Tile grout - great idea. COuld be brushed into treads as well. Problem with sanding treads is that the grroves are still shiny like new. Some dust or paint in there will look much better. Thanks for the idea! Your best rusting effort yet! Looks GREAT! or Not great as the case may be. Love the rust.
Much of the chrome trim on the '57, including the grille in that gaping front maw, is actually gold, as can be seen in photos. A little dry-brushing with gold would highlight that.
I want you to know your videos have sparked my interest in modeling again been a lot of years but I can see lots of enjoyment during those boring days of retirement. Thank you.
I would only do weathered builds if something turned out wrong with my model, I would weather it and make it a barn find. And, I have found that I really like the old rusty car look. It's an earned thing to have rust.
YOU KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK WITH THIS 1 BROTHER. Fantastic job, some people see rust and dents as a bad thing but for me it's a badge of honor. The history and story of such a long life of joy and happiness
I absolutely get what you're doing. Probably the best way. Personally, I try to do a new build. Gleaming showroom. For a while. Maybe dry-brush some rust on the carriage. Then swap on the custom valve covers, dent a fender. A decent model should keep you occupied.
I enjoy the stories that you tell to go along with these builds. In fact, it has inspired me. I started building my first model in over 20 years tonight. Prices have gone up a bit.
Thank you again for sharing your awesome reviews, builds, techniques, and tricks. I can't tell you how much I have learned from your videos, and I have been building for about 35yrs. I'm for sure a life long fan and keep em coming. Everyone keep yourself and love ones safe and healthy and remember to smile.
You can use tissue and white glue on seats to simulate leather. Paint them with flat paints and rub the dry seats with your finger to give them some shine.
HO scale slot-car decals provide all kinds of sponsor decals for applying directly to parts in larger kits, I.e. shocks, batteries, filters, etc. The larger the scale the.more those parts scream for added detail.
Amazing. Love the idea with the blankets. Something I would love to see in the future is how to tackle the dirt that accumulates from something like an endurance race. So stuff like brake dust, exhaust soot, all the rubber and marbles and smudges that build up on the front and sides of the car.
I always learn something new with each of your builds. I'm using your weathering methods on my N scale railroad cars & locomotives too. Keep up your great work
Very cool build. I just did something similar to your seats on a model I recently finished. You can make tarps using tissue and a glue/water mixture. I covered the downed top of an AMT 70 Coronet Super Bee I converted from a hardtop to a convertible.
Simplemente..maravilloso, soy un gran seguidor de tus videos. Y este sin dudas fue uno de los model mas lindos que vi entre otros de tu colección.!! Un abrazo grande desde Argentina admiro tus trabajos.
I used to love building these big-scale kits. My favorite was a Revell Ferrari 275 GTB in 1/12 scale! The big problem was finding space in my little room for the finished models! I don't remember the whitewall inserts on the big AMT kits, but then the only one I built was the '55 T-Bird (not the '57). I wonder if the current '57 kit was a retooling of the '55? Anyway, that one ended up as a mild custom candy blue using those fat Goodyear radials included with a beautiful set of 3-piece chrome wire wheels included in the kit (2 wheel halves that were keyed to each other and finished with a chrome knockoff spinner- man that was beautiful! Thanks again!
I am building a Chevy ciatation I took some tips form your work and weathered the underside it looks good thanks for the videos keep them coming for us
Your builds are awesome! Thank you for sharing your craft with us. I used to build a lot of models as a kid and I want to get back into it. Do you have a video on your paint booth/parts holder apparatus setup? Looking forward to your next build!
Search the channel home page for the booth review, 'how to paint with cheap spray cans' video and every video inn the last couple years is full of tips and tricks for fun easy model making. Thanks! The stands are Tamiya paint stands and helping hands for soldering.
That was great to watch, best beater you have done yet. I have seen the PVA glue on fabric technique before but not tried it myself. I think you build scale models for the same reason as myself, just the enjoyment of making something your own. Its a pity kit manufacturers do not make kits of some British cars from the 70's and 80's, I remember plenty as a kid that were real rotty grotty rust boxes that would make good junker displays.
I remember a movie from the late 90's called Joe Dirt, this looks like a Joe Dirt car. He would have a mullet, a Def Leppard shirt, acid wash jeans, dirty white sneakers and a beer belly, and not give a damn what anyone thinks.
Wow! Another great build! I like the blanket idea! I did something similar with a willys army jeep. It had a case of ammo in back and i covered it with a tarp in the manner you did. The duct tape is awesome! I specifically bought a 70 something monte carlo so i could do it up this way. I gotta get crackin on it. Oh yeah! You didnt use dollar store super glue! You went name brand with crazy glue! Haha! 😂 Keep on makin your videos. Out of all my subscriptions I watch your vids the most!😊
I like all your videos, but I keep looking for the rest of the Revell P-51 Mustang build-up from a few months back.... I WANT those new Revell kits and was anxious to see a regular builder's review of it... I have a friend who wired one of these 57 kits up with dash lights head lights, tail lights and the like.... he has a mind blowing BONE STOCK 57 black hardtop, he also has a very low miles 57 210 2 door sedan....those are in 1:1 scale... :D
I did the parts review but it's simply too time consuming to finish off. It's an excellent kit, you can't go wrong with it, I just don't have the time for all that very fine detailing it will take at the moment.
its always hard to see such beautiful cars beat up, but you knocked this one out of the park with the details
Thanks Randy!
