    Just bought the Archer AX21. It’s a BEAST! I had absolutely NO black screens or lag from the router. Compared to the usual 39 black screens per-game ratio. From my home router.

    FWIW, I bought the Nighthawk AX3000, and it didn't work great. Admittedly. I got the refurbished Amazon one. It also can't do wireless repeater. Wireless repeater allows your quest to have internet from your main router when connected to your dedicated airlink router. I then bought the Asus and it was much much better, and it can be a wireless repeater. So if you're choosing between the two, I'd recommend Asus.

    I'm using a TP-Link Archer C6 (1200) as access point in my room and had no stutters or so with it. But before it, I had a Huawei AX3 that caused relly bad stuttering. The 1200 works for me (using Air Link) but I don't guarantee, that everyone else will have a flawless experiance like I do.

    Dear reader, if you are, for any reason, hesitant on whether you should use (a cheap) cable or one of these, just get a router. I started with cable (not Oculus, 20-30$), plus pulleys for the ceiling (20$).. And it was definitely not worth it unless you only play sims that don't require turning your body. A great and not so expensive investment, that you can use in your future headsets (plus more security and bandwidth options).

    I am currently using the AC1750 for like 2 years and I have no issues :D ... I guess the same situation as the AX1500, some models work and some just refuse to help :D
    Mine easily gets to 150 Meg when the 5GHz SSID is used Exclusively and I had no issues that would be worth mentioning ... only those classic ones connected with using Wireless like occasional stutter or spike in Latency because hey, it's wireless ... otherwise I would say no issues

    Can you set the Asus router just AX? I have figured out a way to get rid of the stutters in The AX 1500 x21 but it still has terrible over all latency in the high 50s and mid to low 60s, I am seeing in the network area that I am staying in between 7and 3ms along with almost the rest of the setting in the middle there. Game and encoding are a whole different ball game, I put that on the developers, especially those that do not let you control the setting within the game..

    • @cryax3447
      @cryax3447 Рік тому +1

      I belive you can connect the new router (Dedicated for quest 2) with ethernet cable to your PC, and have your old router (Home Router) connected with Wifi to you PC. And then you can create a separate network dedicated for the quest 2 on the new router with no other devices connected.
      Or if you have the option, you can replace your old router with the new one and connect it directly to you PC with a ethernet cable. That is if your router is not too far away from your VR room or you live with multiple people, then I would suggest the option above.

    I used your old video to set up with the ASUS AX1800, works great, but was recently considering redoing it so it's cool that this came out because I had a question.
    Right now the asus is my only router but I plan to make it an access point wired to a new primary router. Would my primary router have to be good at all, or does it not matter? The quest would only be on the access point. Also could I plug my PC into the primary router or would it have to go to the access point?

    • @VirtualPandaVR
      @VirtualPandaVR  2 роки тому +3

      Your home wifi router doesn't matter at all. But whatever router is connected to the PC via ethernet needs to be the same one your Quest connects to for the best results.

  • @cavreality5456

    Whatever you do do NOT get a TP link product for wireless VR streaming. I am having a lot of stuttering with the TP link AX1800/AX21 that after weeks of troubleshooting I have narrowed down the router to being the problem. After diving deep into the troubleshooting process, a lot of these TP link products have the same issue. It is most common with only a couple of models, but with any one of the AX series routers there is a random chance that you will still have stutters no matter how many router settings you change. Some people do not have this issue and some people were able to fix the stutter with changing some settings, but I'm not one of the lucky ones from this group. I have a Netgear wax202 on the way now and it was recommended by the virtual desktop community.

    I swear to god they purposely make finding the right router the most aggravating thing to ever do.... It will say things like "speeds of 2.5gbps" but only in little tiny writing somewhere on the box (and nowhere on the webpages) it will point out that number means for all devices combined.... The one I bought I forget the exact speed it advertised but it maxes out at 100mbps per device, sure you can connect a ton of devices but that is literally 1/5 of my internet speed so it takes 5 times longer than it should to download a PC game. Granted it's my own fault for not researching it enough but it wouldn't kill them to show what kind of max speed you can expect PER DEVICE somewhere in their literature or on the box.

      Yes and no.
      If you're only using 150mbps like in the video, absolutely. Everyone praises the Asus routers. I've personally had good luck with the tplink 1500- 1800- and especially the 3000. 'the 3000 is known to overheat. Turn the signal power to medium solved it for me'
      It's when you have a quest 3 and want 500mbps on h.264+ is when you need to get picky. The tplink 1500 didn't quite make it. The 1800 did, but some stutters. My 3000 is perfect.
