For anyone who is wondering... because the jumping spiders are already adults when they come to kat, they are not used to being picked up. My experience is that the younger they are and you spend a lot of time with them, the calmer they become. I find some of them here to be a bit too thick and it's dangerous for them if they jump and fall far. My first spider injured its abdomen once but luckily survived. But that's not always the case...
Absolutely love the way you greet new arrivals into your family!!! Especially jumpers because they of course have the eyes and faces of little critters that seem to respond perfectly to your welcome!! 🥺 (like that but with the frown upside-down!) Edit: okay well seems some of these were more "hyper-excited lil puppies" than "slow and curious puppy dog eyes"
So many things to like about this video. Your black Santa hat, the coloration on some of your new ones (literally whispered to myself “so beautiful” at the tarantula 😂), and the glimpse into how they decorate their enclosures once they’re comfy. Christmas background music to spiders chilling out was a definite bonus.
Audax are one of my absolute favorite jumpers, they tend to keep VERY well ironically in open space. When they disappear they are usually adults and either went to find nesting/a mate or simply wandered off into the sunset so to speak. They are bold, and so amazing.
You and the novel Children of Time have completely changed my relationship with spiders this year - I’m buying a P. Audax TODAY and I’m so thrilled! I never could’ve fathomed this a year ago lol Ps, I’m making it’s enclosure sci-fi horror themed!!!
Best care guide I found on the seladonia is definitely dave's little beasties "The T. seladonia tarantula does not love to display and hides behind its trapdoor most of the time. If you are looking for a tarantula as a display animal, this one might not be a great choice due to its hiding manners"
Just what empiretarantulas & what have personal experience seen and read, ain't got multiple specimen but mine only goes out when rehouse, search for water or if disturbed enough, seen some out all the time trying to hide, if it got it's trap door should be all good! 😊👍
Happy Holidays! I just wanted to let you know that you're awesome. Simply awesomeness. My six year old and I happened upon your videos and we love watching. Elaynes eyes light up with spiders. We love the rehousing and feeding. Mostly that you have so much love in your heart for spider care and other cute creatures. Thank you for all that you do!
Hello all you spider lovers out there! Greetings from Germany! My whole family is scared of spiders and so was I until a few month ago. Since they don't want to hear about spiders I am just going to write a comment here. Like I said, I was super scared of spiders. So scared that at some point I froze in fear while I tried to catch a 3 cm big (german, harmless) spider. And that was the point when I decided that I don't want this fear to take over. So I watched youtube videos about spiders. I started to catch all the spiders in my appartement myself (and believe me, I struggled a lot in the beginning) But here I am! Watching videos about tarantulas and I start to like them! They look amazing! So thanks for all the videos! And to all you spider lovers out there: I finally understand! =)
OMGODDESS, they're all soooo adorable!!! But the coloring and markings on the P. Arizonensis is really different and pretty! I love how the first one made it's home in the walnut, they don't seem to do so often. Hope y'all had a wonderful Christmas!! 💜🕷💛
Merry Christmas Kat! To you and your family! Just wanted to say I look forward to your uploads. I have a very real fear of spiders for a very traumatizing reason but after coming across your videos I now see the beauty in them. Haven’t braved holding one yet but I hope I can if the chance presents itself!! Thank you for easing the minds of so many like me and for your very sweet personality!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
Tom Patterson is truly the best, i just received an order of Tarantulas from him this past week. He threw in a gift for me i was looking for a really long time, and truly made my whole year. Very beautiful unboxing video Kat!
I really enjoyed this video today, July 14th 2023...it's Christmas in July!! Your videos have really helped me overcome my fears of jumping spiders. I actually look closely and talk to the jumping spiders in our yard. I've learned that I don't have to kill every thing I don't understand.
So like Jumping spiders are the cutest things out there, I can't deal with my countries bigger spiders but i've always had a soft spot for jumping species, they are just tiny little packages! But also...that Tarantula's colours so pretty! all of them are such pretty little spiders!
