I keep seeing videos where people didn’t know they had curly hair and it’s such a relief because I’m almost 40 and just learned that I have curly hair. 🤪
Omgosh you’re a genius!!!! I’m 54 and until this video I thought I had fine thin straight frizzy dry hair. My hair is actually fine thin and WAVY!!!! This has changed everything for me and how I care for my hair. MIND BLOWN!!!!! Thank you so much for such amazing education!!!!
@aprilrawls5162 my whole life my hair was straight and never frizzy then last summer outside I noticed frizz then started noticing no matter what shampoo conditioner hair oil leave in conditioner and even expensive hair dryers it was still frizzy and beyond frustrating. My hormones are changing due to perimenopause and I'm realizing it's getting really wavy when I let it dry. Hair changes as we get older. It just happens and you have to relearn a completely new way of styling your hair.
That was helpful, thank you. There's a lot of UA-camrs out there, giving direction on wavy/curly hair, but none of them have fine, thin hair, so I appreciate what you do!
I never realized I had wavy hair that could be managed to look cool! I'm 75 yrs old, love makeup and a hair nut! I tried your routine today and I think I did a fair job for the first time! My hair is cut in a blunt short Bob about two inches below chin. You are very easy to follow and understand! I would love to find your video on 3rd 4th day hair ! Thank you and keep giving us great info!
Herringbone pattern is amazing. First time trying it this morning and it is night and day with how my hair looks. I have been watching Manes by Mell for a long time, but had a hard time transferring the info into my very fine very thin hair. Thank you for providing this example. I felt beautiful every time I looked in the mirror today.
80's girl here...lol! My hairdresser taught me this scrunching technique to help air dry my 80s perm back in the day.😊 A big dollop of hair mousse, bend over let your hair drop, and start scrunching, and voila! I'm so happy to see it come back in a more natural way.
I am in my 60s and was retired before I learned how to take care of my kinky/curly hair. Watching videos and reading comments from other people, it looks like I’m not the only one. I’ve always worn my hair straight. Wearing my natural wavy hair gives me more healthy hair
So I had thick, long gorgeous hair. Last December, I had Covid. By February, my hair was falling out horribly. I would fill a brush in 2-3 days. Now, it’s stopped falling out but sadly, I’ve lost 40% of my hair. It’s thin and frizzy. It’s driving me crazy. I used to get so many compliments on my hair.
Yeah, me too. It will grow out. I started taking pre natal vitamins and that might have stopped the shedding. I used Thorne from Amazon. I always wore it long but then cut it shorter and in layers. Looks fuller that way while it grows out.
Putting in your products upside down also adds a lot of volume and definition bc your curls and waves can take their natural shape from roots to ends. I also do not recommend "scrunching out the crunch" trying crushing out the crunch When you "scrunch" you are taking a curl or wave and pushing it upward, but it has a gel coating, the smaller pieces that are glued down will pop out of place and create frizz. Instead, flip your hair to one side and with both hands crush your hair in between your hands, like you are grabbing your hair for a ponytail. Work your hands down your hair crushing it together. Flip your hair to the other side and do the same. You can even take your thumb and index finger creating an imaginary hair tie around your collected hair gentle pulsing your fingers down the bunch of hair crushing out the cast. This helps keep those small pieces from being pushed up and separating from the formed curl or wave. Best wishes👍
I've been neglecting my wavy/ curly hair for a while now and this motivated me to go full out on my routine and define my curls. I've just been brushing it out and wearing a frizzy wavy lions mane (it does look cute though). Thanks sis
I know I have wavy/curly hair, but being a mom of 3 kids and with a full time job, it's too tedious for me to follow the CGM... I just don't have enough time and energy for this :) but this video intrigued me, so I will definitely give it a try. So thank you Gabi for the inspiration!
It doesn't need to be complicated. You just need to experiment a bit and find what works for you. I personally don't spend much time on hair and it still looks really nice and defined. 😉
If you have time to wash your hair, then you have time to make it curly. It only takes the right products to moisturize and lock out humidity, then plop your hair in a t-shirt or cotton cloth. I use muslin that I cut a square off (36” x 36”) and plop my hair overnight. By morning it is nearly dry. I can air dry it without frizz or use the hairdryer for 5-10 minutes.
