Stevie is the best to ever play the blues. The great BB king said " Ive said playing the blues is like being born black twice. Stevie missed on both counts, But I never noticed" There will never be another SRV.
The man became the guitar. No offense to anyone but today's music cannot hold a candle to what we had. So glad these greats were part of my youth. Vicki
Wow. I'm not the only one ignored here. Seems like you, me, and others post some intelligent, factual, witty posts , while someone who can barely put a SENTENCE together, gets love 💕 hugs kisses accolades for a moronic post. People just aren't intelligent 🧠 anymore
You just doscovered the GOAT of blues guitar and arguably the GOAT of all guitarist period. Such an amazing talent. Voodoo child shouls be next. It was originally done by The great legend Jimmy Hnedrix. Stevie took an already great song and added an extra bit of spice to it
Not only did he do it, but he asked Jimi's father for permission to do it. His father said absolutely and gave SRV Jimi's wah pedal to play it as well.
So you found the goat 🐐? 😂This is a lot for a first time. Stevie Ray Vaughan is something you’ve never seen before. I can name provably a dozen amazing songs. Voodoo Child, Life Without You, Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland. That’s a good start. I could listen to Stevie all day. He and Elvis are who I’ve been obsessed with for a while now. I’ve been watching your Elvis reactions. 🤩 👑 Glad you found SRV. He’s the goat.
I was at Stevie Ray Vaughn's last concert the night his helicopter crashed after the show at Alpine Valley, Wisconsin August 26th 1990. The next morning when I heard the horrible news was one of the saddest days of my life. The lineup was SRV, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray and Buddy Guy. RIP SRV!
Some fun things about stevie and this performance: This whole set was done impromptu at the El Macambo in Canada...so nothing about this was rehearsed. Stevie also never played any song the same way twice, so his band had to read him well to know what to do to keep up with him. If you wanna continue with some of his work look up: Little Wing and Voodoo Chile (El macambo version), Riviera Paradise, Cross fire, and Leave my little girl alone (Austin city limits performances), look at little sister with Jeff Healey, and pride and joy! Also, not only could he play behind his back. He could also play behind his head, with his teeth and by shaking the guitar. If you wanna see the wildest stuff look up his performance of third stone from the sun at the El macambo. The smoothest guitar switch after a broken string? Look up look at little sister at Austin city limits. **EDIT: Another cool one is the Texas flood jam session with Albert King. Albert King didn't like anyone to sit in with him and play but he let stevie do it and you can see the respect they had for each other. Enjoy!!
Welcome!!! Loved your reaction. I was blessed to have spent time with Stevie from 1987-1990, and I can tell you that he was as humble as he was talented. You want to see raw Stevie, watch the Sound Check video (with the leopard coat). I’d wait on that one though and take a listen to a few other performances. “Voodoo Chile” and “Mary Had a Little Lamb” from Austin, 1989 and his performance of “Tin Pan Alley” with pal Johnny Copeland. All FIRE!!! He was soooo good. Couldn’t read a note, all heart. Glad you discovered my pal! ❤Donna G
The GOAT OF GOATS...He can play jazz (he doesn’t play it much), but he does it just as good! The Texas Blues Master! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 The Drummer aint laze, that’s one of the hardest thing for a drummer to do, to hold a beat like that is one of the hardest things for a drummer to do. The bassist is world class also! One of the greatest bottoms, next to Led Zeppelin!
"Bottoms?.......What does that mean? U must be a musician? That means something else ENTIRELY as you probably already know? Yep, thats the one! lol (yeah I know, I'm sorry. 4 sum reason I cudnt resist?)
Stevie Ray was the best. Definitely watch him at Capitol Theatre perform "Life without you" where he continues to play after losing a tooth (semi spoiler there) and there is a Rehearsal video out there I think it's Stevie Ray Vaughn Mic Check- you'll know it's the right one when you see Stevie wearing a Leopard print full-length coat and a cowboy hat. Dude was a phenom. Also, Little Wing at El Mocambo will blow your mind. As much as you want to close your eyes to listen, keep them open!!! His talent is a blessing to behold.
Also duets with BB King, Albert Collins, Johnny Copeland and Stevie Wonder and so many more, all these men were Stevie's mentors. He once performed a concert where BB King was warming up for him and he told his manager if that ever happened again he was fired because you put these men FIRST always.
The magic of Stevie. He earned and deserves his place as an absolute Legend in music history. He was so humble about his talent, saying it was a gift from God that he tried hard to repay. Paid in Full, Stevie. Paid in Full.
11:24 check out Stevie Ray's version of Jimi's Voodoo Chile live in Austin tx - the version you want is 8 mins long and he's wearing a black shirt in a black leather vest.
