You’ve a super cool brother! And it was absolutely my honor to get this piece of Nuno history back into his hands again. Thanks for commenting too. My mind is blown that you came and commented. I really appreciate it. 🙏
Now tell your brother to talk about this N4 Padauk so people stop thinking I charged him and arm and a leg to return it, as talked about in Herman Li’s video. 😂
Nope. The one I had in my possession was the N4 made of padauk. Toddzilla’s was an early Davies model made of alder. Nuno played both variants pretty regularly early on.
@@11thFret Yeah that’s what he said indeed. Strange, maybe he confused the two purchases. Regardless, class act for returning it the way you did and how you respect the history of what had happend prior. Would love to hear the story told by Nuno. It’s obvious that the return of the body meant a lot to him, als judging from the comment from his brother
I bought a Fender strat when i was in my early 20's. Ended up being a stolen guitar, and the original owner was a good customer of mine about 15 years later.... He was talking about the guitar one day, even mentioned the name of the person they thought stole it, which was who I bought it from... I drove home, and brought it back and gave it to him. He still has the guitar to this day!
Thanks! I have zero regrets about the entire process of getting it home. Well, maybe one regret that I tried to film his reaction without permission. But the rest was totally rewarding.
I know nothing else about you, your channel, or your content, but this story and your actions are more than enough to justify my subscribing to this channel. Awesome, awesome, awesome story...
Thanks for watching. The entire process of buying it and the investigations that followed were definitely a very memorable adventure, that’s for sure. Something I’ll never forget. The end result absolutely paid off, as he was the nicest person. I was honored to be a major part of that guitar’s return home.
Amazing and honest Real Human Being, who impressed me much with this video and gesture to Nuno!!! I will watch your video more times, because want to see the history again! Greetings from Bulgaria, from one of huge Nuno and Extreme fans there! I wish health, happiness and love to everyone of you people! :-)
14:45 That’s very respectful and admirable. You hear about how some people have sold stuff to Nuno (or anyone famous really) who seem to take advantage of the situation. But clearly giving the legend back something that was his for so long is entirely genuine. It’s so rare to find people with that mentality. Cheers.
Thanks Yanko. I've been around many of those same people you described, as I've lived around Hollywood, CA for longer than I care to admit. It was just the right thing to do.
That guitar has been on some of my favourite records of all time and is a massive part of my youth… I used to spend hours staring at pictures of that thing! Well done you, you’re a stand up guy. That’s a GREAT story.
Sh*t, almost crying to see your kindness man... I'm a bigfan of Nuno, and you tell a very great story.. It lost and it's find it's wayback home, and you are it's guardian angel alive.. And yeah Nuno is a cool guy and a very kind person.. Let's give this man some respect Nuno, he saves your history back to your arms again Be blessed as always Chris (11th Fret)🤟
What a fantastic story and so respectfully told! You did the right thing by getting his guitar body back to him. I have a Washburn guitar that Nuno autographed during a charity event a couple years ago (I think it was in 2019) He scowled at the Floyd Rose bridge and wanted to know if I'd changed it out (I hadn't) apparently it wasn't his preferred style and I learned that sometimes the parts can get swapped out by retail centers. Regardless, his signature is so bold and spectacular on it. I hope he autographed something for you because his signature is badass! He seems to be very down-to-earth guy for being such a rock legend.
Thank you so much! I didn’t get anything autographed in return. I got to spend a few minutes on his front porch chatting in addition to the video he made for my wife, which is a great memory in itself. I’m curious to know about that Floyd Rose he scowled at. 😂
Your a good man Chris. Very rarely do you find honest people in this world anymore but you my friend are one. I wouldn't have wanted the $25 back either. Just returning Nuno's guitar and meeting him would be enough plus he sent your wife a birthday greeting. I am sure you made his day just like he made your wife's and your day. Great story brother. Thanks for sharing.
That is very commendable of you not taking advantage of the situation and doing a good deed. Some guitars have a journey and a story and you played a big part on this guitar's journey. What a great story!
Incredible story! Funny enough, I have owned two padauk N4s and have always wondered what happened to Nuno's guitar that was so prominent for some time in his career. I had heard a story that Nuno found out the particular wood species was not a sustainable variety and was no longer comfortable "endorsing" its usage in guitars. I'd love to know what actually happened to it but, as you said, that's his story to tell and no one else's. Great video!
Thanks for watching! I (believe I)can say that he had retired his Padauk models after experiencing multiple neck breaks, disinterested at the time over having a new neck installed.
Thank you so much for this story! I am a big fan of padauk N4s, posters of Nuno with this guitar were all over my walls when I was a teenager and still learning to play guitar. It is my favorite among all Nuno’s guitars. I always wondered- what happened to it and where did it disappear. So cool of you to share this story, I am super exited! I also had a chance to meet Nuno and to do a short interview back in 2012, and than they invited me to to visit a soundcheck before the show. I was super impressed how Nuno himself was taking control on the sound, double checking everything. Attention to the regular procedures which you rarely see among the superstars of his caliber. God bless him!