I always found my curly hair was a blessing and took far less time to maintain as a busy mom. If you don’t need to wash your hair every day, you could extend your curls from one day to the next using dry shampoo. Curly hair is naturally much drier so washing hair and drying daily can be tough on our hair. Just a thought. Oh and use satin pillowcases to keep the curls looking good overnight.
My children are grown and I’m not terribly busy as I’m retired and free to live relaxed & casual. I’ll be damn if I’m gonna get back on the gerbal Ferris wheel! No way!!! This is insanity
This is by far the best tutorial for hidden wavy/curly hair that I've seen! I have been struggling to get volume without frizz. I love the tip about parting. Thank you!!
I’m so happy that it was helpful for you! If you try it out, leave me another comment so that I know how it went for you. Thanks for watching and leaving me some feedback. I appreciate having you here in the channel.
YES! It's crazy right? There isn't a lot of curl education for waves because our hair doesn't even really seem curly until you implement the proper routines and techniques. Then it can be life changing! I'm so glad you have discovered your curls and enjoy them. :)
Thank you for this video! A few months ago I went natural and am currently growing out damaged hair. My natural is super wavy! I have always brushed my hair and never understood why my hair was poofy. I used to have wavy hair when I was young but my hair went through many changes from having kids. I noticed my waves are back. You look absolutely gorgeous with your natural hair . Thank you for a great video💜
I am trying that herringbone pattern! I didn’t realize had curly hair until my 50’s. SMH. I have been using a hair bonnet dryer. Yes I bought on. You get the wetness out, (product already applied), clip around your part, connect bonnet to your hair dryer and then gently put the bonnet on with my head upside down. And trust the curl gods it is getting cute and curly. The best part is I can’t mess with my hair with my hands while it dries. Thanks for sharing all this.
Turned 33 a week ago and for the first time in my life there’s a thorough explanation and understanding for my hair type and how to style it best! I’m elated to say the least! You are incredible for this ❤️
This comment made my day!!! Yay! I’m so happy that you found it to be helpful. If You give this technique a shot, leave me another comment and let me know how it went! Happy Birthday Allysa!
@@GlamGirlGabi I tried it today actually and while it wasn’t perfect cuz I’ll surely perfect it more it DEF WORKED and my hair was so cute with actual volume for once lol I love your videos glad I found your UA-cam channel and I can attest this beautiful woman knows her shit 💯 also thank you so much ❤️☺️
@@allysalee8249 Yaaaay! That is awesome! If it isn't perfect, just do what I do and curl some of the weird pieces when your hair is dry using a wand and VERY LOW heat setting. Thanks for letting me know how it went :)
I was 55 before I figured out I had curly/wavy hair. Super fine and always frizzy. Took my DIL coming into our lives with her super fine, super thick VERY curly hair, and absolutely zero clue of how to deal with it to figure it out. It's been an adventure for both of us. Thank you for all of your help in the process.
Love this! I have 2c hair and did curly girl for a couple of years. It was cumbersome and honestly boring for me. Thank you for sharing your flexible approach. I can do both!
Yes! I feel the same way about CGM. I know myself and I could never be consistent with it. I LOVE styling hair so it would be way too limiting for me. Did you find that your curls got beautiful after doing CGM for a few years?
@@GlamGirlGabi Yes, they were gorgeous but a lot of product and effort to look good every day. I hated the pressure to stick to CGM only. So glad I can play with my hair and use hot tools again - now without guilt!
My hair looks EXACTLY like yours when wet, it’s fine and with waves here and there but not consistent. It literally felt like I was looking in the mirror at my hair. This video was so good! I always straighten my hair because the very few times in my life I tried to style it wavy it would go limp and make me look like a wet dog lol I will definitely give this a try. Thank you!!
Try smasters technique. When almost dru little Gel on wet hands and apply with praying hands. And diffuse. A lot of Boost to your curls. A lot of hoover diffusing makes my fine curl stringy because it dries with wet Gel.
An alternative to using a curling iron on the looser sections is to finger coil then scrunch them before drying. This is what I did when I still had bleached and dyed chunks in the front, which had relaxed my curl pattern. It took a few months of doing this every wash and wet refresh day before they sprung back on their own!
