Thanks TK, good review. The Maxon sounds great, especially with some gain in front of it. Glad I finally got to hear it! However, it's also more than twice the price of the Carbon Copy (per Musician's Friend). Full disclosure: I own a Carbon Copy and the reason I ended up going with it was a) the Carbon Copy had more delay time available than most other analog delays in it's price range and B) it has that Mod switch, which I use like crazy.
The MXR Carbon Copy won me over this year after using a Boss DM-3 for 8 years, still do, but the MXR is great and I bought the Bright version also so I run that as slap and the original CC as long delay. The Modulation is great to and it's small size, but I'd like a Maxon delay too!
After looking at numerous forums, etc I just hooked my CC up at 18 volts and it worked. I did comparisons between 9 and 18 and it had more headroom at 18. One thing I did notice is it goes into spiral repeats upon silence when you end a chord or note. I am going to experiment some more, but it did work and there was a difference between 9 and 18 and I liked the 18 better.
I enjoy my Carbon Copy but I'd like to replace it with the Maxon. I recently saved up for the Maxon VOP-9 and CP9 Pro+ and they are the best pedals I've ever owned. They're always on.
Very good video, tk! It's nice to hear the difference between the warm repeats and the trebly, dirty repeats . The Radial with the maxon sounded great, btw. . Oh and I love the little mistakes, like the guitar being slightly out of tune. I think that's charming.
Good video TK. The Manon is expensive like the one commenter said. Now if I were going to spend that much I'd get a Strymon Delay for $450. I love my Ekko 616 Analog Bucket Brigade Delay. It has a switch that you can turn the true by-pass on or off.
Worst tones on the web goes to... "Tone King". More like Tone Deaf King! ;) All his demos sound like he's using a $42 dollar guitar with active pickups into a solid state amp. Just horrendous. How that's even possible with a room full of amazing gear is beyond me!
I don't need to spend a lot of money for tone, all my boss pedals were less than 100 and my dunlop wah was even cheaper,I don't need an expensive rack to get a good tone, less is more
The MXR didn't sound as true to the original tone on the clean channel, it had a slight breakup on the repeats to me. But on the dirty, something about the timing and decay of the MXR sounded a little better to me.
Like the look of the MXR more , like the Sound From the Maxon More , But Truly id rather see , say The Echolution VS the TimeLine VS Time Factor VS el capistan ○h YeaH Battle of the Big Dogs ♥ ♪ ♫
That's a horrible reason, you should plan on getting the MXR because you think it sounds better than the Maxon or because you don't have 300 dollars to spend on a delay.
Nice to watch a delay review without hearing U2 songs for 20 minutes. Good job TK
Congrats TTk on you first own vid. Rock on!!

i find it difficult to credibly call someone a "tone king" if they can't even tune their guitar.

Do you know if the Ibanez Delay Champ is the same analog design as the AD9
Cool as the other side of the pillow TK! You always do great videos. I think I'll keep my MXR (I like my Lovepedal Gen5 Echo better though!)
Once again I'm going to side with the Maxon...great video ToneKing.
Do you happen to be doing a review/comparison on the sonic distortion by any chance?
Does anyone know if the Maxon preserves the pick attack on the repeats? The way he plays you can't tell.
AD9 for me
u should do a video on your lounge and show off all your amps

Off topic, but has anyone noticed that TTK plays his guitars extremely high up?
Smart idea
I plan on getting the mxr because of the fact its dunlop
MAXON ALL THE WAY !
I don't need to spend a lot of money for tone, all my boss pedals were less than 100 and my dunlop wah was even cheaper,I don't need an expensive rack to get a good tone, less is more
I preferred the mxr on the dirty channel
Maxon sounds better to me.
the cc IS mechanical true bypass

Guitar is out of tune. Hard to listen to this.
