Had a Santos for a while. Recently added a Tank Must XL. Said to myself: "Okay. I've completed my Cartier journey. I have everything I'll ever want." Then my wife and I were in NYC and we stopped in the Carter store on Fifth Avenue. I saw the Ballon Bleu 40mm in rose gold in real life for the first time and realized that Abraham Maslow was wrong. There is a need hierarchy above self-actualization, and it is Ballon Bleu 40mm in rose gold.

Yes - I have seen one it is breathtakingly sophisticated and powerful on the wrist - well done. Love this video. Cartier de Santos medium is definitely fire. Love my Blue Tank Must as well. Unfortunately my Dumont is gone. I just don't really wear two-tone. Great video, Brittany, thank you. Not a Cartier fan. Still... that Tank de Must XL calls me. I tell it to shut up! I can't afford you right now! And yet... There I am, looking at it on line stores. Good thing the closest AD is an hour and fifteen away, and a crappy drive at that.
We are all entitled to our own opinions Britt, but of course mine are correct, if it's my money it's my choice as I will be the loon who's going to wear it. Anyway I don't have a Cartier so I'm not that bothered about the rankings. If I could justify a Cartier it would be one of the Tanks. The Santos is also tempting. For now I can happily admire these watches from afar.
Great video. The watch community needs more insight into watch collecting rather than the standard review of watches. Also not enough content for women out there. Thanks Britt!
You know, I was just thinking today I've been doing too many of these more watch collecting videos rather than reviews! ;) I am DYING to do a review! haha! I just can't get my hands on enough watches! ^_^
hi gc, it is kevin, your neighbor in n.y. i just took my 19 yr. old tag link in for a complete refinish. it will be gone for 4 months, so i am going to buy the hamilton khaki automatic. so much for so little !!! someday i will own a datejust and a santos 100. till then i will continue to love you, and your channel. cheers to you and papi.
You know! I am DYING to get hands on with a hammy!! You nailed it! Sooo much for so little. I can’t even wrap my head around the price of the khaki automatic! This comment has absolutely made my day! Thank you so much! 💕✨
@@BrittPearceWatches i just love how you refer to the khaki field as HAMMY. must be a canada term. just kidding. pls. continue to be the best, along with jenni. most of the men on you tube are quite full of themselves.
I’m having big problems with guys that think all good watches are to small. My dad had gignormus wrists 22 cm and a 27*27 mm Certina! I really don’t have any problem with small watches!
Hello Britt, Today, I took again a look at the AD after watching almost all your videos about Cartier. It’s even most difficult to decide now! I am a man with a medium wrist size and I probably will start with the Tank Must Large and then we will see if one day I can afford one between the Santos Dumont Large and the Santos Medium. Congratulations for your channel, you are funny and not pretentious at all.
I know the Cartier Crash wasn’t mentioned but maybe that’s because it’s in a league of its own, I would place it in the straight fire 🔥category for sure!
Ballon bleu has to be at minimum heart eyes. I was torn for ages between the ballon bleu and santos - the santos scratches sooo bad and looks weathered. The ballon bleu is so classy!
Whaaaat! This is much too kind and it has made my day! 🙈✨ I’m so glad there was sometjing to learn in here! Hahaha as for graphics… we are trying out different things here at gringa tube! 😂
I think this list is perfectly spot on minus the Tank Française because I think that thing is just bad ass and I'm only into sport/tool watches. After that, I love the Santos 100 DLC/Titanium Chrono, the Tortue Monopusher, Pascha Chrono and the Ronde being that it's kind of an elegant field watch especially with the 24h inner dial. Still, it's a great list to set your sights on goal-wise and organise your prospective collection
I’m not much of a tank guy, but I appreciate their lineage and there’s a lot of nuance within their design language. It’s kind of humorous to hear you describe one of their watches as have a rather sporty feature - a seconds hand. When it comes to tank cases, I must admit, the Reverso variants hold my attention a bit longer, they seem less precious.
