@MarkG11400 He's got the death stare, a strange intensity in the eyes. I've seen it many times in people approaching very close to the end. Like he's already half looking through the veil of this world into the other side.
RIP Paul. Thank you GT for having the foresight to do this interview with him. This is my first time seeing it and it's doing a lot to help me process his passing and to learn some more about him.
As long as he simply believed in Jesus Christ, with all his heart, he is in heaven right now. So if that's the case Mr Paul. Run! Fly! Enjoy being a child again brother. Don't rest In peace! Fly 🕊️!
Paul is a freaking gem. He’s essentially America’s gun dad. Some may give that honor to Hickok45, but Paul Harrell has always had the best information, sprinkled in with just the right amount of wisdom and dry dad humor. We love you Paul.
Why do I love Paul Harrell? Because he's so damn genuine. He doesn't play a character or do bits, he's just Paul. You can see it at the beginning of the interview. He's the EXACT same person off camera as he is on camera. That's rare to come by these days. What a legend.
Paul is literally a Genius! Explaining how "different people have different experiences and therefore form different opinions". That should be taught in schools 💯
Good point. It's just really a blessing to have a channel that's fun to watch, you can learn a lot and the guy's not a narcissistic ass. A lot of people in the gun world are that guy. Most youtubers aren't so much at least not the successful ones but some are just trying hard to hide it. Like you said Paul is genuine. What you see is what you get.
Paul, if you're reading this, your impact is far more positive and immense than you could ever hope to know. Just accept it; you're a legend in the gun community now and forever.
I grew up in California believing guns were scary and evil. Three years ago I started dating someone who enjoys shooting, and made me watch Paul Harrell's videos with him to understand gun basics and how to shoot. Watching Paul Harrell got me into guns, shooting, and I went from fearing guns to owning 6 of my own, including a Beretta 92. I met Paul Harrell at a gun show at Yard Birds in Chehalis, and without even a pause he handed me a gun and said "this one is for you". I will never forget that. I have a shot thru Queen of Diamonds playing card with his signature framed on my fridge, from that day. Paul might not make the most humorous videos like Mr Thumb and Co, but his videos are incredibly knowledgeable, impactful, and educational, and I will continue to watch them as I continue to learn too.
Disarmament on an evolutionary scale doesn't work - predators like Russia's Putin have shown us that they will attack as soon as they feel our weakness.
That's awesome to hear. I always hoped videos like Paul's could change people's views of firearms and firearm ownership but you never really hear anyone talk about it.
@@isaaccutlip5815 I said a tear just because of how passionate he was to legitimately help people, do what he did and just because he seemed like such a nice genuine person. It sucks losing a good person from this Earth because we need more to keep fighting the good fight against the ones trying to tear us apart
I was trained by Paul Harrell at the Marine Corps Security Forces school, back in the summer of 1994. Great instructor! I found his channel several years ago and loved having his instruction again. Semper Fi brother!
Paul's breakdown of the 1986 Miami shootout is the best that I've ever seen. I still watch that every once in a while and learn something new every time. He is a legend in the community and his no nonsense, straight to the point approach always kept me watching. I hope a lot of people learned not just a lot about firearms from him but video presentation as well. He's old school, but that presentation style is a lost art that he brought back with style. Godspeed, Paul. We can only hope and strive to live up to your standards and make you proud.
It's been years since I watched that video, but I remember (and often repeat to myself) to paraphrase, "The casualties did not result from a failure of firepower. It was a failure in marksmanship."
That's one of my favorite PH videos. For a weird reason, I also love his M1 Carbine and PCC comp videos, it made me want to get a Marlin Camp Carbine so bad 😂
Paul may not realize it, but he is highly regarded in the 2A community, and across the world. I can't tell you how many comments I've read from people outside the USA thanking Paul for being their only source of firearms information. Paul has an army of supporters, not just in the US. Paul has been a positive influence on countless people, and deserves all the support and respect he has. God bless Paul Harrell.
He just passed and his family uploaded the update/news to his channel.. His brother Roy has been doing a great job.. RIP to the Legend, coach, instructor, mentor and gun enthusiast including safety.. Thank you!
@@isaaccutlip5815 Just learned of Paul today, courtesy of Hickock45. I'm listening to Elvis - Elvis In Memphis, I as well am emotional this evening. I learned an old acquaintance of mine had passed away in 2019 after getting hit by a car while crossing the street. She was 88 at the time. Used to enjoy her company, our conversations, her cooking. I am impressed how Paul carries himself, the humility, sense for humor. How he emphasizes how it is important we take our rights deadly seriously, being a proper ambassador, as he says, for the 2nd Amendment. RIP Mr. Harrell and Anna Marie.
