in the bowl from the old washer or it may still leak 😊 The other issue for anyone in a similar situation was my float switch (the white thing on the right) had come loose, but was as simple as re-inserting the prong into the hole on the left hand side 😊
Good video, the removal of the flush mechanism is not obvious until you know. You can also reverse the washer to get another life out of it. Mine is still going well after doing that. Happy New Year.
Flipping the washer didn't work as a blister/ bubble was in the layers, it still leaked and a new one fixed it. Removing the canister was a complete pain, really tight and I had to really crank on it at the base.
Right on target. Your video really helped me. Replaced silicone washer. All is well. First time for me so valve was a little tight removing. Applied a little soap on replacement washer and it went right back on. To test, put a little piece of toilet paper on back of toilet bowl up high, waited 15 minutes and it never got wet. - Thank you
Thank you VERY much, such a simple & easy to follow video. I wish I had done it sooner. I have to admit, I didn't have a new seal on hand, so I cleaned & reversed the seal & that seamed to work. Given that the seal was flat with no groves. I'll monitor & take it from there, now that I know how to do it.
I had the same issue with the bubbled washer. I replaced the washer with a new black Fix-a-Loo caroma washer from bunnings but it still leaked. After lots of frustration I found a good way to seat it correctly which solved the issue. The key point is that the washer seals around the inner diameter. I needed to use a butter knife to REALLY jam it in so that it seals around the plastic inner shaft. It should fit tight around it like a rubber band. I thought I did this the first time but it wasn't good enough, you have to really shove it in forcefully otherwise water will freely flow around it through the centre hole. The outer diameter is not important; I replaced a 65mm OD washer with a 62mm one for this. I also found that it does not need to lay flat against the plastic seating.
Thanks - I didn’t have a leaking cistern washer, but water was leaking out of the mounts at the bottom - so I needed to work out how to get the cistern out to tighten the wing nuts… thanks heaps for the video - I will be saving this for next time 😁
Excellent! Thanks for showing as I had know idea how to take it out to get to the rubber, also same issue with a bubble in the rubber but I turned the rubber the other way 😬
The washer in the flushing unit usually lasts up to 5 years. My current issue is with the unit on the right, the Caroma Quietflow 2 Bottom Inlet Valve, which I have already replaced about 5 years ago. I thought the leak (hissing) was due to a worn seal in the Cap Assembly. After replacing that seal, the stopping mechanism failed entirely (component which relies on buoyancy). It's gonna be another trip and $30 to Bunnings (which is still cheaper to the RRP $47.53 listed from Caroma website).
Thanks man. It works. I used a needle to break the bubbles and it works again. Turning upside down does not work as the bubble on the seals are not seal tight.
Thanks for the video. It was really hard to take off the latch. I put an extra strength to twist it while being mindful to not breaking it. But after that it's super easy.
Well done! I know this is the hardest part to show people as I can't really convey how much force you have to put in. I'm glad you managed to twist it out. Tbh, it took me several tries to do this part.
currently fighting to take it out with no luck, but I realized that the bottom part in mine its trying to go out as a one piece and yours only the top part comes out, will try to stop the bottom part from moving to pull the top part...
Thanks mate, your video helped me. To be frank with you I didn't understand "Church of 'B'" at first .. the magic light appeared after reading this comment..
Thank you for the great video. I have the same model. The water level in Toilet Bowl is very low. I can't find the toilet tank fill tube to check it. I can't see it in the video too. Do you know where can I find it? Thank you.
So it turns out I bought the washer for the older cisterns 😶 Turns out removing the washer a flipping it over fixed the issue 😊 ... for how long, I cannot answer that. Will be making another trip to Bunnings to get the right washer at a later date 😉
Turns out there are 2 sizes that I know of, there is an older styles dial flush cistern and a newer one which is bigger than the old one, there maybe more \_0_/
A very helpful video, thanks. I have the same issue as Benji, however. With much difficulty I got the central unit to turn, but it will not release, so I cannot remove it. Any suggestions would be welcome, thanks!
You must twist it quite hard if it is your first time removing it. When i first tried twisting it almost feels like it will break but it pop right out.
@@tbperth My only guess is the twist is not hard enough and it is still stuck in the catcher at the bottom. Try twisting it to the furthers you can go and pull gently to lift it out. Otherwise the plumber might be your next option.
Strangely I changed the washer but the water keeps leaking. I realised the water kept filling to the top... above the thin pipe on the left and flowing through that into the toilet. Is there a way to solve that?

Wow, that's highway robbery. I should note that flipping the seal to the non bubble side could work as well as pointed out by some people in the chat!
took ages to find a video with the same toilet as what i had then finally found yours. Thanks for the video. :)
That drip noise was driving me crazy I knew it could be fixed but had no idea how to access washer till you video thanks.
Glad this helps!

What a great video. 2X $6.00 washers from bunnings
fixed my two systems. Didn't have to pay the plumbers callout fee and for the job👌👍
I see you also go to the same green church i go to almost every sunday. 😂
Thanks for this video, searched for ages until I found this vid with same toilet as mine...plumbers aren't cheap.
Good video, the removal of the flush mechanism is not obvious until you know. You can also reverse the washer to get another life out of it. Mine is still going well after doing that. Happy New Year.
Thanks for the comment on flipping the washer, its not a forever fix, but it will quiet it until I can grab a new one. Thanks!