I know it's not sold anymore but just wanted to let you know about Cle de Cartier - the one in my profile pic! I guess it can be seen as the sportier looking version of the Tortue, with unfortunately 30m of WR.
Great, informative, and entertaining video! I would love a follow up video / short of your thoughts on the Baignoire. Some are saying it will become the new It Girl watch
There is a Tank for every day of the week and then some. I only have a Louis, an Americaine, a Divan, a MC and a Must Solar but I would like to add a Francais. Not keen on the Anglais but then you have the Basculante which is very nice and saw a massive price jump about a year ago for the large manual wind. Then there are ones like the Obus and the CPCP models which are gorgeous. Oh and the Solo! So many Tanks, so little money!
The habit of Cartier discontinuing models without really announcing it strikes again. My first Cartier is a Tank Anglaise I bought used in early 2021 and I only learned it was a discontinued model when I was at a Cartier boutique to buy my blue dialed Santos. I felt similar pangs of sadness when I learned the Drive was discontinued as it was one of the designs that really jumped out at me and made me take a good look at the brand's lineup. Obviously I went with different watches as the Drive didn't quite fit what I wanted (it seemed to have the same identity crisis as the Ronde) but it still stung. It's nice to see some of the less popular aka round models getting recognition. I didn't know what to make of the Pasha when I first saw it but it's a design that's grown on me over time as I see more of how it plays with shapes despite still being a circular case.
Hey, love the videos and thank you for the entertainment. I'm currently considering the Tank Must Solarbeat or the Santos Dumont Large. Can I get your opinion on both pieces since technically you have both?
OH BOOOSH! This is a very hard choice! And you know, before I was "into" watches, the only 2 watches I really liked was the Santos and the Tank. I ended up getting teh Tank first (and loving it) and then getting the Santos later (but now I wear the Santos waaaay more than I wear the Tank!) ;) Have you tried both on?! Both are fantastic watches! But man, my heart is with the Santos I think! As much as I blimmin love the Tank. My only worry with the solar beat is servicing. I am sure the servicing is crazy expensive on it. But don't quote me on that. ;) I might be getting mixed up.
@Britt Pearce Heyyy, thanks for sharing! Appreciate it loads. I'm definitely in the same boat as you were previously. I really wanted the Tank and tired it on and love it. However at the AD, I also saw the Dumont in L and in all cheekyness, gave it a try and well, my love for that was newfound and equal and ever since, it became a hard decision between both. I was considering between the Solarbeat and the regular Quartz. No issue on either tbh. So the "servicing" aspect isn't really a deal breaker. Just that right now, I can't decide between either. Gosh, having a watch hobby is really getting me down a rabbit hole.🥹
In a time before I really knew about watches my [what I would now call a] grail watch was a Cartier Balon Bleu Chronograph. I thought if I had that, I could never want for another. They discontinued it, but during lockdowns I saw it second hand in an AD. I went to try it on and was just underwhelmed with it on the wrist. 😔 Never meet your heroes!
Brit - just curious whether you've done any law trainings or education? As a lawyer one would expect a (law) muggle to say 'legally binding' but not 'legally speaking'! I used to underestimate Cartier as a watch until I saw a Santos medium (or maybe large) on a colleague's wrist. Now I'm on the wagon!
The only thing holding me back from getting a Santos is that the clasps aren't to my taste design-wise or aesthetically. I'd rather go for the Santos Dumont personally. I just feel like Cartier watches belong on a leather strap rather than a metal bracelet (though the Santos bracelet itself is an engineering marvel). Your preference may vary.
I have a Cartier de santos on a navy blue croc strap with a deployment clasp. The watch is sophisticated and super comfortable . The curved case hugs the wrist like an old friend.
