I'm a 73 yr old Hispanic woman, who often has fallen into the "anti-aging" hype but recently decided to look at myself as the "healthy aging" woman that God has created me to be. Healthy in body, mind, and spirit. I just found your channel and you are such a refreshingly delightful woman. Keep it up!

I agree with you Sheila. I'm definitely pro-ageing with my silver hair and a few fine lines on my face. I do use a good moisturizer and knowing how to apply makeup correctly can work wonders for me. Having good family genes is also a great gift that God gave me. I used to think that when I turned 55 I would have a facelift, but decided against it and thought I'd put it off until I turned 65, then 70. Well, as the years went by, I decided I liked the way my face and body were aging and I've used the money I would have spent on a facelift for some fantastic vacations shared with my husband, who still thinks I'm beautiful... ha...ha... Great inside beauty tip this week.

Hi Rosemary, thank you so much for your comment and for sharing. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and no one is more critical of us than ourselves. I think it’s absolutely wonderful that you put your money into shared vacations and a lifetime of memories that you will always carry in your heart instead of a facelift, which would have to be redone 10 years later. Our husbands see us as beautiful because they love who we are. How gracious that God bless you with good genes. It is not about our body shape, the wrinkles on our skin or anything else. It is about the beauty that we have in our hearts that shines through and nothing is more beautiful than that. Much love to you, my friend, Sheila.

Hi Sheila 💕🌺 …. I love BOTOX and have been getting it every 6 months +/- for around 16 years. It definitely works if it’s started prior to deep lines sitting in. I get what I call ‘baby Botox’. A little on my forehead, around my eyes, between my eyes & at the bottom of my chin. It’s worth every penny to me but I do know it’s not for everyone …. I’m not a fan of fillers on the cheeks or under eyes for myself as I think they distort one’s face if it’s overdone. I get Botox just like I get highlights, facials, microdermabrasion, etc. I’ve never bought into the anti aging creams & devices. I do believe in taking care of my skin as best I can .. To each their own in using/purchasing devices but I don’t believe in their hype at all. You have to be careful with some devices as they can cause arrhythmia and palpitations.. Some of them even warn that the electrical current could cause rhythmic disturbances to the heart, which could be fatal.. As far as makeup goes I have always loved it 😍 …. I have some high end, some drug store & some that are modestly priced. I have been highlighting my hair my entire adult life and am thinking about stopping. Not because it’s seems to be trendy to do so, just starting to get more & more silver streaks in my roots …. Which has me going more often for highlight’s & it’s starting to damage my hair .. All my hair products are great but bleach is bleach and it’s damaging. I think I’d hate the growing out period though as I love long hair and don’t want to cut it. I’ve already had quite a few inches cut .. I’d hate my dark roots with silver to be halfway down and blonde at the bottom 🤦‍♀️ …. Don’t like that look period .. Still undecided about it! lol
Great video as always my sweet friend! Love & Hugs, Karen 🤗🌺🌴🥥💕

Hi Karen, thank you so much for your comment and all that you shared. I have heard that if you start getting Botox before you develop wrinkles and deep lines that it can definitely slow that down and keep things softened. For me at my age, it wouldn’t do anything because the lines and wrinkles are etched in. I have also heard about some of those devices, causing heart problems and besides, if I wanted something done like that, I would definitely go to the dermatology office and have it done professionally, not try to do it myself at home. As you know, I like very minimal make up and that is probably because I never wore it until much later in life. I look better with some make up, but I absolutely hate the feeling of it being on my face. I guess that is all in what we get used to. I have never had my hair highlighted, low lighted or even professionally colored, but I did used to get perms every two months when I was younger. As far as hair goes, I have never had bleach on my hair, but I do color it at home and use light blonde. I cannot see gray in my hair, I’m sure it’s gotta be there, but I guess I can’t distinguish the gray from the color I put on. I don’t notice any gray roots. In fact, my roots get dark like my natural hair color. In the back it is multicolored. Some of it looks brown. Some of it looks gold. Some of it looks blonde and some of it has a tinge of red to it. My hair has always been multicolored and even though I do color my hair it never covers all those different colors. I would absolutely love to stop coloring and I don’t for only one reason, and that is that my hair becomes unmanageable as the color wears off. It looks more yellow, more frizz, and just doesn’t work right. If it wasn’t for that, I would just stop coloring it. In the end, I guess we all do what makes us feel like we look our best. I always love hearing from you, Karen, and I thank you so much! Much love to you, Sheila.

