    1. HOVER DIFFUSING: Elevate your curls with this technique that involves hovering the diffuser over your head to dry your curls without disturbing their natural pattern.
    2. UPSIDE DOWN DIFFUSING: Flip your hair upside down and diffuse for added volume and bounce to your curls.
    3. HAMMOCK DIFFUSING: Create a hammock with silk or satin scarves then hover diffuse.
    4. PIXIE DIFFUSING: Cradle your curls in the diffuser bowl for more defined waves and curls.
    5. PICK DIFFUSING: Use a pick to lift hair away from scalp to help dry curls for lift without disturbing delicate and easy to frizz hair.

    This was a very helpful video. I’m going to try using the pic with the Bellissima diffuser that I bought. Maybe that would help to get more lift on the top of my head. Thanks 😊

    So, I've been wearing my hair in its _natural_ state for about 3 years. I guess you could say I'm still a newbie. 😉 My hair is silver, fine and wavy (2a/2b..I dunno, I never really got the "curl grading" concept down). 😆 I do, in fact, hover diffuse because I was lead to believe that "pixie diffusing" could cause heat damage. If it turns out that that's not the case, I will be diffusing, old school because hover diffusing takes for freakin' ever! Thanks for all the great info! ❤

      Hi Lu.G.! If you pixie diffuse on too high of heat, yes damage can happen. As long as you step it down as the hair dries you’ll create less heat damage. You can always flip over (Upside down method😂) to dry near the scalp after the mid lengths and ends are cradled, which will boost the volume without over drying your ends.
      I hope this helps! Thank you for commenting!➿

    Thanks Erica for this useful video. I've always dried upside down so wondered why my hair was looking crazy now I'm 52 and peri menopause. Could definitely relate to your Medusa reference 😂

    *Amen* . Happy Friday Erica. I have a few points of view regarding diffusing. I shied away from pixie diffusing my "see through" hair because I didn't want to "fry" my ends. Well, I can hover to get a slight cast then pixie on cool and get the best shrinkage for my 2B waves without damage. I do like that pick method and will give that a try, I did use the pick attachment that came with my diffuser for root lift. I agree on the "medusa" effect, it's a no for me. I have said to myself, countless times, "why isn't there a stick style light weight diffuser?". I really want the Bellissima. Thanks for another informative and entertaining video. Have fun in your fish pond. *Question* ? The drugstore box "Color Glossing" systems, how damaging are they? Also, thank you for the protein/bond builder vid. I'm easing in, but hair is responding to the Aphogee treatment and pre-poo bond builder. I've experienced less breakage and better "clumpage". ~Cheers~ 🍷

      Hi Cindy! That’s great that you found the diffusing methods that work for you.
      I’m still loving my Bellissima Diffon Supreme. If you use my link and discount code you can get 10% off of your purchase.
      Glossing is less damaging than permanent color. It uses a lower volume developer which causes less damage.
      Thank you for commenting! Cheers!

    I am 63 silvercurl very fine hair . I always flip my head and Hoover until I get a mild cast and start moving around . When is 80%dry I look around with my mirror and see if I have a cowlick so I use a clip. I get great volume. I have same diffuser that you using.

      You’re so lucky Irma! My hair is just too wacky to do complete upside down nowadays. I hope you’re loving the Bellissima as much as I do? Thank you for sharing your method. ➿💙

    I still have my conair Blackbird 😂. It's so heavy I have to take breaks while using it. I use it with a universal diffuser. I'm cheap so as long as it still works I can't justify throwing it away. When it finally does stop working I'll definitely get something that weivhs less.

    • @coilsandcurls
      @coilsandcurls  3 місяці тому +3

      Those Yellow and Blackbirds are muscle forming blow dryers! You must have beautifully toned upper arms!!
      I hear you about being cheap. “If it ain’t broken, don’t try to fix it.”
      I will tell you, you will be shocked at how light some of the new diffusers are. The Bellissima is the best investment I ever made over one of those more expensive dryers.
      Whenever you do go for a new diffuser, check on how much air is rushed through the diffuser portion. If hair is blowing around too much it will create frizz.

      @@coilsandcurls I received a Bellissima Diffon Supreme for my birthday, and I absolutely love it! All the struggles I had with frizz and just plain wonky curls turned out to be from my hair dryer! I really only wanted the Bellissima diffuser because it would be easier to handle. I didn't expect it to reduce frizz and help restore shine... it's just a blow dryer, right? Wrong!
      First time I used it, I was shocked. "Where's the frizz?! How'd it get so shiny?! I don't hate my hair anymore!" I couldn't believe my eyes. I am so in love with this diffuser, and will tell everyone that it is absolutely worth every penny.

      @Katatawnic I’m so glad you happy with the Bellissima! It’s a game changer.

    The pixie method is much like the hammock method, except you bring the diffuser all the way up to the scalp, the entire bowl flush with the scalp. I do this on the front left portion of my hair, because that section barely curls at all, so the pixie method will help shrink and curl that section a bit more uniform to the rest of my curls. I do a gentle hammock method everywhere else.
    I don't have a pick. I do the same thing, but with my fingers.
    I can't use clips, because I'm one of the lucky ones that gets those awful demarcations from them. I don't section my hair for the same reason. Well, I kind of section it, as in I work in sections, but without pinning anything up. Once I have demarcations, they're there until I wash my hair again! 🤬

    • @coilsandcurls
      @coilsandcurls  2 місяці тому

      Yes, the pixie and hammock method are very similar. Bringing the curls all the way towards the scalp will force the curls to tighten.
      I’m glad you’re able to use your fingers to lift. Not everyone can do that due to certain hair types frizzing more easily. I’m like you, I use my fingers too! Lol!
      Have you tried leaving the clips in for only a few minutes and then move them? I do this with certain clients that have super fine hair that need height.

    Actually the "pixie method" requires you to place the hair in the diffuser and then turning on the heat. Then turing OFF the heat before letting it down again.

      Shows how much I pay attention to these things! Lol! Thank you for clarifying this.

    Seriously, does anyone dry purely upside down? That's crazy. Most curlies flip from side to side and upright and upside down interchangeably while drying - far better results.

    • @coilsandcurls
      @coilsandcurls  3 місяці тому +1

      LOL! When my hair was long, thick, and clumped better, I could dry upside down because the weight of my curls, when I flipped back upright, they fell into place and looked fabulous.
      Now, nope! Since I cut my hair short and my curls have thinned, I do the side to side, upside down, pixie, etc..
      As our curls change, we need to change what we do with them.
      Thank you for watching and commenting! Welcome to the curl family!