What a great, humble man. That's why people love Paul. He isn't trying to be cool or popular, he's just a regular guy who wants to share his expertise. In this modern world of hype and self promotion, this man will be sorely missed.
i'm surprised that Paul Harrell hadn't done a team-up video with the legendary Clint Smith of "Thunder Ranch", since he too is a firearms expert as well as being a retired Vietnam Veteran and former Police Officer. but yeah man, having cancer sucks the big one, as my late-father was diagnosed with C.L.L and sadly passed away back in 2006.
@@DrQuagmire1 Their personalities would probably clash. Clint is a gruff, opinionated, grumpy old man. He excuses his abrasiveness under a guise of "being blunt". Not trying to downplay his expertise or skill, but I'd shop around for other classes long before considering Thunder Ranch.
@FuzedBox there personalities and styles clashing is exactly what could have made an entertaining video. As long as they understand that from the beginning and can take advantage of it. That's exactly why I've always wanted to see a paul harrel and kentucky ballistics video. Paul is very dry and Kentucky ballistics is very animated. That mix if done tactfully would be fantastic.
My dad was a huge fan of Paul's. Every time he'd upload a video, my dad would let me know about it. I lost my dad back in August of 22. I just want to thank Paul for giving me something to bond with my dad over.
I remember being in Detroit, MI during COVID and wanting to get my CCW license. The class was mostly black with a black former Marine instructor, but along with myself and a father and son we were the only white guys in the room. Nevertheless, the instructor plays one of Paul's early videos on handgun safety. I smile and say "Hey, it's Paul! I love that guy!" To which about half the room, including the instructor, also laughed and smiled saying they've seen his videos too. The instructor then replied "I wouldn't play his video in my class if I didn't think he knew what he was doing." Your videos have reached many people of very different backgrounds to empower themselves for self-defense. I wish you a swift recovery and know that when the end comes (hopefully MANY more years from now), as it will for us all eventually, your legacy of firearm instruction and commitment to personal empowerment will always live on and continue to teach millions of people long after all of us are gone. God bless you, Paul Harrell.
Yep, that's one of the things that drew me to Paul over some other guntubers, he's universal with ALL gun owners regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, political views (outside of 2A rights) etc.
@@bigsoap186 a white guy with a Shatner-esque vocal tic who lives in the Pacific Northwest was shown in a room full of in mostly black people in an inner city Detroit CCW class, proving that his videos are truly informative and reach far more people of differing cultures and races across the country than he realizes. I posted that to show him how many people his videos have helped through just my anecdote alone. Imagine how many other people have had similar experiences.
The humble demeanor. The modesty. The self deprecating humor. That man is a damned national treasure. Thank you Paul for everything you've shared with us over the years
As a man of 54, I'm not too proud to say that I myself need positive male role models. Men, that can reinforce what it means to be a real man. What I admired about Paul was, first, his kind, soft-spoken demeanor. Second his stoicism and professionalism. Third, his service to our country as a Marine for 20 + years. The next aspect of his greatness I would acknowledge is his sense of humor and humility. I am sad to know his family has suffered a terrible loss. Only the Good die young. Paul was too young. What a great man. I am glad to be able to witness a life well lived. I will miss his creative works. We will all miss him greatly. RIP and GOD BLESS PAUL HARRELL. Semper-Fi
Well, it IS reassuring for real men to see other real men, being real men. Part of the beauty of being human is that there is almost always someone who is better than you at anything. so you can always keep watching and learning. If a person has no one that they admire, they are lacking something. Paul was an admirable guy.
@Qingeaton I am in full agreement. I was a plumber who wasn't planning on doing what Dad did for a living. Once I got my Journeyman License, I made an internal commitment to be the very best Plumber I could be. In that quest, I gained two things admiration from my employers, piers, and apprentices. I also gained job satisfaction. As much as I loved teaching the trade, I always was on the lookout for guys who knew how to do whatever skill-set in plumbing and the other trades better than myself. I have a colleague that I was always quick to describe as the only one who was hands down a better plumber than myself. All plumbers have big egos and think they invented the trade. At times, I was just as guilty of that attitude as any of the other guys. But I loved working w my buddy Joe because he made me want to be as good as he is. In Paul's arena and trade, I'm sure he had many admirers way before he got to UA-cam. There are those that really know and don't pretend to know. Paul was one of them. I've been binge watching his content this last week. What a huge resource for the average everyday man who wants to learn but has no aspirations to become a navy seal internet commando.