I’ve always heard how meticulous he can get with his sound. I still don’t fully understand the volume pot with a stopper in the knob. But that goes to show that he knew what he wanted, like a less hot L500XL humbucker with the volume stuck at 8, 9, or whatever. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks so much for watching.
This is so cool! What an astonishing unique experience to have! I am so impressed at your sharpness to have been able to pick out those high end, yet obscure specs on the guitar to know it was indeed Nuno’s. I felt like I was watching an exciting movie during this whole video. I can’t thank you enough for uploading this tale to UA-cam🙌🏻 and the fact that Nuno lives not too far from you made the story all the more crazy exciting. Congratulations on reuniting the two 🎶
Thanks Leah! Sorry so late on responding. It appears your comment was held for review, and I wasn't sharp enough on UA-cam Studio to catch it. I truly, sincerely appreciate your compliments. Thanks for watching! See you in future video comments. 🤗
This was the first and only Paduak made by Stephen Davies before mass produced paduak were made by Washburn. Of course it's a very special guitar to him. The neck was broken during a show and then replaced for a whyle with a maple neck. (The broken neck was sold on eBay by someome that got it in the audience and it was totaly wrecked) You can find picture of this body with a new neck. This was when Nuno made his firts solo album back in 1998. After that i have never seen this guitar again... surely because it was stolen back then and taken appart...
Thank you for sharing ur nice story. It's so amazing. Nuno is my #1 guitar hero, it's so cool to hear very interesing stroy from you! Also it's very nice of you to bring back the body of the guitar to Nuno without asking anything. It's so cool man!!! Cheers!!!
Amazing story!! I love N4 lore. Thank you so much for sharing. I stopped by Richard's place in Seattle and sure enough he still has the rest of the paduak blank that this body was built from. At one point he was going to spin up the old Stephens machinery/jigs and start making them again, but I never saw anything come of that. I hope he does it!
Thanks for watching! Next time I fly home back to the PNW, I’ll have to stop by Richard’s shop. We talked for a bit when I was investigating this body and he was totally willing to make a replacement neck then.
@@11thFret yeah I recommend it. He's a super nice guy and was kind enough to show me some of his spec drawings, cool Davies era stuff, and tell back in day stories. It was a highlight of my trip. Stephen's was a really great company that not a lot of people seem to remember. Cheers
I'm from Brazil. This guitar is part of my history and musical influence. When I looked at this body in a facebook group I knew right away that it was Nuno's padouk. I would keep it forever, but I'm glad YOU returned it to Nuno. It's a shame he doesn't appear playing it in a new video. Did you take any more photos or videos from this body?
Hey Herlon! Thanks for watching. I unfortunately never took any additional photos or videos of it. I was actually kind of mad at myself for that, especially when putting this video together long after the fact. Which Facebook group was talking about this body? And yeah, still kind of bummed Nuno hasn’t re-emerged with it. He did says he was likely going to get a new neck for it. I even had Richard Weikum, the Stephen Davies’ old apprentice up in Seattle, WA, willing to build a new neck for it (part of the story I omitted). This was before I found Nuno. After I was contacted by his camp, my focus was to then just get it back home to him ASAP.
That's an amazing story) most people wouldn't dig that far and just order new neck and play it. I do remember this guitar in Nuno's music videos, live videos and promo pictures from 1992 to early 2000s. Definitely was one of his favorite guitars. It's disappointing he didn't give you more reward for such a valuable gear in his career
Thanks! I really wasn’t expecting much in return, tbh. However, I was promised “something special” from his manager that never materialized. But I never sought it out because I didn’t think I required anything. Plus, I’m used to what I call the “Hollywood promise,” which are always grand gestures never seen through. I’ve been here long enough to experience that on the constant. And in no way is that a discredit to Nuno. He didn’t make the offer. He knew his personalized video to my wife was special enough for me. Oh well. Thanks for watching and commenting. 🤘🏻
and THAT folks is how society should be...... be proud of yourself for that. I remember interviewing Steve DeMarchi from ALIAS and he told me about the time he was introduced to Nuno. At the time, Extreme had the hit MORE THAN WORDS...... and ALIAS had the hit MORE THAN WORDS CAN SAY ...... Steve looked at Nuno after their introduction and said (points at Nuno) "more than words"..... then points at himself and says "More than Words Can Say" ..... they both laughed..
Oh man. Now I’m going to have to go dive back into Alias. 😂 Yeah, I’m pretty proud of how this whole story panned out. I know I’d want something important returned to me too. Golden rule stuff, right there. Thanks for watching, sharing your kind words, and building me back up. I’m just here recovering from the last flood, and pushing water away from this one happening now. All good stuff. 😂
Honestly, what should have happened is that after you turned back the $25 compensation (lol at that offer), the rockstar in the luxury neighbourhood should have gotten your details and gone ahead and quietly given you a proper compensation for the effort, regardless, a decent paycheck or valuable instrument from his sponsor etc. The fact this was apparently an important personal item by his own admission and all he did was make a little clip on a phone reflects very poorly on him.
