hey my friend great video !!! just an FYI, when putting your burr into your foredom or dremil . push the shank all the way in . then just pull it an 1/8 of an inch out and then tighten it . this will prevent bending the shaft as it did, or even breaking it. just a little tip that was pointed out to me by fellow wood carvers ,that helped me out a lot . love your vidios man , keep on sharing your knowledge and what you do !
This is a great series on the 590. I bought a 590 a couple of years ago and just did a muffler mod to it right away and found out that it was a major hold back of power. I like the results so much that I ended up selling my Stihl MS360 and keeping the little echo. Keep up the good info sharing 🤙
@@Tatted_gunna I did something very similar to what Tinman has done. Cut open the exit hole and then I went in with a drill bit to punch a bunch of holes in the baffling. It has been awhile but I think that was what I did to open up the muffler on the 590.
As mentioned before, with having to restrict flow to meet government regs, it's understandable that they have to build the mufflers the way they do to pass inspection.... That being said, it would be super nice if they would put a knockout plug (like a metal electrical box) to make it quick and easy for the end user to get the designed performance out of the saw 😁
As nice as that would be, the government doesn’t want you to modify anything for better performance, as the excuse of emissions/ and or safety, so manufacturers leave this opportunity alone for the end user, and a lit of these mods will void warranty! The cs590 has a five year warranty! So when I mod mine, it will be done on a second muffler!😂
Haven't had a tank ran through my cs590 and already sent it to Iowa Performance Saws for a muffler mod and tune removing the limiters and getting it back Tuesday, I can't wait for it to get here to see how it runs now
Really like how you chose to do the muffler mod as it keeps the spark arrestor in use. Like the new camera view set-up as well. Once ported this 590 will definitely out-perform a stock 562. I noticed you didn't show or mention blowing/washing out the metal shavings from the modded muffler. Pretty much a given for the experienced, not so much for a newbie. Love this series on the 590. Huge Echo fan myself... 501P and 620P in my stable.
I had to go to the non-bypass main jet just to get it to 2 stroke at 8 thousand feet. I have a 620p and a 600p plus I rebuilt two 590s. Did the carb jet replacement on all of them. I also found with stock porting at altitude, it really lost torque if I tuned it for high rpm. They like to be a bit rich. Echo makes a nice saw. I love that almost all of the screws are the same and you can pull the carb in about 2 minutes. Snug the screws only, no cranking them down or they will strip out. Parts are expensive as well, a negative. Bar sizes are goofy stock too.
Perfect for video it seemed to be easier for you than having to move in closer and check for being in frame! With all the regulations manufacturers have to comply with restricted mufflers are to be expected. I agree wholeheartedly with porting and getting more fuel in will obviously cause more heat and it needs more space to exit. Looking forward to this build. I’m especially interested in where the high jet ends up afterwards. I’m guessing a turn and an eighth. Thanks for taking the time to video this.
I just started modding my 590, watched all your videos about the saw. My first mod was swapping out that semi fixed high jet, coupling that with a muffler mod and unlimited coil. I'm going to get it into wood for tuning soon. I'm excited for the results.
Great job bud. Interesting seeing what it did letting it breath. I think all saws are restricted way to much in the muffler. As always WORK SAFE!!!!😎🇨🇦🇺🇸