You’ve got to be strong to go through treatments and surgeries. It’s hard to put it behind you considering potential reoccurrences. I tell people if I can do it, you can do it. I never looked at myself myself as a tough guy once in my life but I’ve had lots of doctors and nurses tell me I’m extremely tough. I think they say that to all the boys.😂
My fiancé was 1 of 113 woman who survived stage 4 triple negative breast cancer, she’s been cancer free for a year. Her health and energy have gone through the roof, there is always hope.
They say you die twice. Once when you leave this world and second when your memory is had or name is uttered for the last time. Paul’s memory and name will never cease to help us and inspire us
I was trying to think of something to say similar to this. Thanks to the interwebs Paul will have a profound impact on countless lives. Generations will have access and be influenced by him (and other legends) and that's a helluva legacy to leave behind, even if it's one cut way too short
I am 50 and my oldest son will be 26 this year. We both found Paul Harrell and had been watching him independently and I told him about Paul and found out he had already been watching Paul on his own. So Paul has touched many people and transcends generations as well! Those that want facts, fundementals, and good humor tempered by experince and a sound mind!
Sorry for bad English, Unlike many people here, Paul wasn't my entry to guntube but I clearly remember how impressed I was with his professionalism and how as a young man I aspired to be like him. All the way from Iran, wishing you beat the cancer and heal soon Paul.
Watching Paul teach on UA-cam is pretty much just as good getting real paid for firearms training. Sometimes better than hands on I would say with how professional and knowledgeable he is
Paul is our own Mr. Rogers. Seeing him in his jacket again reminds me of Fred Rogers putting on his own iconic sweater. BIG LOVE FOR PAUL from Kommiefornistan!
The beauty of Paul is that we let him know how much he was loved before he passed on. I’m also thankful that the community continues to rally around him and his family in this dark time.

@@onelifetolive927 You laugh, but he literally did a presentation on that, talking about available cover when potentially engaging a violent offender in a grocery store.
Paul's dry humor, his absolute commitment to the bit and just how clever some jokes were, is definitely the unexpected surprise of watching his videos. The information was always clearly presented, with context and examples and in the case of significant feedback re-addressed and re-substantiated. No notes, 10/10 channel. The effort and care always and clearly showed.
Could tell GT was left almost feeling like a little kid in Paul’s presence and was just happy as could be for it 😃. Wholesome af and it showed the human side of both these guys.
Fuck I just left a long winded reply trying to say what you said but didn't convey it nearly as well. That's exactly the vibe I got from this interview
@@matthewengle9554 I’m happy to know I wasn’t the only one feeling that vibe and glad I was able to put in to words what you were feeling. It’s not always an easy thing to convey for any of us.
It's like watching someone meet their hero, and that hero is the exception that actually is worth meeting. Super happy for GT to have the opportunity to have this chat.
Seeing Paul being affected by cancer is quite hard to watch. He was such a broad shouldered and muscular guy. Now I barely recognize him. It reminds me to appreciate the time I have left on this earth. 😢😢
I find Paul Harrell's way of speaking relaxing, that's why I always loved wacthing his channel. The moments where he sat down on some log to tell a story were the best.
As an Australian, our firearms channels are extremely limited. I found Paul Harrell's channel a few years ago and it has been my go-to for information ever since. Paul's professionalism, humour, experience and information is second to none. He is so down to earth and a pleasure to watch and to listen. Godspeed Paul. You will be missed.
@alberthofmann420 I don't know this channel you mentioned. If it's a hunting channel or even just a gun channel youtube makes it hard for you and then add Australian laws. Might have just figured it isn't worth it anymore like a lot channels did
@@alberthofmann420Steve Lee had his firearms licence taken from him (can’t remember the specific reason) but they’ve refused to return it to him because of his bad driving record
Mr. Harrell, I'm 30 years old as of January 2024, and I've watched you since I was at least 22, if not earlier. You were one of the foundations of my firearms knowledge and have positively benefited me in ways that no one else could have. You were the only source of firearms and tactics information that has been infallible for me. I returned to your videos year after year because I knew that, even if I had an understanding of the subject material, I was bound to learn something new or be exposed to a new perspective I hadn't considered before. You have my trust, and for that, my respect and attention in all things. G. K. Chesterton once said that the object of an open mind is the same as a mouth, that you open it with the intent to shut it upon something solid. I knew that when you had something to say, it was worth pondering, and that was invaluable to me as a young man.
