no matter how much they practice, no one will every be like this... SRV = GOAT...it simply just doesn't get any better than him....natural self-taught talent...it flowed through him so effortlessly ...other guitar legends say they felt like beginners on stage with SRV
I'm with you Doug 1000% There are and were MANY great Guitarists, but there is only ONE GENIUS, NO Man, was or is this good, its just not possible!
Actually Jimi Hendrix played his guitar like this too. Then came Stevie Ray Vaughn.
Check out Hey Joe and Wild thing, live by Jimi Hendrix.
@@lawrencesantana7253 ....and did it better.
@@stevew585 if you wanna hear a blues singer who can play a harmonica like Stevie Ray or Gary Moore can play a guitar then you gotta hear "Walk with me Jesus" by Darrell Mansfield live and also "People get ready" live. He is a Christian blues singer. Check it out.
Guys he's probably the best guitarist that there ever was
Not probably... He was and is the greatest ever
SRV was a guitar master in life and legend forever!
A man at one with his instrument. Most people play music; music played through SRV
You don't need to puff on any blunts, Stevie will get you where you need to be. Many greats have come before him and many will come next, but no one will ever play like SRV.
The GOAT will always be the best on this EARTH!! God Bless you, RIP SRV!!❤😢
This is what one of the greatest guitars players of all time looks like.
He was only 35 when he died. Basically still a student of the game, but it was more than enough time for him to establish himself as one of the best guitar players the world has ever seen and probably the best blues guitarist ever.
the greatest one man performance in guitar history... RIP SRV
The entire El Mocambo concert is incredible. His finest work.
RIP Stevie. Gone but never forgotten. Love him..
I've NEVER been into live music, except for SRV. I would watch him live all day, everyday. R.I.H. SRV!! U and ur screaming 🎸 is truly missed, especially down here in Texas. Rock on, up there in paradise brother! Much ❤️
If the artist is REAL, live is the only way to go. A lot of artists today don’t sound like the record. So they sound like trash or they lip sync. True artists sound BETTER live. 😉
Srv played with extremely heavy 13 gauge strings, but he shakes the neck of his guitar to give it that vibrato that made his sound so unique. If you want to hear something SRV wrote himself, try Scuttlebuttin’ but be aware it’s very short.
SRV ~ 🎸🐐 THE goat of all goats
Y'all just witnessed one of the greatest guitarist ever, performing one of the greatest guitar performances ever caught on film.
A quick note about SRV: He was equally a great human as he was a guitarist. His heroes, Albert King, BB King, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, John Lee Hooker, etc, all loved him because he was so humble and gracious. The 2nd thing is that he beat alcohol and drug addiction in late '86 and lived the rest of his life clean and sober and trying to help others get clean. He was truly a gift from the heavens.
Do yourselves a HUGE favor:
**Life Without You at Capitol Theater **
**Ain't Gone 'N Give Up On Love at Capitol Theater**
I would add Couldn’t Stand the Weather also from Capitol Theater.
Yesirree!
Stevie plays that guitar into total submission! Great reaction!! RIP Stevie!🎸❤🎸
Nope -- the guitar never stops fighting back!
Huge SRV fan here, we lost him at such a tender age he was killed in a helicopter crash leaving a venue in Wisconsin. But we are blessed with the wonderful videos and his music will never die. You should check out " Steve Ray Vaughan- Tin Pan Alley (with Johnny Copeland)" Jonny Copeland is one of SRV's guitar heroes and they do this live performance together, it's just magical stuff guys, not to mention the song is Amazing, along with these two blues guitar legends! Although, his closest mentor was Albert King, but he had great respect and admiration for all the blues legends and made sure to show homage to them. RIP:SRV🔥💔 U R Missed best reaction I've seen in quite awhile, thanks guys👍🏻 🔥🤗💖🎸🎶
In the band "Double Trouble" was of course Stevie Ray Vaughan on lead, on the drum kit was Chris Layton and on bass was Tommy Shannon, one note about Stevie he has played shows till his fingers would bleed take a break put crazy glue on his fingertips and go out and play another set, Stevie was a true performer for he would play even if you told him he wouldn't get paid...RIP Stevie and never quit playings for the Angles...