@fefferofhossen Thanks for also trying to stick up for my side of the fence. But I honestly didn’t mind. I mean, if they’d have offered a new N4, 4N, or Nele, I definitely would not have said no. I can but probably shouldn’t say that I was offered a “nice surprise” in the mail by his management, but nothing never came and I never pried about it. It’s something I’m kind of used to in around Hollywood. I call it the “Hollywood Promise,” which outlines big plans/intentions and no follow through. It’s not Nuno’s fault. He wasn’t part of most of the back-and-forth dialogue. And they did ask what I wanted, and I shrugged it all off bashfully, because I knew that guitar wasn’t rightfully mine anyway. If I made demands, I’d have felt like I were holding it ransom.
Wow you got to go to his house and meet him that's a wonderful thing to do with no gain for yourself what a nice person you are meeting Nuno what a dream you have a good soul
That new album is crazy good! RISE appears on my Apple Music feed regularly now. I’ve listened to their new album quite a bit, actually. Thanks for the watch and the comment!
I’ll have to go watch that! Thanks for the heads up. I was at NAMM last weekend and chatted with Herman Li a bit, trying to clarify what everyone was saying about the guitar I returned to him apparently mentioned in his interview with Nuno. Herman confirmed seeing it at Nuno’s just as I returned it. Herman told me he was offered it to sell for Jason Becker’s charity. I don’t know much beyond that regarding its status. But if Nuno finally rebuilt it and it’s in “Rebel,” I can’t wait to see it!
the N1 and N2 are the budget and mid-range models of the "N" line respectively and as such do not have the Stephens neck joint. the N5 has three single coil pups and the N6 has a bridge humbucker and two singles. the N7 is a seven string and the N3 has no Bill Lawrence pup, only 2 washburn branded humbuckers. tho there was a later VERY limited run of N3s (a run of 20 i believe) that had 2 Bill Lawrence humbuckers. thus, by the process of elimination i would say that body was for an N4. which N4 "issue" would be much harder to ascertain with casual observation as there have been many over the last 30 years.
Such a psychological and harsh search to do. I’ve been there, and in some ways am still hunting down old equipment I’ve parted parted with. Best of luck hunting them down!
@@11thFret The GC i sold them to us still there, you’d think they’d be able to find it,but it’s an invasion of privacy issue. I bought new guitars the days i sold them so they have the dates in their system. Never even seen another Westone Super strat remotely similar to mine before anywhere. Thanks!
I used to be "that guy" who'd fire people for pulling up another customer's records at Guitar Center as I worked as their Operations Manager. So yeah, they can never ever breach that trust with customers - not even with one instance. That out of the way, I was thumbing through Craigslist just now and found this Westone with a Floyd: losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/msg/d/montebello-westone-spectrum-dx-made-in/7587547410.html I've no idea what your Westone looked like other than it being a Super Strat. But still, I thought of you when I saw it.
Admittedly, I was a little selfish about me wanting to take it to him. I did want to meet the guy, but I also wanted to be sure it got there in the same condition I picked it up in. Ultimately yeah, it didn’t belong to me and had to be brought home. I mean, technically it ‘did’ belong to me for a week. But you get the point. ;-)
@@11thFret I know what you mean From what i know about Nuno seems like a private dude. From that video it seemed like he appreciated it, I know I would
I'm pretty sure this was mentioned on Herman Li's (guitarist of Dragonforce) Twitch hang with Nuno and they talked about it a bit. He posted the vlog here on UA-cam. I'm going off memory...but I remember Nuno talking about it somewhere and I believe it was that interview.
Nuno did talk about getting one of his original N4’s back in Herman’s video, like the first production model. But that wasn’t the one I returned. On the Padauk model I had, there was a stamped serial of 920506 under the trem cavity, which may or may not have been the guitar’s serial (I’m no Washburn expert in any way to declare that’s the guitar’s serial). Nuno also stated in Herman’s interview that the seller of the guitar he bought asked for (and received) a lot for it. As for me, I simply gave it back in exchange for a personalized video to my wife, of which I posted a snipped of in this episode. I guess I could have gone for gold on returning this to him, but that didn’t feel right to me. It was his, point blank. Thanks for watching and commenting! 🙏
Don’t take this as me trying to push you, but with my experience in social media (streaming and some old youtube videos) I found it a lot easier to build a fan base if you have a set amount of time between each video, especially when it comes to guitar. Some channels like Marty music have them every day, while others might only release one each month. But usually this will give your supporters a video to look forward to each time period. A way you could advertise this would be in your channel description or opening video. Just a suggestion though so don’t take it too seriously. Can’t wait for you to get big!