I have curly hair and since I let my hair go to its natural hair color! I need ALOT of moisture in my hair, I use products for ethnic hair because it helps keep my hair smooth and calm! I also only wash it every 3 or 4 days!
I love this! I have the same hair texture as yours. The only problem I noticed is that when I try getting that curly hair look, you can see my scalp more because of my hair loss. I'm going to try it your way see if that helps. You are a thinning, hair loss dream come true. LOVE, love, love your chanel.
Wow, this is the best fine/wavy/curly hair video I've seen (& I've seen a lot!). So many amazing tips. I especially like the brushing & sectioning - this is going to be a game-changer for me! Less than a year ago I realized that my "straight" frizzy hair mess is actually wavy/curly hair. Thank you sooooo much for this! 😀
Isn’t it an eye opening experience when you realize that your unruly hair is actually gorgeous? 😂 I’m so glad that you are also embracing your curls! Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave me some feedback.
@@GlamGirlGabi Hi Gabi! Can u pls tell me what that cool tatoo (the lines) on your underarm signifies? Just wondering bc I've been seeing it alot. I luv your channel!
This vid is over 2 y/o, but I am soooo grateful to have found it. I’ve been on RA and Thyroid meds for years, lost hair at my temples (already discovered biotin and multi vitamins, and a Mediterranean style diet), and struggle with my hair on humid days or near the end of my bi-weekly wash cycles. I’m looking for product recs like this and cute wavy updos for those challenging hair days when I’m short on time. And I have been watching smell for some time now. Love her!
I have your exact hair type. Fine but curly if treated properly. As you described, for years I didn't realize just how curly my hair was until a hair dresser pointed it out and started me down the path of finding techniques for bringing out the curl. It was such a fun discovery! But, as you mentioned, curly hair can get dry, which makes it prone to breakage and because my hair is fine, it is more delicate. I am only now realizing that the reason I might be having trouble getting my hair to grow out longer is because it is breaking! ONLY NOW looking into doing hair masks and trying to find the right products. I haven't had long hair in a while. I was cutting it short for years (quite short) but decided to change it up and found it didn't seem to grow to length very quickly. Now there is hope. Thanks!!!
I was on a strict cgm method before but it wasnt doable on a daily basis cause of my hectic work schedule and my scalp is so itchy from the build up so I try different methods to find what works for me. What I do is I shampoo my hair daily and apply hair gel on my damp hair to hold the curls and squish, thats how simple it is and i still get the same result and still get compliments on how beautiful my curls are. Also, I prefer to have a little frizz to make it look more natural
Nice to hear someone talking about hair loss. It took me a decade before I went to a dermatologist to figure out what was going on. I now realize that chronic iron and vitamin D deficiency led to me losing almost half of my hair. It’s been a 1.5+ year journey of addressing it, but I’m seeing more growth!
I feel like there is such a stigma around talking about hair loss. I'm glad you are on your journey and I hope you find a solution that works for you and makes you feel beautiful!
I discovered my hair was curly after having a hair-pulling issue. I have plucked out sections due to stress and anxiety, and as some sections have grown back, I've noticed they're super curly, even as some of the hair has gotten to 5-6 inches long lol
I have the exact hair texture as you and appreciate this video. Can you make a video explaining what type of layers you recommend for wavy hair please? You mentioned if you were going to wear your hair curly you would get great layers.
❤❤❤❤❤ thank you for getting straight to the point. Your hair and makeup are super beautiful and not overdone. I love this natural look. Just gorgeous!!!
I have been watching endless wavy girl content. For months now and this is the first video that truly resonated and gave me some hope i can get frizz free results for my fine waves but also not follow the curly girl method to a T. Really cant wait to try this routine. I think the parting is going to be a game changer.
Omg! I wanted to wash my hair today and I always search for some tips and tricks before washing but this video! Omg! I just tried it rn and my hair looks so voluminous and that too without much frizz! Thank you! Lots and lots of love from Germany😍❤️
The first time that I saw your podcast months back I could tell that you had wavy/curly hair, but you were wearing it straight and abusing it with all the heat tools. I love how you are letting your hair curl and it looks so good.
