New Echo CS310-14 Chainsaw first run, and info!

  • This is my first video. I would like to get a bunch of informational videos about all things Echo, Shindaiwa, and Echo Bearcat.
    In this video, I'm just showing people what a brand new saw does. To date all Echo units have adjustable carburetors, and most people are missing out on a LOT of performance that having it tuned slightly, will unlock for them.
    This is a brand new in box Echo CS310-14, it's a 30.5 cc chainsaw, which weighs 8.8 lbs dry, without bar or chain. It has an easy start system, and a fully commercially rated engine. A 5 year consumer warranty, and 1 year commercial warranty.
    If you have any questions, or want any more info, please don't hesitate to leave a message.

    Awesome saw and very light for small work. Just bought a CS-4910 and so far it's a awesome saw also.

    That's a great little saw. It's the smallest out of what I run but it gets it done - just like all Echo products. It would only hit 9k rpm out of the box and had a sluggish idle. All it took was pulling out the jet screw limiting caps and 5 mins of my time to tweak it. After hours of limbing my left arm and shoulder gained the ability to speak and actually thanked me.
    All these guys that have issues with this saw must not understand small engines. It's only 3 things: gas, air and spark. But not everybody has a knack for such things. To be fair, a new machine near sea level at moderate temps should fire up and run well.

    I've had the Echo straight shaft weed cutter for about three years. It worked great off the rack from Home Depot, and still works great today! It still starts on the first couple of pulls, even in cold weather. The chain saw motor sounds about the same, and seems to perform well and after watching your review I've narrowed it down pretty well. Thanks for the review.

      I have an Echo 28cc powerhead with multiple attachments (the PAS models). I bought it 15 years ago and beat the snot out of it. Even loaned it out. Never tuned up. It starts like new. It will outlast me. The CS310 is not built to the same level (it costs less of course), but I'm happy with mine.

      @echocanadawestern644  3 роки тому +1

      @clark engelman the adjustments that are made are on the high and low circuits on the carburetor. If you don't know what you're doing, you can destroy your motor, and it won't be covered under any warranty, so be careful and do some research. There's a lot of videos on UA-cam on proper adjustment process.

      @@echocanadawestern644 I have a few of these I got from a turnback bidder. The saws are pretty doggy from the factory and tune a bit strangely, but with a muffler mod they really wake up on the low end torque side. I don't notice a huge change on top end rpm but the extra torque lets you lay into the saw and muscle it more. They still start easy too after the mod. The only bad thing is parts are stupid expensive for this line. A bare clutch cover is $25 and to add the adjuster is another $25. Most of the saws get these parts taken off when they are sold as turnbacks making them cost prohibitive to repair.

  • @slinkybandinky2775

    I didn't get what you did to the carb. Is there an idle screw that you adjusted? If not, do you have to take off things to get to the adjustment? Sorry for the questions, I am not mechanically inclined. I can change my oil, that's about it.

    • @echocanadawestern644
      @echocanadawestern644  3 роки тому

      So, what I did was adjust the High mixture screw, which should only be done by trained mechanics, or at least someone that knows what they are doing with a 2 cycle engine. If you don't do it correctly, you can seize your motor, which will not be covered by any warranty. Depending on where you bought the saw, you can usually get the dealership to do this adjustment. there are some proper tools required to do it correctly.

      Final wide open throttle on the CS-310 should be 12K to 13K rpm, max. If you can get it in that range, you're doing good. AS long as you're following the correct adjustment procedures!

    I will be purchasing one of these saws simply because we have other echo products and love them, and I've done some research and the echo seems to be the best out of the other saws! However do you think just by running a couple of tanks through the saw it will open it up the way it did with you by adjusting the carb?

    • @echocanadawestern644
      @echocanadawestern644  3 роки тому +1

    • @echocanadawestern644
      @echocanadawestern644  3 роки тому +2

      Sounds like there's still some adjustments to be made. If you purchased it from a dealership, I know they will do a carb adjustment for you to get the most out of the saw. There's a very specific procedure, and tools require to do it properly, like a digital tach, and the proper limiter cap removal tools. It is a very tight saw out of the box, and running a good 5 or more tanks through it before making any major adjustments is a very good idea.

      I run a 16” bar and chain. I haven’t run the 14” version and I wonder how it compares. The 16 is a bit doggy and needs to be run somewhat soft handed. And as others have mentioned, comes loose no matter what I tighten down but not too bad. Starts every single time the same, choke, 2 pulls, close choke, put money that the next pull it fires. Every single time who does that but echo. Warning: don’t ever “upgrade” to the Oregon bar for this. it turns this beast into a decrepit dangerous pos.
