As my late grandfather (who played his entire life) said the first time he saw a video of SRV playing “He bends his strings like they’re cooked spaghetti noodles.” So when I told gramps that SRV played the heaviest available strings his jaw hit the floor. He didn’t pick up his guitar for a couple months after watching. I suppose seeing him for the first time effected all of us in that way...even Clapton.
I never felt like giving up playing my guitar because of Stevie Ray Vaughn. I’ve always felt like he was my guitar Bruce Lee, what I aspire to be one day. You should never let someone else’s skill level dissuade you from doing what you love. You may never sound like him, you may not even want to, but to have that level of skill in whatever style of music you enjoy, is definitely something to aspire to. I’ve been playing a long time, and I’m not even close, but you might be....
Stevie cleaned up and was completely sober for four years before he was killed in that helicopter crash. He helped many people during that time to get sober including his own brother Jimmie who is also a great guitar player. Stevie was a great human being, well-liked and humble. He is so missed. :(
Greek Admirer clarkdale has a prison and I have tokens that they paid the convicts with many many years ago!! Yes! I am also a collector and the delta.... so many great finds!!!
Stevie Ray did a song name “Life without you” he dedicated to his friend Charlie who owned a guitar store and repaired Stevie guitars and custom made the guitar he plays in the song, he named the guitar Charlie after he passed away suddenly. Stevie died in a helicopter crash in 1990. But you really have to listen to this song, it’s powerful.
Stevie Ray Vaughn, the greatest blues guitarist I’ve ever seen play. A true master of his instrument. Every time I watch him play, I get tears on my eyes. His playing talks directly to my soul. There will never be another Stevie Ray Vaughn. Rest In Peace SRV!
Sometimes I cry when I watch his videos and I'm not even sure why . I'm 50 year, old tough iron worker from Ohio but yet he chokes me up. What a gift from God this man was.
@Machiavelli Rex @Eric Gordon, ME TOO, y'all! I start crying when I'm watching him and I don't really know why. I guess in part because it's a damn crying shame (literally) he's no longer with us. It just isn't fair.
One of my absolute favorite artist Mr. STEVIE RAY VAUGHN, A VERY SPECIAL INDIVIDUAL, in many ways. Thank God for the time we had him! STEVIE played with the thickest guitar strings most could never ever use. I read that the faces came from the fact that guitarist don't want to tense up with their hands so they do most expressions through their face!💜thank you guys for doing some STEVIE RAY VAUGHN RIP TO THE LEGEND 🎼🎸🎶
This is often regarded as one of the best if not the best blues guitar performances ever recorded. I saw him play twice in Springfield illinois and sooo glad I had the chance.
Dis man right here, Dis man RIGHT HERE, is THEE Gold Standard of Guitarist 🎸🕶️ If you ain't heard Stevie Ray Vaughn, you're missing ONE, if not, the Greatest Guitarist that ever lived💯 Thanks for the AWESOME reaction❣️. May God continue to bless you ALL🙏
Stevie has the opposite effect on me, in the fact that his talent only made me want to play for the rest of my life. I will never be at the level Stevie was at and I’m okay with that. What he showed me is that everybody has a passion so go find it and never let it go. My passion is music has been since I was three years old. Stevie just validated my love of music that’s all. He gave so much love to the world and that’s what I miss about him the most.
You won't find a live performance from SRV where he doesn't have sweat pouring off of him. It's just how hard he played. Greatest ever!!! Freaking wizard.
Living in Texas i had the pleasure of seeing Stevie play in small clubs before he got famous. First time i saw him i knew i was in the presence of greatness !!!
Great reaction from you two ... and ... to everyone that has just now seen this video... you just witnessed the Greatest guitarists of all time ... I first saw this Stevie Ray Vaughan Live at the El Macombo back in the mid 8o's when it came out on VHS cassette... yes... VHS cassette ... I purchased at a Book/Music store. I enjoyed it so much that when it came out on DVD I purchased the dvd and still watch it from time to time! I enjoyed the reaction video y'all! R.I.P. Stevie... we miss you ... and we will never forget you! 😎
Great reaction, as always. Stevie is one of if not the greatest guitarists of all time. He used to play like the music was just flowing through him. You should react to ”Voodoo Child” or his song ”Lenny,” he wrote for his wife! You should also check out Jeff Healy he is a fantastic guitarist who was blind. I suggest ”See the Light” he shreds on that song.