Thank you for this. I feel understood for the first time ever. I've spent my life straightening my hair bc I can't stand my fine, wavy, frizzy hair. I do love the hot tools, but I'm going to try this. I have tried every product under the sun The gel is key. Can't wait to try this out. It's nice to have options. You are a treasure.
Hot dang, I feel like I'm having a revelation here!! As I've gotten older my super fine hair has really started to change. One of my best friends even asked if my hair is curly because there's all this wave action going on. It's really dry too, so I'm going to check out these products and this curly method and see what happens. Awesome video, thank you!!!
Let me know how it goes if you try it! The microwaveable heat cap is super amazing and you can use it with any treatment mask. I also love the curly system in this line (leave in conditioner and gel). You will be so surprised as to how curly your hair actually is after you use the right products and diffuse it this way.
Wow. This is great. My hair "curly" is just like yours. I struggle with frizz and finding my formula to maximize the curl because I bleach and like my hot tools. This was as super helpful.
I literally tried coaching, curl gelling scrunching etc last night in a slapdash experiment for my frizzy thin hair. Woke up with a glorious is will and unstyled mane of volume. I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT.
Yup this is me. Mid 50’s and just realizing I don’t have straight frizzy hair, but wavy! I have almost shoulder length 2A/B waves, fine, medium density. One thing I’m really struggling with is how to refresh day 2 and 3 hair without fully re-wetting and restyling (which takes just as long as styling on wash day). I’ve tried protective styles overnight (scarf, bonnet, half pineapple, Medusa clipping), but everything stretches the waves, it gets flattened and wonky looking. Any suggestions?
I have super thick frizzy hair and it would look exactly like the beginning part of your video if I air dry it. Your tutorial looks super helpful! Gonna try this out!
I just found this video as it was a recommendation and just popped up. My hair is super frizzy and fine but i have a lot of it. When my hair is wet and unbrushed, its very wavy. But if i brush a few times until dry or when dry, its straight (except the ends that wave no matter what and the damaged hair that kinks n curls cuz its shorter with less weight). Ive noticed so much more frizz this summer and nothing seems to tame it. I dont use hot tools very often either. I used to scrunch my hair a lot as a teen but its always been so long that the curls fall to waves unless its crunchy from a lot of product. This made me want to try some moisturizing curly girl products just to see if they help at all.
As I get older/ aging, I have noticed my hair getting wavy. Everything you mentioned in the video, letting my hair air dry, it turns semi frizzy. I live in the south with humid weather and was looking for a specific line that would help. Ty for a well put together video on how to work with developing wavy hair. I think allowing my grey to grow out, the texture changes.
I have tried heaps of these CGMs and always end up with heavy, crunchy or greasy hair that feels like it needs to be washed all over again. I find letting it dry naturally, then setting it with heated rollers (way gentler on hair than straighteners or curling irons) with just a touch of curl cream gives me the best results.
Thank you for this video. I always thought I had straight hair that tangles really easyband always got frizzy. My mom has straight hair, so I just always washed and blow dried my hair with a round brush every day. When I saw your video about if your hair looks like this air dried... I thought that is exactly what my hair looks like. So I tried the scrunched method and I have wavy hair. It is 2a-b but it is definitely wavy. Come to find out my dad had long hair in the 1970s and he said his hair was wavy. I didn't know that because he has always had short hair my whole life. So I'm 37 and I just found out my hair is wavy. I was shocked but also thrilled because I have always wanted curly hair and although mine isn't curly, I can't wait to see what my hair will look like now that I know I have wavy hair. Who knows it might get curlier? Anyway, thanks so much for all your tips and tricks.
Looks great! I was in the hospital for 11 days and started losing hair. I ended up cutting it short. It is so curly and no matter what I do I can’t get the curls to go the way I want. Because of the hair loss, I am afraid to use the drier or products.
I look at ways to try and cope with my wavy hair and they are more work and trouble than simply flatironing it. So I do once a week and for two days I love my hair and don’t feel like a frump.
This is the video I’ve been looking for! I’ve been on my curly/ wavy hair journey for two years now. At that time I decided to grow out my pixie cut. I noticed curls at my ears and lo and behold, as it got longer and there were curls! I am 63 years old! I’ve always had very straight hair but I can look back to my forties and see how the curl pattern was beginning. After I started growing it out I stopped coloring it. I’m really enjoying my wavy/curly hair but it has also been frustrating not finding what works for me. My hair looks good but I know it can look much better. Day two refresh is a real challenge. Your video was spot on! And your hair is sooo much like mine! So…I will try this out and thank you!