Trigger respons is great...big improvement...I cut at 8to 10k feet in the rockies...need to find out how to get that deal on my dolmar and husky Grest video!
I wonder where you guys get the 620 coils from. They are between $80-120USD everywhere I've looked. Price difference between the 590 and 620 here is only $160, so it seems that adding a 620 coil and carb to the 590 would be more expensive than just buying a 620.
Awesome to see the progress you have made! been awhile since I've watched but I love to see you working and growing still! you and Billy are the reason I bought 5 old homelites last winter and brought them out of their graves!
Cool and easy mod! With an better cuttingspeed and Sound. I'm also very curious about the effect of the of the timing advance when it is done! Thx Tinman!
Always appreciate you shop talk Tinman! Hey, with that mod is there any concern for short-circuiting from the muffler inlet to outlet? Would you have done anything differently?
Tin man I have to husky saws An older 55 and a new 460 Rancher I thought the newer saw would run away from the old 55. But it’s kinda doggy. The old 55 starts every time runs great for a bone stock saw and I just love it Is there any hope to make that new 460 a peppier saw. So disappointed!!! Thank you Andy from Indiana.
I'm either doing something really right or wrong because I NEVER used a spark arrestor and have cut around dark plenty of times...only sparks I've ever seen might come off the bar...never light out my exhaust???
Why do you pull the starter rope on shutdown ? I've been cutting for 42 years and I never do that. I rarely ever have mechanical issues. I see some others doing the same, so just wondering
Question, why do you pull the cord before shutting down the chainsaw. Also, it is a bit hard to understand what you are trimming off the muffler. Great video! just bought one of these. Can't wait to go in the wood and try it out.
takes stress off components in the starter, otherwise everything kinda slams together when you kill it, best way i can explain it. you’ll feel what i mean if you try it
Thank you for the vids, I found you because my Homelite Super XL with a 24" bar and chain from the '70s seized up on me today while cutting up a 55-foot red-oak tree that fell across my private driveway during a storm blocking me in. I had no gas for it so I took it from my car's gas tank with ethanol, mixed it with 2 stroke oil, and by the time I was done trimming and cutting up the branches, which was more like cutting up 10 trees my poor Homelite saw smoked and died. After watching your vids I am considering the CS590 Echo, I am just wondering how many different size bars and chains can I run on it? Or can anyone answer because at times a 24" was too much for the job at hand and at times it was not enough? I would like to buy 3 different size chains and bars for it. No matter what it must be able to handle a 24" bar and chain.
I was wondering if the volume of the muffler acts as a rudimentary expansion chamber? Could it be a place to look for power. Love Echo- have worn out a few.
I hogged mine out quite a bit more aggressively, and I washed it out with soap and water befor running it as it had alot of shavings trapped in it I didn't want going back into the motor
Throttle response seems to be snappy! Never owned echo anything, but I’ve heard that they have come a long way from what they used to be! Loving the build series brother. Thanks for taking us along fir the ride
Really, echo has always made quality products. Now,with their chainsaws people are starting to realize you get a lot of saw for the money. Their saws are getting better and better though. I used to run nothing but Stihl trimmers now it’s all Echo.
Great series on these Echos. Nice to see a different saw than just Sthil and Huskies.

