    These 2 are probably the best right now. I had to decide if i wanted that slightly higher quality with ssd (which i really wanted), or the low light and better AF with the fx3. I did choose the fx3, but when i get the budget for a second camera, its going to the s5iix

      I can definitely agree with you on that one, for me I sold the fx3 and went with the ii x due to the fact that a lot of customers also want me to do shoots for photo.. then the fx3 severely lacks.. also I love the fact I can shoot open gate, even tho in camera it is 10-bit 420 and not 422 when in open gate but I’ll survive that😅

      I see a lot of people going for Sony because they see other people working with it. Including my friends. I still went with the S5IIX and I couldn't be happier. Prettiest colors SOOC in a cheaper body with unbeatable IBIS. Waiting for the upgrade of the AF from the G9II and hopefully a S1HII on the way.

    • @AlexReinholdsson
      @AlexReinholdsson  3 місяці тому

      Well, the fx3 shoots up to 120 without cropping Whis is super nice. The s5iix shoots up to 60 fps when cropping and up to 120 with massive crop. So in this case, is slowmo is your biggest need. Then this needs to be considered:)

  • @VeganLinked
    @VeganLinked Рік тому +1

    So I have been using a6600s I have three of them and I've been using them for 3 years. I recently bought the FX30 but I could return it. The idea was to get the FX3 next and use these instead of the a6600s. But maybe I should just send the FX30 back and get two of these Lumix. I'm all video. And I've never had full frame so I'm really excited about getting it. I don't know if I'll do 6K much though because I'm afraid of using too much space. I'm already having space issues. I think my biggest concern with the Lumix would be the focus. I do a lot of interviews where I'm running the cameras and interviewing the person so I'm not really paying attention to the camera and depends on the cameras focus system. I wonder if you think I should stick with Sony... But a lot of times these interviews are just talking heads so maybe if the Panasonic has like focus zones or something I can set it up to where I don't need to worry about it?

    • @AlexReinholdsson
      @AlexReinholdsson  Рік тому +1

      Hey man! That sounds like a solid setup you have since earlier. As I mentioned in the video, before the s5 ii and s5 ii x the autofocus has been horrendous to be honest but with the mark 2 they implemented phase autofocus and it is so good. Not as sticky as the Sony as I said but for talking heads and simple things it will do the job as good for sure. I have seen that the camera now are down to like 1600 € for some campaigns so check it out. But I am quite certain that you would really love the s5 ii x, it will take a few uses to get used to it for sure but grading it is sooooo much easier!

    • @VeganLinked
      @VeganLinked Рік тому

      Thanks for the response! When you say it grades easy, what codec do you suggest for the smallest file, 24fps with 10-bit 422.
      I've been shooting h.265 on the Sony cameras, xvac 4k 8bit 420 for several years and it cuts in renders easy for me. But I just started experimenting with the higher bit rates on the FX30 and it definitely is harder to cut for my processor and renders takes a lot longer. Better love having the dynamic range and potential for grading.

    • @AlexReinholdsson
      @AlexReinholdsson  Рік тому

      Well with the Sonys, my computer actually have an easier time working with the 422 10-bit xavc-I since it is less compressed and therefore easier to work with than the smaller 422 10-bit long gop files.
      Same with the s5 ii x, I always shoot the all I because it is less compressed and easier for the computer to handle, makes sense?
      What program do you use for editing and grading?

    • @VeganLinked
      @VeganLinked Рік тому

      @@AlexReinholdsson Right now I'm just using premiere. I hate premiere, well I like premier, but I hate Adobe. But I'm so deep in projects that I already started in premiere that I can't move to DaVinci just yet. I want to move to DaVinci but I would really like a keyboard shortcut file for DaVinci that matches premiere first. I mean I could set it up in DaVinci it's just I spend so much time editing the last thing I want to do is be on the computer trying to figure out another program, right now anyways. But DaVinci has almost reached the point of being too irresistible.

    BM Video Assist to record Braw is great but the lag is horrible, making audio recording practically useless - unless you go Tentacle Sync or Deity. $$$$$!! Sony cinematic look right out of the camera, and natural. Not so much for the Lumix. Open Gate nice idea but lesser quality than tilting a FX3. FX3 shoots beautiful 120fps slow mo. Only awful 1080p 120 fps on the Lumix. Sony already has shutter angle now, and it will port out Braw to a minimal lag/sound sync adjustable Ninja soon in the upcoming FX3 update. Sony AF is incredible and really useful, and there is no comparison here with Lumix. Sony has solid steady shot performance and amazing gyro metadata using Catalyst browser. Sony apps are the best in the industry. You get what you pay for.

