Such an awesome gift! Thank you to whomever sent such a selfless gift❤ Judging by the plug, could for sure go a little leaner and still be pretty safe but it definitely isn't way too rich👍🏻

Buddy, this was so fun and the muffler mod is a great thing for easy returns for sure. Made me a believer getting to do these tests myself! Thanks for watching and I am totally impressed by the ported saws manners. Too good. Start with 2 pulls from cold?!?!??! NICE!
That’s freakin awesome!! Can’t believe that can noodle like that. I can’t leave anything stock even muffler modded the ms170 I had lol. The 660 is back in business now, torqued the flywheel wrong.
Good to hear the 660 is back up man. Am I wrong but can you place the flywheel on the crank without the key in the correct position and torque it down and it will stay out? Appreciate you watching another and I could NOT believe that saw pulling like with the grain. INSANE!
Yes you can, I just wanted to get at least 1 tank through it all stock. Will be playing with advancements soon and a muffler mod for sure. Buy a tach you will feel more comfortable with tuning, It sounds very good though.
Love this video bud, i really like the newer Echo saws and am looking forward to getting one soon. Question for you, if you didn't open the clamshell, what sort of portwork was done to this saw?
The ported saw was a gift to the channel so I am unaware of the exact modifications done to it. I can tell you this, the builder sure worked magic on this little saw. Big gains can certainly be had with an appropriate muffler mod as well. My Echo CS-620P is currently in a different shop getting port work done on it so bring that saw to life as well. Thanks for watching, commenting and being here and hope to see you around!
Amazing how much of a difference a muffler can make. I rebuilt a Husky 141 LE (low emission) for a guy at work. Got the saw back together and it would not rev. Would barely idle. Try to rev and stall. I checked everything. Even ripped it all back down again and rechecked all my work. Vacuum tested, pressure tested. Had the carb apart a total of three times. Know what the problem was? The muffler. I bought a cheap hollow can off ebay and low and behold it runs. Runs awesome! Turns out the stock muffler on that "Low Emissions" EPA saw was absolutely choking it off so it would barely run and couldn't rev.
This is very interesting to me. After I ran the stock one muffler modded, the stock muffler truly makes it feel broken! I cannot believe that the saws are cleaner for the environment like this. They literally take 2x longer or more to cut the same amount of wood. They are quieter, that is for sure! Thank you again and I appreciate the story
👍👍 you could lean it out a bit. Going to get cold soon, so not that big of a deal. I’ve leaned them out a lot and they seem limited to around 12.5. Always a dance with limiters for best tune. With muffler mods on these, in my experience, the harder and hotter you run them the better they run!
Alright buddy! I was having so much fun. Will have to do some tuning off of camera. Tuning a saw on film is like trying to type or drive a nail with someone over your shoulder. Hahahaha.
Agreed…my personal one is typing while someone is watching! Lol. You will find out what works best for you. 2.5” drywall screw is all you need to pull the limiters on that muffler modded one…hint, hint…..
I like this saw. Works well. Tore up the original bar and chain. Anyone can tell me if I can run the KAKEI 18”, 3/8 LP pitch, .050 gauge, 62 drive links onto my Echo CS 310?
@@oakiewoodsman no I have not owned or ran one I have watched several videos on other guys that have them like Jeremiah from outdoor and the 608 has some modded saws my buddy that owns @bulldogtreecare has a hot Saul in storage. Echo CS-501P or Husqvarna 545 are going to be $500-600 chainsaws (depending on the bar/chain you buy with it). The Echo CS-310 is $220 with a 16" Echo bar & chain. To be fair to the person thinking about buying their first chainsaw - how much money is invested into your CS-310? I only ask, because I don't know.
cs-310 are about $220 new right now from HD I believe and can be had for really inexpensively used off of FB marketplace or eBay. I purchased mine about 5 years ago for around $200 I believe. A muffler mod can be pretty much free or very inexpensive. Some scrap pipe and some black High Temp bbq paint if you can braze. Some ppl just punch holes, drill and grind. These two mufflers were done very well and certainly both contribute to the saws running so well. A 545 is about $649 here locally and a 501P is a little less but the prices on Echo have been coming up a bit here recently.
Plug looks pretty damn good the way it is. I wouldn't lean it out anymore personally. I tune in the cut. I listen for a 4 stroke when the saw is unloaded but will cleanup under load.
Thank you for the feedback! I find that these little saws with limited coils and popping due to who knows what are very hard to tune by ear. I have got in the habbit of tuning for pull in the cut. Also, IMHO I think ECHO saws are the most difficult to tune than anything else I have had my hands on. My 660 ported Clone is SIMPLE to tune. The 4 stroke is clear and apparent. Thank you again!
@@oakiewoodsman I had a similar problem with that little Husky 141 LE. I couldn't tell it was 4 stroking until it was in the cut and I'd lift up on it mid-cut and it would 4 stroke and then when I'd put it back down it would clean up. Have a good one

Is there a video of muffler mod onstock cs310
Not that I am aware of. One of my subs sent the saw and muffler to me.
Only a Muffler Mod makes this Difference?........ Wow awesome 👍
Yes.... the porting is not quite as important on a clamshell type saw. Though there are gains, the most comes from the opened up muffler.
I have a cs352 that I did a muffler mod on, I was going to port it but the mod woke it up so much, I didn't do it.
Nice. The gains from a muffler mad are incredible! Great place to start and maybe even end. Thanks for sharing!
My muffler is opened up way more than yours was, so you might be able to squeeze even more power from it
