    Thank you for this demo and analysis. This is almost exactly my use case.
    For this price bracket, I'd rather have a stable router with thoughtfully designed firmware (Asus rt-ax58u) than the latest wifi standard (TP-Link axe5400) so long as the latency and image quality are good enough for the Quest 3.

    Your bitrate is 120 Mbps and the max is 200....
    I don't understand though, it seems there are a lot of guides out there that say that you should increase the bitrate to above 200 to get better image quality, some guides saying 800Mbps. So is 120 not very low?

    • @almedinfilms8390
      @almedinfilms8390  11 місяців тому +4

      Hello mate, this is the bitrate about video codec when the GPU render on PC and compress video signal before it comes in VR and after that decompress in VR. So 800 is about data rate transfer so here in this case is trough the router 2401 and max 200 is for video codec. Im glad if I helped you.

      Using virtual desktop AV1 is a supported codec making 120 to 200 maps enough. When using default quest 3, h264/5 is used and that requires around 350mbps even with less quality. Those who go up to 940 mbps are not getting any close to that as the meta uses dynamic bandwidth and will always be less than 400 or latency will go so high.

      @@imad1996 personally in VD I prefer 500 Mbps h264+ vs 200 Mpbs AV1 or H265. Without auto bitrate, of course. Less compression artefacts, but I think colors are a bit worse.

    My current setup is a TP-Link AC-1200 that with WIFI5 standard. My latency ranges from 25-35ms (H.264 bc otherwise latency is between 45-50ms+. But I think a upgrade to WIFI6 would be outdated in a few ages. Probably should go with WIFI6E. Any recomandations? The settings in your video doesn't really make sens. Late to the party here. It depends. I got a wifi 6e router and it helped alot. Why?
      This is because the 6ghz band is not crowded by my neighbours since none of them have 6ghz yet.
      So it really helped boost the quality by a lot.
      I red somewhere that it does not actually transfer more data or anything, it is mainly solves the crowded wifi issue.

    Surprising how good these Broadcom routers are getting. However I always recommend a Qualcomm router for better reception and more firmware features. I stupidly got an AX20 with broadcom but it’s really not bad.

      I dont understand why ac is better than ax. AX routers support 9.6Gbps while AC only supports speeds of 3.5Gbps, not only does Ax support higher speeds but also has lower latency and wider coverage as well as better security

    • @curbthepain
      @curbthepain 7 місяців тому

      @@andyoo2851 Support, stability, consistent signal, and just better overall hardware. Support and stability specifically are the main factors. Broadcom chips are closed source and are provided a minimal level of support. Security patches usually.
      Not to mention the ability to further update your router. But I wont say qualcomm will stay good. Qualcomm as of late, has the odd naming schemes, and have been raking in the dough. Going closed source in the future is definitely a possibility as its probably in their best interest to do so.
      However Mediatek is the best for the best all around support. They dont seem like they’re gonna go closed source any time soon. AX AC and all that stuff is just naming based on speeds. AX is the new standard and AC is the older slower one. Youll find all types of chips across the two standards.

Apparently YT deletes any social media references. Try "disk cord" of VD, there is a list of routers, and those recommendations are given to withstand 500 Mbps, not a measly 200 Mbps. Most of AX5400 routers on Qualcomm processor will do 500 Mbps in VD. And any AX1800 will do 200 like in this video. Only RTX 40 series and RX 8000 series support AV1 encoding which outputs a higher quality than HEVC.
      Additionally, HP G2 uses a direct display port connection which means there is no encoding and therefore compression of the video. Quest 3 does not have a display port connection and therefore you must stream it wirelessly with whatever codec you have available and therefore there will be more artifacts and lower quality.

    Bro, your router is not ultimate as with my Asus wifi 5, I get 3 to 4 of latency at 200mbps virtual desktop. The best router is Asus wifi 6e gaming series, as those models use a fast processor capable of sustaining a constant 200mbps.
    You unable to go to 200mbps is due to your router. My key learning is a fast wifi 5 router with a bandwidth of 844mbps will do better than a wifi 6 not fast. I have one wifi 6 router and am not using it due to this reason.