@@INSIDEBEAUTYwiththeoldgirl …. I loved getting perms in the 1980s! Big hair and Paul Mitchell Freeze & Shine Spray was so popular …. But I did have one traumatic experience with a perm when I was around 6 …. My hair was strait as stick and down to my butt. Grandma thought I needed curls & gave me a Lilt perm (they smelled so bad) … Remember those? My hair broke off/was fried & my mom was sooooo upset. She had to take me to a hair salon and they had to cut my hair very short. I looked awful lol. Grandma wasn’t allowed to perm my hair ever again! 😆 ….
Yeah, I don’t know when I’ll be able to not highlight my hair. I have an appointment Saturday 😍. Recently went two months without highlighting because I had cataract surgery and my surgeon didn’t want any soap near my eyes for two weeks plus I had to use eye drops for a month .. Hi Sheila, I really enjoyed this video and I do agree with what you are saying although I have to admit I did make a few purchases before I smartened up 🙄 I recently purchased a red light therapy mask that I like and use. I listened to a doctor talk about how the only way you were going to get rid of those wrinkles is if you get shots or have surgery. I am 77 years old and don’t plan on getting either. I believe in taking care of your skin and wearing make up because it does make a difference. And again some of it does have to do with genes. When people find out my age, they are shocked because they don’t think I look it or act it. I have always been young at heart and I guess I don’t act my age so I guess they are surprised when they hear it. I have arthritis in my hands, so no matter what I do I feel they show my age. Since my husband passed away, I have been doing a lot of crying which has had an effect on my eyes. But all I’m trying to do is look and feel the best I can “for my age.” I do like my make up though and don’t put it on too heavy but it does make me look better and when I look better, I feel better. Just saying…….. take care and I’ll see you again soon. Hugs, Dolores. ❤️💐🙏

Hi Dolores, thank you so much for your comment. How are you doing? It must be so hard for you and adjusting to life without your beloved Tim. I can’t even imagine what I would feel like and how lost I would be. I also have a red light therapy mask and have been using it for three years and absolutely love it. I think it is great for the health of your skin and they don’t make false claims that it’s gonna make you look 10 years younger. I do think genes play a big part and how we age. You have beautiful skin and you don’t look anywhere near 77 years old. When we go through things, it does take a toll on our face. I completely understand why you would be crying all the time and probably not sleeping well either. Makeup does make a difference and I agree with you completely that when we look better, we feel better. My heart aches for you and I am glad you are taking the time to grieve and feel the grief which is the healthy thing to do. When I lost my mother and my sister last year, six months apart, I never had time to grieve. When my mother died, my sister was already very sick so I went straight into caregiving for her. When she died, her husband had a cardiac arrest, and I was back to caregiving again. Someday, I will have to face and deal with the grief that I have shoved deep inside. thank you again and know that you are in my thoughts and my prayers. Much love, Sheila.

@@deborah3912 hi Deborah, thank you so much for your comment and for contributing to the conversation. I also use retin A, I started about three years ago. I definitely think that Retin-A helps with the health of our skin, normalizing skin cell turnover, and it is wonderful for acne and other conditions on the face. I do believe, if you started early enough, before the wrinkles have a chance to really settle in, it will slow that down. In my case, since I didn’t start using it until I was, close to 70 years old, the wrinkles were already etched into my face. I have also had a new face and used it often on for about a year. It did lift my eyelids somewhat, I don’t know if anyone else would’ve noticed, but I did however it would only last several hours of the day and then I would have to do it again. I do think using things like high factor SPF, Tretinoin, a good diet, not drinking or smoking, exercises and so on does help with how your skin ages especially if you start early in your 20's and keep it up over time. Things like HRT, dermal needling, skin peels also work and I think certain devices like LED and Microcurrent help as well but again it is about consitancy and so if people don't enjoy using them its kind of pointless. Also no matter what you do we are all still going to age and eventually die, there isn't yet a device that prevents that!
I totally agree with you that there is a lot of false advertising on youtube and social media which just doesn't show realistic results and some content creators who aren't disclosing other interventions like surgeries and injectables. I also agree with what you say about the beauty of older people. The ever beautiful Diane Keaton who is also a talented photographer spoke about how beautiful she finds older faces back in the 70's when she was photographing older people and I think she is right, its all about having the eyes to see it though and it feels like often culture and advertising strip us of that ability to be able to see that beauty because it isn't as commodifiable as youth can be.

I don’t even know if they made sunscreen back when I was in my 20s, we went outside and baked in the sun all day long every chance we got there was never any talk about good diets and exercises and those kind of things. There were no commercials about it, and it wasn’t plastered in all the magazines. The devices may work if you have a good base to start with but for me, I just don’t feel like they would be effective if you’re starting in your mid 60s and above because the damage has already been done. I am sure that our genes play a big part in our aging process. We try so hard to do all the things to have beautiful skin, and yet when I think back to both of my grandmothers, they had beautiful skin even in their 80s and all they ever used was ponds cold cream. @@monikadale6563 thank you Monica, I can’t stand all the pushing of products and other items and the reminders to be sure to use their links just so they can make a commission. They are not giving anything they are taking, and that is very sad. Love, Sheila.