Voodoo child done in every reaction video and it's far from one of his best...it's very over rated cause it's a Hendrix Song. I wish SRV had recorded other Hendrix Songs ,cause everybody beats this horse DEAD !
I sat on the grass 50 feet from the front of the stage for Stevie Ray's last show, he played before Clapton. When Clapton took the stage he said "How the fuck can I compete with that!".
Agree Stevie Ray Vaughan and Albert King " Sessions Album" is young SRV and his Guitar Hero, showing the Master, the Student has learned everything you tallught him and he is teaching ,you stuff you never heard. A superior CD
Love the SRV reaction, y'all! Keep 'em coming. 👏🤘 That's not sweat....those are drops of soul oozing from some deep, magical, cosmic place. SRV ~ 🎸🐐 PS - Your next SRV vid needs to be "Life Without You" live at Capitol Theater. It's an absolute must-see!
It’s difficult to explain to anyone who doesn’t at least tinker around on a guitar exactly what absurdity you’re seeing SRV do with ease. His mastery of the guitar reached levels that may never be seen again. He’s been gone nearly 30 years and his guitar playing is still transcending music. R.I.P. SRV
Other ‘tricks’ SRV did like playing behind his back included switching guitars mid solo without any break in the solo, drinking beer/etc while mid solo, playing blindfolded behind his back, and doing it all while drinking and being high as hell
He switched guitars midway thru when he broke a guitar string. Plus he too played with his teeth. Definitely the best .. gone too soon but what a catalog he left for all to get lost in the sauce👏🏼❣️
SRV was on another level with his enormous technical abilities. No one could replicate some of the techniques he used to get the sounds on a guitar that he produced.
Stevie was the greatest blues guitarist by far. You'd be amazed at the talented guitar players. Roy clark and the odd couple show. He plays a 3 minute song unedited with a studio audience and it is something to behold. Pure genius.
Man I love it yall just witnessed the greatest guitarist ever period you have to do his cover of voodoo Chile one night live in Texas that exact video it's Stevie at his best before we lost him in a helicopter crash in 1990 RIP Stevie you are missed every day ☮️
The greatest compliment a musician can receive is a spontaneous and genuine smile when his (or her) music is listened to for the first time. You didn't disappoint him...
Stevie Ray Vaughan was not only possibly the best glues guitarist to ever play, but the most humble human being ever, who never stopped worshiping all the blues players who handed it right back. Eric Clapton once said that he could only listen to SRV play two songs or so until he wanted to give up the guitar. You'll notice that he spends most of this song either with his eyes closed or not looking at the guitar. And he never learned to read music, so everything was by ear or by memory. And what he did at the end of this one is something no human being should ever try. he and his guitar are like Mitch Grassi and his voice - anyone else can only try for second best...
I always love it when people who have never heard a note Stevie Ray Vaughan ever played take the time to check him out. He put every part of his being into what he played and how he played it. Clean or sober, that's how he played, every time. There is a great clip of him playing with one of his heroes, Buddy Guy, at Guy's 53rd birthday party on a cut called "Champagne and Reefer" that you should check out. The two of them together are showing so much love to each other, even as they're playing their respective asses off. Peace to you and yours - thank you for the good vibes!