@@lnaesll so I won’t have any young guys writing me three paragraph messages that could be shortened to “love your vids man”? Awwww sad 😪 It’s just so self-satisfying to write this whole message, and it pained me to imagine Paul wasting his time by reading it.
@@liamstephens3968 I wouldn’t say the driving factor is less than ideal. This is a great driving factor. One of the biggest Guntubers interviewing a true legend in Paul. That’s MORE than ideal hahahaha!
RIP Paul. You're going to be missed by the whole gun community and as a whole. You were one of the first gun channels i watched. Godspeed brother, fly high.
When I saw the thumbnail I was struck cold. My dad passed away two years ago from brain cancer. I found Paul searching for info regarding the Miami shootout, and then I proceeded to binge on his videos for weeks. I'll always associate him with his warning regarding his "Shatner-esque" pauses, which honestly I could never detect, lol. My favorite video of Paul's is "Don't Underestimate the 30-30," because my dad always deer hunted with a Marlin lever action 30-30. But there were so many other greats. What a legend. The wider world doesn't know Paul, but we in the gun community will never forget him. We should all be so lucky to impact others like Paul has.
I too was reluctant to hit play... I had it sitting in a tab for 5-days. It sucks seeing one of your life heroes in the final chapter. It's so disheartening and reminds you of your own mortality. Somehow I can hear Paul's voice with that Shatner-esqe phrasing saying, "Well, it's been found through extensive scientific study that life sucks and you should indeed get a helmet". Gonna miss big Paul... at least I was blessed by his presence and wonderful, no BS vids. God bless you Paul!
I'm part of the wider world, live thousands of miles from America, never owned a firearm and probably never will yet I know of Paul and have thoroughly enjoyed his videos. He's better known than people realise.
Paul's reach goes beyond the US gun community. I'm from England, I'd never really thought much about firearms beyond COD but in lockdown 'the algorithm' dropped a couple of Paul's videos my way. I thought 'here we go, another American gun enthusiast video' but then watched one. The guy on screen with a cheesy intro and some epic slacks started out by apologising for a speech impediment but then went on to clearly and eloquently educate and entertain me for about half an hour! I was taken aback. So I watched a couple more. Where the difference lies with Paul is that in addition to being (what you call) an expert, he avoids opinion and dogma and is considered and scientific. It made me realise that I could find the topic fascinating - both the engineering aspect and the human aspect (the cultural differences in the attitudes to firearms). So cheers Paul, I've learnt a great deal from you and enjoyed your videos - I raise a pint to you.
Even Norway! Although I like and enjoy shooting guns, Norway is far from being gun centric with all it's strict laws and such, but Paul is a very informative man with a lot of knowledge that can teach you about the topic while being entertaining!
Damn..... man in tears rn. Just found out about his cancer and his death at once. Used to talk to him via chats on youtube comments all the time. elaborating and talking about specifics. My favorite was Proprietary ammunition talk. Rip man....
Cancer absolutely sucks. I was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney cancer last year, and I had one kidney removed. I’m in my late 30’s, and I’ve never had any health issues my whole life. I’ll never forget the date and time I got the diagnosis call. I’m very lucky it was caught by accident, but I also realize others aren’t so lucky. Praying for you Paul. You are an inspiration and you will live on through your videos and indelible influence on us.
It's a legitimate question...incase you been living under a rock, fatal cancers in people have skyrocketed since the roll out of the covid vaxx.. Not to mention massive increase in "Sudden Adult Death Syndrome" and other illness/death related incidents such as blood clots/strokes. Many people that were once a in a perfect bill of health are now suddenly becoming super sick and or dropping dead on the spot. @@nivlacyevips
Im from Czech republic and watching Paul helped me understand firearms better. After reaching the legal age i got my permit and now regularly conceal carry. I appreciate your data driven approach. Thx Paul !
Paul is looking rough as a result of cancer. But it isn’t killing his personality. He’s still so down to earth and hasn’t lost his great sense of humor. This interview was excellent. I’m gonna miss you Paul.
Paul’s Thanksgiving specials are UA-cam gold. Thank you for everything you’ve taught us Paul. You’re too humble to realize the impact you’ve made on so many people.
