Raising my hand, Sheila. My mother believed in 7 to bed, so we got used to early to bed. I actually head in to bed between 5 & 6. I spend my quiet time with devotionals then, & if I fall asleep it's ok. I often do fall asleep. During my working life, I slept from 6PM til 2AM, & that was close to 40 years of working. Blessings! @@ibelieveinangelsyesido7436 Hi Jackie, oh my goodness, I am so happy that you shared this with me! You totally understand where that early bedtime comes from, because your mother put you to bed early just like mine did. I think I mentioned in the video that sometimes I stare at the clock waiting for it to be 6 o’clock, and it might only be five or 530. I should just go to bed if I’m ready no matter what the clock says. Didn’t you just love going to bed at six and getting up at two all those years when you worked? My sleep has been messed up since my husband passed away 4 yrs ago….take a nap at 4pm, wake up anywhere from 9pm..stay awake until 4 pm the next day…sometimes I just crash and don’t even realize I’ve crashed…
@@jlee3269 Hi and thank you so much for your comment and lovely words, I appreciate that so much. Sheila I also go to bed early and wake up around 5 am. Love that time. I sit in my kitchen alone, look out my glass doors and reflect. I hunk I’ll try sitting out side, weather permitting. I watch my birds, my fish in the pond that is along the deck. Truly my own time. Thanks for sharing
Hi Mary, thank you so much for your comment and for sharing. Being up early it’s a time for great clarity and reflection. Being outside, even if it is dark out, just intensifies my time with God. I bet it is so peaceful sitting at your kitchen table, and watching the birds and the fish and having that time to yourself, is so important. Thank you for sharing this with me and thank you for being here. Much love, Sheila.
I'm definitely a morning person. I usually get up at 6 am, we usually are settled down in the bedroom by 9 pm and asleep by 10 pm. My husband also gets up so not a lot of quiet time unless I go out on the deck or into my office or living room. Alot of times I'm up at 3 am and really use that time to communicate with the Lord, lots of prayers and worship during those times. I feel like if I can't sleep it's the Lord calling me to spend that time with him. I always try to get everything done that I need to do for the day in the mornings, including my exercise, my bill paying, my housework. Then by noon I've go the day free for anything I want to do.
Hi Allison, thank you so much for your comment and sharing your own sleep schedule. We all need that quiet time no matter what the time is that we get it. I love and appreciate your attitude that if you get up at 3 o’clock in the morning, you feel that is the Lord calling you to spend time with him. I can see that so clearly. I am like you, I love to get my chores done early in the morning so that I know I have it behind me and then I can choose to do whatever I want for the rest of the day. Hi Sheila, Yes, I wondered about your early 6:00 p.m. bedtime. Thanks for answering our inquiring minds. I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum from you... lol. I'm a night owl and usually go to bed around 1:00 a.m and sleep until around 8:00 a.m. I love the house when all is quiet and I can relax and read or catch up on some chores. We're all wired different and it's okay to do whatever works for us.
Hi Rosemary, thank you so much for your comment and for sharing your sleep schedule. I agree with you completely, we are all wired differently and the most important thing is to do whatever works for us. I think the general consensus of the comments is that we all realize the importance of that quiet time And how much we need it. I have always been an early bird, never a night owl. I do believe it is all and what we get used to, and in my case it goes way back to my childhood days. Much love to you, Sheila.
It would be very boring if we were all alike . I go to bed around 3 am and get up around 10am . The day seems so long if I get up early and I like the peaceful late night hours . My schedule most of my life was 11pm to 9 am . Thanks for sharing your day . 🌷🌷🌷
Hi and thank you so much for your comment and for sharing your sleep schedule. You are right, it would be boring if we were all alike. It sounds like you were getting your peaceful quiet time very late at night and that works for you. It seems like we all need, that peace and quiet matter what time we get it. You have stuck to your schedule most all of your life just like I have stuck to mine. by reading all of the comments, some are night owls and some are early birds and then there are some that have found that happy medium. I find it very interesting that we are all different yet all alike and wanting and needing that peaceful, quiet time. Much love, Sheila.
I so enjoy your spirit and all the the things you say. Once in awhile I wake up at 3 a.m...... wide awake, so I talk to God or read my devotional book. Sometimes I make notes on my thoughts at that time. I also love journaling, but I don't make myself feel like I have to do it every day. Just when I have something worth meditating on or keeping to read another time. I am 76, and like you, I am so grateful God has let me live this long! In Deut. 30;19 it says God has set before us life and death......Therefore, choose Life, He says! Well, I take Him literally about that and mention to Him quite often "I certainly choose Life! Thank You God for LIFE!!! " My Mama and Daddy also didn't believe in going to the Dr. for every little thing. I wish I had the determination to go to bed at 6 pm, but my sleep schedule is all over the place! Go to bed at 10, 11, 12 am.... or stay up til 1, 2 or 3 am then go to sleep. It's a big mess really! I have always been terrible at "routine." BUT I am healthy and thank God so much for that! ❤
@@catherinem4130 hi Catherine, it is such a pleasure to meet you and I thank you so much for your comment. thank you for sharing that profound scripture from Deuteronomy. 30:19. We choose life by showing the fruit of the spirit, each and every day, by walking in faith and by trusting God. Talking to God in the wee hours of the morning is so connecting. Don’t worry about not being on a routine, when we get in or 70s, we don’t have to have a routine at all. Sounds like we are both healthy and we have much to be grateful for! Love and blessings, Sheila.
In general how does this work out with Dave Sheila? My husband is very sensitive to noise and wouldn't be able to sleep through anything I would do in the night hours. I do love hearing about our uniqueness and how we come by our habits. BTW, you look beautiful in that orange color. ❤
@@Anita-silver hi Anita, thank you so much for your comment. Noise does not wake Dave up at all, and I never run the sweeper or do something loud. I will run the sweeper in the evening before I go to bed and then in the morning when I get up, I can use my OCedar mop and mop the floors. Our bedroom is at the opposite end of the house from the kitchen, family room and laundry room. I wash my hair in the kitchen sink and I do it at two or three in the morning. I have to go into the bedroom to the master bath to get my hair products and hairdryer and he never hears me. I take my hairdryer outside on the patio and dry my hair. It is funny to think about why we are like we are and where it all comes from. I have plenty of things that many people would think are weird, but they are normal to me, ha ha. It is 12 minutes after eight and as you can see, I am not in bed yet because I am trying to get my brother-in-law’s sugar under control. His numbers are good now so I can finally go to bed and will have to get up in two hours to check it again and continue that throughout the night. thank you so much for watching and for being here! Hi Sheila, interesting story behind your sleep schedule. I go to bed @6 -7but dont fall asleep until @8-9. I usually read, crochet occasionally scroll my phone but dont like to make that a habit before sleep. Im up at @4-5 . I agree about the quiet time. A person needs alone quiet time to process their day and life. Its important especially when living with other people. As its easy for the mind to get overwhelmed and confused and not make good decisions with noise and distractions of everyday life. Also im really shocked that diabetics need to have their blood check so often especially during the night. How do they even get a good night sleep?! And sleep is so important to healing. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Hi Janet, thank you so much for your comment and for sharing. I always wanted to be one of those people that could go to bed early and have time to read or do something relaxing that I enjoy, but I crash as soon as I get in bed. Having that quiet time is beneficial to everyone to reset and re-ground ourselves. Every day life is too distracting to be able to think straight. I don’t think all done in bed to check their blood every two hours. Ken is a type 1 diabetic, and has been one for 53 years. Also, he will be 80 years old in three weeks and as we continue to age, our bodies just don’t work the same. His diabetes is very erratic, and with all that he has been through, his blood has to be monitored very closely. He has gone into a diabetic coma several times and many times when he neglected to check his sugar that often, 911 had to come because he was way too high or way too low. He absolutely cannot sleep through the night so his sleep is very disrupted with all these blood checks. Much love, Sheila
I'd much rather go to bed early and get up early, but right now, I have little flexibility. When the day comes when I have flexibility, I plan to go to bed early and get up early. Having a good sleep schedule & routine is healthy, I think. That's probably another reason you're so healthy, along with the fact that you go outside everyday. Being outside is healthy, I think.
Hi An, thank you so much for your comment. I think just like you do, fresh air and a consistent sleep schedule keeps us healthy. That is the way I was raised and what I was told all my life by my parents. I have no doubt that when you have the flexibility to do so, you will put yourself on a consistent and routine sleep schedule because you already recognize the importance of it. Thanks so much for sharing! Much love, Sheila.
i do get up at 4:30 to exorcise. i like the idea of more time in quiet prayer. I will try to set aside a longer time and use it for personnel prayers. Thank you for this!
Hi Tisha, thank you so much for your comment and for sharing. You are an early bird like me. We are all different and have our own ways. Matter what firework sleeping schedules are, we are both able to enjoy those beautiful peaceful hours of the morning. Love you, my friend, Sheila.
I have an autoimmune condition so l cannot fall asleep before the wee hours of the morning so I completely understand how you feel. Over the years, I’ve learned to accept it and make the most of it. Just like Sheila gets her quiet time in the morning, I get mine at night until the wee hours of the morning when I can finally fall asleep. Then I sleep like a baby and wake up feeling fully rested.
Really sorry to hear about your BIL, hope he has a very quick recovery. My sleeping hours changed when I met and married Nate. My regular sleep time was 9-10 pm and I was still working so I got up at 5:30 for a 7 am word day start. Well Nate was a night owl, not going to bed till 2-3 am but since marrying me we had to come to a happy medium so we agreed on 11 pm and we usually get up at 8 am or around there(now that I am retired)we don't usually sleep in after 8 am and on Sunday's I set the clock for 8 am so we can get to church on time. I think to each his own and whatever works for you for a bedtime and rise time as long as both parties are in agreement to it and ours both are LOL We do our praying in the morning after our bible ready and devotional, I pray in the morning and Nate says our nighttime prayer when we go to bed. Love this video, great content, can you tell I'm catching up on your videos? Love you guys!!