      Hi!
      Thanks for the comment and sorry for the tardy answer, I wasn't in front of a xomputer and to write it on the phone was just like, naaah.
      Yeah, fully with you on the lag part, it is annoying and terrible, not for in like interviews and stuff tho since it works great for that, but on the whole, the HDMI lag with sound is a bit annoying..
      Sony and a cinematic look out of the camera, I don't really follow what you mean there cause the FX3 is a quite digital look, not very cinematic unless you use cinema lenses or put a nice soft grade on it. But then again, all cameras with the right light, framing and lens can look cinematic. That expression is experiencing a higher inflation than the Swedish krona at the moment. About the 120 fps, fully with you on that part. as i also stated in the video. it still isn't as full of informatioin as the other codecs but 120 4k no crop.. that's a bummer to miss on the Lumix. Open gate as an idea.. I shoot for 4 companies monthly that needs the videos in 16x9, 9x16 and 4x5. This is fully doable in open gate. It is 6k, still 10-bit and works amazing. Some shots I can't replicate twice so it's crucial for me at this moment.
      And then to just meet the last few comments. Yeah, FX3 get's Braw in about a year, which is amazing for sony users. The autofocus on the Lumix s5 ii and II x is actually really good. It's still a tad behind the fx3, but not that much. If you waould have compared to S5 mk1. Then by all means, there is a no contest. but with the s5ii x i actually don't mind. And have in mind I sold my FX3 to only use the s5ii x. And yeah you have amazing gyro data, if you push the shutter beyond every reasonable limit, put it in a separate app to render and loose quality before putting it in your NLE. then yeah, it's amazing. But the IBIS in the S5 IIx is so unreal I barely use a gimbal anymore.
      But anyhow. Thank you for the comment, also nice for me to have aa reflextion on what I miss and not from the Sony line.

    Alex, what are your thoughts on matching the Amira and S5II X? I Saw that this film was shoot on the s1H and Mini LF ua-cam.com/video/RhJLh0NPmco/v-deo.html . Anyways these are the two Cameras and color science I gravitate towards. I'd lov to hear your thoughts on what the amira does better than the S5IIX in your opinion or why you might choose the amira over the s5IIX? thanks!

      That’s a good question. But what the Amira does better than the s5 ii x is pretty much everything 😅 jokes aside.. an arri has beautiful colors and a highlight roll off to die for. But it is very big, heavy and a super 35 sensor. Which is not an issue some times and sometimes it is.
      The image in the Amira is a lot more organic and the s5 ii x has a pretty sharp image even when sharpness turned down. But they do match pretty easy, especially in resolve when working with color space transforms.
      So from the “cheaper” cameras to match arri I’d say that the colors of the lumix is good especially if you need a decent autofocus. However, if you can love with manual focus, I would probably go with the new blackmagic which has beautiful colors and a raw capability, what’s your thoughts?

      @@AlexReinholdsson thanks for the response Alex!
      I recently used the Amira on a project and fell in love with just about everything but the weight! Im thinking I will end up with an Amira and S1h or s5iix... I know the sh1 has an OLPF that cuts some of the sharpness out. This combo for me may be the best of a Cine-Doc run and gun kit... I do like that both systems can rock and roll with just media, lens and battery. Everything I have seen with blackmagic one has to rig it out and while I am trying to prioritize image with simplicity and reliability. I have had a hacked gh2 since 2013 and use it as a webcam now but its still rocking!
      I may post back if i get them both. Got a doc this year, just getting pitches and funding sorted. Thanks Man!

      Yeah the Amira is amazing on all accounts except. But as a doc cam it is unbeatable, the colors and usability. But also, the fx6 form factor is ridiculously good also.
      Let me know, curious:)

    Neither, used Canon C70 (3300-4000USD) with 12 bit internal raw, 10 stop VND, shutter angle, false color, etc. 🤓

      yeah, also an amazing camera with good colors. Tried it out. Not a fan of the form factor, super 35 sensor and the native RF mount (tho RF will be nice in future when more lenses arrive) Also 1900€ more expensive here than the s5 ii x. But yeah, internal vnd is amazing, shutter angle is available in the s5 ii x. False color is nice, not using it as much as I should but I also like the waveforms and vectorscope with the Lumix!
      But I ca understand you love your camera! :D

    One big issue i find \with the s5iix, you have terrible, i mean terrible rolling shutter when you add an ND filter. shooting with a sirui 50mm, ND filter, 180 degrees, f2.2, 24fps, at base iso of 640 during the day time, everything looks jello

    • @AlexReinholdsson
      @AlexReinholdsson  Рік тому +1

      Really? I haven’t actually used in such a scenario yet😨 good to know. But just with an nd? Not without?

      @@AlexReinholdsson that’s the trippy part. I was showing my wife the issue, so I thought you would see the jello film without the ND, well the rolling shutter did not appear until after I added the ND FILTER…. Not sure if because of the amount of light is being introduced, it could mess with the sensor? I’m not sure … do you use any stabilization? Like I know the camera has an anamorphic stabilization

      @@AlexReinholdsson so far yes it is my A cam. Decided to invest into this because it was cheaper, but with great video specs. Thinking about returning it a going with a fx3 :/ but after talking to some people, an issue that may be causing the rolling shutter is the e stabilization. Going to try it again without stabilization

      @@jonathanfang9612 ah okay I see, might be the reason for sure. I’ll look into it as well. But yeah, the fx3 is also a great camera but it is also a lot of trade-offs.. so depending on what you do mostly you’ll have to see what camera to go with :)
