Omg... Love your enthousiam when you talk about the camera. Makes it way nicer to watch a video getting a good mood. I am sooo in doubt as I have a Fuji XT 3 with 6 lenses but this camera looks like a huge step up. Thanks for your video and a big 👍
You absolutely can Shoot JPGs with baked in LUTs and thats the reason iam going to switch to Lumix completely. Shoot some sample images with a the flat photo style and adjust your presets to these. There's a program that allows you to convert any changes you do in lightroom to a LUT which you can load then onto the camera. Also works with photoshop.
Sean from Lumix USA had a detailed video last spring as part of the weekly LUMIX LIVE series on how to create the LUTS in Photoshop, convert them and then load them on to the S5ii. Emily from Micro Four Nerds had a really helpful video as well. She also has some custom LUTS for sale on her website for a very reasonable price.
Wow, are you me? Started with a 5d m3, went to an R6, then an X-H2s, now my X-H2s is bricked and back at Fuji for the second time in less then a year, seriously considering just buying an S5IIx! Great video
You have a great camera in your hand. I picked up the S1 years ago when they launched full frame and now I added the X to the team. I just put out a anamorphic video, love the camera.
@@rossandhisjpegs I picked up the SIRUI 50mm T2.9 for my work flow. Since the release of that lens they have put out a couple more, I honestly would look at the one they offer with neutral flares. Mines has blue flares, and honestly I like the look without the flaring. It's a plus when I want it, but when I don't, I just want the look the lens gives without flares. Very clean
Congrats on the new camera, always exciting trying something new! But it does look like a fantastic pro hybrid camera, and yeah the design is awesome too. L mount opens up a lot of tasty (and expensive) options as well haha. Looking forward to seeing more work with it!
Lovely video Ross, learned a lot from you about the S5iix, thanks. Love Northern Ireland btw, was there in May with my camera and drone. beautiful part of the world, as of course is the ROI.
Really enjoyed watching this!!🙏🏼As a Sony shooter, if I’d not already purchased the A7IV (also a wonderful camera with incredible AF and lens lineup) I would have seriously considered an S5IIX! What an absolute BARGAIN for a beast of a camera!
Love the way you come across. Very genuine. Keep doing what you're doing. Im changing my nikon dslr and lenses to a more tactile system for video and photo. Which camera do you suggest fuji h2s or lumix here. Cant afford both. Plus can you suggest 2 lenses i should buy also?
Aww thanks so much! That means a lot. Yeah personally I’d go for the LUMIX S5II or S5IIX - it’s so good for both video and photography and I’d say probably more user friendly than the Fujifilm if you don’t already have experience with either system. The LUMIX lenses are great. I have the LUMIX S 18 & 50 & 85 and the Sigma 24-70. If I could keep two only I’d keep the Sigma 24-70 and the LUMIX S 85mm!
Really appreciate the advice. I'm a documentary maker. Normally for radio but often film interviews and b roll for social media. You must do a video on rigging it for a shoot. What small rig gear and mics you use etc. Nice to see the north love the sea up there. I'm in Laois, Ireland bang in the middle
Love the backdrop and the video is super helpful! Would be nice to be able to have more b roll and close up shots of the screen settings that you're talking about
nice I picked it up for a lot of the same reasons to complement my bmpcc4k on multicam sets for the af and also for photograpy since clients started asking for pics too
Thanks!! I probably prefer the X-H2s for video and the S5IIX for photography. I missed full frame with the X-H2s and so the LUMIX (in my opinion and for how I like to shoot) is better for photography. The LUMIX S series are grand! I’ve been using them a lot. Maybe a little bit of CA wide open but it’s not a huge issue. I sold the XF 33mm f1.4 in favour for the cheaper 35mm f2 for my X-T4 for photography. Hope this helps, any specific Q’s let me know!
This is the best VFM camera for full frame video excellence. I want one! But just interested in why not a R6 II? Fell short on pro video specs? Pricey, photo centric lenses? Other?
Yeah a mix of all those reasons! Price, lenses and I didn’t really dig the Canon C-Log3 footage from my R6. The S5IIX is a banger for both photo and video, it’s cheaper, looks cool, has more features, better stabilisation and wayyy more lens options. I’ve found the R6 for photography quality wise incredible and reliable but I definitely don’t get inspired when using it.
congrats dude!! Actually fourth reason is so important to me too, But when I Press back button there aren´t appear any options to get black bars in my camera, is there any other way to get them? I really aprecciate your coments about it.
Aww thanks so much! For sure, obvs haven’t had a massive chance to test every setting but right now my main shoot settings would be RAW for photography and edit in Lightroom and for video 6k 25p 4:2:0 or C4K 25p 4:2:2 or C4K 50p (aps-c crop) 4:2:2 Anything else you’d like to know?
I current shoot on the Canon EOS R, but the recording limit, 4k crop, hit-or-miss AF, plus no 3rd party lenses makes me tempted to move to a new platform. At the moment i am *possibly* going to trade in my gear to mpb for a r6 mak II. Would a Lumix S5 IIx be a better camera for product/edc photo and video for UA-cam and IG?
Hey! I love this camera for sure. It’s probably not as good as R6 for pure quality of photography but is wayyy better (IMO) for video, usability, features, lens options, stabilisation etc. My wife is a product photographer and she’s stuck with her R6 for now whereas I am fully over to the S5 IIX for all my professional work!
@@engineer4862It’s just my opinion but it’s got a better hit rate for autofocus, it’s cleaner at higher ISO and the RAW files are just much nicer to work with. But again, just my opinion. They’re definitely close though :)
At the end do you feel that the lumix works better then the fuji? I'm deciding between the s5 iix and the fuji h2s.. I really like the image of both, but in fact it seems that lumix offers more things .. and the size / weight of the camera bodies is the same, what do you think after a few days?
Yeah! IMO the LUMIX lenses, autofocus, stabiliser, ergonomics, menus, dual native iso, RAW files are better. I think I prefer Fujifilm’s Film Simulations, F-Log2, battery life and 6k 4:2:2 footage but I can live without these for professional work. I am keeping my X-T4 though as my personal camera for the recipes and film simulations :)
@@rossandhisjpegs have you found a way to fix this? Someone said that filming 6k or 4k would prevent it. Not sure. I might just buy it, test the heck out of it and return it if it gives me issues.

Да, камера топ. Она очень универсальна, и хороша для документалистики , даже в дождь.
I'm just waiting for Lumix to bring out a higher resolution camera with phase detection (S1R successor?). I love how compact their f 1.8 lenses are!

Yeah I’m sure it would be! V-Log is lovely to work with. Moire might be an issue?
Make more videos about this camera if possible 70-200 simga lens