Paul is the Bob Ross of guns. Simple, calm, educational. I've fallen asleep to his vids many a late night. Hope he can enjoy all the time he has left with us. Thanks Paul. You're Golden.
Oh man, Paul and Hickok45 were my intro into the UA-cam gun community. Both helped me immensely with picking out my first gun. So cool to read all the love on here for an absolutely legend.
Sadly I only learned of Paul 2 days ago through his "I'm dead" video. On the other hand, all his videos will be new to me and I am excited for that. Rest in Peace Paul.
“Old Marines never die, they just fade away.” Thank you Paul for a lifetime of service to our nation. Most people ask themselves at some point, “did my life make a difference?” Yours certainly has and continues to. God Bless.
Just FYI if you boys are actually reading this, I was a dealer for the last 13 years. I can tell you for a bonafide fact that Paul cost Federal at least some money, maybe not enough for them to notice, but definitely some. After I watched that video we never stocked one single box of 10MM Federal ever again. Obviously we still needed to have 9mm HSTs among other Federal products so we couldn't go for a full on boycott. But not only did we not stock it I specifically would tell people why I refused to stock it and back it up by pointing them to the video so I know some handfulls of people who went on to in turn never buy any 10mm from Federal again. Thanks for making this video happen. It was great seeing you guys together as I personally consider your "Becoming deadly"/RECCE/Whatever you wanna call em', videos to be every bit as valuable as anything in Paul's work. Honestly I don't know what I'm gonna do this Thanksgiving either. I might actually legitimately go cry. Haha. Anyway, be safe guys and thanks for everything.
@@lindboknifeandtool honestly not sure but iirc 10mm has been rising in popularity as a sa caliber as of the last few years even though we do have to hand it to the boomers who still love their wheelguns, because .357 is pretty scary. though at the end of the day getting shot is not fun.
@@hrvstmn31 was the conclusion that it’s basically just a .40? I was under the impression that .40 was an intermediate that’s kinda outdated now with the new 9mm loadings. Always wonder, my dad has a Glock 23 (if that’s the .40) just want to learn more. I might not even be able to get my concealed weapons license. Involuntary psychiatric hold, multiple medications that prohibit. Wish me luck!
Anything firearms related, I search and watch Paul's videos first. He is the most insightful, relatively scientific, and relatable advisor. Absolute legend.
I met him last Sunday. My dad and I went to one of his symposiums in pendleton Oregon. It was an incredible day for both my dad and me. And it was an absolute honor to meet him in person. Meeting him was one of the greatest memories in my firearms journey.
I'm sorry, I am watching this video after Paul Harrell passed away. Hearing how humble he is during the interview is bringing tears to my eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whether he accepts it or not, I think most of us will agree that Paul Harrell has had a substantial positive impact on the community and individual lives. Thanks Paul, and thanks GT for getting this interview with him. It's good to see and hear from him again despite his condition. I hope he's comfortable, and a miracle would not be out of place.
Its the best run down of whats probably the most high profile and studied LEO engagements I've seen. Anyone interested in the subject would do well to watch it. I've learned a lot from Paul, the man is truly an icon, despite his protests to the contrary.
I lost my dad a month ago to stage 4 cancer that was discovered 12 days before he died. All of us including him thought he was just extremely sick and was losing weight because he had skipped a few meals due to his illness. I checked up on him on his birthday morning before I went to work, but didn't want to wake him. That day while I was at work, he suffered a stroke and was taken to the ER via ambulance. After the recovery wasn't going as planned they did an ultrasound and discovered a mass in his liver. After that they continued to find more, kidney, pelvis, spine, and eventually where it started in his lung. My dad smoked tabbaco from 15 to 57, and had COPD. Watching him fight from a hospital bed with hallucinations and confusion from malnutrition, and try to relearn how to swallow, and sit up, only to see him begin to decline, still hoping for some sort of improvement, only for the pain to get so severe he had to be medicated beyond any form of consciousness. Then to go home at 4 am, and come back to find that he had already passed. The day that hit me the most was the day the cancer was announced. Cancer, bloody cancer sucks man. I'm almost 24, and I know my parents had me late in life, but my dad was 67, he should have had atleast 10 more years minimum. But fricken cigarettes, and cancer took all of that away in just a few short years. They knew something was wrong with his liver in early 2021, but the whole world panicked over a strange new flu from china, and the medical field apparently wanted to put the tests for my dad on the back burner, and focus on the response. Then after they started allowing them again my dad was too afraid to check after that. 12 fricken days. Thats all I had to know he had cancer, thats the only advice I knew that my dad's "illness" wasn't just a bad flu. If there already is a cure, that people are hiding because there is no money in it, like some say, I hope they realize someday the damage they caused and are horrified by what they have done, because cancer is the worst. To watch someones own body fight with itself until the body becomes so weak from the cancer stealing most of the resources that even their meals are mostly wasted. For a rouge cell to turn into a nutrients theif that sucks the life out of them. It's a horrible fate. If there is anyone reading this that is putting of quitting the tabbaco, or even vapes. This is your moment. Christ still chose to love you, He still chose to die for you, inspite of yourself. You don't need them anymore. You have freedom in Him. My heart goes out to Mr. Harrell and his family. Cancer is the absolute worst. The only solace I really have in this life is, that there is a God, He is good, and He will hold the enemy, lucifer responsible for all the evil he has caused, as he was the one who brought sin and death into this world. People may make choices, but he temps them into the wrong choice. And he will awnser for the suffering he has caused. My prayers are with Harrell and his family. Cancer is an awful parasite.