@@noahbieser7660 Not taken in the wrong way at all, and I thank you for calling it out. It’s something that’s been weighing heavily on my mind. I’m actually finishing up an edit as I type. That all said, I’m working on my presentation skills as I’ve probably trashed more videos than I care to admit since I seemingly have this “issue” of words coming out of my mouth differently than how I’m thinking I’m saying them. It makes editing a real nasty ordeal when the lines are way way off. 😂 While I’m trying to keep my channel curse-word free, the studio is hearing its fair share of expletives when I playback what I shot. I actually used to be good at public speaking, but I think 4-walls and a 5yo child have gotten to me some across the last couple of years. But that’s enough excuses. Back to editing. Hopefully a new one tomorrow. Thanks for calling me out!
"I feel like this guitar is going to need a lot of work, it's missing the neck". It's only with years of experience that you can come to that conclusion so quickly... lol Enjoying the story though, thanks for posting.
Well, necks aren’t an issue usually. I have plenty of those from various brands. But that Stephen’s Extended Cutaway neck is a whole different (and crazily expensive) animal. But I’m glad you enjoyed the story. It was one of my first videos, so I almost narrated my entire thought process from the mundane to my epiphanies. 😂
@@11thFret Hey Kris, good to speak to you. I wouldn't assume that the N4 body was stolen. Nuno has mellowed a lot, but he had a ferocious temper on him - seriously driven and worked like a dog, but was very difficult to deal with. I would think he probably smashed it and left it behind somewhere! Check out the fascinating interview Bob St John did with The Double Stop Podcast (Ep 9) and it will give you an insight in to the difficult genius that he was circa 1995 Waiting For The Punchline. Thank you.
I remember that guitar (Padouk), he used that more than the original (Alder) N4 back in the '92/'93 era. Flannel shirts and Timberland/Doc Martin boots, etc. I always thought that the Padouk N4 looked the best 👍. His original Schecter body, Warmoth neck parstcaster (what washburn based thier 'N' models on) is still, imo, his BEST guitar.....on thier debut album it was black and on Pornographitti it was bare with the reverse Warmoth neck....I dont think the N4's were used until '3 sides to every story' ? Thanks for sharing this cool story 👍
I was searching about Nuno's Washburn N4 Padauk model and got to this video. Wow I am surprised about this story. I really liked this guitar when I saw Rest in peace music video back then. Thank you for making this video. It was such a great story! So you still don't know what happen why this guitar was lost? ANy updates on if Nuno have fixed it?
Hey Al the Guitar Viking (I’m also Nordic / Viking too) - I honestly don’t know what happened to the guitar after I returned it. I really wanted to see it back in action again, but I truly don’t think he has the desire to take it out of retirement. Maybe he will. Hard to say. But I’m well aware over how it disappeared originally as I was told about it by his camp leading up to its return home. I’m just not at liberty to say anything about it, or else this video could have been a whole lot cooler.
@@11thFret I do some similar stories too if you may want to check out my channel. I did the background story of Winger Artwork and Logo design interviewing the designer Dan Hubp.
Now how in the world can you tell that?! Did Maricela wind all 59’s during that era? That’s a cool fact, if so. Did you or do you still work at Seymour Duncan?
@@11thFret There is a lot of information about this in Seymour Duncan forum. That’s where I took from. She didn’t wired all and that’s why SD workers added their surname letter ay the end. Juarez pickups are suppose to be more valuable.
That's awesome! I'm way overdue to tour SD's facilities, so now I have something to dig into more when I do. Thanks for sharing. I'd not ever heard about that until now.

Thanks! I actually grew up near Tacoma, WA, but lived in Vancouver, BC to attend Vancouver Film School in the early-2000’s. While living up there, I did my best to assimilate. After living in Canada, I made my way down to Los Angeles, hitting a few speed bumps along the way. 😬
Fair enough Chris, I actually forgot how weird things were in tbe big cities during the covid lockdown. Here's hoping some good thing comes your way somehow for your efforts to get Nuno's axe-sans-handle back to him. And to Nuno, I retract calling him a d**k.
Life is definitely providing me with many blessings as of late. I’ve been fortunate in landing many great deals year over year, have a great family, and have a roof over my head in this insane Los Angeles economy. So I think I’m riding that sweet spot …for now. *knock on wood*
Only 2 USA “DAVIES” spec padauk models were ever made… both went to nuno. One we haven’t ever seen, the other one was the heavily used and toured one (the one you had) so in a away it was a prototype. But really just a 1 of 2 ever made! I know the guy who has the original broken headstock and part of the neck off this guitar from the show he broke it during.
Woah! I didn’t even know all that. Nuno or his manager didn’t even tell me that. That’s cool your friend has the first broken neck. Nuno did say that the second neck had broken as well before it left his possession.
