That questioned was designed to allow Brandon to give a great answer. Like "Why are you so cool?"
That honestly feels like some really bad question to bait out a quote from Brandon that the media could exploit
Because that is the very question that needs to be asked. The narrative about these weapons is that the mere possession of one makes a person go off the deep end and start shooting up places. The narrative takes all responsibility from the person and places it on the object, therefore the attempt to ban them. That answer needs to be on the record to refute that stupid narrative, and Brandon addressed it perfectly.
I think that question was a setup, to give him the answer he did. "Why did you not run over people on your way here?" It is the people, not the tools.
Later that evening, the same representative asked, and I'm not joking, "With so many guns, we should be the safest country on earth. How many more guns do we need until mass shootings stop?"
It's like asking, "How many more shots of Narcan until the opioid epidemic is fixed?" Absolutely ridiculous questions designed to bait people into saying something dumb that the news can replay.

@@zombieexpressiv1017 there was a strange case here a while back where a property owner defended themselves with a samurai sword. Being as I live in a Constitutional carry state archaic weapons are pretty rare here. But the courts were cool with the sword defence. The intruder had a lengthy police record. It was so bizarre I followed that case with some interest. Initially no one knew what to make of all of it. Being as the situation seemed so barbaric. If he'd just shot the guy it would have been more open and shut. But no he had to break out the samurai sword.

@@AirAssault7 it was very surprising. We're a Constitutional carry state so pretty much anyone that wants a firearm has one. Although oddly throwing stars are strangely illegal here. Why? I've no good idea. You can walk around with a gun but don't let us catch you with any of those freaky far eastern weapons. That's apparently where we draw the line. Although samurai swords are OK. We can't have fireworks either. So New Years sounds like a shooting range. The 4th of July people just use fireworks anyways. Because Murica.

Illinois passed an extremely similar bill. They gave us a deadline of 1/1/24 to register these guns. Less than 1% of gun owners in illinois registered. And very few counties in illinois are enforcing the ban.

Much appreciation here from Germany! We pretty much are fighting the same struggle here in Europe in almost each country. And many politicians here are celebrating the firearms ban in the UK and try to enforce this in many other countries in the EU. But none EU country has gun ownership written in any constitution, it's a privilege here and not a basic civilian right. And year after year we are more and more restricted. But slowly -at least here in Germany- we are uniting forces ... gun associations, clubs, and many more. And sometimes we even stand our ground in the courtrooms. If we do not fight for our rights than 10yrs from now we'll all be standing with nerf guns on the ranges ...

I’m a Coloradan native and former marine infantryman. Thank you. Truly from the bottom of my heart. I couldn’t make it down to show my discontent because of the nature of the economy and feeding 3 kids but thank you for showing up. The unlawful attempt at taking human rights is egregious and I pray it doesn’t pass. It won’t affect any criminal, only targets law abiding citizens. All but 1 gun in my safe would be illegal with this bill. Basically disarms me entirely. Non compliance will be the standard with this but is sure as hell not “safe” if you ever get caught. When citizens become targets, as is the case here, the government no longer serves the people.

I am a college student that actually signed up to testify against this bill, one of the stats that really bring into view how many people where against this bill was that there where 12 hours of testimony for this committee. Sadly didn’t get to testify due to having to attend class but I can attest that it went on for at least 10 hours. Super proud of our 2A community in Colorado.

I'm Canadian, assault weapons are already banned here. Fight for the freedom you Americans still have, lest you end up like Canada where the maximum magazine size is 10 and any weapon arbitrarily considered to be "military-style" (over a thousand) are completely illegal.

It's a bad situation in Canada, but it's not quite hopeless yet. The backlash to C-21 was pretty awesome, and showed the country is not completely whipped yet. Sucks that even the nerfed version got through, but at this point I'm thankful there was any changes at all to it.
And don't tell Trudeau, but non-restricted semi-auto rifles are still available and will be indefinitely until Turdeau gets a clue that C-21's wording of "designed AND manufactured" (the language of the bill) after X date is not the same thing as "designed OR manufactured" (what they probably meant to do) after X date.

I am so sorry that I was unable to donate to your campaign but I was busy having c-spine reconstruction. I now have an erector set for a c- spine. Bitching MRI though. 18 screws plus all the support brackets. Was an emergency surgery so I wasn’t financially prepared for it.

As a Canadian who believes in firearms rights, I truly hope that my country claws back what we had and can be less... insane, in regulation. Thank you for your effort across the border. It sends a good message
I think a huge problem we have is that a lot of gun owners in Canada are either apathetic or have a "got mine" attitude. For example, when the handgun transfer ban was announced, many people (myself included) went out and bought the handguns they really wanted and could afford. And that's where it ends for a lot of Canadian gun owners. They got theirs, and now they're banned, so big whoop. We need to really advocate for ourselves because nobody else will.
I cannot imagine a situation where that will ever happen, short some horrific disaster scenarios like getting invaded by the US, and even then they probably wouldn't allow their Canadian colonies access to firearms in case we try to take our country back.

We do have different security environment, but as a hobby it sucks a lot.
I did the same thing for New Mexico’s ‘GOSAFE’ bill banning gas operated firearms among many other things. Love seeing people stand up for their constitutionally given rights.

I’ve watched for the past couple of decades as this state has eroded from within because of “our” elected officials. Homelessness and crime are at an all time high and now they want to disarm us. What's even worse is that Tim Hernandez, one of the prime sponsors of the Assault Weapons Ban wasn't even elected. The little shit was appointed due to a vacancy.

I live in Northern Colorado. This bill has been rejected by nearly ever Sherriff and Police Association outside of Denver and Boulder County. It is a horrible bill and I pray it doesn't pass.

I'm glad you were there that day. I just turned 21 on the 19th and was quite worried about my rights as a citizen of not just Colorado but as an American. This state is beautiful but full of people who just dont understand or dont care about the inalienable rights we as citizens under the constitution. Hey Brandon Herrera, I am not sure you will ever see this, but I have fired some of my first shots at a range the other day. I just want to thank you for teaching me about guns and proper gun safety through UA-cam. Keep rocking on man.
I hope you had a good experience! My first time firing a weapon was in my Dad's back yard, with him, my Aunt's boyfriend, and a couple cousins. I had learned firearm safety from my JROTC class, being part of a competition shooting team

Cadets in the program had the opportunity to work at the Aztec Ruins National Monument, as an official working job. Started at $10/hr, up to I think $15? This was also back in 2013, when minimum wage was still $7.50, so a HUGE difference between what many high school students applied for
EDIT: that in particular is something I feel very happy in being able to say. As far as I'm aware, no other State JROTC program did that across the US