I love Stevie Ray Vaughan. My mom (single mom of 4) moved us to Austin Texas early 70s. I have always loved music and thank God SRV never forgot his city. SRV played @ Town Lake ( for free) peeps would bring their ice chest, blankets, lawn chairs whole family would come out and enjoy the evening. ( 7pm -10pm) SRV was a great man to the Austin community. Btw I became a subscriber because I love your good vibes good vibes thank you for being here for us
About the El Mocambo, where this video was filmed - you're right, it wasn't a huge venue - seating 450, but the had amazing bands there, usually ones just before they hit the big time. The Rolling Stones even did an impromptu concert there in 1977. It's in Toronto and was my favourite place for good beer and great music.
one of the greatest live events in music history ever. Very few people in attendance were aware that they were a part of absolute music history. And it happened at a club called The El Mocambo... No one person was born before or since who was fit to his guitar 100% like Stevie Ray. It'll never happen again. He made Eric Clapton walk off side stage at a performance in bewilderment... nothing like "God" being bested right to his face. His face and photos are still everywhere in establishments in Texas. I lived in Denton (north dfw) for a time and every decent respectable eatery has his face somewhere..
Keep in mind, he was completely self taught, his biggest influence was every guitarist he ever heard. Died sober, a true inspiration to many who came after him, he will only cease to exist, if he is forgotten. I will keep his memory alive as long as I can.
The beautiful chit between his ears and in that head, coming out to hands and fingers... amazing the depth of feeling has putting out... not looking at the strings.... he's seeing them notes in his head instantly to the strings... lol
Congrats on finding the best blues guitarist of all time. A few quick notes on Stevie Ray. He unfortunately left this earth way too young. Died in a helicopter crash after a gig. There was a special on with the best guitarists playing all on one night, Stevie was touring and couldn't be there. They had BB King Albert Lee, Albert King, and many others. An interviewer asked the group (not really expecting an answer) who was the best alive at that time. Silence. Then BB said well nobody does it better than Stevie Ray and they all just nodded. Clapton said the first time he heard Stevie play he was driving and had to pull over and talk himself out of giving up Guitar. Stevie had probably the strongest hands of anyone. Most people using anywhere from 9 to 11 gauge strings, Stevie used 13s. Most people couldn't play his guitar cause they couldn't bend the strings. He was also about 9 months or a year sober when he died and was making the best music of his life. His body was still sweating out all the booze and drugs he had used for many years. There is a video on YT of him playing "Little Sister" live and he breaks a string while playing a solo. Finishes the break and makes the smoothest transition to a new guitar. Check that one out. Great reaction you two. Catch you again!! Peace. Be safe. Oh hey just found the link to that video of Little Sister. Enjoy it and don't take your eyes off the guitar. Also the greatness of his guitar tech!! ua-cam.com/video/8yWaZVchd6k/v-deo.html
It's called the "stank face"!🤭 Stevie does it and we all do it with him!😜 Started going to clubs in Austin, 🇨🇱 to see Stevie in the mid '70s. Last time I saw him was '85 on the Texas Flood tour. He is and always will be our 🇨🇱 "Pride and Joy". He is in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame and the Blues Hall of Fame! One of a kind ... He is the blues guitar G.O.A.T. I cried 😭 so much when he died. 💯 RIP Stevie Ray, we still miss you. 🙏❤️😢💔 Please react to "Life Without You". I think you'll both love it.✌️❤️
He started playing when he was 7. He was playing night clubs in south Dallas as a teenager! Great choice for your first. No matter which tune you choose next... you will not be disappointed. He is the GOAT!!
I was there and he snorted so much coke before and during the show, the man was the only one sweating. I love SRV only wished he's was with us longer, we lain him to rest here in Dallas, Tx 500,000 showed up and he was sober to two years.
The video that started me following him was cold shot. You should do that one it shows just how much Stevie Ray Vaughan loves his guitars because in this video his woman is talking second place too his guitar playing. It is truly a tribute to his wife and all she put up with.
He put his, soul into every note he played, and you can see it in his face. A gift frim God, who didn't tell us he was a gift we couldn't keep. R.I.P. S.R.V.
Caught him on a radio show when the DJ said "you have to hear this". After that I never missed a concert when he was in town. Best live shows ever & the party started in the parking lot of the venue before even getting into the show. I miss him .