He is a lucky guy to get a girl in that car. No back seat shenanigans. Another great build. I don't build 1/16, but it is fun to watch you.
Thank you! Cheers!
This is probably one of my new favorite builds from you! its got so much character!
Thank you! Cheers!
Love these beat up ones you do - the idea with the blankets is great - looks so real. That tape holding the door is funny - neat idea.
Thank you! Cheers!
Much of the chrome trim on the '57, including the grille in that gaping front maw, is actually gold, as can be seen in photos. A little dry-brushing with gold would highlight that.
Thanks for the cut off marks explanation I was wondering 👍👍 10:46
No problem 👍
awesome i like the blanket technique
Thank you! Cheers!
I want you to know your videos have sparked my interest in modeling again been a lot of years but I can see lots of enjoyment during those boring days of retirement. Thank you.
Great to hear! Enjoy your hobby!
The cloth over the seats looks great. A lovely crusty looking car.
Thanks David!
Now all we need is the 1/16 hard top version and '55 hard top reissued!
I had the ‘55 kit when I was growing up.
That is all we needed since hardtops last issue - seems the molds are lost
or ruined as even the Nomads have been reissued.
I would only do weathered builds if something turned out wrong with my model, I would weather it and make it a barn find. And, I have found that I really like the old rusty car look. It's an earned thing to have rust.
WOW# That is a Big Motor 👍😯 Awesome👍
These big kits are Brill 😀 I really have to try one of these 😎
Yes they are!
Excellent job of weathering, kudos
Thank you very much!
YOU KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK WITH THIS 1 BROTHER. Fantastic job, some people see rust and dents as a bad thing but for me it's a badge of honor. The history and story of such a long life of joy and happiness
Thanks a lot Teddy!
I collect Die-cast models but once in a while I like to build a model
Just got this kit for Christmas. I’m super excited for the build!
Hope you enjoy it!
Love the duct tape never be shy about thinking outside the box another great job sir !!!!!
Right on!
I absolutely get what you're doing. Probably the best way. Personally, I try to do a new build. Gleaming showroom. For a while. Maybe dry-brush some rust on the carriage. Then swap on the custom valve covers, dent a fender. A decent model should keep you occupied.
Again Chris excellent build, you really know how to weather a kit. Awesome. 👍👍
Glad you like it!
I enjoy the stories that you tell to go along with these builds. In fact, it has inspired me. I started building my first model in over 20 years tonight. Prices have gone up a bit.
That is awesome! Enjoy your hobby first and foremost!
Nice weathering effect looks very realistic.
Thank you! Cheers!
I use to love doing these as a kid, wish I was this good, I am a subscriber from now on!
Thanks for watching!
1/16 NICE 👍.
Car came out awesome.
Love the rusty look , duct tape is so cool .
All good. Mike Espo .
Thanks!
Light blue reminds me of Cuba, cars, houses, bicycles, so many thing are in light blue.
Blinding job, looks super 👌 👍
Thank you again for sharing your awesome reviews, builds, techniques, and tricks. I can't tell you how much I have learned from your videos, and I have been building for about 35yrs. I'm for sure a life long fan and keep em coming. Everyone keep yourself and love ones safe and healthy and remember to smile.
Much appreciated man!
Love these dirty, weathered looking models. They always peak the imagination. Great work once again. Can’t wait to see the next one.
You and me both!
The quack tape across the door is a nice touch.
Thank you! Cheers!
Fantastic ! The blankets on the seats look perfect , great looking build .
Glad you like them!
You can use tissue and white glue on seats to simulate leather. Paint them with flat paints and rub the dry seats with your finger to give them some shine.
So glad you built a banger not a show rod
😁👌
🤙 Thanks!
Great job again Chris. I love the colors and weathering. Can’t wait to see future builds
More to come!
I can't believe how much I like this jalopy! What a wonderful build!
Thank you very much!
Really Great Build!
Cool build, with all of the 1/16 amt kits coming back maybe we can get Revell to bring back the 1/16 IROC.
Maybe!
That's seriously bad ass,nice job
HO scale slot-car decals provide all kinds of sponsor decals for applying directly to parts in larger kits, I.e. shocks, batteries, filters, etc. The larger the scale the.more those parts scream for added detail.
Really enjoyed watching this, 50 minutes passed quickly. Just tipping my toes into the model game and looking forward to watching more videos
Glad you enjoyed it! Grab a kit and start having fun!