Could’ve reached out to me and I would’ve connected him with ya. 😉👍 I live in the LA area but am from the same hometown as Nuno. I went to high school with his niece and nephew. Nuno used to unexpectedly stop in our music class in high school once in a while. Great guy and of course one of my favorite guitar players! 🤘🥳
That's awesome, and I totally would have ...if I ever knew you prior to this comment. 😉 All kidding aside, that's amazing that he would stop by your music class. He really is a sweet and humble human being that's finally getting the long-overdue credit he's deserved through the new Extreme single "Rise".
If a seller wants to meet me at any place other than their home I would be suspicious, when I've sold guitars or amps I've always given the buyer my home address that way he can be sure that the gear wasn't stolen and saved me the hassle of delivering it. How many times have we read about a well known musician's guitar being stolen? It's surprising that he wanted such a tiny amount for the axe.
You're absolutely right. I'm not sure what city you live in or near, but Los Angeles is a super strange place - especially right now. I've had some sketchy people show up to my house to buy gear,. Based upon their body language and past experiences, I'm just not comfortable bringing people here anymore because of what's here (wife, kids, and heaps of gear). I obviously have some major trust issues, which is why I usually go moderately 'prepared' for someone to act recklessly with malintent. I actually used to be an operations manager for a large music store chain, which you'll probably guess 'who' on first try. The store I worked at then wasn't in CA, predating my move here. There was one morning where the alarm company called me to let me know there was movement in the store at 3AM. So I hauled my butt over there immediately, arriving in under 10-minutes. The thieves drove their car through the wall to get in, and were successful in grabbing our most collectable guitars displayed throughout the store. We never got any of it back, where we speculated they were likely deported out of the country right after. The thieves also broke into other local M.I. shops that night too, grabbing their vintage and custom shop gear. Two stores that night, mine included, each lost an actual 1962 Fender Stratocaster. So we know they were shopping us all before they made their move. That all said, I carry that occurrence in my mind decades later. So unless I've worked with the person before, I'd rather meet them at a local Starbucks, or wherever there's plenty of people with my Katana Air, Yamaha THR5, Blackstar Fly3. or even my multimeter. But unfortunately for me, I've thrown caution to the wind and set myself up many times for something terrible to happen to me ...like in this very story. I tend to justify it in my head by sending my GPS coordinates to my best friend and keeping him on a call in my ear through AirPods so he can call 9-1-1 if need be. Still... I do accept the 'dumb' in my poorly thought through actions.
Great story, I have had bad luck returning things I have found, 2 times I have found things and when I return them they accuse me of stealing them, so next time I find something I ain't returning shit
Haha. I know exactly how that feels. I’ve been accused before too after doing the right thing and returning someone’s misplaced property. Oh well. As long as I know I didn’t do it, there’s not much for them to go on if I’m accused. Thanks for watching and commenting. 🤘🏻
Great story :) I had a paduak n4, sadly sold on but maybe 20 years ago I finally bought an original N4 stamped Feb 92 on headstock with the extended cutaway like the original 92 models, so a pretty early model for uk £600 with the cool case. its a guitar I would never sell to be honest, plus i installed the original bill lawrence bought from his website a few years before he passed.
Great story! But, why are there jump cuts/edits every few words in this video? I've seen this in a lot of videos lately and I never understood the reason for it. Was it recorded a few words at a time and then edited together? Were there mistakes? I can't figure it out.
Haha. You’ve spotted my insecurities. 😂 As I’m sort-of kidding, UA-cam editing breaks the rules of film editing practices. Jump cuts can be acceptable for many as it allows the flow of the dialogue to run quicker. As UA-cam has so much content by way of a simple click, people have found that gaps in audio can cater to a viewer leaving. Now, this video was an earlier one for the channel. I couldn’t stand listening to my quick, deep breaths in between lines. I’m working on ‘allowing’ that to happen by getting over myself a bit. But sometimes it’s just bad lines cut out, as I may speak the same/similar sentence 3-4 times. Plus, I can sometimes mumble or stutter. “Sometimes” translates to “quite a bit”. C’est la vie. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hey Chris what a great story!!!! I hope someday a bit of karma heads your way!!! Most people would have tried to shake him down and your action speak very highly about your character and being an American!!! GBY Chris and Nuno B. and your love ones!!! Dave
did I miss how it came up missing? I wouldn't hesitate to return the guitar if I found it but I'd ask for a picture and a signed 8x10 in return lol. Dont even care about the $25 either.
Haha. I know the answer, but deliberately didn’t share that detail as I felt it wasn’t my place to do so. That’s why I was vague on that front. But yeah, I was happy with the personal video to my wife for her birthday in exchange for the N4 Padauk’s acquisition. Also just knowing I played an integral part in this guitar’s journey home is cool too. Thanks for watching!