Im glad you guys experienced a true bluse man that gives me inspiration for even picking up the guitar i miss him so much it hurts but i know he is in a better place..one of the greatest guitarist we will ever hear
I was fortunate enough to see SRV in Dallas a few weeks before he passed opening up for among others Eric Clapton. He was now sober and hitting on all cylinders Even Clapton said you have just witnessed the greatest of ALL time .
That show was at The El Mocombo in Toronto Ontario Canada. The room holds about 700 people. I attended a surprise concert and album recording of The Rolling Stones there in Match of 1977.
Stevie used 13 gauge strings. They were so thick he would shred his finger tips and then super glue them back on. If you want to listen to a really good blues song by Stevie play the live version of Tin Pan Alley. Great blues guitarist.
The smiles say it all. I was raised on SRV and have always loved this song, this performance was the best of Texas Flood. You guys should check out Leave My Girl Alone, from Austin City Limits, 1989...soooo good.
Wow !! Great reaction !! I could not take my eyes off your wife. She is beautiful and she seemed to be hanging on every note, and vocal Stevie was playing. You are a lucky man... Keep up the good work !!
f there's ever some one who deserves it behind their name, Stevie surely does. Stevie the Great. It's great watching yoy guys sit there selling your merch knowing you're about to get your mind blown. Stevie the Great.
That's the El Mocambo club, in Toronto. I used to live there (Toronto, not the club...). It has two floors with live music and low gee-dee ceilings. It gets mighty hot in there. As you can see. I played there in a couple of punk bands, back in the early 90's.
my all time favorites since I was a teenager (53 now) - Stevie Ray Vaughan and Randy Rhoads. Two guitar wizards who were masters of their craft and both taken from this life way too young (35 yrs & 25 yrs). If you want to hear some fun upbeat SRV tunes that will get ya up & dancin' or bouncin' in your seat at least, please check out Pride & Joy, Superstition, and The House is Rockin'.
Way over rated song, I wish SRV had recorded other songs cause Voodoo child has been beaten to death over and over, and really not a good SRV performance !
@@MindDezign for me as a guitar player. Its not about the song, it's how he played the music to the song. He never played it the same way twice. It about his ability to play the way he felt.. And quite frankly, nobody played Jimi Hendrix like SRV...
@@perrybernard1308 me as a guitar player, don't really care if SRV played Jimi Hendrix! Stevie and Jimi could not read music, that's why the sounded so good cause they put what they heard from others and came up with their own stuff. It is exactly why the did the songs a different way every time ,they didn't feel the need to be in a musical box .Like all musicians do...eventually. But they aren't coming from a mechanical Berkeley Music Theory angle. They are coming from " creating" Stevie always wanted to Jam with Jimi, he played Jimi because Jimi wasn't there. Not to Play like Jimi. That is a huge difference, as so many try to play like both of them ,they wouldn't respect them ,for it.
@@MindDezign you may feel its overplayed , but its new for people just discovering SRV. If you think its overplayed,, there are other things to watch. Watch something else.
@@perrybernard1308 duh! Thank you for your permission... I don't even listen to Jimi's version. Song is over played It's over played to death. But now with your permission,I can choose more worth songs.....
“I love his facial expressions!” “Yeah, they remind me of yours.” My brother, that was some smooth shit right there.. no wonder you scored such a beautiful woman! 👍🏻
Stevie Ray making people who don't play guitar wish they could, and those that do feel like they can't.
That's one of the best definitions I've ever read about SRV.
Spot on!
Because Stevie can play behind his back while singing better than they can play normal.
Steven Williams very well said!
As my late grandfather (who played his entire life) said the first time he saw a video of SRV playing “He bends his strings like they’re cooked spaghetti noodles.” So when I told gramps that SRV played the heaviest available strings his jaw hit the floor. Eric Clapton said, when Stevie plugs in to his amplifier he becomes electric. I agree
Man I love watching her laugh at your jokes like that. You know you got a keeper when y’all can have fun and cut up. Awesome family👍
Stevie Ray was the GOAT. I saw him live at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines when he got clean and sober. He was amazing!
Thanks, guys! So glad you got the BEST live version of this... much appreciated!