Great video for a Sunday evening, thanks Britt 👌🏻 May I ask the ref no of the Tank @3:46? looks dope, couldn't find it in Cartier page... edit: found it. It's from Collection Privée Cartier Paris, full guilloche dial, flower rosette at center seconds, platinum case, Cartier Paris text on dial with a full exhibit caseback and rectangular caliber. LE to 50pcs.. Pure Class
Had to laugh at the manliness comment. I love my small Cartier Tank Solarbeat on my 17cm wrist. So small, super legible, and disappears on the wrist. What's not to love. My dad did make a comment about it looking like a ladies' watch. So, of course, he needed a history lesson on the Tank.
is there anything more fun than giving a history lesson on a watch?! hahaha! I do the same all the time too! My husband is in the military, so I love when someone comments on my tank because then I get to talk watches AND military and try to convert some of these navy guys into the Cartier life! ;)
@Britt Pearce I love nerding out on a watch's history/lineage and technology. Think my wife is sick of hearing about it 🤣. But those elements and a small part of a watch's look is what draws me to a watch. Pretty much why I have the collection I do.
Great you are talking about Cartier 😊 I’m a fan of the classic versions that are quite small - for example the Santos Carrée or Galbée. On my list is the Tank Must large model now though. It’s just really an icon. Yes, the Tank Louis would be ideal, but then it’s £11k.
I just ordered two new Cartier: a yellow gold Tortue from the CPCP line and a yellow gold Santos Dumont Ultra Thin from 1995. I’m super excited to see them next week!
You forgot to mention my favorite Cartier tank.. the MC. I think the proportions are perfect on the MC for my wrist. Would absolutely love to have the blue dial. Second favorite would be the Santos with the blue dial.
Took me a year to come over this..and alot of therapy. You placed the Ballon Blue next to the Panthere and you said that the Panthere wasn't even a real watch. WHY GOD WHY !!! and then to top it off, you place the entery level watch Ronde almost next to it also. WHY GOD WHY !!! The Ballon Blue is the number one dress watch.. it has style, it has quality, it has everything . WHY GOD WHY !!!. Great video btw 😁 PS : i have the rose gold 40 mm Ballon Blue and the mechanical Santos Dumont .. i just love the watches. I agree with ya, to top the collection off.. that it really needs the Cartier Santos. Still need to get that one.
I completely agree with your rankings - you have great taste. I am biased, but I also love the Cartier Tortue in all styles! I have the vintage Cartier Tortue Dauphine ladies version and just love how classic and understated it is.
Britt,…thanks much for sharing your thoughts and insights. Really enjoyed this video. After wearing the same watch for 29 years (?) I acquired a Santos de Cartier Large Grey and a Cartier Tank Must XL with a leather strap. The Santos is so versatile. I am digging the fact that the Tank Must XL is automatic and has the date and second hand. Cartier is class.
Beautiful list. It looks like you spent thousands of dollars on a computer to render the high-quality list (I quite like the hand-drawn list, actually). What are your thoughts on the Maillon de Cartier? Also, it is sad to hear that the Tortue has been discontinued. I think the Clé de Cartier and the Drive de Cartier have also been discontinued (I wonder how you feel about those watches too). I think Cartier is an interesting watch brand with a unique style that I very much enjoy.
The panthere is the most beautiful elegant and comfortable watch for women from Cartier

What about the Cloche de Cartier?
Sunday is Gringa-day. My weekend is complete
Oh BLESS! It’s the magical time of the week! 🙈✨
hi gc, it is kevin, your neighbor in n.y. i just took my 19 yr. old tag link in for a complete refinish. it will be gone for 4 months, so i am going to buy the hamilton khaki automatic. so much for so little !!! someday i will own a datejust and a santos 100. till then i will continue to love you, and your channel. cheers to you and papi.
Hello Britt,
Today, I took again a look at the AD after watching almost all your videos about Cartier.
Any chance you know the reference # of the watch at 3:46?
Where's the tank asymetrique?
I MISSED SO MANY! 😢
Ballon bleu has to be at minimum heart eyes. I was torn for ages between the ballon bleu and santos - the santos scratches sooo bad and looks weathered. The ballon bleu is so classy!
Gringa, I am looking for a good watch roll. Still happy with your TYT? Would you recommend? Thanks!!