SRV was one of the best ever. His brother, Jimmy once told him, ‘you play guitar like you’re breaking out of jail’.
This is a cover. It was written by Fenton Robinson and Larry Davis, both performed it in the 60s.
As a fan of his... this is amazing. As an actual family member... he is showing off something fierce.
Stevie ray invented the floss dance!! Goated!!!
His brother Jimmy of the fabulous thunderbirds fame tells a story about how when they were young teens Stevie Ray would practice tell he would shread the calluses off his fingers and then crazy glue them back on and go back to practicing , that's how you get this good , it's called dedication
Stevie absolutely put ALL of his emotions into his work. And you can hear it.
I heard you guys wonderin' about "was there a real flood?" "did he live through some personal tragedy?" You have to realize that blues music has been around nearly 4 times as long as either of you. In that length of time some artists become admired, respected, and even worshiped by some kid 40 or 50 years after they have stopped recording and that kid re-records the song. That's what you have here. Stevie Ray always tried to pay it back to the guys that he admired and this is one of those songs. The original artist was a black guy named Larry Davis and he recorded it in 1958. You can find a UA-cam video of his version. The guitar can't compete with SRV's version here, but the lyrics are sweeter and easier to understand. This is the guy that may ACTUALLY have an experience that he drew on when he did the song. If you want to hear a cool version of this song just for fun ( wouldn't make a good reaction video ) search for the one that Stevie Ray does WITH Larry Davis doing the vocals.
Well, there have been plenty of floods in Texas. Around here it's either drought or flood, with an occasional tornado or hurricane, depending of which part of Texas you're in.
STV: The Cat in the Hat with his 59 Strat.
Such genius should be revived in 2023.
All of GenZ should listen to STV.
Stevie is the GOAT of ALL GUITARS
STEVIE stood for love and peace.
His performance shows his passion.
I cry every time I hear him play. How his fingers last? How he do this for hours?
Why the Great Ones taken from us?
There’s a reason…
This whole concert is probably the greatest display of guitar virtuosity ever recorded
Every generation has one great guitarist that stands out the most in their field. The exception to this rule is the rule of many, how can you choose from so much talent. Yes 1963 was a good year to be born.
HA! 47 was even better.
And THAT is how you MASTER your instrument
The Bass player is like wtf am I witnessing here? I'm witnessing Greatness!
That bass player is Tommy Shannon and was with SRV from 1980 to that night in 1990. He knew SRV inside and out. They went into rehab at the same time.
The dance move was actually him hitting the strings behind his back to hitting them in the front position. Kinda like a crossover dribble lol
YES! This guy had it. No one could beat him! He left us way too soon through no fault of his own.
The GOAT.
Absolutely ❤
I’m so glad y’all see, feel and hear his talent. Rest In Power, Stevie. 😎🎸
I was blessed to see him live 3 months before he was killed. I was emotionally drained walking out of the arena after the concert. The man was absolutely remarkable.
My contriburtion: watch this again, and watch any one of his live performances. His eyes are closed most of the time. He opens them once in a while to find the microphone. Otherwise they're closed, and he's 'in the zone'. He felt every note he played, it wasn't intellectual or random like it is with most guitarists.
Saw them just a few months after this was recorded. When he came out, we worked our way up front to the stage. He just blew everyone away. He even wore same shirt! Thank goodness for the general admission shows back in the day, this in 1984. Was lucky enough to see him 3 more times with next 2 at same place as first time. Got to front on those 2 times. Still get chills watching his live at El Mocambo ,almost same show but added couple songs night I saw him. ❤️ ya Stevie
Few people know Stevie didn't play guitar, he was actually possessed by it and the guitar played him
It's either that or Stevie is proof that aliens walk among us .....
👍 Vaughan (pronounced "Von.") Great reaction! 🎸💙
I'm not surprised your impressed, SRV, the BEST to ever walk the Earth!
