SRV is definitely the greatest. I had the privilege to meet him a couple of times before he really got big. One of the nicest most humble people you could meet. I have a story Ill share later. Check out Texas Flood live at the Macombo you will see why we say he is the greatest. He could do anything Hendrix could do. In fact Hendrix was one of his idols. He is truly a legend here in Texas. Texas Blues at its best. Another great song is Pride and Joy. Eric Clapton once said that the only person that could make him put his guitar down and quit would be Stevie. So glad you guys are checking him out. I really miss him. RIP Stevie.
Hendricks was Rock roll, Stevie Ray is blues, but Stevie loved Jimmy. They were both powerhouse in their days and they're both up in heaven playing together
Stevie Ray is one of my personal favorites, a consummate blues man and a technical genius. A great way to get a good look at them both is to check out their live versions of Voodoo Chile. Jimi wrote it and after he passed, Stevie Ray was the only one Jimi's father would approve to cover the song.

@@FreedomFighter2112 Those are some great guitarists. Most would have Eddie Van Halen higher on that list and although he is great, I dont think you can put Santana as #2 unless youre saying this is your personal favorites and not an objective list. Plus no Jeff Beck, Les Paul or Prince? Id also put Joe Satriani and Mark Knopfler on there as well.
Here as a guitar player and student, listen guys, Jimmy Hendrix essentially invented the distorted guitar, transitioning the genre of rock from plain acoustics to harder metal. He basically influenced all your favorite guitar players you mention. He may not be the best skillfully, but as a pioneer of rock music guitar, SRV can have that title, Jimmy Hendrix is a true legend and deserves his respect a the one of the most soulful ever. No one could express their emotions through guitar notes like him, listen to his performance at Woodstock Star Spangled banner 🇺🇸
Yep, every guitar player will cred Hendrix with his innovative and creative use of distortion, feedback, but SRV took that knowledge to a different level.
So I'm a 52year old white guy who mostly Grew up metal but I listen to rap a little bit more than what I used to. Your channel is in my top 10 channels of favorite reaction channels to watch. You guys always bring a fun attitude and Good vibes.
Y'all gotta check out SRV's "Texas Flood" live @ the El Mocambo show. Probably one of his greatest performances ever, definitely his greatest show alongside Austin. Other-worldly.
yall gotta see Prince play the guitar, he was definitely goat status. The song below is arguably one of the best solos of all time. Prince literally making his guitar weep. Prince, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne and others -- "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"
@@gracieb.3054 He's not the only one who thinks that way. I don't think Prince was anywhere NEAR goat status and his name should not be mentioned in the same breath as SRV, the actual GOAT.
Whenever someone mentions Prince's guitar skills, all they talk about is this ONE performance of WMGGW. That's it. That's not ability, that's showing off.
Eric Clapton talked about how while he's playing, he's always thinking about where his fingers are going next, but Stevie just let all those notes flow out of him effortlessly. Legend.
I love the fact that you guys are having these discussions. Brings me back to when I was a kid sitting with friends arguing about which band or musician was better.
Stevie plays 3 or 4 Hendrix songs. Voodoo Child, Little Wing, Third Stone From the Sun and Castles Made of Sand. They're both great players. It's like choosing between apples and oranges.
I love watching you guys react to guys that can really play. All the guys that you are mentioning were great in their own way, but then Stevie came along, he took it to a different level. What E.C. said about Stevie was " he's an open channel and music just flows out, after seeing him for the first time he makes people want to take up guitar and he makes people that are accomplished and have jammed with him want to quit playing!
You have had some great guitarists guys but may I suggest another one by the name of Jeff Healey. He was a Canadian guitarist who was blind but he definitely had a gift. He and Stevie Ray Vaughan performed together. If you can find the video, check out his song "See The Light" where he performs live. It will blow your mind.
Jimi Hendrix was the greatest guitarist of his GENERATION, Stevie Ray Vaughan looked up to Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, he said that all the time, before he passed away.. That's Why Stevie Ray Vaughan has So much Soul in his Music, Because Of Guitarist like, Jimi Hendrix..
So many guitarists stand on Jimi's shoulders and many others' shoulders. Jimi stood on the shoulders of those before him too. Stevie knows it. The Hendrix family is notoriously strict about Jimi's estate, but they gave Stevie the blessing to play his music and they even gave him some of Jimi's equipment to use. I also recommend watching the videos of Stevie jamming with Albert King (Blues legend).
Yes the Hendrix estate is very strict about how Jimi's "brand" is being used however it has absolutely nothing to do with that man's legacy, it's all about the all mighty greenback to them. As far as them giving SRV their blessings or giving SRV some of Jimi's equipment to use isn't true. SRV was perfecting Jimi's music long before Jimi's brand was trademarked & they gained full control of his estate. As far as the equipment you're referring to.... yes SRV had a wah wah pedal that Hendrix used bit it was purchased at an auction by Jimmy Vaughn (SRVs older brother) & given to SRV & had to be completely reworked & only the shell is original
@wolfganghumboldt4830 It's really a damn shame that whoever is in charge of the Hendrix estate is so greedy. There's a wealth of Hendrix material they have. They're all about making every last dime they can & don't get me wrong, what they have in my opinion is beyond priceless but this isn't the way Jimi would've wanted things. This was fairly recently (few yrs) that they pulled this stunt, long after SRV was killed. I'm not sure what the implications are covering another artist music but I think if SRV was still alive he would've done it anyways lol
One of Stevie Ray's friends, Canadian guitarist Jeff Healey is definitely worth checking out too - See the Light (live) :) Stevie greatly admired Jimi as well as played with Blues greats like Albert King :) All amazing players...Jimi's sound was innovative and more rock than blues.