Oh no…you’ve gone an done it now. SRV reactions now?! Warms my heart. Can’t tell you how much anticipation I had during the video, just waiting for you to get to the part where he played behind his back. Your reaction on that part was priceless. You want some really chill SRV… Lenny and Riviera Paradise are your tracks.
I used to go to this bar...saw a small hand painted sign.. Stevie Ray Vaughan and double trouble tonight. Never heard of them, went to another bar, got side tracked, didn't make it back. My friend saw him with about 20 people in audience. He was amazing. He went to Houston and became famous.. I'm still kicking myself
I love this reaction buddy!!! I tell everyone who will listen that this is the most incredible live performance I have ever seen and expect to see. Unmatched talent, skill and raw soul.
No one.....and I mean...no one can bend the strings like Stevie. Watch the Albert King and Stevie vid. Albert watches Stevie with such awe and Stevie loves the way Albert plays. Great vid
.... dude, you've just scratched his surface. This badass does not have ONE bad performance. Start diggin' into his entire catalog. Enjoy. ..... btw.... excellent reaction , man. Same way I looked in 1981 when I saw him for the first time. I'll be checking in on your channel. Thanks
The entire "El Mocambo" show is epic. One of the best ever recorded. You need to sit down with that whiskey and a cigar and watch it beginning to end. I've said this before on other reaction videos to this video, but I will say it again. This was a time when SRV was fighting his demons of drugs and alcohol and it is documented that he was extremely high on cocaine during this show. That was part of the reason, besides pouring out his heart and soul, for the profuse sweating. SRV was, is and will always be the GOAT!
Every video you watch of Stevie Ray will be live and every video will blow your Socks off! I highly recommend Voodoo Child next. He did Jimi Hendrix cover and many think SRV's version is better. I love em both and thank God i lived in those times. ❤
I've asked for a long long time for someone, anyone, to react to Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert King, Paul Butterfield, B.B King ALL playing together! I listed their names in that order, because that's how the video had listed them. IT IS PHENOMENAL!!! Deep dive on SRV is a GIFT! Lol. Loved your reaction! Thank you so much. Loved your reaction
"Lenny" was one of my daddy's all time favorites... we played it for him daily when he was in a coma before he passed away. He was 80, that was 5 years ago... I will always be Daddy's girl.
Honestly, I have probably watched 100 different reactions to this song and this is by far my favorite! I love your reaction, its perfect...genuine, excited, appreciative and funny AF! This is by far the best reaction video I have ever seen, love to see it, your a legend in my book for this one!
Check the drummer AND bass player on Voodoo Child. SRV goes w/ a fast tempo and the drummer and bass player kick into high gear and nail it right there with him
Chris Layton the drummer was with Stevie the longest. He started with Stevie in 1978 till Stevies death in 1990. Stevie knew how to playthe drums and was. Very particular. He showed Chris how he wanted it done. Stevie was the star and the band happily just went with it because of his talent and he in tu4n totally 5rut3d them.
Yeah, that was an off the wall comment, lol. The chips to lay down a solid back beat to a virtuoso guitar player who never plays it the same way twice is rare. Double trouble is awesome.
My favorite guitarist & the one that got me into playing about 3 years ago, was feeling your energy even though I've seen this 1000 times minimum lmao. Life Without You @ the Capitol Theater, or Little Wing @ the El Mocambo is what I'd react to next from him. Both shows he's at other-worldly levels of playing, it still doesn't make sense after watching so many times.
The best , realest reaction yet . I have seen countless reactions and the reactors are all stunned with this masterpiece by Stevie . He has made a lot of converts in the " number 1 " arguments. What is really nice is that the younger folks that never heard him are flabbergasted . I'm glad they are getting a chance to appreciate him. GOAT .
Seen him in '79 in a traditionally Black blues club, The Bluebird Lounge in Fort Worth , Tx. 150 people and 2 white boys, ( me and my buddy.) Stevie Ray and the band blew the roof off, and that joint was jumping. The Cops had to stop the show WAY after closing time. One of the BEST nights of my LIFE. I'm 64 and this is a very good memory.
Old, so I forgot, " Play that guitar White Boy!!! One lady, for over 4 hours, standing behind us. Damn Lavata, from the bottom of my soul I hope you and Robert had a wonderful life!
Someone could write a paper on the mathematical topology transitions that happen there, laugh. I got to see him three times and he and his band were always incredible beyond belief.
Love Steve Ray. He was in my home town in 85 and missed him because I was in the hospital having my daughter. Damn the luck. Fun fact Steve Ray can't read music.