This is the definition of blues/soul guitar, best slow blues guitar performanch ever recorded IMO
Stevie didn't "play" guitar, he POSSESSED it.
"Shaking out greatness"
Well said my friend
That was just one song! An entire show had to have been crazy.
This is how you get subscribers, likes and views, you put up SRV. Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland and Life Without You will blow you away. Subscribed for this
RIP SRV~❤️
I'm not even a Blues fan , i lean more towards Southern Rock, but SRV is still my favorite musician.
The “Vaughan” is pronounced like “Vonn” like Vonn Miller Super Bowl MVP. And great react.
Someone called the cops. They said he was strangling his guitar with it's own strings.
So jealous of this feelin right here, I remember hearing SRV for the first time. I was also smoking a blunt and had to pull my car over and just listen to the rest while stopped. He was a legend.
Stevie's last name is pronounced like Dawn, only drop the D and add a V. Stevie had this way of walking out on stage and within a few notes, it was like he just zoned out and let the music just pour out of his soul! Stevie's friend, the blues legend B.B. King said that it was like he just tuned into a radio station, and we all got to listen! Stevie's band, Double Trouble, still plays together once in a while with guest guitarists to try and fill Stevie's shoes.....like that can be done. My brother and I have been blessed to jam with them from time to time. They're really nice guys, and real down to earth. Each of them is a true master at their instrument! Chris (Layton), the drummer, and I got along real well, and I hope they're all doing well as I haven't seen them since before Covid. I'll have to try and catch up with them soon. Anyways, welcome to the SRV rabbit hole! Some advice? While there isn't such a thing as a bad Stevie video, you should probably check out a song called Little Wing next.
a couple times during this performance even, you can see him look over at Tommy like "are you hearing this shit?? whoah!" cause even he didn't know where it was coming from sometimes.
Who was the pianist who played the solo on Look at Little Sister? Thanks
@@lanewoods9420 Reese Wynans, a later addition to Double Trouble, Stevie's band.
@@philipcarrell3945 thanks
Thanks for the good music out Germany! And RIP Stevie , one of the best guitarplayers of the world.
I wish you could have seen him live really incredible. SJ
You will never here another guitarist talk smack about SRV..Eric Clapton himself was in awe and admitted he would watch Stevie from the audience when they had a gig together.
Eric Clapton also had emotional breakdowns having to follow him and admitted to bugging out of Stevie's portion of a gig to keep confident in himself. Someone asked Clapton what he thought of SRV when he heard him. Eric replied, "It's time for me to retire."
Life Without You live at Capitol theater is incredible. He wrote it for a friend who passed. He uses a guitar built by the friend (Charlie Wirz) in the video.
Stevie's guitar don't weep it wails!!✌🏽
It weeps, it wails, it hums, it screams, it whispers, it laughs, it moans, it sings . . .
2nd greatest guitarist ever. You picked the perfect video to react to. This is SRV at his god damn best.
Crazy amazing. And how bout that behind the back flip doe!! Crazy huh. 🤘🏼🎸🤘🏼
Life without you Live at Capitol Theater. In my opinion is his Greatest performance on film.
They make me giggle discussing the "flood" context, The song was written by Larry Davis, A black blues players in 1958. He died 1994, so he heard his song made popular again. I'm pretty sure he and other artists Stevie remade got some residuals, Stevie even barely broke even I was told until he got on MTV
When you get a chance you gotta check out “life with out you live at capital theater” that guitar playing by Stevie is next level and there is a message in the song that applies to the social climate even today.
Can't blame ya... "Mind Blown" !! SRV, miss ya, man.