Today, I learned more about Cartier than I thought I would ever learn. Awesome graphics for your ranking table. 😁
Thought your fire emoji was Wilson from the Tom Hanks film 😂
😂😂 ong!!! That is so much more accurate than the fire! Hahaha
Great, informative, and entertaining video! I would love a follow up video / short of your thoughts on the Baignoire. Some are saying it will become the new It Girl watch
I totally believe it could be the next it girl watch!!! 😱💕💕💕 it’s so pretty!
Hard to not like Cartier watches. I hope Cartier comes out with a Worldtimer or GMT watch. Also release a new version of the Cartier Calibre.
The floating magnum at the end 😂
😂😂 only the real ones who make it to the end know!
I ended up getting teh Tank first (and loving it) and then getting the Santos later (but now I wear the Santos waaaay more than I wear the Tank!) ;)
Have you tried both on?!
Never meet your heroes!
You know, this is why it is so important to try a watch on first!
@@BrittPearceWatches Yep, had exactly the same experience with the Zenith Defy 21
No Drive!? No Rotonde!? No Calibre!? No Crash!? No this, no that?
Haha! WELL! I was ranking current catalogue! 😜 which excludes almost everything listed here! But ronde was ranked at the end! 😜💕✨
Hi - How about the Drive and Calibre Diver from Cartier? Both discontinued, I know..
I didn't expect to enjoy this video because I'm not a Cartier fan. I was wrong! Your delivery is awesome, thanks for the great video!
Pure Class
Gah! I was going to say! These ones are actually insanely rare! Beautiful watches. A grail of mine! 😍💕💕💕
Oh, girl! I will FIGHT you! How dare you not grant more respect to the Francaise? Ditto for the Ballon.
The Santos is, of course, the only grail.
Yoh... you forgot the Drive, which is just so spectacular.
Bahaha ohhh NOOO! You know, I am feeling absolute REGRET FOR MY PLACING OF THE FRANCAISE!!! Let me redeeeem this!
@@BrittPearceWatches Love you so much!
Wow, Britt the soothsayer!
I’m watching this in June ‘24 way after the Tortue Mono pusher has been unveiled at Watches and Wonders.
Great work 🧐
I pretty much agree with your ranking (except for the Panthère, I would put it higher, it's so lovely...). But you forgot the Baignoire !!
my poor Americane. I still think the time only Americane are way better on the wrist - the pre CPCP. The cintree is unwearable on my wrist 😂
Great video! I’m buying my first “nice” watch and love cartier. I’m torn between the tank must (classic white dial) or a vintage Santos Galbée🫠😂
Great video btw 😁
PS : i have the rose gold 40 mm Ballon Blue and the mechanical Santos Dumont .. i just love the watches. I agree with ya, to top the collection off.. that it really needs the Cartier Santos. Still need to get that one.
No one minds a quick rank on the weekend.........
I completely agree with your rankings - you have great taste. I am biased, but I also love the Cartier Tortue in all styles! I have the vintage Cartier Tortue Dauphine ladies version and just love how classic and understated it is.
This ranking scale is way better than those digital ones 😂 much more fun
😂😂🙈 I was just trying something new! I’m glad you enjoyed! ✨✨
not for everyone but the Seatimer is one of my all time fave Cartiers.
Thank you Britt for you light hearted perspective on the hobby. I’ve had along day and this brought me some joy before calling it a night!
9:10 oooh shots fired at Tim Write 🤣
Hahaha never would I ever!
Cool homemade emojis. Cartier would be so proud. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣⌚️
😂🙈🙈
What about the Cienture? Where does that fit?
Is it possible to change the bracelet on the French tank?
Beautiful list. It looks like you spent thousands of dollars on a computer to render the high-quality list (I quite like the hand-drawn list, actually). What are your thoughts on the Maillon de Cartier? Also, it is sad to hear that the Tortue has been discontinued. I think the Clé de Cartier and the Drive de Cartier have also been discontinued (I wonder how you feel about those watches too). I think Cartier is an interesting watch brand with a unique style that I very much enjoy.
Complication is overrated. If it’s beautiful and tells the time = 👍❤️
