This is one of the rare tutorials where she just jumped straight into the point without any bs or nonstop talking about themselves. Very much appreciated, Jannelle. I wish I found your channel sooner.
1. Flip hair over and scrunch out excess moisture. Use fingers to gently lift hair away from the root 2. Use towel or hands to scrunch out moisture at the roots 3. Be light in applying products 4. Last step in applying, lift roots with watered down gel or styling cream 5. Apply root clips to lift roots from scalp 6. Diffuse. Use cold high velocity 7. Reapply clips 8. Fluff. Start with finger tips, and then use other tools if you want 9. Separate curl clumps 10. For those who want more volume at the risk of frizz. Comb downwards by your roots to create frizz underneath your layers
I love it when a video is so direct. I'm so grateful to all who post videos but I really don't need a life story. Thanks for this short one, packed full of the information I need ❤
Margana Maurer isn’t it funny how something that works for one doesn’t always work for another! Curls have a mind of their own! Thank you for the love, I love having you here 💗
There are so many variables from porosity to density to texture that make curly hair a challenge. Then there are the affects of the weather. I mean checking the dew point each day before deciding which products to use? Really? No wonder so many of us throw in the towel. It helps renew interest by watching someone like you who has such a positive outlook. Curly hair as a hobby is not my thing, but that doesn't mean my hair has to be an embarrassment. Thanks for the tips along with your upbeat delivery. It is a pleasure to watch you.
Oh my goodness! I can't wait to try these!!!! I think the first few will really help me because I have a big problem with my hair clumping a whole lot and then laying flat on my head even with diffusing and root clipping. Thank you so much for this!!!💖💖💖
I'm hoping these tips will work on my very short hair that sits in spiral curls at the top of my head - even though they're longish, the top of my head looks flat! I get so frustrated that I end up blowing my hair wavey straight. Your did a great presentation. Thanks!
Best curly hair tip I've been told (for my daughter not me my hair is straight) do a final rinse of her hair after conditioner with cold water to close the cutical. Really helped with frizz
Hi, just found you and I like how clearly you demonstrate everything, makes it much clearer. Just wondering about TiP # 8 (I think it is) with the comb options, it looks as thought you are slightly teasing your hair here, which is what you are doing in TIP #10 too - am I right? Your curls seem so uniformly curly; I think I must be more of a wavy. Anyway, really appreciate your detailed showing of things :)
I have watched your videos all morning (thank you, mush needed) … and this length of hair on your is my FAVE! Your curls look soooo healthy and bouncy! Thumbs up to my new adventure - GO WAVIES!!!!!
@@JannelleOShaughnessy I was wondering if that's the one you were talking about. I've been using Kinky Curly and their Curly Custard for more years than I can count. It really is the product that does so much for my curly definition & shine. Everyone asks me about what I use (plus I use Alaffia's Beautiful Curls Leave-In Conditioner before using the KC Curling Custard) and they always comment on how much they love the way my hair smells.
This is great and I'll definitely be trying it! Anything in particular I should keep in mind when I have thin hair and about... a third to a half of the amount you have?
Excellent info! I find all your videos so very helpful! Just curious,is that an elephant shower curtain? Do u happen to remember where you purchased it?
I’m at that stage where I’m ready to give up-I wish I could make my curls look pretty. Lately they just look awful, okay they mostly always have. Wondering if some people just don’t have pretty curls.
Are those greys I see? Beautiful! Dig using clips for volume. I use claw clips all over the crown (about 8) and leave in for diffusing too. Then remove and fluff. Thanks for the tip on separating curl clumps. Never though of that
Your hair color is beautiful!! Do NOT get into the horrible loop of dying your hair to cover grays. It’ll be on your monthly to-do list for the rest of your life! Ugh
Kim kim-azevedo oh I don’t! I started getting greys at 18. Colored them for a while but started letting them grow in and stopped coloring completely over a year ago!
Ok found this one, I’m going to add tip 4, adding some product to my roots. I’m wondering if I apply the clips when my hair it too dry? I usually defuse a bit before adding the clips...?
Love these videos, Jannelle!!!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and for trying all these things out so the rest of us don't have to reinvent the wheel, so to speak. You're awesome! @imalark
Yaay ! Am new to CG routines and am currently transitioning...I have been struggling with volume and this video is such a blessing. Gonna try them out this week :) thanks a bunch @jannelleoshaughnessy @praveena85
Hey! I used to have very curly hair but years of flat ironing, well ya know. I can get beautiful clumps all around my face, but no matter what I do, the back still just makes it wavy looking. I use the product, the Denman brush and follow your routine, but no curls. I got layers put in yesterday and thought that would help. It didn't. What do I do!? My hair is about your length. HELP!!
Oh my Lord!! That is so much work and time consuming. Is there a hair routine that will take 5 minutes or less. My hair is similar to your. Love to watch your unbelievable hair style routine how ever is not doable for me.
Jovita Castillo regardless of how little time it takes you to apply products, curly hair still takes quite a long time to dry. Of course this all depends on you hair porosity, length, etc. and so far I haven’t seen anymore do their hair care routine in 5 minutes or less
i saw on another video from a popular curly hair influencer that she teases a little on the ends of her hair and goes up towards the middle a bit. Not a lot...just a little and it made a difference.
I noticed that you also kind of pulled the back of your hair forward. Wouldn’t that make the back look flatter? Maybe it was just for the sake of showing your steps and not meant to be the way you style it?? I’m sure it’s really hard to show the back of your hair in a video. 😆 It’s kind of like the trend I see where a lot of those with long hair sort of part it at the back and pull it all forward over their shoulders. Does that make sense? Of course your hair will look full and thick...it’s all up front! 🤣 I’m in love with your hair and your zero frizz!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love when people just jump into the video