Sorry about that my dude. I feel you. Lost my ol man at 69 on Dec 24 yrs back. Yea. His was very related to agent orange dealing with it in Nam days. Theyll live on tho. Yeah, my dad also passed from cancer at 67. I think people, esp the younger ones, aren't prepared for what aging entails. An awful lot of people go out hard... I know guys who went out a lot earlier than your and my dad, so there's that. All the more reason to live your life to the fullest. Your dad would want that for you too. Godspeed.
Came back to watch this again after the news this week. Rest in Peace Paul, thank you for a lifetime of service to country and to UA-cam. One of the all-time great educators. 🫡
My father taught me all the outdoorsy stuff I could want, except firearms. Paul Harrell filled that role for me and got me into firearms. I will be forever grateful for that.
Paul, I might be a nobody, but I won't sit here and allow you to tell me your impact is negligible. You're a wonderful man with a vast knowledge I hope to acquire, and a kind soul. As one of the young men Garand pointed out that you've helped, I hope one day you're able to understand the truly profound feeling so many stranger have for you, purely because you're a good wholesome man, that shows he cares. You're a treasure. God bless you, and your family.
i'm 12 mins in writing this and just want to say what a beautiful human being this man was. I treat people who have cancer as a profession and he hits home especially with his humbleness, gratitude, stunningly sharp wit, and overall likability. Paul has left a positive impact on everyone he's met from the beginning to the very end i'm sure and has left many hearts broken from his early departure which is just another testament of his impact. No one deserved to have his voice heard more than this man and he earned every opinion he had.
The best thing about Paul and his body of work is how down-to earth it all is. He comes up with a hypothesis and tests the validity of it. He passes along his experience, his opinions, minus the attitude and the bombast. Paul, your videos were an excellent baseline of facts, a very valuable contribution to the firearm community. Our thoughts and deepest prayers are with you during this most difficult time, and thank you for sharing a bit more with us.
Met the man at a gunshow, nice guy. One of the best firearms channels on youtube. His miami dade analysis is still something i rewatch because unlike many youtube circles he went out and actually fired shots in those positions to bring the point across. It aint terminal until its over, we are praying for you Paul.
Paul represents the best of what being a responsible gun owner should be. No attitude, no bravado, nothing to prove. I'm not particularly comortable watching firearms content on the internet... but I'll watch Paul Harrell all day. Guy's a trove of knowledge, and we'd all be better off emulating his demeanor. You're leaving a solid, respectable legacy, Paul. For real. I genuinely hope you're proud of what you've accomplished.
I don't think he ever mentioned anyone specific, but he was an expert at "throwing shade" at some of the other gun video guys that were over-zealous goobers.
Paul is a solid individual. I saw him in the wild one time in Oregon but didn't say anything because I thought he was having a normal day off with his lady. It was probably the respectful thing to do, and I wouldn't change that, but I do wish I could have said something kind to him about his work/impact on me. This was awesome to watch and he will be terribly missed. My favorite PH video was his .22LR home defense video where he shows actions taken for self-defense on a water jug or something like that with a .22LR rifle and then without where he runs up and field goal kicks it. "See the difference, you be the judge." Genius! I will miss this man. Thanks GT for interviewing him.
I believe I saw him in the wild too in mt hood national forest, I know he's a personal person so I just let it be, but I feel the same way I wish I would have just said my piece and left.