I loved how you said "He's Fuckn that Guitar Up" thats classic. He definitely tore it to pieces everytime he picked it up.
You are correct, the “ElMo” was a hot sweaty club, back in the day. The Stones recorded a live album here, too. Greetings from Toronto!
I remember that hot Texas August day. I was listening to Q102 when Redbeard was crying and told us he was gone!
One bass, a drummer and the best blues/rock guitar player & singer EVER.
This video shows the true artistry of music at it’s core. Really enjoyed this video.
Thanks for your reaction Half and Jai.
this is master level guitar
Born & raised in Memphis. Saw him at Memphis in May music festival & it changed my life. I was devasted when he died.
I was fortunate enough to see SRV in Dallas a few weeks before he passed opening up for among others Eric Clapton. He was now sober and hitting on all cylinders
Even Clapton said you have just witnessed the greatest of ALL time .
You two are great. Love your interaction with each other. SRV makes love to his guitar when he plays. RIP Stevie. Left us way to early.
That show was at The El Mocombo in Toronto Ontario Canada. The room holds about 700 people. I attended a surprise concert and album recording of The Rolling Stones there in Match of 1977.
Y'all should react to Tin Pan Alley featuring Johnny Copeland one of the best live performances you'll ever see.
Yes!
Rick Baltimore I agree!!
Stevie used 13 gauge strings. They were so thick he would shred his finger tips and then super glue them back on. If you want to listen to a really good blues song by Stevie play the live version of Tin Pan Alley. Great blues guitarist.
So cool to see his music bringing people such joy.
Stevie died way too young, one can only imagine what his music would have been like 20 or 30 years of him continuously making music
The smiles say it all. I was raised on SRV and have always loved this song, this performance was the best of Texas Flood. You guys should check out Leave My Girl Alone, from Austin City Limits, 1989...soooo good.
SRV baby. One of the greatest to touch a guitar. Great reaction.
Wow !! Great reaction !! I could not take my eyes off your wife. She is beautiful and she seemed to be hanging on every note, and vocal Stevie was playing. You are a lucky man... Keep up the good work !!
Stevie Ray Vaughan was the GOAT.. And you guys make my day.. keep the good vibes coming... #hisfacialexpressionsremindmeofyours #idied 😂
He lived in my town, and we loved him well.
Salute from Austin, Texas.
f there's ever some one who deserves it behind their name, Stevie surely does. Stevie the Great. It's great watching yoy guys sit there selling your merch knowing you're about to get your mind blown. Stevie the Great.
Voodoo Child!!! Love the reaction! Props to both of y’all.
I love that he can just let the guitar speak, no words needed!
Stevie Ray was the GOAT! We will never see another like him. Enjoyed your response, hope to see you do some more of SRV.
Yeah! SRV lived only 15 minutes away at his moms house before he passed. This guy is a legend! Hope to see more reactions. Great one here!
That's the El Mocambo club, in Toronto. I used to live there (Toronto, not the club...). It has two floors with live music and low gee-dee ceilings. It gets mighty hot in there. As you can see. I played there in a couple of punk bands, back in the early 90's.
Plz react to PRIDE AND JOY by SRV. Bars all thru the song
my all time favorites since I was a teenager (53 now) - Stevie Ray Vaughan and Randy Rhoads.
SRV 🐐
Little Wing😉
You gotta check out "Voodoo Child"- Stevie Ray Vaughan LIVE in Austin Texas,
Way over rated song, I wish SRV had recorded other songs cause Voodoo child has been beaten to death over and over, and really not a good SRV performance !
They are coming from " creating"
Stevie always wanted to Jam with Jimi, he played Jimi because Jimi wasn't there.
Song is over played
It's over played to death.
But now with your permission,I can choose more worth songs.....
Positive statement with the merch, straight up. SRV....just a colossal bonus! Love y’all
“I love his facial expressions!”
“Yeah, they remind me of yours.”
My brother, that was some smooth shit right there.. no wonder you scored such a beautiful woman! 👍🏻