I don't have fine hair by any means but definitely have frizzy wavy/curly hair. Just wondering Do you wash your hair everyday ? How about Deep cleanse? Do you sleep on your curls or pin up/ pull back? How about next day hair?
My fine 2C hair looks and feels so much better after I stopped using conditioner. I know, sounds weird. I just wash it, scrunch it and that is it! I use an alll natural balm on my damp hair before it dries and then after it dries for moisture and shine. If you want to save time, brush and scrunch upside down and you are done! The herringbone pattern is a great idea.
Ahh! thx for the put the crown hair up while you brush curl the rest of your hair suggestion..and then do a herringbone design brush on the crown hair last. I think this method will help me immensely! Your hair looks fabulous gurl!🙂
I want to talk about your eyebrows. I’m envious of those arches. ^^ This technique is actually new to me. I thought I seen it all. I’m going to try a brush. I was always afraid of brushes. My hair isn’t that curly and brushes flatten them out.
I must say I was skeptical at first, but I'm sooooo glad I gave it a shot. It truly does work!!! I have very thin hair and I've tried everything to make it look fuller. This was so easy to follow and I'm obsessed with your videos and hair tips. Thanks so much for sharing, I can't believe I never considered my hair to be curly, just one hot mess. Thanks again!
I love Manes by Mell which I found about a month ago. I’m obsessed now to get my hair looking its best instead of washing daily to get rid of frizz. I’ve had a lot of hair falling in the last few months. I appreciate you talking about this and giving possible solutions.
I have naturally curly hair and all I put in is Moroccan oil and diffuse dry it partially then let the rest dry naturally no need for all the other products
If my hair looked like yours after a wash I think I would cry of happiness. My hair is fine, wavy, long, dry, and not layered. Unfortunately any leave in conditioners or thick gel weighs my hair down and the waves lose volume. I'm torn between just accepting my frizzy wavy mess, or just styling it straight, which is much easier and makes me feel pretty. I appreciate all the tips though, and will be trying them out!
I've heard of parting the top of your head like that but I definitely will try next time!! We have similar hair, when it's wet it almost has no curl but I'm definitely a wavy as well. Thanks for the tips!!
Great video. You have really nice texture. 😊 I have really tick and course hair that naturally has kinda curly wavy patern. Hair around my face is more curly, but the rest of it is kinda wavy because it's long and probably has heat damage. Recently I started wearing it as is and I love it. I usually wash it upside down, brush it with wide tooth comb before wrapping it in microfiber towel, after 20-30 minutes I put leave in, than aloe vera gel (I find it helps with mosture and shine) and then I put gel and scrunch. First upside down and when I flip my head up, fix strands around my face ande leave it like that. I can refresh it up to 7 days (I spray it lightly with water and scrunch it a few times) and it looks great until the next wash. At night I just put it in a pineapple with a scrunchie. I found that this routine takes the least amount of time and works great for me.
@@GlamGirlGabi I hope It works for you too. 😊 My hair is oily at the scalp and dry at the ends but this way you cannot really see if it's greasy even on the 7th day. 😁
They hair at my crown is about 6” in length and with my wave/curl pattern it just curls upwards and stands straight(with wave lol) up in the air above my head. I straighten it so that it will lay flat, but it curls right back up in mere minutes and again goes upwards. I feel so done with having wavy/curly hair!
Thank you Gabi. I am a stylist. I always thought keratin can cause a woman’s hair to break off if you use too often. I have finally excepted my fine thin hair. I did go months abs did not dry my hair..my hair is not curly and is not great hair..but omg it did help my hair. Then my hubby got me a La Ange ..think that’s right…hair styling tool. I started drying my hair, styling it and this week I was so sad to see my hair was breaking off. I got it layered. Now I don’t like my hair again. I am going to try and leave it alone again for a while. I love your channel. You always look amazing. ❤❤❤❤
Good job! I will try the hair part because i have the same problem with flat roots. I love Mell too but she has a curly hair And hoover diffuse works perfect. I hoover only at the beginning. If my hair starts to dry it scranch with the diffuse otherwise i loose curls.(try to find a video with Mell And Amanda for styling. Amanda does the same). And when my hair is dry about 50% i use smasters tecnique. I wet my hands And i put a little of creme or gel And apply with praying hands And then continue diffusing. Magic! Product on damp hair makes more curls.