i didnt talk about God either till a tragedy struck the family and it brought us together. We attend a church now with lots of friends that get together and share many thoughts and exoeriences about God. So when I made God most important it became natural to want to talk about God and share . It has helped us all so very much!! yes religion is declining in America to. many churches are closing. But our country is declining too . Seems to me the correlation is clear.✝🥰🛐

I am up and down also, going to the bathroom, but I can usually fall back to sleep and sleep till close to 1:00. My schedule may sound crazy too many people, but I really love it. Love and blessings, Sheila.
I am usually up around one, sometimes 20 minutes earlier and sometimes 20 minutes later, but I love that time of the morning. I come outside on my patio and it is so peaceful is the best time to talk to God. Thank you again so much! Love and blessings, Sheila

@@jlee3269 Hi and thank you so much for your comment and lovely words, I appreciate that so much. Sheila, I love that you have all of that time to pray and spend with our Lord. I can’t wait for retirement so I’ll have a lot more time to do Bible study and just appreciate time. Have a wonderful Labor Day. ❤❤❤
Love and blessings to you, my friend, Sheila.

My dad retired early so my mom took a job. She worked 4 long days and had 3 off. She kept odd hours according to my dad, and he didn't like it but she informed him she lived in the house too and he needed to adapt ... so he did! They were married 63 years before they passed away.

Hi Tisha, thank you so much for your comment and for sharing. You are an early bird like me.