This is perfect. I just got out of my car and was listening to SRV. You just can't go wrong. My favorite song period is his version of Jimmie Hendrix 's Little Wing. Other than that one, close your eyes and point. ❤️✌️
Wrong call on the drummer being boring. Chris Layton (drums) and Tommy Shannon (bass) are a phenomenal bottom end. They are tight and are just staying in the pocket while Stevie KILLS IT. They are also reading Stevie and his phrasing so they know when to change tempo.
Lol....subbed....”life without you”, live, at the capital theater, passaic, new jersey, 9/21/1985...its every bit as insane as this, AND, a reactor staple, like this performance, every reactor has done it, 90% of reactors...you’ll need a break again...great reaction:D
Great reaction, I haven't laughed this much in a long time. You're an absolute character. As much personality as SRV got guitar skills. I needed this. Thank you!
He's from Oak Cliff,Texas (south side of Dallas). I was in rehab when he died. He's been a recovery inspiration. I got to stand outside the cemetery during his funeral
The Blues is nothin' but feelin'. ❤It came from Texas❤ Stevie Ray is relaxed.❤ THEE BEST GUITAR ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET❤ BAR NONE❤ MY SWEET BROTHER❤❤❤❤
One of the best SRV reactions I’ve seen, and I’ve seen a LOT!!! Check out “Voodoo Chile” and “Mary had a little lamb” from Austin City Limits. Prepare for your mind to be blown.
To me the best videos of him to watch is his last time at Austin city limits. He kicked the booze and drugs and his playing showed it. Far better than when he was high. RIP Stevie. You are greatly missed. 😢
Stevie was SPECIAL. 🐐 status for sure. Check out his performance of Lenny, Little Wing and Love Struck Baby also from the El Mocambo show - also Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland from Montreaux Jazz Festival, Voodoo Child (El Mocambo or Austin City Limits 1989), Riviera Paradise from Austin City Limits 1989, Rude Mood from Montreaux Jazz Festival 1982. But be sure to wear birth control before watching 🤣
You mentioned you wanted to hear them rehearsing, you should react to the video "best sound check ever". It may not be a rehearsal but you see what he can do after basically just waking up. Also check out the jacket.
Brother Ricky Hubbard here, you can't miss Steve Ray Vaughan "VOODOO CHILD" fire 1989 last night in Austin Texas this man will blow you away, rabbit hole goes very deep you can't miss on any one Life Without You at the Capital Theater what a ride. "SEMPER FI"DEVILDAWG" 🇺🇲🇺🇲 Been with you a long minute Bless ya brother. 🙏 Little Wing ElMacombo mind blowing again.
A lot of great guitarists are fearless about improvising and not knowing what they’re gonna play until they play it. Stevie was different because he never fucked up. Ever. It always sounded like he knew how it was going to end when he simply didn’t.
If you want to hear a rehearsal and sound check take a look at this one, Stevie Ray Vaughan - Best Guitar Player - Sound Check - What?! The man is the GOAT!
Jimi Hendrix was one of Stevie Ray Vaughan‘s idols. You really should react to Voodoo Chile’ Live from Austin City Limits 1989. In my opinion, that is the best version of Voodoo Chile’ performed live. One of my favorite quotes is, “Jimi Hendrix invented it, Stevie Ray Vaughan perfected it.“ I also like a quote by Eric Clapton. “ Stevie Ray Vaughan doesn’t play music, he channels it.“ another good one is Life Without You Live at the Capitol Theater.
Stevie's guitar idol was his brother Jimmy Vaughan of the Fabulous Thunderbirds Thunderbirds. His Number 1 guitar is worth almost a million dollars today. Jimmy has that guitar today in Texas.
No one like him on the guitar. Was crushed when he passed. He was the best.
Vicki
Don’t care if you offended anyone!
Greatest quote of all time?
“Truth won’t make you many friends. But it will make you the right ones.”
Preach it, Brother! ("The CAT in a HAT with a STRAT !! ")
Closest today is gary clrak jr
You have just been introduced to the Texas blue's and the best blues guitarist to ever play them. RIP SRV
"Everybody in the first row's pregnant" Perfect man, couldn't have put it any better!!
Stevie Ray Vaughan. Still making love to women, even though he's gone.
The Texas Blues Man.... I cried like a baby when he died 😢❤
Wow. I'm not the only one ignored here. Seems like you, me, and others post some intelligent, factual, witty posts , while someone who can barely put a SENTENCE together, gets love 💕 hugs kisses accolades for a moronic post. People just aren't intelligent 🧠 anymore
Life without you in New Jersey. Voodoo Chile Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland
I’m from Oak Cliff (in Dallas) where Stevie is from. They just opened a park in his honor this past weekend.
I am too! Haven’t lived there for years, but I didn’t know they named a park after him-that is so awesome! 🤘🏼
That’s awesome! I’m glad to know he’s still being celebrated ❤
You just doscovered the GOAT of blues guitar and arguably the GOAT of all guitarist period. Such an amazing talent. Voodoo child shouls be next. It was originally done by The great legend Jimmy Hnedrix. Stevie took an already great song and added an extra bit of spice to it