I actually wasn’t even going to watch it since I’m not much of a Rhianna fan. But then the show started, and those floating platforms caught my attention. So I planted my butt right back down to absorb what I was watching. I totally spaced that Nuno plays for her and wasn’t looking for him. Then he jumped out and I started shaking my wife with, “there’s Nuno!” 😂
@@11thFret A lot of Nuno vids started popping up on my suggested so I watched a few. I watched and learned that he was with Rhianna, which I had no idea. So when I saw her duing halftime I wondered if he would be there and yeah he was. I think YT was pumping the SB and set the algorythm to lure in guitar guys. So after that I watched your vid.
That’s rad! So glad to know. I need to jump back on that horse again soon. I’ve been taking a quiet mental break to regroup after my place flooded. So it’s cool to know there’s this wave of Nuno’s YT videos getting traction. It’s a wave I should be riding.
As much as I love Nuno and Extreme for 30 years, keeping you on the front door and no mention on his socialmedias when you could have sold this piece for thousands to hardcore fans and went to great lengths to return it to him isnt a classy move
That’s a deep behavior dive! Thanks for offering that perspective up. I could totally see and align with that angle. I’m just happy to have been part of that journey. 🤗
I’ve tried to watch this one a couple times, but I must be missing it. It’s a long watch, so I put it on while doing household chores and what have you. There’s a point near the beginning of the video where he says he got one of his original guitars back, and how someone basically got a bunch of guitars in trade. That’s wasn’t me. I was promised “something special” from his manager, but nothing ever materialized. I wasn’t mad about that at all. But all I got was the video to my wife that I requested.
Good video sir, I am a student from india, I am a music lover too , i want to learn guitar , but i don't have a guitar, as i can't afford one due to family:s low financial condition. I don't need money just a little guitar named yamaha c40 classic guitar its 90$ i guess . I will be thankful to you my whole life and even will try to return your amount spent, when i will have enough money.🙏trust me.
Thanks for watching and commenting though, despite the length. I’ve gotta keep those watch hours up on the road to UA-cam monetization. Now I just need them 1,000 subs. 😂
You didn't even get your $25 back? I think he can afford it, bro. I would insist on reimbursing someone who returned something of value to me, personally.
Meh. I refused and was happy to get a video to my wife. There wasn’t any hard feelings. But thanks for advocating to that little voice in my head that kept saying, “ask for an N4 Padauk or a Nele!”
Well, props to you Chris (Kris?) for being a stand-up guy and doing the right thing in the best way you could, and actually at some real personal risk and inconvenience. I think Nuno was something of a dick for not inviting you in (I'm sure he had on-site security) and opening it in front of you. If I were him I'd have asked you to stay for lunch and said, "Hey man, thanks again, this means a lot and let's stay in touch." This story makes me feel like going to his fan site- I'm sure he has one- and telling him I think he's a pompous ungrateful dick. Like you I respect his ability but was never grabbed by his work with "Extreme." More like "just another formula pop-metal hair band."
Thanks Mark! I was actually briefed by his manager before driving over there, giving me a heads up over what to expect and not to expect. I don't want to paint any picture that he was ungrateful, but we were also in the throws of COVID at the time. He was basically being super cautious, considering we didn't know each other. Vaccines were just rolling out, I'm in Los Angeles where people commonly freak out over everything, etc. He was actually pretty chill. Part of me wondered if I could have squeaked out a comped guitar, like his "Nele" which had just come out. But I felt a little ick just thinking of me pulling that kind of extortion. His video to my wife was plenty, considering a Cameo appearance would likely cost a lot more. I was just happy to get it home. ...To Nuno and company: If you're reading this, I wouldn't turn away an N4 or Nele if offered. ;-)
Yeah ! Why not just give it to his manager. Why hold him hostage for a meeting and then with out permission film him and his house. Not cool man. Your little routine did fool Nuno, his manager, nor does it fool me !
Because his manager is on the east coast and I’m a 10-minute drive away from Nuno’s house. Plus, I’d have been happy to hand it to anyone at his house as I’d been texting with his cousin about it’s return, but Nuno answered the door. But thanks for watching anyway and doing your best to fill in some blanks that I had omitted from the video.
3:38 I love that you took the street view of the actual park and ride and put it in the video... 😹 I looked at it on Google Maps, and this is my favorite part of the whole park and ride... THE IRONY i.imgur.com/gXb1QGU.jpg
Totally! I wasn’t going to include a picture at all when I was editing. When I decided to do it, I didn’t want to drive back up there just to get one. So yeah, you got me there for using Google Street View. What’s hilarious is the Imgur photo you attached. I backed into that exact space where all that furniture junk in the photo is piled. Your picture is better. 😂
@@11thFret Oh, that's hilarious! I was imagining myself in your shoes and figured you'd parked as close to the front as you could, on the west side, facing east, so you had a straight a shot out of there and in the direction of traffic (eastbound) as you could possibly have. Thankfully, times have changed, and so many police departments have started providing designated "safe Trade" zones...
As one of his older brothers, i thank you such an incredible gesture. Luis Gil Bettencourt
@@11thFret Isn’t that the N4 with serialnumber 901 from Toddzillaguitar on UA-cam instead of yours?