Stevie Ray is THE GOAT 😉
Here are some more SRVs (there are so many) all different (Stevie can do anything) and each one mindblowing in its own way. Mary Had a Little Lamb (Live) ua-cam.com/video/WWU6hpPJG_c/v-deo.html Life Without You Live at the Capitol Theatre, Passaic New Jersey 1985 ua-cam.com/video/DQ4REYdCkTw/v-deo.html Sound check ua-cam.com/video/grBmQwLSlDw/v-deo.html Tin Pan Alley (With Johnny Copeland) ua-cam.com/video/AGPx-ekqZEo/v-deo.html
“Mary had a little lamb” great rhythm groove with keyboardist Reese Wynans
Love your reaction, you seemed to be mesmerized, as I was my first time. Sure hope you keep digging into this rabbit hole, cause each time you think you've seen it all, Stevie blows your mind once again. 🤯 I've loved Jimi Hendrix from the start, the original Voodoo Chile. Then Stevie carried the torch as long as he could. Gotta watch the best blues performance in history...Texas Flood at the El Macombo. Iconic.☮️ to all.
You should check out: Dirty Pool Live at Montreaux 1982; Tin Pan Alley Live at Montreaux 1985 with Johnny Copeland; Riviera Paradise, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Tightrope, Crossfire, Look at Little Sister, Couldn't Stand the Weather all Live at Austin 1989; Love Struck Baby, Ain't Gonna Give Up On Love Live at Daytona Beach 1987; Life Without You Live at Nashville 1987 ( a lot of people recommend the Capitol Theater version of this song, but after getting clean and sober the message in Nashville is closer to his heart).
Tin Pan Alley with guest Johnny Copeland at Montreax 1985 would blow them away, it’s such a great old blues tune and they were all having SO MUCH fun together.❤
Yall should check one of the greatest albums and guitar player Jeff Beck and the live album called Beck & Hammer. Hammer was the man behind the music for the great TV show Miami Vice
Check out the Stephen Tobolowski story about SRV. He's an actor you've seen somewhere (maybe Groundhog Day?) and grew up in the same neighborhood as SRV.
His last name is pronounced "Vawn". The gha is silent. In the blues they're telling stories that are inspired by general life situations.
Can't you imagine be there at the El Macombo a place pretty smale with less than 200 others persons.
What oppotunity in one life,
Daniel, Québec
Stevie Ray is the Best Player by far and I was a player for a few Cover Bands,in the 70’s thru 20. And own a Music store ,and listen to some great players but no one could match him .He also use Heavy strings. There are a few really good Players out there ,but not one has ever try to cover him, S.R.V.is a God,that’s why God took Him.R.I.P.Brother
He plays better behind his back then most people play normally
Really enjoyed your reaction to the fantastic SRV. Thank you!
💙💙💙💙💙… Great reaction!! Subscribed!
I was fortunate enough to have saw him and Jeff Beck in Louisville KY back in 89 wow what a show that was!!! RIP Stevie Ray Vaughan
When it comes to guitar players, Stevie Ray is the G.O.A.T!
Your the first i have ever seen. That puts the artist in a bigger picture than yourself. How fantastic. You two are great. I love you both. And when it comes time to comment. You are spot on. GREAT JOB. THANK YOU.
SRV is the GOAT! he grew up in my neighborhood! AMAZING!
Every now and again Stevie would remind us that we're all just mortal and he was different
There will never be another this good. The peak of the highest mountain.
Awesome reaction guys 💯👌...check out "Tin Pan Alley" live with Johnny Copeland for some deep Stevie blues. 💯💯%🔥🔥🔥
The 🐐
SRV one of the greats! Maybe check out Dirty Pool live at Montreux.
I'm sure someone has mentioned it, but I'll say it anyways ... he plays 'Voodoo Child' behind his back, too, in one of his videos. ..... Just sharin'. Y'all stay cool. Peace.
From first note to the last the man’s skills were cold nasty you have to love it! So you say you want to play the blues? The man just showed you how!
A drum man myself and totally agree with you on guitar statement... You should check out Tool for some phenomenal drumming on top of everything else... Everyone starts with The Pot, which I don't personally understand but to each their own I guess... I'd recommend 46 & 2, Lateralus, The Grudge, Schism, Sober... Really they're all good
This why he's the GREATEST GUITAR PLAYER EVER ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET BAR NONE! ❤❤❤❤
I was very fortunate . I got to see SRV in the early 80’s in Santa Fe NM at the Indian center. Saw him play the guitar behind his back, and also saw him play the guitar with his teeth.
