    I've been trying to work on understanding nutrition for about two months now but the amount of contradictory information I've been finding on the internet in context of nutritional studies has left me weary-- which is why I came to the conclusion that I'd have to start with the nutritional building blocks and understand both the micro and macro aspects of nutrition to be able to come to my own conclusions. I gotta say man, you've got great video editing, great persona, accurate and objective information (not to mention credibility on account of your profession), and your explanations are extremely intuitive. Love your accent btw man, you just earned yourself a subscriber lol

      If you want to learn everything there is to know about Nutrition watch these videos. Almost no one else on earth knows what they are talking about. You have to eat a wide range of high nutrient produce every day and no processed foods or you won't make it. This will change your life and all of your descendants forever.

      An easy framework I have found is to form a diet that most likely matches your main ancestry. If you can recreate what they ate along with more vitamins and minerals, lots of exercise like your ancestors would have had access to then you are winning in health. As long as you have no food allergies or things like that this is the best way to go. Obviously different for you, but I tend to follow a diet closely related to the Germanic/Norse/Slavic people. Dried fish dried meat, fresh meat and fish, legumes potatoes, cabbage lettuces berries of all sorts. Even pine needle tea every once in a while. I am indeed “weird” in today’s standard but I truly believe that every environment and it’s people were built for each other in my mind/coexisted perfectly enough that it worked out. Think about all the things our ancestors had to overcome. If they can make it with what they had to 50 or 60 we will easily live to be 80 at least. The key is organic, real foods made from scratch. Even better are locally grown or self grown organics from a farm of your choice. These products both their meat and vegetables contain considerably more nutrients than something non organic you’d find at the store. It is about doing the research and seeing exactly where you could be deficient. I also take a normal daily vitamin just in case but you can find all the nutrients you need in a “native” diet that has been fine tuned to meet “modern food standards”

    • @Ohsnapski
      @Ohsnapski 2 роки тому

      As he said “vary your diet using the rainbow colors that nature has presented to you” follow a main diet of your ancestors and find where it is deficient. I say this because most likely if you have a certain food allergy, your ancestors probably didn’t eat it and will make this diet easy for you to digest. (The gut flora of your mother is transferred into your gut flora when you are in the womb) This obviously doesn’t account for strange pop ups in allergies but is accounted for by how many people are “lactose intolerant” I can drink almost half a gallon of milk per day without feeling weird but almost all of my friends ancestrally from Africa can not drink milk even just one glass without feeling sick or farting for hours lol. It is not concrete evidence but the fact some people can eat things and some can’t states to me that we should follow a diet closely related to what “our people” ate and drank. Obviously use modern research to fine tune it but a “simple” way of looking at it would be to look at your ancestors diet. Hope all is well with your journey to increased health regardless of the path you take. Healthy food should not be hidden the way it is today behind guises of “health” or “organic” pre-prepared food. If you prepare it yourself, you know exactly what goes in. All love

      Vitamin D... We should all supplement with it in the winter months. It can help stop cancer cells forming as well as other important functions the body could benefit with supplementation of vit D and as we don't always get a lot of sun in UK where I live it's totally essential.

    Very precise and informative Doctor's Kitchen! I have also recently made a video on phytochemicals in colored plant foods where I spoke about the concept of over-nutrition. You have also precisely touched upon it, the fact that even if some nutrient is advantageous, doesn't mean you have to go over-board on it to get benefits.

      +The Doctor's Kitchen why do some foods lose vitamins and minerals

    • @doctors_kitchen
      @doctors_kitchen  8 років тому

      Just like all organisms in biology the more we age the more degradation we ensue. In a cooking sense, the longer we leave vegetables out in exposure to the atmosphere or by heating food etc we destroy the nutrients. But it's a balance we strike between preserving nutrient density and making foods more digestible. That's why it's great to have a mix of cooked and raw foods in our diets :)

    • @doctors_kitchen
      @doctors_kitchen  7 років тому

      so a multitude of reasons. The main ones are cooking, infection and age. Which is why I recommend seasonal, local and organic produce where possible and a good mix of raw and cooked vegetables in someones diet :)

    Burning question(s)??? Some people argue that because of the way food is mass produced, genetically modified, and made to produce quicker that even if you’re eating the best diet possible you’ll still have deficiencies. What affects do gmos and soil depletion have on the food we eat today? If our soils are less rich, are they producing something that doesn’t have as many vitamins and minerals, and therefore isn’t as beneficial? Is this why even when people eat right deficiencies can occur? And if that’s the case, and someone decides to supplement, how do we know what are body is able to absorb? Most vitamins and supplements are some form of a compound which makes it harder for our body to break down and use. There are many mixed opinions on this topic.

  • @denissemedina4619

    I love this, I see so many people supplementing but their diet is 👎🏻 first focus on getting them from your diet and then if you’re still deficient supplement.

    Question, since plants don't actually use vitamins, are they really a good source for them? For example, a carrot does not produce vitamin A but rather beta carotene which, if eaten with fat we can convert to vitamin A but its not actually fully formed vitamin A. I had learned in college that it was animals which relied on eating "vitamins" while plants relied on minerals and various natural found chemicals.

    Am I missing something?
    I stopped eating white bread, sugars and processed food.
    Lunch and dinner: I only eat carbs in one of these meals (quinoa is my favourite), I measure the size of the protein with the palm of my hand (I love seitan, jack fruit, vegan burgers, tofu..) and eat salad on both meals (I like watercress with onion, tomato and olive oil dressing).
    At breakfast I eat Weetabix Protein with coconut unsweetened milk, banana and Shia seeds.
    In the middle of the morning I usually eat a tangerine.
    If I feel hungry late at night have rice crackers with avocado. I have a treat at the weekend. I do exercise (HIIT or full body free weights training) 3 times a week. I drink plenty of water (small sips during the day).
    Sometimes, between meals, I eat olives or unsalted dry fruits (pistachios, almonds) but not very often.

    Hey bud, the links for the info on vitamins B-1 and B-5 are not good any more. Would it be possible to update them? I'm having a hard time finding the same good info you've provided for the others. Thanks a ton!

      One topic that is worthy of discussion is the absorption of taking a multivitamin. I know you're not a fan of pills and I'm not either, however, it is worthy of some research as I believe the stomach cannot process the amount of vitamins found in capsule or pill form

    I am a regular gym guy, I am trying to increase my size as I need macro nutrient more than an average person, I need micro nutrients more too , I saw a few articles which says ur multivitamin supplement is laboratory made it's bioavailability is too low it's not going to be absorbed in ur body as natural fruits and vegetables do. 1st question - is that true?
    2nd question - if YES then how to complete the requirement , in a affordable way ?

    ok, I believe tou meant "Chlorine" and "Fluorine" instead of "Chloride" and "Fluoride".
    The first ones ares pure elements, the other ones are used to name ionic compounds, ex:(sodium chloride, magnesium fluoride)