These are great tips! I’ve never tried to do the praying damp hands technique before. That’s so cool. There’s so much information about curls and waves online. It’s overwhelming. I need to play a lot more with it because I always blow by hair out straight. I wear it wavy 1/100 times.
Kind of mind-blown, I always thought I had straight hair then I was complaining about how fluffy and frizzy my hair gets after I wash it to a friend and she told me it was because I don't have straight hair. After watching many CG videos I tried it for the first time tonight and sure enough, I have curls. I tried the bowl method that's trending right now and I have to say I am shocked at how curly my hair actually is. I liked your method, I'm going to try that out next to see what result I get, thanks for sharing.
Finally someone on UA-cam with hair like mine! I have extremely thin fine hair, especially now that I am over 50. And I agree with you about hot tools and color. I just don't want to give them up! But I do limit the hot tools more now. I have 100& grey hair up front and salt and pepper in the back and I do not bleach my hair but color my hair purple (Artic Fox). I also use a beach wave crimper on my crown when my curls do not look good. About 10 years ago my perfectly straight hair decided to start going curly. I still cannot figure out why or what happened. I was straightening my hair daily to but noticed when it was humid I would frizz. Never had that happened in my life. After watching a curly hair video, I stopped straightening my hair about 5 years now, and my limp sort of wavy hair has most definitely gotten curlier and wavier over time. As well as I do have shorter layers at my crown to help keep the hair lighter so it will curl up better. I usually use the defuser in the more traditional way and end up with a little frizz. But I like your idea so much better! I will have to try your method on my next wash day! One thing you did not mention is how long does your drying method take?
I have fine hair with a tendency to frizz in the damp. I have areas with a slight bend and lots of straight areas. I also have greasy roots so have to wash it every day. Loved what you did with yours but I’d rather shave it off than have to do this every day.
Thanks for sharing. I'm about to try the curly girl method. I have super fine hair, and as soon as I sleep on my hair, it flattens. I don't think any kind of head scarf or silk pillow case will save the curl. I just don't have that much hair to save. Do you wear one or do you refresh everyday? I'm also deathly afraid of brushing product into my hair b/c once I brush, the curl is ruined, i.e. hair separate and curls become stragglers vs ringlets, but I'll try the method and see how it all goes. I am most overwhelmed by the kind of products and the order. thanks for now
I can't tell if my hair is wavey as it's so long and thick that I think it just falls. But I'm getting a hair cut this Friday so maybe with shorter hair I'll be able to really test this out 😊
This is exactly how I realized my own hair reality! I thought I was just struggling with dryness and age related hair changes… But it turns out I actually have wavy/curly hair! My first clue was the whole wash day concept… My second clue was people would tell me my hair looked really good when I did absolutely nothing to it… Lol then I did some Ayurvedic hair mask treatments and, oh my God! I had some serious curl clamps and volume and shine like I curled my hair or something! Lol I’ve started treating my hair like it needs to be, and yes I struggled with hair loss and the wrong shampoos and conditioners, combined with going gray and trying to transition from using permanent hair dye to semi permanent glasses so I can gray blend… It’s all been such a crazy journey but treating your hair the way it needs to for its type is really important! Thanks Gabby!😊

I always wondered why my hair looked so fried, rough and bad no matter the haircut 😂 the curly method would take soo much patience, time and buying the diffuser though
I like your honesty about hot tools.. I also use it on some wonky curls and for staying power. Have you tried a Denman brush where you twist the hair around the handle?! It is now my go to styling method with great curl results!
I realized after 34 years that my hair are not frizzy, they are super wavy! I started taking care of them in the right way and they came back to life! Thanks for the video😊
Great video!! I’m inspired to try this!! My hair type sounds so much like yours and years ago I had a perm that was so similar in appearance! I got a ton of compliments back then! Never dreamed I might be able to duplicate with my natural wave!! Thank you!!