Texas Flood was written in 11958, but Stevie Ray Vaughan puts his soul into everything he plays and makes it his own.
thanks! Oh, hell - it's flooding down in Texas as I type this.... Stevie was one-of-a-kind... with his eccentric dress, his gravelly voice, and most of all: his incredible guitar... known for breaking very heavy-gauge strings... b/c - listen! and I always love the reactions to the "turnaround".. THEN sangin'... most amazing GOAT... appreciate your reactions! (also: best "Stank Face" Evah! lol) - hope you do some more....
Sorry you're in the flooding part. Just rain here in Texoma. At least we can listen the Stevie Ray and Number 1.
@@gloriasueb Hey, Gloria - thanks for the kind thoughts - I'm not actually IN the flooding part of Texas (I'm in Wisconsin) - but I do have some extended family that is there... which is why I made note of it... Greetings!
@@GinMae that's funny! My family's from Oshkosh.
@@gloriasueb No wonder we felt a connection! lol
Is it not madness that through out music history we get blessed now and then with these amazing musical geniuses and they always become super famous and end up dying waaay to young! That is one thing that has always bugged the shit out of me. In every genre of music you have those that stand out and most are "game changers" to music but we never get to keep them long sadly.
Stevie Ray Vaughan was a one of a kind he not only played behind his back and head but he played with his teeth, backwards, one hand, broken string, switched guitar in the middle of a solo and never missed a beat, tune his guitar while playing, adjust his AMP'S while playing one handed, even using his elbow playing Little Wing but he is the only one who played behind his back while singing long then anyone ever could. Stevie Ray started playing guitar when he was 7 yrs old when his older brother Jimmy Vaughan started playing guitar, Jimmy Vaughan is a great guitarist In his own right who had a band called The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Although Stevie Ray's career only span a short 7 years he accomplished so much starting with the release of his album Texas Flood that he recorded in only 2 days and he is in The Austin Music Hall Of Fame, in 2000 was inducted into The Blues Hall Of Fame, he won 6 Grammys, 10 Austin Music Awards, 5 W.C.Handy Awards ,Entertainer Of The Year, Instermental Of The Year and in 2015 he was inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in only 7 years. Stevie Ray was an amazing man with a heart of gold, he made alot of money but never spent alot on himself and bought hand me down guitars like the one he's playing, that guitar used to belong to another musician named Christopher Cross and he named it Lenny after his first wife Lenora Baily who he married in 1979but divorced in 1988 so then he renamed it #1. The song Texas Flood was written 2 men in 1955 and released in 1958 named Larry Davis and Joseph Scott and alot of artists use it including Stevie Ray and the song helped Stevie Ray's career catapult to what it was so when Stevie Ray found out Larry Davis never got paid his royalties Stevie Ray paid Larry Davis out of his own packet. Stevie Ray was loved and respected by many great Blues artists and Stevie Ray said his biggest influence was his big brother Jimmy Vaughan and then all the great Blues artists after that like B.B King, Buddy Guy, Muddy Watters, Booker T.Jones and especially Albert King who actually was Stevie Ray's godfather. It was a very sad day August 27,1990 when at the age of 35 Stevie Ray Vaughan was killed in a helicopter crash in East Troy Wisconsin after playing a show.alot of people miss him. Sorry about my comment being so long but I et really carried away talking about Stevie Ray Vaughan. Love your reactions and I love that you're the only reactor out of many many reactors out there that noticed Stevie Ray shakes his guitar to get that Stevie Ray Vaughan sound I love.
I'm from New Zealand....back in 1989, Stevi headlined the "pop concert" in Auckland city. I was a stage hand for this, and a dozen more shows. Through guitar player magazine was where I first came into contact with the man who single handedly revived the blues....a TRUE gentleman, and sadly, sadly missed monster of a musician. I believe from that, that I was one of the first people in my country to get his epiphonal first album, Texas flood, featuring this track. He reportedly never, played the same thing, the same way twice. Most of his vids are awesome....but this particular video, in my opinion, rates as one of, if not THE BEST electric blues guitar performance EVER RECORDED.