Texas Flood Live at the El Macombo, by Stevie Ray Vaughan, brothers. The man plays the guitar BEHIND HIS BACK and solos. Just amazing playing from note 1.
SRV could not read sheet music, self-taught, he learned by listening to a song being played and could begin playing it before it usually finished playing, in his own way, of course.
YOU GUYS HAVE GOT TO LISTEN TO THE BAND CALLED “DEATH”. Not the new metal band, but the 1970s band of the same name that comprised of some African American brothers from Detroit, I believe..They played some really amazing rock and the sound was ahead of it’s time. They never made it big, but they made an actual record, only less than 500 maybe. Not very many. But YEARS later they were discovered by rare record enthusiasts. Someone uploaded the record called Death, and now they play concerts together again! It’s a sad story how they came to be a band. Their father died and it really took a toll on the family. So their outlet was Death. Listen to Freakin’ Out (about an acid trip) or Keep On Knockin’. PLEASE listen to this band. They fucking slap!!! I can help you guys listen to stuff that’s great and worth your time. Some artists have one good hit and everything else is trash. Also live versions of most songs aren’t good to listen to for the first time.
This was the concert at Austin City Limits when he was showcasing the last album "In Step", before his death. What's most tragic about his death is that he completely changed his life around and beat his addiction to drugs and alcohol which almost killed him. His alcohol addiction was so bad at one point that he would drink a full bottle of Crown just before going out to play, he couldn't play without it. Luckily he got the help he needed and had a new lease on life but died in a helicopter crash in Alpine Valley Wisconsin. He was taken from us way too early. RIP Stevie.
You should take a look at Stevie playing with Buddy Guy on Buddy Guy's birthday. It's great and they're both two of the best guitar players of all time.
As a long time Austinite. SRV was special. Saw him live several times. Once he and his brother Jimmy played a double neck guitar simultaneously. AND switched places and never stopped playing! In this ACL show. He busted a string, kept playing. Switched guitars. And never stopped.
Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, David Gilmour, Brian May, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan etc. a lots of real talented legend. But JEFF BECK R.I.P🕊 who died a few days ago, was the guitarist of guitarist's. I'm not saying this, it's the legends listed before me that called him that. Listen and hear why! Anyway all of them just insanly incredible, it's a matter of mood and taste. ✌EDIT: SRV's best performance is 'Texas Flood' simply dope! 💯
You guys have to react to srv “Texas flood” or “little wing” both live versions to see his guitar skills. He’s def in conversation for the goat. My personal favorite for sure.
Guys, Jimi’s playing transitioned the rock guitar from a support instrument into a solo instrument. Stevie acknowledged that. He also was flamboyant like setting his guitar on fire at Woodstock. But Jimi’ skills were not as developed. Wonder what he would have done had he lived. SRV is absolutely Blues and had incredible skills which he developed over his life. Again, what he could have done if he had not died. I was 2 feet away from him at an outdoor concert in 1983. First time I’d ever seen or heard anything like him. I’m so grateful. ❤️
There’s no way to ever say who is the best… Every one of the guitar players you guys mentioned are in the group that is the best. When you get up to that top-tier it’s just a matter of taste how you narrow down which one you think is the greatest.

