For high-born in feudal Japan, Art and beauty were at the same level of importance as War. That's why they both watched the sunrise. Also, it was kinda symbolic - Yabushige thought it was the end of his life but he received a new life, and the sun went up for him once again :)
This was the episode that got my respect for john ( won't call him barbarian ), this mf just wont give up, everytime he's about to die he's like '' nah fuck this I'm not dying here'' , he knows how to save himself from certain death and even save others and thats what made me like him

5:57 That whole convo with Fuji and her grandfather is one of the hardest in the whole series. I mean, I guess you could say that about a lot of convos but you'll see. (And her grandfather has been one of Toronaga's top generals for decades.)
