    Had watched other videos which only explained in part, this video helped me finally solve my problem with water continuing to run and it was down to not lining up the marks when replacing the washer! Thanks so much! Saved me paying out ££££s for what was a simple fix!

    Thanks so much for this, I did exactly the same as you. I replaced the rubber fitted everything back together and yes it still leaked. There are 2 notches to align inner and outer. If you don’t get them both aligned properly then it will still leak. Thanks again.

    Hi there, we’ve got a similar cistern as in this video. The cylinder in the middle bit won’t slide down enough to close the gap and stop the water from running. Have you any tips on fixing this?

  • @charlottethomas5677
    @charlottethomas5677 6 місяців тому

    Doing mine. It's easier if you take the plastic arm away from the round plastic thread. When you go to put the thread back on you can align the notch perfectly and the plastic arm doesn't get in the way.

    I’ve changed the rubber but it’s still running after the cistern is full but it stops after about 30-40 seconds ? It does fill up fast now and not slow.

    Mine was filling very very slowly I replaced the rubber seal and now it won't stop filling 😂 help!
    Fitted old one and was slowly filling so at least I knew it wasn't the actual whole unit. Finally after many attempts I got it to work!

      I literally had this exact same problem only a few days ago. Had the diaphragm replaced and then it started overfilling. The issue for mine was the top bit. If you look at the bit where there's a small hole and what looks like a rubber flange, press your finger down on the plastic part in the center of the hole. If it stops overfilling then you have the same issue I did.
      I fixed it by placing 3 very small washers under the lip of the white hole so it held the flange and the little plastic bit down, essentially simulating constant pressure downwards, and it works now!

    Thank you, this was so helpful. I have 1 question though; i twisted the nob to make the float lower, however that doesnt seem to stop the water. It continues to fill the cistern until approx 5ml below the overflow pipe. Any tips or should i just apply the 'dont fix whats not broken' addage?

    • @pdunleavy1982
      @pdunleavy1982  5 місяців тому +1

      I think I would leave alone. Or keep adjusting the float lower. Trial and error.

    What is the top bit of the filler value, the little white thing that drops into the hole when the toilet stops filling (see it drops at 7.51 in this vid). This is what won't drop properly on my toilet. Any idea how to fix? Is it another rubber seal or similar?

    Hi, Thank you so much for this video. My cistern was taking ages to fill up. Just check and the washer was in a bad way. Just ordered another one. I have noticed as well that there was also a constant flow of water running into the bowl - would this be a related problem or it is something different? If so, what would be the solution? Would I have to change the rubber or a part at the bottom too?

    • @pdunleavy1982

    Hi, my toilet cistern was taking ages to fill up so I replaced the rubber seal as shown on this video. It worked great for about a week but now the water won’t stop running even when the cistern is full. I can’t get a plumber to come out to look at it. Do you have any ideas what it might be? Many thanks

    • @pdunleavy1982

      I would check the rubber again. Maybe it wasn’t sitting right and it’s worn a hole in it again.

    Not mentioned in these videos is there is a rubber inset in the lever arm circa 6mm dia. Not easy to see as white the same as the lever. This can be indented to such an extent it cannot form an air tight seal to the little hole in the end of the plastic piece he took out. The rubber can be pushed out from the rear turned round and reinserted to expose a fresh smooth surface. I replaced the sealed in the video but still had a problem. Turned round the seal in the lever arm solved the problem.

    • @tonytraveller7218

      Im having the same problem, I do not see a rubber inset at all on the lever arm and cant find the part at all? I replaced the seal as in the vid (flow valve) but water is still jetting out of the little hole in the lever arm? And the toilet does not stop filling

    I've had mine to bits the same. The rubber washer is fine and it still F**** leaks. Worst design ever for a cistern. I have 2 of these in my house and they are both shite. Both of them keep playing up and running water. Bring back the metal valves with plastic float. Rarely was there a problem with those. These crappy plastic fittings don't work 5 min without having to fiddle with them!