Toronto

Love the list and the arrangement. It’ll be a great ride for this gentleman.
I was going to comment, but you nailed it !! The only thing I will add is his soundcheck where he is half asleep, but just kills it.
The drummer isn’t lazy he’s showcasing Stevie Ray
Exactly that’s blues drumming 101
It's not like SRV is playing from a set either, all the drummer can do is keep a low blues beat going and let the guy play guitar
He played rhythm guitar and lead at the same time. Legendary
For someone who states at the beginning "I'm not going to talk over this" you did a good job!!! RIP SRV
When I saw Stevie Ray it was like that. You just stare in awe of greatness.
Just keep doing more Stevie Ray, every one will be happy.
Greatest guitarist ever he’s a beast I love him so much RIP legend

Tin Pan Alley ... Stevie with Johnny Copeland is pure blues magic
One of my favorites
YUP
Absolutely
Definitely!!❤
Absofuckinglutely!!! My favorite live performance by far!
11:24 check out Stevie Ray's version of Jimi's Voodoo Chile live in Austin tx - the version you want is 8 mins long and he's wearing a black shirt in a black leather vest.
Your reaction was as it should be. There is no better blues guitarist/singer than SRV.
He’s without a doubt, The GOAT
You are in for a treat going down this Rabbit hole ♡♡♡ He is the GOAT♡♡♡♡
He's making love to the guitar 🔥
Oh no…you’ve gone an done it now. SRV reactions now?! Warms my heart.
Can’t tell you how much anticipation I had during the video, just waiting for you to get to the part where he played behind his back. Your reaction on that part was priceless.

Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland ♥ ♡ life without you♡ you can play any of his music and never be disappointed ♡
You’ve just seen the greatest guitarist ever!
The entire El Mocambo show is amazing. You should react to it from start to finish.👍👍
SRV was the GOAT for sure. Your next one from him should probably be Little Wing. Great reaction, Ray!
No one.....and I mean...no one can bend the strings like Stevie. Watch the Albert King and Stevie vid. Albert watches Stevie with such awe and Stevie loves the way Albert plays. Great vid