Legend for this video - exact same model, couldn't figure out how to get the flush column/pipe out. cheers!
Thanks you just helped two ladies save a lot of time and money
Thanks for the video. I just turned the washer over and popped the bubbles it it seals now.
Thanks for posting this. You saved me a call to a plumber!
Well done! Thanks for watching the video!
Thanks mate, saved me a fortune...got it done for $2.75
Yes. I pulled it out. And turned the silicone washer upside down.
That worked.
All good information. 👍👍👍
Thank you SO MUCH. You DID save me having to call a Plumber. Very much appreciated. :)
Thanks for posting - just what I need. Also, nice to hear an Aussie presentation.
Thank you so much! Helped a girl out who has no idea how to fix anything lol
Most welcome!
Thanks!! Just what I was looking for. My toilets are now fixed. Helped me figure out how to access the washer.
big thank you, without your guidance, not only costing $$$ for the part and it's extremely difficult to take out the faulty flusher.
Thankyou. Well explained and worked a treat. Fix for under $6.00
Thanks so much for taking the time to document this process! I'll be giving this a go myself 👌
awesome video, Removed the washer and turned it over and reinstalled not leaking now , it will do until i get to bunnings.😃

Also an update after following your tutorial. It worked!!! Thank you again.
Thanks brother! It was super simple and straightforward with your instructions. Appreciate you!
Very good video, worked first time, well done
Thank you 😊 this video helped me so much…..I’m someone who knows nothing!!
Love it! You made it look very simple! Thank you!
Amazing 🎉 I will try to do it myself and see what happens. Thank you

This is brilliant thanks! Worked exactly as shown.

Thank you. All done as shown. Fixed.
Awesome 👏 thanks for the video now I’m on my way to the tool store
Thank you this is the exact toilet and problem I have and you've saved me heaps.
“The green church of B” - HAHA. Thank you for adding some humour to make me literally LOL whilst learning what I need to do.
At that time I thought, no one's gonna get that reference. 😜

@@krishnaa1330 as a DIY devotee it's a must for every Sunday and to buy your daily bread... with sausage and ketchup.
Thank you. Worked exactly and as easily as you demonstrated.
Great stuff. Made it very clear. Thanks so much!
Really works well. Should have bought one sooner.
Thank you so much for demonstrating this process. I think I can do this.😊👍
I believe the red one is for the older style. The brand at Mitre10 sell them separately where the brand at church of B seem to include both.
Thanks mate, just fixed my 2 leaking toilets!
Thanks mate, you saved my marriage. Great one!
Holy cow! You are welcome, mate!!
Wowzers ….exactly what I needed. I’m going to give it a go.
great video! i couldn't figure out how to get the unit out
Thanks for the video dude....extremely helpful.
Glad it helped
Excellent tip very well explained thank you for sharing 🌟
Thanks fixed my toilet using this video

Awesome, thanks for this mate, this is exactly the issue I had and you’ve solved it. “Green church of B” - lol
thanks buddy, just found my toilet leaking, same issue, going to fix it
Fantastic! Thanks for the super helpful vid. $$$ saved, just like that.
thanks - that was simply and clearly presented
So it turns out I bought the washer for the older cisterns 😶

Brilliant!!! Thank you so much!! Heading to the green church😂
Wow! Thank you for sharing!!
Thanks. Your guidance worked for me.
Thank you so much for sharing your expertise
What do you do if you can see the water running over the overflow pipe?
Replace fill valve
Thanks was just about to call a plumber awesome
Thanks mate your video is spot on.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Exactly what I was looking for! To the point, no mucking around! Saved me money and time and a nagging wife!
That's the trick to save some $$$ and hopefully give you some peace at home. Thanks for watching!
Thanks perfect- fixed.. Disappointing the caroma washers "bubble". That is poor quality/ design.
Thank you, excellent video.
When twisting it anticlockwise, it just continues to twist and it is not possible to remove it?
i accidentally snapped half of one of the blue discs in the middle. Is it still okay to use with a replacement washer?
Thanks Mate.
Thanks mate, exactly what I needed
Is that second red washer the external one underneath the cistern to stop external leak onto the floor?
Good video. Is that washer a standard size?
It is usually standard. Just ask those helpful fellas in the aprons when you go to the green church of B.
Turns out there are 2 sizes that I know of, there is an older styles dial flush cistern and a newer one which is bigger than the old one, there maybe more \_0_/
Thanks pal, worked a treat 😁
when i put it back in both buttons were not parallel and tilted at an angle, now that it has clicked in, i can't click it out. What do i do
You are a legend!
My rubber ring seems intact, what sending need to check?
Excellent. Thankyou.
Hi there, I tried twisting the cistern out (both clockwise and anti clockwise) and it wouldn't come out at all. Any ideas why?
A very helpful video, thanks. I have the same issue as Benji, however. With much difficulty I got the central unit to turn, but it will not release, so I cannot remove it. Any suggestions would be welcome, thanks!
Still need a reply!

I had this problem, I twisted it back and forth to loosen it up, and mine went around a 1/4 turn, not the small amount that his moved.
where i can buy the white washer? i am in Canada
Try taking the image of this washer and show it to a hardware store. Hopefully they can find a similar looking washer.
Is it it twist and pull on all caroma stylus models? Mines a slightly older model, but looks similar inside though the seperate floaty thing.
Easy fix. Cheers 😎
Thanks for this.
My pleasure!
Don't know why my toilot is very difficult to put it out😢
Legend! Thank you!
Strangely I changed the washer but the water keeps leaking. I realised the water kept filling to the top... above the thin pipe on the left and flowing through that into the toilet. Is there a way to solve that?
Yes, pull the pipe up,
If it's leaking around the rubber seal on that I used plumbers tape
You probably need to change the inlet valve. You can buy it from Bunnings. Very simple installation
Great vid
THANK YOU!
Thanks for this Mate 👍good on ya .
Great help thanks 🇦🇺
Thanks
Thank you sir 👍 legend