I would like to see a video on using a curly or wavy method to maintain a healthy scalp that is not full of rusty crib cap or dandruff and that also protects the lengths. I am very concerned about maintaining the length of my hair since recently switching to modern and harsh soaps and shampoos that not only makes me feel sick but also causes and exacerbates a lot of severe damage and breakage on beautiful hair I’ve worked hard to grow and maintain my whole life and so that it years of growth. I don’t want to cut my hair and I just started to use modern things that are more expensive than what I was doing for my hair before. I was unknowingly straightening my hair before, the India method, by using the coconut and olive oil based and home made hair masks with an inexpensive food based herbal infused method of deep conditioning. It’s a lot less expensive and effective to put good food on my head for a hair mask and make it less time consuming, much easier to grow and much more manageable and far less expensive, lol. But now I’m required to be more expensive and inefficient and so I don’t know what to do, lol! I love the extra wavy curls that modern shampoo manages but I’m not managing the extremely friz zines and especially that fact that it’s easy to tangle and breaks. I need long hair protection, and my hair type is way more frizzy that yours is. Thank you for taking to time to read through this. I need length protection that is very hypoallergenic for fine hair.
My mother never taught me how to take care of it.... she always brushed it and kept it short. When i got out of high school i stopped straightening every day and i have noticed my baby hairs that fall my buns curl like sherily temple and both my sons have curly hair too.
I knew you were hiding some beautiful curls!! I’m impressed that they look this amazing even when you don’t normally style your hair curly. I gave up on having good definition for my fine, curly hair, because it’s so long. But maybe maybe I’ll give it another shot eventually. 🤔
Just this weekend, I decided to stop fighting my hair. I saw my stylist today, cut my hair shorter to get rid of some of the weight (I have fine hair but a lot of it), and had her show me how to style it in its natural wavy state. Then I stumbled across this video this evening. I think I might actually be able to make it look halfway decent on my own tomorrow! So thank you! I don't see a link to the brush you recommend in the video - can you tell me which one it is? And which curling wand you recommend, as well? Thanks so much for this tutorial!
It's actually so true. Everything was catered to straightened hair then. But straightened and straight are two different things lol
That's what I'm saying! Im 50 and wtf?!!! 😮😂
44 and same lol
Our hair is changing due to hormones
How did you not know that though? Lol
@@Redhead-xe6ri which hair colour do you have once you started going grey? Did you gradually go lighter ginger/strawberry blonde/yellow?
Herringbone pattern is amazing. First time trying it this morning and it is night and day with how my hair looks. I have been watching Manes by Mell for a long time, but had a hard time transferring the info into my very fine very thin hair. Thank you for providing this example. I felt beautiful every time I looked in the mirror today.
80's girl here...lol! My hairdresser taught me this scrunching technique to help air dry my 80s perm back in the day.😊 A big dollop of hair mousse, bend over let your hair drop, and start scrunching, and voila! I'm so happy to see it come back in a more natural way.
Best tutorial for fine curly hair … I always had flat hair then curls start at mid length and never knew why
Onion oil is amazing for regrowth.
Vax?
@@BridgettebuttheycallmeB haha
@@SherrylandNC I’m vaccinated if that’s what you’re asking.
I also do not recommend "scrunching out the crunch" trying crushing out the crunch
When you "scrunch" you are taking a curl or wave and pushing it upward, but it has a gel coating, the smaller pieces that are glued down will pop out of place and create frizz.
❤❤❤
I've been neglecting my wavy/ curly hair for a while now and this motivated me to go full out on my routine and define my curls. I've just been brushing it out and wearing a frizzy wavy lions mane (it does look cute though). Thanks sis
Absolutely!
@@angelaharris1112 Could you please link the brush? This was so helpful! Thank you for all the info.
Omg same. This comment made me giggle about the lion mane but it looking good. So cute. Same lol.
I can totally relate. When we do have some time we would want to relax and take a break. This cgm method is tiring
Yes, I agree. Wow!!!
THANK YOU FOR COVERING THIS!!!! I've been confused for like 24 years. And I started wearing my hair curly for the past 3 years. I couldn't be happier.
This is actually an AWESOME idea!!! I should try that for a video and see what happens!!!
