I TOTALLY hear you about having those days when you're not feeling it. That was me today as well. Hopefully, you find time to recharge and that you are all feeling better soon! I just got another jumping spider, and I still can't get over how cute they are. I could watch them hunt all day. Great feeding vid! Man, I HATE dealing with fruit flies. haha Congrats on your new egg sac! :)
As far as separating- they do better if together until i4 but need to be separated then…. What I do is actually instead of keeping them all together… I put them in groups of like 6 to 8… And then separate out as they molt to i4. Makes separating easy as well since they molt at different times. I do feed daily or every other at latest. I also mist daily with a fine mist spray bottle. 🖤 but do what works for you. Love your channel.

I’ve raised so many sacs so far and separate them as soon as they leave it, I have a 75-80% survival rate and even a 95% one at one time when a sac gave me over 120 babies. It’s tedious feeding so many babies separately but worth it if you want that high survival rate.
What fruit fly species do you use to feed the babies first? And is there a better option for pouring fruit flies? And what size portion cups should you use for the babies?
@@ThunderStruck15 I use melangastor fruit flies first, when they molt twice then I switch to hydei. I use 1oz sample cups for my babies. A few tips for anyone interested in this topic : 1) if you clear out the dead fruit flies, the spiderlings tend to have an easier time honing in on the live ones. 2) After you put the fruit flies in, put the "cages" in a well lit area (no direct sun, it'll cook your spiders) -- this usually results in the spiderlings finding the flies faster b) You can also put the cages on top of a white surface (ex: towel), because the sharp contrast between the moving fly and background (the white towel) helps the spiderling notice and attack prey easier.

Hey Kat, I'm a fairly new subscriber but I've been watching your videos for a while. I have arachnophobia, for as long as I can remember. Since I started watching your videos, I've gotten to learn so many things about spiders that have helped ease the anxiety when I do come across spiders. Awesome. I wish I could get one of the babies but I'm on the other side of the country. Only species of jumper we have here is P. californicus. They're are a lot smaller and not as cool looking, they're just gray and white so they camouflage on concrete. They don't seem to have as many of the interesting behaviors that larger species do either, though their hunting is still really cool. Plus I haven't seen one in person in a few years. We have tons of Aphonopelma iodius though, they get massacred trying to cross roads.

I hope u guys feel better... Friday my son came home with a fever and was so pathetically miserable made me so sad. I've been up all night last night monitoring him and giving him his medicine and wiping him down with a cool wet rag. I hate it when kids get sick. They just don't deserve it. I hope I don't get it I'm pregnant and the thought of being that sick scares me. Loved the video like always!

Super random, but I've just been watching all Kat'd videos on and off every couple months since I discovered her! Thought she was at most- .. like 25 tops, she looks so young!!! Very mature and knowledgeable just so young looking... subtly shocked she has a daughter lmao
Kat, you are such an inspiration! And a comforting validation of my own experiences. So real, and so genuine. You make great videos. When it comes to directing friends to a better understanding of spiders, you’re channel is where I most often send them. My experience of them, if I may suggest an analogy, is that they exit the ‘so-called’ womb well before we might as humans. And I might be suggesting something controversial here, but my experience suggests that they feed on each other, and it is much like twin consuming another twin before birth. I could be completely wrong, but this is my interpretations how this nature functions outside our present, perhaps misguided conclusions They become ‘sustenance’ for their descendants. Thats a hard concept for us. Even and especially If only a fraction of our offspring survive.
There was a huge beautiful malr jumper living by one of the gates at work and everytime i would go to that gate i would admire him for so long then he got squished :( he had green fangs and everything so cute
I have 2 l3-l4 since 2 weeks. They are well the first 3 days, but, since 10 days, they don’t eat anymore. What is strange also is that they don’t make any cloth…. Strange, no ?
Feel better Kat! Another really cool video, those little jumping spiders really have personality. " I'm very similar to fruit flies" lmao 😅😅 . You're the best.
I was at a greenhouse today and saw a jumping spider on a sign. It jumped up onto the sign. I'm terrified of spiders but I like your channel. I wanted to catch him and send him to you but I'm sure he has lots to eat in the greenhouse lol
Kat you deserve a break from the Camera....You have a Full plate and I don't envy you...Your daughter, plus all your animals + hubby. It's sweet of you to think of us, out here in YOU TUBE LAND. FEEL BETTER KAT. THANK YOU FOR DOING WHAT YOU DO.
A bit of advice, if you are planning on leaving the sac and babies in that enclosure...I would take out that piece of wood bc when they emerge they might hide in there and be really hard to seperate because they are so tiny. Loved watching the babies!!
Today in school I got to see a jumping spider for the first time in real life and it was a male and a female (I think) and the male was doing a little mating dance. If im correct, they were both bold jumping spiders and it was so cute!
I caught a zebra jumping spider where I live in glasgow. getting some flightless fruit flies for it ( not sure what sex it is). going for a bigger spices once I get my enclosure and substrate. any tips for my?🕷️🕷️
Hii my phidippus johnsoni had her slings born last night, still in the nest of course but when should i move them into deli cups? Momma is still in the nest too
Loved watching this! I hope you feel better! Anddddd I also have a question! My jumping spider has been in its nest for over a week. So I’m pretty sure it’s molting. How long will she stay in there??! I miss her 🤣
Those babies all look like mine! I have a tiny baby named Lupix and they are soo cute! I mainly feed them whatever bugs I find on my window or on any of my 33 houseplants and I put moist substrate at the bottom so they don't dry out and the husks just fertilize the plants I put in there.
i am super scared of spiders to the point that i go into a panic attack when i see them in person but ur videos have really been helping and they really are cute i still think they all want me dead but there cute :)
My little jumping spider is brow and black with I think her dots on her back are going to be either yellow or white not to sure yet because of its size! But it’s because of your videos that I have gotten over my fears of spiders and now have my very own jumping spider and her name is Charlotte! 🕷❤️❤️❤️🥰
Get a taller container for the fruit flies so they can't crawl out as quickly after you pour them out and make a few holes about the size of the flies on the lid. So basically you use it like a salt shaker but for fruit flies lol
Saw a jumping spider at work today and basically spent my whole lunchbreak watching them. Time well spent
Yep
I have these little black and white ones with green, iridescent fangs right outside my house. Each summer, they make little nests under the rocks and I love looking at them.
Thats So Neat!
found one in my backyard last week, spend and hour or something chilling with him hahah