Love this enthusiastic and appreciative reaction to our Stevie! We love him and always will. RIP Stevie 1954-1990.
This guy is literally top three ever guitar gods
The entire "El Mocambo" show is epic. One of the best ever recorded. You need to sit down with that whiskey and a cigar and watch it beginning to end. I've said this before on other reaction videos to this video, but I will say it again. This was a time when SRV was fighting his demons of drugs and alcohol and it is documented that he was extremely high on cocaine during this show. That was part of the reason, besides pouring out his heart and soul, for the profuse sweating. SRV was, is and will always be the GOAT!
Everybody in the 1st row.......
That's some funny stuff.
SVG didn't play music...he felt it, and it came out through the guitar. Arguably the best guitarist ever!
Every video you watch of Stevie Ray will be live and every video will blow your Socks off! I highly recommend Voodoo Child next. He did Jimi Hendrix cover and many think SRV's version is better. I love em both and thank God i lived in those times. ❤
Voodoo Child (Jimi cover) Live in Nashville and Life Without You at the Capital Theater.
Awesome job, Stevie Ray Vaughan- Life Without You - 9/21/85- Capitol Theatre Passaic N.J. is very very good also, he loses a tooth during performance
SRV The best blues 👏👏👏👏👏👏👍🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇧🇷.
I so enjoy watching folks discovering Stevie Ray for the first time. Thanks!
"Life Without You", live at Capitol theater is going to blow your mind even more.
RAY!!!! Stevie Ray?!?! Thank you! I'm about to watch now... everything at that show was epic from the video I have seen.
"Lenny" was one of my daddy's all time favorites... we played it for him daily when he was in a coma before he passed away. He was 80, that was 5 years ago... I will always be Daddy's girl.
We're 3 generations born and raised in Texas and two more generations after me
I have this show on DVD, and though there are many great songs, I still think Lenny was, and is, something especially special.
Honestly, I have probably watched 100 different reactions to this song and this is by far my favorite! I love your reaction, its perfect...genuine, excited, appreciative and funny AF! This is by far the best reaction video I have ever seen, love to see it, your a legend in my book for this one!
I grew up listening to him. He was an amazing guitarist and honestly I feel like one of the greatest. ❤ love your reactions ! Keep em comin 💯
Calling the drummer lazy while SRV is out there performing guitar miracles is hilarious. 🤣😂 The drummer being human, while SRV being a guitar god.
Check the drummer AND bass player on Voodoo Child. SRV goes w/ a fast tempo and the drummer and bass player kick into high gear and nail it right there with him
Solid.

Yeah, that was an off the wall comment, lol. The chips to lay down a solid back beat to a virtuoso guitar player who never plays it the same way twice is rare. Double trouble is awesome.
No, the drummer was just doing what he need to do.
My favorite guitarist & the one that got me into playing about 3 years ago, was feeling your energy even though I've seen this 1000 times minimum lmao. They don't come like the legends anymore. 🤘
Or any Austin city limits srv performances.....mind blowing .....loved the reaction to Texas flood
Someone could write a paper on the mathematical topology transitions that happen there, laugh. I got to see him three times and he and his band were always incredible beyond belief.
LOVED This! DIG DEEP my friend!
Stevie was taken wayyy too soon! But OMGoodness... what he left behind is unreal!!!
You definitely have to play more of him.
I can’t imagine what we missed out on after stevie died
Life without you at capital theater one of the greatest performances.
"I play in sentences, Stevie plays in paragraphs".....B.B. King.

Great reaction, I haven't laughed this much in a long time. You're an absolute character. As much personality as SRV got guitar skills.
I needed this. Thank you!
I saw Stevie LIVE twice before his death and this brings back VIBES of a life time. Peace brother RIP Stevie
Same here!
Same here twice!
Yeah.... Saw him a few times back when he used to play around Austin....And at Farm Aid.. It was a whole different lifetime...
Texas Blues. Fantastic live performances. SRV GOAT
He's from Oak Cliff,Texas (south side of Dallas). I was in rehab when he died. He's been a recovery inspiration. I got to stand outside the cemetery during his funeral

yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssssss ty ty ty
Greatest live performance of ALL TIME!!!!!!
Every time I see a reaction to him switching to playing behind his back I love it :)
One of the best SRV reactions I’ve seen, and I’ve seen a LOT!!!
Check out “Voodoo Chile” and “Mary had a little lamb” from Austin City Limits. Prepare for your mind to be blown.
If you want to hear rehearsals there is a video of him doing a sound check! It is one of the coolest things you'll hear😅😅😊😊😊
Lmfao 🤣😆"he's got nubs now"😆
You mentioned you wanted to hear them rehearsing, you should react to the video "best sound check ever". It may not be a rehearsal but you see what he can do after basically just waking up. Also check out the jacket.
"and everybody in the first row is pregnant".....HAHAHA!
Stevie’s mates were Double Trouble and they were good together. Bass and drums.

Nobody will ever play like that again. He was one of a kind.
Check out Tin Pan Alley/Dirty Pool Live In Tokyo.
The thing with SRV, Eric Clapton said it best. He never looks down at his guitar, he knows what he is playing 5 notes before he gets there
A lot of great guitarists are fearless about improvising and not knowing what they’re gonna play until they play it.
Next to all my kids births and meeting my future wife, this was something I’ll never forget to have heard and seen at diff times. Epic.
The good Lord took his time with Stevie
:) love SRV. He is a masterclass in dynamics and feel every time he plays.
SRV was and still is the GOAT! The man was a legend who is dearly missed.❤
Best guitarist who ever lived; hands down. It's not even close.