Turned 33 a week ago and for the first time in my life there’s a thorough explanation and understanding for my hair type and how to style it best! I’m elated to say the least! You are incredible for this ❤️
This comment made my day!!! Yay! I’m so happy that you found it to be helpful. If
You give this technique a shot, leave me another comment and let me know how it went!
Thank you. I realized my hair was wavy less than a year ago and this is great information for me to implement on my hair journey
I'm 57, for most of my life I've had fine straight hair, but for the last 10 years I've developed waves. Thank you for the much needed information!
Me too 😊
Me too. Same age. Same experience. Going to see what happens with this method.
Well, me too. Except, I'm 58.😉
Gotta love menopause! Not...
Me too from stick straight to wavy after menopause.
OMG YES I GET THE FLAT TOP!!! That was really confusing me. This video was SO helpful and now I understand what im doing wrong
My hair looks like yours when frizzy. When I was younger I had natural pretty waves. Now it’s straight but it’s so bleached. I’ll have to try this.
Love her!
Glad it was helpful. I hope you find some great tips to help you on your journey.
Loved your video no crazy music or unnecessarily information thank you.
Thanks!!!
I have been loosing so much hair because of a thyroid issue and covid!! I ordered these products and hope that they work for me.
I also have trich, it's nice to see representation in the comments section!
Finally…a method that is realistic for me!! I am not that woman who wants to spend all my energy on my dang hair. Thank you!❤
My hair is exactly the same as yours. I need to try the Chevron method. No matter what I try, I can never get the top to lift. Its always super flat.
It's really hard to find a person with the same type curl, even with the same length! This helps me so much thank you!
The herringbone sectioning really makes a difference in adding some root volume for me. I also use clips in certain spots while diffusing.
U R 1st. Curly Girl that has shown ME useful information! I have Fine, Curly hair too!
Your before and even after , is exactly my hair. I never came across a video with someone with my exact hair!!! This is amazing!
That is so amazing!!! You were meant to find the video! I hope you found it helpful :)
Hi @Lisa! Hope you can give our products a try! You won't be disappointed. 😊
So…I will try this out and thank you!
can confirm! I have fine hair and thought it was just frizzy, then I started to use products for curly hair and boom! Hella curly now!
Great tips. My curly hair is fine and thinning. My old tricks no longer work. Gotta try something new.
I really recommend looking into onion juice on the scalp for hair growth… it helped me a lot.
You are giving me freedom to use heat again. So beautiful- thank you!
Same boat 😭 I was looking for this comment
Cut it, you will be much happier!❤
I've heard of parting the top of your head like that but I definitely will try next time!! We have similar hair, when it's wet it almost has no curl but I'm definitely a wavy as well. Thanks for the tips!!
Great video. You have really nice texture. 😊
I have really tick and course hair that naturally has kinda curly wavy patern.
Oooh that’s awesome advice!! I never get two days of wear out of it so I almost never wear it curly. I’m going to try this!
@@GlamGirlGabi I hope It works for you too. 😊
My hair is oily at the scalp and dry at the ends but this way you cannot really see if it's greasy even on the 7th day.
Oh my gosh! My hair is curly and I had no idea 😮 Everything hair wise falling into place…! Thank you so much for this video, very informative!
Interesting. Have I have high density medium texture. My hair is hard to manage because of the density and texture combo. I'll try these tips.
You look so pretty Without makeup, I promise. I think it’s the brow and the brown lines on each side of your nose. Thanks for the video!
Love Manes by Mel! She’s so great!! One thing I will say is I have better curls with soaking wet hair… towel drying definitely adds frizz for me
I use babyliss gas tongs for my frizzy and awkward bits .it makes such a differance
I am most overwhelmed by the kind of products and the order. thanks for now
This is so helpfull, thankyou so much!! Would you please make another video about your routine of your hair in day 2, 3 and 4 after your hair wash day
I can't tell if my hair is wavey as it's so long and thick that I think it just falls.

Thank you!!! I am new to wavy/curt style. And my top as SO flat and disappointing. I am def gonna try your suggestion!
Lol thank you ☺️ I have had frizzy hair all my life , the humidity makes it a nightmare
Thank you!!
I watched your video and immediately look up Mel and am now on my wavey hair journey. Thank you so much.