I've been having one them weeks. Picture video help made me feel better they're too cute awesome video ✌️💖😊🕷️
hahah i guess i'm like fruitfly too, i feel pretty sluggish when it's cold. i hate cold and hot temperatures.
fruit fly gang
There was a huge beautiful malr jumper living by one of the gates at work and everytime i would go to that gate i would admire him for so long then he got squished :( he had green fangs and everything so cute
I have 2 l3-l4 since 2 weeks.
They are well the first 3 days, but, since 10 days, they don’t eat anymore.
What is strange also is that they don’t make any cloth….
Strange, no ?
Feel better Kat! Another really cool video, those little jumping spiders really have personality.
" I'm very similar to fruit flies" lmao 😅😅 . You're the best.
The babies are so stinkin CUUUTE!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰
I was at a greenhouse today and saw a jumping spider on a sign. It jumped up onto the sign. I'm terrified of spiders but I like your channel. I wanted to catch him and send him to you but I'm sure he has lots to eat in the greenhouse lol
lol Kat you're the best fruitfly mathematician in the world don't discount yourself. hope everyones feeling better 💙
Hi kat you are the best and the greatest keep it up Hope one day to meet you and see All of your amazing tarantula species 💯💪👍💪💪👍💯
I caught a zebra jumping spider where I live in glasgow. getting some flightless fruit flies for it ( not sure what sex it is). going for a bigger spices once I get my enclosure and substrate. any tips for my?🕷️🕷️
Loved the vid Kat hope you're feelin ok now ...
You can put breathable medical tape over the holes in the Tarantula Cribs to keep the slings in
Omg I'm so jealous!!! I want one of these beauties sooooo bad!!
Love the feeding videos !!! Hello from NYCITY
I mainly feed them whatever bugs I find on my window or on any of my 33 houseplants and I put moist substrate at the bottom so they don't dry out and the husks just fertilize the plants I put in there.
if you offer them your fingernail and put it like a ramp, they generally climb on if you move slowly.
@tarantula kat you've gotten great at separating slings. Also you make me want to get a spider tattoo xD
i am super scared of spiders to the point that i go into a panic attack when i see them in person but ur videos have really been helping and they really are cute i still think they all want me dead but there cute :)
My little jumping spider is brow and black with I think her dots on her back are going to be either yellow or white not to sure yet because of its size! But it’s because of your videos that I have gotten over my fears of spiders and now have my very own jumping spider and her name is Charlotte! 🕷❤️❤️❤️🥰
Hello great video feeding and update Kat
Get a taller container for the fruit flies so they can't crawl out as quickly after you pour them out and make a few holes about the size of the flies on the lid. So basically you use it like a salt shaker but for fruit flies lol
Soon as I get an enclosure for my Gray wall jumper she died. So sad about that not sure if I should get another feel too bad...😞
Yup, our littles definitely love to share colds, LOL