Nice new backdrop for the video’s. Change is always sweet especially when you did such a great job Tinman!
It definitely was night and day with my 590. I can’t wait to see the difference when it’s ported

What kind of mod did you do? Just curious I just purchased one and it’s rlly restrictive. TIA

I did the same muffler mod on my 590. Between that and pulling the limiter tabs, it turned into a different saw. Love how it sounds as well.
I agree, its very stuffed up from the factory
Can't wait to see the next video. I got the 590, it's bone stock hasn't even had a full tank gas through it yet.
Haven't had a tank ran through my cs590 and already sent it to Iowa Performance Saws for a muffler mod and tune removing the limiters and getting it back Tuesday, I can't wait for it to get here to see how it runs now
This is good series 👏. Like wheres its headed

I did the same exact muffler mod this guy did..and I promise that alone woke it up a ton!

Pretty impressive. It is going to kick butt, when finished. Nice work, love the new set-up in the shop. Take Care, Stay Safe and Be Kind...
Amazing production Tinman. Thank you for sharing with your community.
Hey fellow tin knocker did commercial installs and shopwork for 15 yrs in Maine hard work
I just ordered 1 this morning before I saw you had a series on it...first thing I'm doing is this mod...thanks Tinman!!

Nice background, A few years you'll have a collection like Bucken. Im enjoying this series. Stay cool!
I like your neatly stacked chainsaw shelf.
Nice video Tinman.
Now she's starting to get somewhere. Good work sir. 👍
The new setup looks great brother! Thanks for all you do for us newbies love the channel. Have a great weekend.
Made it breathe! Made it snappier too!👍👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🙏🙏🙏
The New setup is great. You should keep that!
I do this to all my 5 series husky’s, reach in under the deflector, hog it out and put the screen back in. Zero welding, works great.
I have an Echo 590 and love it so far. But I'm looking at moding it up and this series is great to show everything step by step.
I just started modding my 590, watched all your videos about the saw. My first mod was swapping out that semi fixed high jet, coupling that with a muffler mod and unlimited coil. I'm going to get it into wood for tuning soon. I'm excited for the results.
Love your “NEW” look Tinman!!!! Great detail and one can REALLY see what your doing!!! Better for you to be setting also!!!👍👍👍
Looks like a good idea opening up the muffler
Like your new "set" . Had a 2015 model 590 and the muffler was different than that one. Pretty much wide open with just the screen.
Great job bud. Interesting seeing what it did letting it breath. I think all saws are restricted way to much in the muffler. As always WORK SAFE!!!!😎🇨🇦🇺🇸
Less restriction is not always better on 2 stroke engines cause they need back pressure to reach peak power
You said it is too dry there? Yeah we definately don’t have that problem in Mississippi right now!
Oh yeah Friday night in the shop!!!!! Loggin in the mornin gettin my gear ready and hangin with the tinman
Trigger respons is great...big improvement...I cut at 8to 10k feet in the rockies...need to find out how to get that deal on my dolmar and husky
Grest video!
when you say high jet 1/2 turn .. you mean you tighten it down all the way then back half turn ? is that correct ?
Good stuff tinman
Great to see this series happen. I'm hoping to buy a used 590 to go with my cS-520, and you sir have a new sub from Oshawa.
Love these vids bro. Have a new 590 coming in 2 days and digging the thought of increasing its power.
We like this, you're informative and show every step.
Yea ...new view is good...just getting into atm
🤔
Awesome series on the cs590. Got me thinking about doing a muffler mod
Overall Tinman, how does these echo saws compare to the old school huskies?
Good set up Tinman.. we will get some wee porting Videos like what uncel Harvey does.👍🏼🏴 Mega content today tinman.
Ok, cut with the 562 with those small mods! Thats thing gonna be a blast to see once you port it!!!
Rite! That 590 once ported shld b a lil closer to a stk 562

NICE SETUP BUDDY THE VIEW WAS BETTER SET UP THAT WAY ,,GREAT JOB BUDDY,NICE SHELVES FOR YOUR POWERSAWS TAKER EASY TINMAN
Maybe 2 ironhorse ramps on the top of the port as well🤫 see how that changes it when you do rough up the intake.
I'd like to see you work out where the spark is triggered in deg btdc..
me too ///how you been
Please explain why you pull the starter cord out before you kill the engine. Thanks
What a sound! Crazy and loud!!!!!
I like your work, but just slow it down a bit bro! Take yer time, keep your stick on the ice, cheers!
New stage looks GREAT !!!! Love my 590 just hate it being stock ;(
Love the new setup
Interesting to see some Bolt-on mods. How bout doing a timing advance and running it again before grinding?
Great build so far👍
Will most larger cc saws benefit from a muffler tweak or 2?
The 562 sure sounds stronger. So the 590 cut basically the same after the carb and coil
Thanks for the video im just getting into chainsaws and im buying an echo. Why do you pull the cord when you stop the motor?

Is this the same saw thay had the 620 carb upgrade and coil?
You could do me a big favour:
Please show how to make a Muffler Mod with a Husqvarna 550 XP Mark 2...
That would be very great 👌🏻
When you re ring the piston on an echo where do you position the gaps?
Is this a better firewood saw than say a ms271 farm boss or 455 rancher ?
I'm either doing something really right or wrong because I NEVER used a spark arrestor and have cut around dark plenty of times...only sparks I've ever seen might come off the bar...never light out my exhaust???
With that little bit extra power you may be able to take another stroke of the file off the depth gages.
Nice job. 👍

That's his saw and hes stickn to it! Lol
Husky 455 or Stihl 291?
Next echo video please😇
Appreciate you. Thank you.
What's with you and Billy Ray pulling the starter cord out before shut down?
All you did was a muffler mod.. and you were able to get a power surge ..????
Man what is with those pants???
Wow! Me likey
🤠😎
Thoughts on this muffler mod on a 590 used at high altitude, 9k feet and can also be hot outside Too, 85 deg, ?
Rough up ports cause less turbulence the air passes through easier.

Was waiting for the sprocket to send that chain plate flying… Glad it didn’t.
Would have been nice to see muffler mod first, since that is least expensive. Great video.