As a Malaysian that only learn about firearms discipline online and reading materials thanks to national laws here, I thank you to you, Mr Paul Harrel for providing immense knowledge and understanding in firearms since I was in High School. Thank you for opening the door to better understanding in guns and how to respect them. Your videos gave more information and intertaining thoughts for online gun class. If I want to compare guntubers since then, you are the experienced uncle that always guide us on how to do and don't. I pray for the betterment of your health and take care there, Mr Harrel. Thank you GarandThumb for the interview too. Yours respectfully, Mirzahakeem.
If you ever get the chance to visit the US, I recommend a stop in Texas. They have indoor and outdoor ranges where you can rent most types of firearms to learn how to shoot. Your only options staying in Malaysia to gain firearms experience is to either join your Army or Police. Thank you for commenting on this video, keep learning, and prosper.
I like how the one guy says "go to the US" when hunting, shooting clubs, firing ranges,self-defense,pest control, and asset protection are all things here that allow one to own a firearm. Finding a place to buy a gun is straight forward enough,It's just that the process of getting the license can be a hassle due to red tape and the like.
I've worked half my life in the Air Force. Every once in a while I'll meet an engineer who is not only personable and straightforward, but I could listen to them talk forever about their hobbies or points of interest. Paul Harrell is that guy for so many of us in the firearm community. He's not Jerry Bruckheimer movie, just an extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and charsmatic engineer type that is widely considered one of the best channels not only in the firearms community, but UA-cam itself. Thank you for the hundreds of hours your poured out for us Mr. Harrell. Fantastic interview.
Paul was the definition of humility here as he gracefully took praise for his work. He really drives home that helping people was what made him feel best about what he did, and we all love him for it. Rest in peace, Paul. A true legend and giant in our community. Thanks for giving us so much of yourself. Thanks to Garand Thumb for doing this.
One time Paul felt it necessary to demonstrate his qualifications, so he dumped a box full of shooting medals and trophies on a table. Paul was a _hell_ of a shot... I recall him putting 5 shots on a silhouette at 50 yards with a S&W Model 36. His claim to represent the "average shooter" was modesty, a desire not to rest on his laurels. I would say he represented the top 5% of shooters by ability.
Paul Harrell appreciator from New Zealand here, adding to the list of globe spanning comments on this vid, demonstrating that being a good bastard is recognised no matter where it’s observed. Good on ya Paul, ya good bastard.
Im sincerely surprised anyone from that... Ivory Island can like firearms folk like Paul. Nevertheless, I'm grateful someone there has some sanity. Cheers!
Another Kiwi (NZ) here. Don't have any hand guns but have been watching Paul for about 4 years now. Love his content, especially his shotgun stuff. And his long but necessary diatribes full of caveats etc were outstanding at times. Some genuine LoL moments 😂😂. All the best for the future Paul, and thanks a lot to Garand Thumb for posting this interview! Cheers 👍👍

Such a great mentor!
Great story. 👍🏻

Paul's breakdown of the 1986 Miami shootout is the best that I've ever seen. I still watch that every once in a while and learn something new every time. He is a legend in the community and his no nonsense, straight to the point approach always kept me watching. i'm surprised that Paul Harrell hadn't done a team-up video with the legendary Clint Smith of "Thunder Ranch", since he too is a firearms expert as well as being a retired Vietnam Veteran and former Police Officer.

@FuzedBox there personalities and styles clashing is exactly what could have made an entertaining video. As long as they understand that from the beginning and can take advantage of it. The one guy we don’t need “dad advice” from. He’s been giving it to us all along. God bless you, Paul.
The instructor then replied "I wouldn't play his video in my class if I didn't think he knew what he was doing."
Your videos have reached many people of very different backgrounds to empower themselves for self-defense. I wish you a swift recovery and know that when the end comes (hopefully MANY more years from now), as it will for us all eventually, your legacy of firearm instruction and commitment to personal empowerment will always live on and continue to teach millions of people long after all of us are gone.

Same experience as my first Paul video. Posted a comment asking if the speech impediment is a running gag?
Damn..... man in tears rn.
Hang in there!
That's terrifying, hang in there man
How long ago did you get the "vaccine"?
@@inputfunny Did your mother have any children that lived?

He isn't dying. I refuse to acknowledge a "terminal" diagnosis. Fuck cancer, he can survive if he fights with his whole spirit
(I've had family die of stage 2 and had family survive no options terminal cancer)
I felt so sad for him in the first seconds of the video because of the vissibilty of his current state

Rewatched this today after hearing of Paul’s passing - loved this interview, rest in peace Paul.