🤜💥🤛
Respect for returning a guitar back to its rightful owner. I love hearing stories like this. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Sometimes ... doing the right thing, is its own reward. Mad respect ... that you got to meet the man.

Wow! That is crazy! I have been a fan of Nuno since 1989 when I was 17 years old. If I had found it I would be so honored to have returned it to him!

That’s very respectful and admirable.
Very cool story!! Glad you gave it back to Nuno. He is one of my favorites! He did rock that guitar out!!
Thanks for watching and commenting. I thought the same thing after I discovered how many photos it was featured in with him.
That guitar has been on some of my favourite records of all time and is a massive part of my youth… I used to spend hours staring at pictures of that thing! Well done you, you’re a stand up guy. That’s a GREAT story.
Thank you so much! I had a lot of fun getting it back home to the man himself. I appreciate you watching and commenting.
Good on you. You are a true gent. It’s stories like this that make me feel hopeful for the future!
Thank you so much for watching and sharing a very sweet compliment. 🤗
Sh*t, almost crying to see your kindness man...
I'm a bigfan of Nuno, and you tell a very great story..
It lost and it's find it's wayback home, and you are it's guardian angel alive..
And yeah Nuno is a cool guy and a very kind person..
Let's give this man some respect Nuno, he saves your history back to your arms again
Be blessed as always Chris (11th Fret)🤟
Thanks Steve! I was just honored to be a part of this guitar’s journey back home. Nuno was ‘extremely’ cool in person (pun semi-intended).
Thanks Leif! I mean, I wouldn’t have turned down a N4 for 4N as a thank you gift. But honestly, yeah. The journey was worth the investment.
sweet man, im sure nuno is super stoked to get his babe back...
Thank you for this act of gratitude and love. Awesome 🤠
Thank you so much for watching and the uplifting comment to follow. I genuinely appreciate that.
Wow, u're so honest, and by that time u're part of nuno's history
Thanks! I try to offset my dishonest lifestyle with random acts of kindness. 😂

Thank you for all your efforts and respect to return such important guitar(body) to Nuno.
The pleasure was sincerely all mine. Thanks for watching!
That is very commendable of you not taking advantage of the situation and doing a good deed. Some guitars have a journey and a story and you played a big part on this guitar's journey. What a great story!
Thanks so much for the compliment. I was (and still am) gleaming that I played a role in this guitar's journey home.
Dude, whatv a great vid. Glad to see more people understanding the sentiment tied to these simple instruments. Good on you Man. 👏
Much appreciated! All I know is how much my heart would ache if I lost something important to me like that. Thanks for watching.
@@11thFret exactly!! Less hot L500, but which makes you to fight it more)
Glad to hear you're living a blessed, interesting life in the midst of chaos. Same here! Really enjoying your show and thanks for this personal touch.
Cool story, Bro. And I do mean that most sincerely. What an awesome, selfless gesture of one's humanity.
Thanks! It was a fun journey to uncover the whole thing just to get it back to the rightful owner.
@@11thFret no worries at all. Super cool video and unreal story. Your brilliant 🎉👏🏻
This was the first and only Paduak made by Stephen Davies before mass produced paduak were made by Washburn. Of course it's a very special guitar to him. The neck was broken during a show and then replaced for a whyle with a maple neck. (The broken neck was sold on eBay by someome that got it in the audience and it was totaly wrecked)
You can find picture of this body with a new neck. This was when Nuno made his firts solo album back in 1998.
After that i have never seen this guitar again... surely because it was stolen back then and taken appart...
What a fantastic story. Well done Kris.
Thanks! 🤗
Great work champ!! U’re a legend.
Oh, what a beautiful anecdote! Nuno is unique...the best! I'm a huge fan, you are very lucky ! 🤘💜
Thanks Gemma! It was definitely an honor for me.
Thank you for sharing ur nice story. It's so amazing. Nuno is my #1 guitar hero, it's so cool to hear very interesing stroy from you! Also it's very nice of you to bring back the body of the guitar to Nuno without asking anything. It's so cool man!!! Cheers!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome! Much respect to you. The Rob Flynn Dimebag guitar has a similar story.
Ooooh! I’ve not heard that story. I’ll have to go look that one up. Thanks for sharing, and for watching!
Cheers
Very cool story. Grew up with many posters of that guitar around my room!
You're the man,
thanks for a wonderful story.
Glad you enjoyed it! I appreciate you stopping by and commenting too!
Class act brother!
and THAT folks is how society should be...... be proud of yourself for that.
Yeah, I’m pretty proud of how this whole story panned out.
The fact this was apparently an important personal item by his own admission and all he did was make a little clip on a phone reflects very poorly on him.
agreed he went out of his way to give it back to him a reaL PERSON WOULD HAVE HANDED HIM A CHECK AT THE DOOR
Nice story! I certainly would have done similar. Hopefully, you're a somewhat bigger fan of his music now. The new album is quite good!