I remember standing next to a beautiful blonde woman (Stevis companion at that time), during his soundcheck....soaking it all up, and unconsciously singing along, when this beautiful woman asked if I knew Stevi. Only from his records, and what I'd read of him, I remember saying, and what an honor it was to see and hear him live. I was (and still am) totally in awe watching and listening as the band ran through a few intros and choruses. When they finished, I watched as Stevi walked towards us, then when he reached us, she asked my name and introduced me to one of my guitar heroes......His hands were huge compared to mine, and I still remember how gently he shook my hand.......one of my greatest memories. We talked for what seemed like hours....but was only a few minutes, and I'll never ever forget it.
I got to spend my breaks with Stevis guitar tech, Eddie Martinez (I hope that's right...) and even got to play some of his guitars.....included his beat up vintage strat that he plays on this track.....his action, string height and gauge made it impossible for me to play......those hands I shook, were truly on another level. Later during his concert, as I stood side of stage with Eddie, Stevis JTM 50 Marshall amp suddenly died and Eddie grabs me and pulls me on stage to quickly swap it out, and Stevi gave us a nod, and a smile....getting tearful just thinking about it.
My father was my first guitar influence, and after receiving Texas Flood, I played him a few tracks, and he was impressed.....my father wasn't often impressed with my choices of music (and it's only grown more extreme and diverse over the years...lol...) but I remember coming home from I don't know where, when dad told me that Stevi had died in a helicopter crash......I remember walking away and crying for about an hour......feeling crushed.
He was in a league of his own....some called him the embodiment of Jimi Hendrix.....Stevi Ray Vaughan single handedly brought the blues back into mainstream consciousness and left behind a legacy for the world.....a great guy....my friend....He's with God now, and I believe he's jamming with all the 'cats' he dug, and who dug him that sadly have passed away too.....including my dad.
Rest in Peace.....all of you, and thanks for all you've left us.....Love, from an eternally grateful, aspiring guitarist.
Great reaction! I love to see people witness guitar greatness for the 1st time!! Gets me everytime too!!
i seen him live in 1984 glad you people like he's God's Guitar people now RIP SRV
Probably the most under appreciated, great electric guitar master of them all.
“It seems like when he shakes it, he’s shakin out greatness…”
That’s
What

Said
Knowing how you like this vid, check out Gary Moore - Seperate ways - live with the solo intro. You will love it.
and the amazing Double Trouble, flowing right along with SRV
He is the greatest guitar player that ever lives Jimmy Hendrix was excellent to but remember Jimi Hendrix was during the psychopsychedelic age I saw him it would stack I’m 77 years old I’ve seen both these artists and many more Pink Floyd Lynyrd Skynyrd Ozzy Osbourne you name it I’ve seen him by Stevie ray And he’s the only white man that has ever been inducted into the blues Hall of Fame he won’t he died at 35 in the helicopter helicopter crash he was on his way to his next gig and his brother was going to go with them to his brother is great and the guitar brother is the one that taught him when he was little You are to read the bio on him and you would really appreciate every song all his songs are great all of them there’s a queen Liz the queen
The Original Floss move! 😅
He was born in Texas and ya it floods there bigtime the biggest raindrops I've ever seen hurt when they hit you. Peace 2u and God Bless y'all
You would probably like the song Life without you“ Capitol Theatre Passaic New Jersey 1985. It’s another live performance that is spectacular!
His from Big D Dallas Texas and it does flood here. Every time there a hurricane. Ever Radio Station play's this song in the whole state of Texas. They play Texas Flood. ❤
He was the best ever and I love the other greats like Hendrix, Les Paul, and Eric Clapton to name a few. Saw his like in 1988. Everyone left stunned.
I saw him in Noblesville, IN at Deer Creek.... $10 carload show on a Friday (or Sat) night. Holy shit what a show!!!!!
My Hero Rip SRV🇦🇺🎸👍
TALENT for sure. No one does this without putting in work as well. And work has different meanings for different people. SRV was different. WOW