Paul’s Thanksgiving specials are UA-cam gold. Thank you for everything you’ve taught us Paul. You’re too humble to realize the impact you’ve made on so many people.
I watch them every year!!!!
Paul is the Bob Ross of guns. Simple, calm, educational. I've fallen asleep to his vids many a late night. Hope he can enjoy all the time he has left with us.
Thanks Paul. You're Golden.
Thanks for the opportunity to listen to Paul. He is a humble icon.
RIP paul. Its painful to lose him today. God Speed Paul, it was a pleasure watching your content.
Oh man, Paul and Hickok45 were my intro into the UA-cam gun community. Both helped me immensely with picking out my first gun. So cool to read all the love on here for an absolutely legend.
What was your first pick?

The OG if there was to be one. Thanks Mr Harrell for all the lessons
Hell yeah, brother. He definitely set a presedence for the community of Guntubers and the 2A community. Paul will be missed.
Same here.
Same
Here too
Sadly I only learned of Paul 2 days ago through his "I'm dead" video. On the other hand, all his videos will be new to me and I am excited for that. Rest in Peace Paul.
“Old Marines never die, they just fade away.”
Thank you Paul for a lifetime of service to our nation.
Which video?
blame lucky gunner, for a while hst's are what i could get and they are pretty mean.
Where can I find info on this 10mm thing? Cursory UA-cam search is producing shills
His Miami Dade video is by far one of the best on the subject.
That video was a fountain of wisdom.
Comprehensive and entertaining the entire way through.
Amen to that
A nerd strap! 🤣
That was the first video of Paul's I watched.i loved His content ever since.
I'm brand new to Paul;s world.. Catching up. Handling his illness with such bravery and grace. What a great man. RIP Paul.
Anything firearms related, I search and watch Paul's videos first. He is the most insightful, relatively scientific, and relatable advisor. Absolute legend.
Mr. Harrell, I hate that we have little time left with you, but I feel blessed that you have given us so much over the years. Thank you, sir.
I hope he's comfortable, and a miracle would not be out of place.
well said.
Pauls video on the Dade County shootout is the most informative breakdown of the incident you'll ever see. Have watched it multiple times.
Id wager a lot of people found his channel on that video
Sorry for you loss. Indeed... pancreatic C is one of, if not THE most, deadly one. And quick. I also have had 2 uncles in that situation; they're 69 and 80. It is a battle with an unfortunate end. TIME heals, my friend. BE patient with yourself.
God bless your family , I recently lost my cousin to cancer and was so tough for the family and his wife and three daughters.
Godspeed.
Lord bless you and your dad
Watching this again now, after watching his goodbye video makes me think more and more about the tenets this man lived by
Came back to watch this again after the news this week. Rest in Peace Paul, thank you for a lifetime of service to country and to UA-cam. One of the all-time great educators. 🫡
Garand Thumb, this is the best video you’ve ever made. We all genuinely appreciate you going out to see Paul and get this recording.
no shot this is a bot account lmao this is the third comment that has said that word for word letter for letter
The fact that Paul is still his absolute genuine self here makes my heart warm. He's such a unique human 🫡
My father taught me all the outdoorsy stuff I could want, except firearms. Paul Harrell filled that role for me and got me into firearms. I will be forever grateful for that.
Same here!
My hubby and I watched every video he ever posted. RIP Paul, you will be sorely missed😢
Thank you for having Paul Harrell on. A true gentleman and warrior!
You couldn't word that any better, my friend. That's exactly what lot of us feel. God bless Paul Harrel
Man he is so cheery and alert in this video, hits me in the feels.
i'm 12 mins in writing this and just want to say what a beautiful human being this man was.
The man..the jacket...the legend. Godspeed, sir.
Rip paul, so glad you had the chance to sit down with him and have this chat to share with us before he passed.
This is a video that closes generational gaps. 2 UA-camrs connecting like this is what the community needs
Thanks for interviewing the Legend. You are awesome Garand Thumb.👍
Yours respectfully,

Well said, friend. Well said.
Paul’s honesty, knowledge, wisdom, kindness is an example to all.
His humor is always entertaining.

In true Paul Harrell fashion you should have released a 24 min "short version" and 2.5 hour "long version" of the interview

I know which one I would rather watch 😄
Is this a joke? Where's the 2.5 hour one?