That new album is crazy good! RISE appears on my Apple Music feed regularly now. I’ve listened to their new album quite a bit, actually. Thanks for the watch and the comment!

I have a n4 padauk and love it. This wood has a really different sound than anything else out there. Its heavy though…
Your rebuilt guitar is sitting behind him in the new Rebel music video along with the 901 I sold him.
@@11thFret thats the rumor.
the N1 and N2 are the budget and mid-range models of the "N" line respectively and as such do not have the Stephens neck joint. the N5 has three single coil pups and the N6 has a bridge humbucker and two singles. the N7 is a seven string and the N3 has no Bill Lawrence pup, only 2 washburn branded humbuckers. tho there was a later VERY limited run of N3s (a run of 20 i believe) that had 2 Bill Lawrence humbuckers. thus, by the process of elimination i would say that body was for an N4. which N4 "issue" would be much harder to ascertain with casual observation as there have been many over the last 30 years.
Great work, Sir.
Thanks for sharing..
My pleasure. It was a fun story to recall and share.
I’m still looking for my childhood Westone super strat and Washburn i traded in at GC in 98 and 2000! They were both from the 80’s!

Nuno is from Mass not far from me
Very nice of you to bring it back to him.
But you get the point. ;-)
@@11thFret I know what you mean
From what i know about Nuno seems like a private dude.
Very Well Done

One we haven’t ever seen, the other one was the heavily used and toured one (the one you had) so in a away it was a prototype. But really just a 1 of 2 ever made! I know the guy who has the original broken headstock and part of the neck off this guitar from the show he broke it during.
Woah! I didn’t even know all that. Nuno or his manager didn’t even tell me that. That’s cool your friend has the first broken neck. Nuno did say that the second neck had broken as well before it left his possession.
Great Story!
All kidding aside, that's amazing that he would stop by your music class.
Wow! That’s crazy! Not many of those older ‘92 models turn up. How’s she play?
Wow your a good man!!! Great story
Thanks! Just a disclaimer: I was only a good man this one time though. I’m pretty rotten the rest of the time. 😉
@@11thFret hahahahahaha bullshit your good people..such a great story.
You should’ve challenged him to a duel..that little Portuguese Elvis longhair punk 🐾🐾🐾
As I’m sort-of kidding, UA-cam editing breaks the rules of film editing practices. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thanks for watching and commenting!
It wouldn't be an N2 - those had a standard bolt-on neck. (And a Fender Strat-style heel joint)
Nuno Bettencourt (EXTREME) on Herman Li's Shred Talk
Sweet!
Great story!
Thanks Bjorn! I really appreciate you watching. 👍
Hey Chris what a great story!!!! I hope someday a bit of karma heads your way!!! Most people would have tried to shake him down and your action speak very highly about your character and being an American!!! GBY Chris and Nuno B. and your love ones!!! Dave
Wow Dave! What’s a great compliment. This seriously made my day. Thanks for watching and commenting! Love to you and yours.
I hope he offered you something in return!!
I got a personalized video to my wife and the opportunity to meet the man. That was pretty worthwhile. 🤘🏻
did I miss how it came up missing? I wouldn't hesitate to return the guitar if I found it but I'd ask for a picture and a signed 8x10 in return lol. Dont even care about the $25 either.
Haha. I know the answer, but deliberately didn’t share that detail as I felt it wasn’t my place to do so. That’s why I was vague on that front. But yeah, I was happy with the personal video to my wife for her birthday in exchange for the N4 Padauk’s acquisition. Also just knowing I played an integral part in this guitar’s journey home is cool too. Thanks for watching!
wow...
job well done
Well did you see him during the superbowl halftime?
I won’t touch instruments with bad juju. Only ones with good mojo.
He mentions it here: ua-cam.com/video/WZTVB-lP_Gk/v-deo.html
It's not too far into the video. Worth a watch.
Good video sir,
I am a student from india,
I am a music lover too , i want to learn guitar , but i don't have a guitar, as i can't afford one due to family:s low financial condition. I don't need money just a little guitar named yamaha c40 classic guitar its 90$ i guess . I will be thankful to you my whole life and even will try to return your amount spent, when i will have enough money.🙏trust me.
great story, was it longer than it needed to be? Maybe.
I was just happy to get it home.
...To Nuno and company: If you're reading this, I wouldn't turn away an N4 or Nele if offered. ;-)
💪 𝐩𝓻Ỗ𝓂Ø𝓈M
But thanks for watching anyway and doing your best to fill in some blanks that I had omitted from the video.
looks.like gayyy guy from velvet revolver ....the ymca biker guy
…Thanks… …I guess?
🍻
3:38 I love that you took the street view of the actual park and ride and put it in the video... 😹
I looked at it on Google Maps, and this is my favorite part of the whole park and ride... THE IRONY