You picked the tamer Little Sister to watch. Stevie's live performance "Look At Little Sister" with Jeff Healy is like watching a planet being created. Then, SRV's performance of Texas Flood Live at El Mocambo where he plays behind his back is crazy good. Rating the two (Hendrix) against each other is hard because Hendrix innovated and then influenced, so Vaughn had the base technique to build upon.
I was blessed to see him live 3 times. Once on hog back island in the Mississippi River. He was playing guitar jumped in the air, landed with both feet on his guitar still playing, spinning around on the guitar and never missed a beat. He headed up for Charlie Daniels and showed him up.
He broke a string. You could see it whipping around there and he played right through the solo then swapped guitars and never missed a beat. He plays a cover of Voodoo Chile you should watch him do it.
As a 60 year old white lady, I'm delighted to watch five young African-American gentlemen discuss who's better, Hendrix v. Vaughn. It gives me hope for the musical future. Love you guys!
They were both genius and innovators during their short time's with us. I was blessed to see Ste in in 86 just north of Dallas. We got to meet him and he was the nicest, sweetest guy u could meet. I miss him so but this falls under only the good die young.
Jim I & Stevie Ray are both top guitarist that died way too soon. I don’t know if anyone mentioned, but the Jimi played his guitar upside-down. He had a right hand Stratocaster, but Jimi was left handed. So he flipped the guitar over. Stevie Ray would go out and play all night in clubs leaning from the best, like Albert King/Buddy Guy. Then go to high school in the morning. He was notorious for playing until blisters took off the skin on his hands, he’d just superglue the skin back on and keep playing. The were both generational talents.
Smoothest guitar swap ever seen by me. Wanna see another side of Stevie? Check out "Tin Pan Alley", live with Johnny Copeland. Smooth Blues. The SRV/Jimi debate shud never exist, and they would tell u so themselves. They were both multi-dimensional super beings, and I love them both. Jimi was the composer extraordinaire, Stevie was the guitar. Both could tear it up and would have been dynamite jamming together. Which may actually be happening now🎆 Hearts full of soul.
Stevie Ray Vaughan is blues rock and roll with Southern Rock that flows a lot better than just rock and roll Stevie Ray Vaughan was inspired by a black man playing Blues that's why and learn from him an old blues singer and player
Stevie loved Jimi and followed in his foot steps, so the young man on the right of the video was right it is an evolution and Stevie helped evolve that as well as all the great black blues masters. He always acknowledged those artists.
They didn't even notice that he broke a string, finished the solo without that string and changed guitars to finish the song. Truly masterful

@@FreedomFighter2112 shoutout for including Lifeson, he couldn't show out like SRV within Rush - the compositions are far too tight and technical.
It took guts for SRV to play Voodoo Chile! Jimmy was his guiding light. He did the song justice while staying true to the original.

I saw The Outlaws open for Stevie Ray Vaughan. Memorized the whole time.
You need to watch him perform ...pride and joy, he breaks a string but doesn't miss a beat, amazing
Nothing to add. Jimi and Chuck Berry influenced more guitarists than anyone else.
@Mary anne Lawless What about Slash, and Steven Vai?
@@queen4life905 what about them?
@Mary anne Lawless You don't think that Slash and Steven Vai are 2 of the greatest guitarists as well?
I knew Stevie Ray. Stevie Ray idolized Jimi. Jimi was a self-taught innovator. That’s why he always tops the lists of great guitarists.
He broke the string and switched guitars without missing a beat! 😱 You got to love that man on the keys though! 🤯
yall gotta see Prince play the guitar, he was definitely goat status.
The song below is arguably one of the best solos of all time. Prince literally making his guitar weep.
Prince, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne and others -- "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"
Prince was indeed a GOAT... Great guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist, but also a narcissist, egomaniac, and generally creepy personality.
@@Sometimes-even-lyrical You know you are one of the only ones who thinks that, right? You could just as easily kept your negativity to yourself.
@@Sometimes-even-lyrical lol you on something else my guy. no reason to be negative towards the dead, keep it positive vibes only. RIP Prince
Simply the G.O.A.T, August 27th 1990 .R.I.P
SRV is Fire.🔥 RIP Stevie
The sky is crying is one of my favorite songs by srv. Wish I would have seen him live
Eric Clapton talked about how while he's playing, he's always thinking about where his fingers are going next, but Stevie just let all those notes flow out of him effortlessly. Legend.
I hate comparison. Clapton wrote some of the best songs ever written.
@@shanemurphy3417it’s no comparison Stevie ray Vaughn is way more talented. Clapton made more money.
@@shanemurphy3417Lol, Eric was the one who made this comparison during an interview, talking about how amazing SRV was. 😂😘
@@chadk2525 it was a comparison. I much prefer listening to Clapton. The complexity doesn’t make it better
My fav by SRV..and that expert guitar swap I have watched many times. He was a genius..pure genius.
Yes he was. I was lucky enough to be able to see him live 3 times. He literally became one with his guitar. He was fantastic. I miss him.
It will blow your mind.
love these five young men. they are interested, excited, respectful of one another, they are passionate, articulate, and they are fun. i am a new fan.
Whatever order you think he goes in, hes a great & my mans had SOUL!!
I like Jimi and Stevie. It’s awesome how they have two totally different styles playing the same instrument and both sound amazing.
There is a video out there of Stevie playing jimi’s voodoo child behind his back. This dude is the best ever!!!!
Stevie was an insane guitar player. 🔥🔥🔥
This opened the door for you guys for other blues legends .
@@clayrush71 I didn't know that. Always thought it was from the family. Thanks!
Albert King & SRV - Born Under A Bad Sign (In Session).
Love the great music you all share. Thanks ~
"Not bad for a blind white boy."
Healey! Is a virtuoso.