The key? Build it the way you want. The only test is, did it come out the way you wanted it to?
Wow...that looks fantastic. Another great build.
Thank you kindly!
Amazing. Love the idea with the blankets. Something I would love to see in the future is how to tackle the dirt that accumulates from something like an endurance race. So stuff like brake dust, exhaust soot, all the rubber and marbles and smudges that build up on the front and sides of the car.
I think it would be almost identical in method, just use greys, blacks, soot colors.
LOVE the 1:16 (Super Scale) kits! Another terrific build!
Thanks!
Very nice detailing. I’m not really a fan on the big kits, but I do appreciate them. You have been on a modeling frenzy. Keep the projects coming.
Thanks so much 😊
I always learn something new with each of your builds. I'm using your weathering methods on my N scale railroad cars & locomotives too. Keep up your great work
Great to hear!
That looked super fun... love the used abused but not used up look that you create. Good job my friend!
Thank you! Cheers!
That is beautiful, well done, like the blanket idea, I would do it again.
Thank you! 😊
Excellent! Love the weathered stuff you do.
Thank you very much!
Awesome looking build.
Thanks!
Amazingly realistic. One of your best builds!
Thank you very much!
Terrific kit and build, love the seats, thank you
Thanks!
Had a friend with a 56 Chevy just before he restored it. Great video of this model. Tku for the ideas. 👍 😀
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great job.
Thank you! Cheers!
I expected more detail in a 1:16 scale but you did a hell of a nice job with it. Congrats from a fan in Ensenada Mexico
Thanks Juan!
If you get Tamiya-like detail and hundreds of parts, you're to get a Tamiya price tag and spend months on the build. Each to his own.
Love this one , great idea with the seat covers
Thanks so much!
Chris one of your best wheathing builds great job keep them coming thank you
Wow, thanks!
A nother fine build, Sir
Thank you! Cheers!
Looks EXACTLY like an old Army blanket in the back seat. Front seat looks like he used an old, heavy curtain. Very cool kit. I dig it all...
Thank you! Cheers!
Chris you do a great job of giving your models character great build 👍👍
Wow, thanks!
Fantastic build!
Glad you like it!
What a fantastic build i could see my brother driving it down the road lol
Thank you! Cheers!
Very cool build. I just did something similar to your seats on a model I recently finished. You can make tarps using tissue and a glue/water mixture. I covered the downed top of an AMT 70 Coronet Super Bee I converted from a hardtop to a convertible.
Cool, thanks!
Nice. Reminds me of my rusted out 64 Nova from years ago.
That’s awesome! Great build
Thank you! Cheers!
Great build. I like your weathering.
Glad you like it!
Simplemente..maravilloso, soy un gran seguidor de tus videos. Y este sin dudas fue uno de los model mas lindos que vi entre otros de tu colección.!! Un abrazo grande desde Argentina admiro tus trabajos.

Killer build Chris, totally love the the interior seat covers! Very nicely done👏👏👏👏
Thanks Ron!

Dollar store sometimes has those mini tubes of Krazy glue so I always grab a dozen.
Thanks for watching Bruno!
Great car, great build, loved it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks like a fun kit to build!!! 👍👍👍
It is!
Nice build.
Thanks!
You should try crack at the 1/16 79 Trans Am SE, comes with T-Tops, opening hood, opening doors, and alot more, pretty fun build
Cool!
Aw! Poor '57! Looks like it needs to be rescued! 😀

Thank you! Cheers!
You're Welcome
Rusted & crusted - it would hurt
to see a real classic showing
age and miles, waiting for
some TLC.
Thank you! Cheers!
Super cool 🤭 Love Chevy 🇺🇲
Right on!
Matte mod podge would have worked better on the cloth seat. Just a heads up. Nice work as always.
Looks great Chris. I have a few of the 16th scale kits fun to build.
Go for it!
very good details 👍👍👍 i like it!
Thank you! Cheers!
I like all your videos, but I keep looking for the rest of the Revell P-51 Mustang build-up from a few months back.... Thanks 👍
kool
RJ
Thank you!
Another amazing and awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Judging from the ca glue you used... Looks like the dollar store was closed. 😀😀😀😀😀
I ve seen that a good rug simulation is achieved through the application of some kind of powder
Awesome!
Love it, His Girlfriend spit shines the Chevy Badge like a pro.
Great work HPI.
Glad you like it! LOL
Great looking build Chris, the weathering is awesome! KUTGW buddy.
Glad you like it!
for the bodyWell, you always do a good job, but as the blue is very 50's I would have chosen the red for the body, congratulations
I dont know if you remember the movie the heavenly kid but Im gonna do mine that way
I do, enjoy!
Very nice rusted model 👍 If the tyres were deflated, it would done a better effect 😉
Hard to drive this clunker with flat tires, I want it to look like it still runs, barely.
@@hpiguy Yes, I understand. So... Keep on running !
