I went to the civil rights museum as a kid, and they had a (rather macabre) display case on the MLK assassination, Rem 760 included. I took one look and said loudly to my friend, "Hey that's my dad's gun!"

This entire time I swear at one point growing up I was told he had a bomb thrown in his home and he died that way. But now learning he was shot on a balcony makes me realize the fact that growing up I had a lot of misinformation told to me.

My dad actually owns one of these rifles, the Model 760. It was the rifle he used for hunting when he would go with my grandfather in the 80's.
Great video as always! Sidenote. The Remington 760/7600 are known as "Amish machine guns" in our area. Every 15 year old Amish boy has one of these and will crank out 5 shots faster than you can imagine. Opening day of deer season sounds like the landing of Normandy 😂

I actually know the man who spoke for the king family in court against the FBI. He maintains to this day after many instances of being sued for his involvement in that trial that the FBI and the memphis police department were responsible for mlk’s death. He is an amazing man with incredible stories from his civil rights movement days.

I mean my family bought a car from him and he has published several books one of which, named orders to kill detailed his experience with the king family and his fight for them in court. He also defended James Earl Ray in his trial for MLK’s murder. For obvious reason I don’t exactly want to say disclose his name, even though he is somewhat well known.
I was recently gifted this exact rifle, it had been purchased, put in the safe and never fired. The owner was a friend of mine who passed away and left it to his son, who in turn gifted it to me. I put a scope on it, zeroed it in and stuck it back in the safe. It’s absolutely immaculate, and I plan on leaving it for my grandchild who is now on the way.
Guns....the gift that keeps on giving.
Those types of guns are now more than just something to hunt or defend.

Apparently it's on record that there was a special operations unit that was dispatched to Memphis at the time of the murder, likely as a back up unit just in case the actual shooter missed. When you talked about the FBI cutting down the tree branch that was in the way of the window where the shot supposedly took place, that reminded me of how the SWAT unit that entered Steve Paddocks room (during the Las Vegas Massacre) found a cold and long dead Paddock and broke the window out with a hammer. (after body cam footage showed the windows were originally undisturbed during entry)

Honestly that entire incident baffles me, but as to the windows, there was one broken by the shooter during the massacre, and ive seen a video where theres 2 kids saying they heard 2 gunshots and heard glass falling, so it could be a hammer, or it was the gunman trying his luck at shooting fuel tanks in the nearby airport before shooting himself.
@commandervile394 do you have any sources on that? I've only ever heard about the Vegas shooting and don't know much about it except that someone in charge there was later in charge of the area that the Maui fires destroyed.
As a Vegasite working about 3 miles from Mandalay Bay, I can tell you that driving by it a day or so later, there were windows blown out on multiple floors on multiple sides of that building. That's not even the weirdest part of that whole situation, but I'd be here typing for a week to share it all and I still have my questions about every bit of that malarkey ass story.

From what I understand; all 740/ 742/7400/750/7600 series rifles used a 1-9.125" twist on the 22" pipes and 1-10" on the carbine models (at least in .30-06, .308, and .243 models)
Other than the lug changes over the iterations, gas port change on the 750, and the bottom plate setup on the mag these guns never changed much.
My good friend (also an LE employee) has a Remington pump in .308. My Grandfather had the Remington 7600 semi auto in 30-06. We called it the one shot wonder. Gas system was plugged as usual. When I became an armorer for my Department, I tapped out the gas ports and it worked great. My point, you can actually buy them new today.

@@adamimberti6948 Because MLK was the civil rights movement's golden boy at the beginning, pacifist, Christian etc. Malcom X was too Muslim and too radical for them

I missed the "edge" . I also missed the point of this video. I found nothing instructional/educational/informative. The killing of a non-violent civil rights leader is atrociios, especially for the 2A comminity, and even more so about MLK. I surmised, only by my opinion, that the US would be in much better conditions if he were alive today. Your humor was missed.