Had the privilege to have seen him, Fabulous Thunderbirds opened.... SRV died the following August 27th, my birthday and every year since, I raise my glass and I miss him
Texas Flood Live at the El Macombo, by Stevie Ray Vaughan, brothers.
Actually, listen to Keep On Knockin’ first.
I love seeing ya'll younguns appreciating the great SRV! God bless.
RIP Stevie.
A couple other guitar greats you should consider checking out are Buckethead "Jordan" and Steve Vai "For the Love of God."
Joe Bonamassa with Jimmy Barnes on vocals STONE COLD. BONAMASSA IS A BEAST 🤯🤯🤯
This song is a hit by Stevie Wonder years before SRV did it.
that guitar change still blows my mind..so smooth, always
There’s no way to ever say who is the best… Every one of the guitar players you guys mentioned are in the group that is the best. When you get up to that top-tier it’s just a matter of taste how you narrow down which one you think is the greatest.

@@FreedomFighter2112 All of them are great guitarist for sure, and as I said, we all have the orders that we would put them in.
Stevie Ray Vaughan 1983 at the El mocambo doing the song Texas Flood. Mind-blowing
Even the great Mr. B.B King God rest his soul said Stevie was the best he's ever seen
Just glad I was alive to hear ALL of them play…..
This song just makes you groove 🖤
Stevie-Ray Vaughan - "Texas Flood" Live at El Mocambo
I guarantee it'll blow your mind!
As a 60 year old white lady, I'm delighted to watch five young African-American gentlemen discuss who's better, Hendrix v. Vaughn. It gives me hope for the musical future. Love you guys!
Stevie ray vaughn Texas flood live from elmacambo will show you he's THE GOAT !!!!
They were both genius and innovators during their short time's with us. I love them both and I don't really think I would list one better than the other as they have different styles and different sounds. Listen, enjoy and appreciate.
Another great guitarist to add to your list should be Jeff Healey. One of the most brilliant artists ever.
Anything from Stevie Ray Live at the El Mocombo is Fantastic.
Jimmy & this is 2 different genre's to me..Jimmy has a vibe that can't be matched fr..I love watching him play
I really enjoyed this reaction. You all make me smile.
One of my favorite songs of the late GREAT SRV
I've been a SRV van since I first saw him on TV when I was 10. He what got me into music. But it is great to hear you guys talk and appreciate so much type of musics that you probably never heard of before staring this channel. This is the best part of reaction videos. Keep it up
So glad I got to see that music live❣️Stevie had a great rough voice too.

Love me some Son House…. Also love Blind Boy Fuller and Blind Blake 🤘🏽 love all the old blues guys
I was blessed to see Ste in in 86 just north of Dallas. We got to meet him and he was the nicest, sweetest guy u could meet. I miss him so but this falls under only the good die young.
Stevie ray Vaughn is definitely amongst the top 5. 👏🏽❤️🔥
Amazing work between the guitar tech and Stevie!! Wow!!
Stevie was the man he break a string. They bring him out another guitar and never miss a beat.
Listen to Stevie.. “Crossfire”..”Texas Flood”…among many others.. please go through more his work.. sad he is no longer with us.. nation treasure..
LIVE versions… you don’t get the experience from a music video
Stevie loved Jimi and followed in his foot steps, so the young man on the right of the video was right it is an evolution and Stevie helped evolve that as well as all the great black blues masters. He always acknowledged those artists.
All your blues guitarist seem to have blues influence.. love the reaction.. you guys definitely have good taste!!❤
