    These are great points!
A lot of older folks who lived through the great depression find it hard to let go of things.

Hi Debbie, thank you so much for your comment. I agree with you completely about the older people that lived through the depression. My mother falls into this category and she could not get rid of a thing! She would even keep things that were broken thinking that maybe she could repair them someday. The problem is that it all falls on the children that have to clean out the houses and dispose of everything. Not only is it physically exhausting but it really takes a great mental toll. I just don’t want my kids to carry that burden. Thank you so much for watching! Much love, Sheila.

Sheila you’re absolutely right. I’ve started to pare down. At 72 I want simple, clean and neat. Not saying my place wasn’t clean and neat, but it really wasn’t simple. I loved gardening, still do, however gone are the flats and flats of flowers. Now it’s very pretty, but it takes me a fraction of the time and energy. This way I get to enjoy it. As far as inside the house, remember this.. no one wants your stuff. A few keepsakes are fine but my mother-in-laws collection of porcelain dolls? They were valued by her but some find them a bit creepy. Thanks for your encouragement on taking care of business before someone else has to.

Hi Mary, thank you so much for your comment. I am with you 100%, I want things simple and I want to enjoy my life. I just started gardening in this last year. I cannot say I love gardening, but I enjoy what we did and I want to keep it small and simple. It is such a true statement that nobody wants your stuff. Oh my goodness, my mom collected dolls also and you are right, some of them were really creepy looking! My mom loved them, but they gave me the willies. I think we reach a point where we know we have to do something, but it can be very overwhelming when you think of all that you have to go through and purge. It does not have to be that way. Just doing a little each day will really make a dent in it and before you know it, it will be done. Thank you so much for sharing! Much love, Sheila.

Hi Sheila 🤗 …. Agree with your tips! I’m also a believer in the importance of decluttering & being organized .. I feel it reduces stress & anxiety plus frees up time to do things you enjoy! ☺️ .. Loving your new filming location in todays video 💕 .. So light and airy…. 😍 ..
How is your gardening coming along? I think we need an update soon lol 🌻 …. Hope you have a wonderful & blessed weekend with your sweetheart Dave ..… I’ll be having some fun tomorrow ~~doing some ‘retail therapy’ lol.
Love & Hugs sweet friend, Karen 🌺🌿🌴🌻🌸

Hi Karen, thank you so much for your comment and for sharing. Being organized has helped so much, everything has a place and I know exactly where to go to find what I am looking for. I have started filming in different rooms in the house to change things up, and I am really enjoying it, so I thank you for sharing that you are too. My garden is doing well, nothing has died yet, ha ha. I plan to add a couple more things and then that will be it. I really am not a gardener and I don’t want to be, but I do wanna have small areas of plants and flowers, and I will keep it at that. I hope you had fun doing some retail therapy, and I hope you got some really nice things! Much love, Sheila.

Great advice Sheila. We sold our home and all of our stuff eight years ago to become full-time RVers.
Although my husband had a harder time getting rid of things than I did, it was such a relief to come home after the estate sale (we hired someone) to find everything gone. A huge weight was lifted off of our shoulders.
It was the best thing we ever did and still find the need to purge from time to time.
We’re so relieved our children won’t have to deal with a lifetime of our belongings when we’re gone, and they are too. It has been freeing for everyone.❤️

Hi Lanny, thank you so much for your comment and for sharing. My brother-in-law also did in the state sale and what a relief that was. It would’ve taken us many months to do all that work to dispose of everything. I think once you make the decision to purge all the excess in your home, you definitely know that you never want to go back to living in that situation. You gave your children, a great gift by not letting that all fall on their shoulders and I’m sure they are quite relieved. How do you like being RVers? did you travel around a lot and then maybe stay in some places for a couple months at a time? So many people have adopted this lifestyle and I think it would be great. Do you plan to continue on your RV adventure or do you have plans to settle somewhere? I would love to ask you 1 million questions, ha ha! Love, Sheila.

Your declutter videos have helped me so much. I recently let go of my 40-year-old Elvis collection. I haven't missed it at all. Next will be the antiques. Then, Christmas. I feel so much better!🥰

Hi Molly, thank you so much for sharing that the Declutter videos have helped you, that was so kind of you to tell me that. It is funny that there are some things we feel we can never let go of, and yet once we do, we completely forget about it and actually feel relieved. I had so many Christmas decorations, and I got to the point where I could not wait to get rid of most of them. I no longer dread the holidays and having to drag everything out and find a place for it in the house, just to take it all back down and put it away. I keep it very simple now and I really enjoy Christmas so much more. Keep up the good work, even if you just do 15 minutes a day, you will be amazed at how quickly it will go. Much love, Sheila.

Great advice. I also enjoyed your home tour, so bright and inviting. Watching people hang on too long is so hard. It motivates me not to leave it till we get too old and weak. Thanks Sheila

Hi Bettinagerl, thank you so much for your comment and your kind words. My sister, who is only three years older than me, kept everything she had throughout her life. You can’t imagine the amount of stuff she had and we had to go through it all. It was overwhelming and completely exhausting. I continue to purge on a regular basis. Spending may be 15 minutes a day going through something and parting ways with it. It is amazing how quick things can build up and purging is an ongoing job. Much love, Sheila.

Thank you Shelia, you have inspired me. I would not consider myself a hoarder but after 65 years on this planet, I have acquired quite a lot of everything. 🙌🙌. Thank the Lord. But I need to start letting go of a lot of it. I have Stage 3 Parkinson’s, so today IS the best day that I will get. Let me get busy!! 😂😂🫣💪🏼