that root trick to apply some custard really does the trick for you, it's a significant difference.
Angel RoMa so agree! Dawned on me one day and so glad it did! Thank you 💗
Beautiful curly hair 😍
My curls would be total frizz with some of your tips, but you are so much fun to watch I did it twice!

Omg I wish I had your hair it’s beautiful
Love the root ratting! Gives crazy volume like I’ve never had!
"Separate curl clumps"
Oh, I'm not brave enough for that
True😣
We have very similar hair! So glad I found your channel!
That flip you did when you were flipping was epic 😂 Just cut my curls super short. Thanks for the tips!
Tamara Pereira totally:)
Best curly hair tip I've been told (for my daughter not me my hair is straight) do a final rinse of her hair after conditioner with cold water to close the cutical. Really helped with frizz
Thank you so much ! This really helped me as I've been looking everywheeeeere for a YT vid that explains it and you do it perfectly!
How do you flip your wet hair without your curls breaking apart? Whenever I flip my hair while it’s wet, I lose all my definition.
LassHaley I am thinking it is not soaking wet
You made me love my fine short hair
that couldn't make me happier for you!
Thank you, I didn't know the fourth and the last one ! Your hair is really beautiful.
I really like this tutorial, simple and to the point, thank you.
I am a dude but I still needed this, my hair is really long and messy, thanks.
Root clips-- will try that. Nearly cut layers into my hair because the back is so heavy
I thought I had it muted at some point from all the dead air during trick #9 🤣
All exact tips wow she is talented
Best beginning of video EVER. I love you.

Hi Maureen! So glad to have you here! Yes, I was ratting a teeny bit towards the end, it happens without me noticing it at times 😂
I have watched your videos all morning (thank you, mush needed) … and this length of hair on your is my FAVE! Your curls look soooo healthy and bouncy! Thumbs up to my new adventure - GO WAVIES!!!!!
Oh man - this was on my son's account - but all info still applies!!! Hugs from Kole's Mom :)
Your curls are crazy shiny! 😍
You have a lot of beautiful thick hair. My hair is very fine and short and I lack volume for sure. Maybe these tips will help.
Where can I find one of those "fluffers"?? That tool looks amazing!
I've seen them again the dollar store called like a spa comb!
Beautiful hair and thanks for the tips!
I LOVE your short ringlets!! Ahh!! You’re so brave omg I cant do half of these without freaking out lol

Great tips. I love your shower curtain, where did you purchase it from?
the best video I have seen, thanks!
What styling products did you use here ? Your hair looks gorgeous!
I believe I used the Kinky Curly Curling Custard

I love the hair clumps. I wish there was an "all in one" product that it all.
This is great and I'll definitely be trying it! Anything in particular I should keep in mind when I have thin hair and about... a third to a half of the amount you have?
Your hair is gorgeous and you are lovely ☺️
Excellent info! I find all your videos so very helpful! Just curious,is that an elephant shower curtain? Do u happen to remember where you purchased it?
I found it yearssss ago on amazon! Was one of my husband and my first home purchases together haha!
Love the haircut!

So many grays! they have been growing in like weeds the last year, even more so since this video!

have you noticed more buildup from putting your gel onto your roots?
That last tip is so me!!

Where did you get your scalp massager?
I would like to know too! Please tell us where you got the scalp massager.
@@ssnowak0714 I saw one on someone else's IG video months ago. I went to Amazon and tracked them down.
I got my on Amazon it was also on aliexpress if someone likes to wait. I'm not that patient lol 😆

I would end up with SO much frizz if I fluffed as vigorously as you.. oh well, we all have our own CG journey
looks good
Thank you so much Steffi!
Diffusing high speed is okay?! I thought it had to be low and slow?

I need help with volume at the ends of hair, the healthier my hair gets the more it curls so it sits in tighter together
i saw on another video from a popular curly hair influencer that she teases a little on the ends of her hair and goes up towards the middle a bit. Not a lot...just a little and it made a difference.
what products do you use ??
@jennybear891
Love your videos!! They've been super helpful, but now all I need is the products to help me achieve your gorgeous curls