Beautiful spoods. Looks like the first audax girl you housed ended up being gravid and your second audax girl looks like a bryantae variant that had the same exact coloration of one of my favorite audax boys. Sadly, I lost him unexpectedly a few weeks ago. Congratulations on your new spoods and your future audax babies. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
I wouldn't say playing with death, but rather playing with super duper cuteness! I really want a tarantula but am doing my research first to see which one would be the best first for me. And now you have made me want a jumping spider or two as well. Thanks Kat! LOL.
@@daiyzanth oh, its great to know! also if you dont already, you should watch exotics lair! he also has a video suggesting good starters, and you can learn a lot there! :)
I love Phiddipus audax! I've kept two before, one of which is still alive. They are much more skiddish than other Phiddipus species, but they're equally fun. I caught both of mine in my house as juveniles.
I am about to get a jumping spider. Your channel is way cool. I absolutely love your dog. I am cracking up over her pulling at your hat. Made my day. 😊
Happy Holidays to you and all your pets. Looking forward to your content in 2023. Just love how gentle you are with all of them!! Continue your greatness Kat!!
i got my first two ts recently. After watching ur videos i was able to upgrade their enclosures using ur tips. It was so easy and i never felt so accomplished!!! Thank you sm for showing us an entirely new world!! YOUR THE BESTEST!!!!
i just got a male and a female phiddipus regius spider and they live in the same HUGE enclosure but they didnt make webs yet even tho i have had them for four days now, in their cups which we bought them in they did make webs. They do seem happy and energetic tho. They havent eaten eachother but they have done the deed so im pretty sure we will have baby jumpers.
These videos have legit helped decrease the intensity of my aracnaphobia. I entered a crawlspace in my house today without anxiety when notmally the mere thought would have me frantically inspecting for spiders first. But I was able to do it with no inspection and no anxiety! :D
T Seladonia has to be the most beautiful spider on the planet. I'm always stunned at how gorgeous they are - this one looks pretty big compared to others I've seen too; will she grow any more?
I ues organic soils in my enclosures and sometimes I get soil flys or nats. For some reason there is always tons of jumping spiders in my windows, I will catch one which isn't easy they are 10times smaller. I will stick them in my enclosures and they go ham on the nats. The siders always have plenty of chances of leaving I own Pac-Man frogs and they legit do not ever try to leave their nice warm enclosures, so I do leave doors open at feeding and bath time. The spiders will come and go as pleased.
I think Jingle is a perfect name, but both are fun. Jingle the Brazilian Jewel...Jingle the Jewel...idk...both are great. Thanks for an awesome video Kat. Love watching ya. Have an awesome week!
You look freaking awesome and beautiful :> Good work with the new babies. You take so much care and time for your pets, and have great ideas for theire enclosures.
i LIVE for the last one. the teeny face! your videos cured my arachnophobia! i was so terrified before. now, im a jumping spider lover and keeper. ❤❤ i plan to get a Gramastola Pulchra soon, too. And then maybe a Velvet spider if i can find one ❤❤❤❤ thanks for the mood boost to my very shitty day, and merry xmas 🎄🎄🎄
New sub here. I adore your channel. My hubby does as well. We want to start collecting spiders. I have had hermit crabs of all species. And several other pets, such as dozens of tropical frogs. just adore your various spiders. You’ve got me excited!! Lol. Happy Christmas!
I have SEVERE arachnidphobia. I also don't like killing insects and arachnids in my home. You tought me that I can use a paintbrush and container to safely put them outside. UA-cam is a wondrous place! Thank you so much Kat! They say we're only afraid of these little critters because we feel we have to kill them while also knowing they're harmless. And that's usually my nature, but every life has a purpose. I understand that now!
Feeding video idea: take a few teaspoons of honey into a half glass warm water, let it cool to room temp. Get some watercolor paintbrushes or QTips, and dab into the softened honey. Slowly bring tip closer to spooder. Tease tip across spooder's view field, and see them jump and latch on.
Been loving the exposure of your jumping spiders 🥰 we have a few living in the indoor plants that I’ve left alone thanks to your videos 😂❤❤ I spotted some babies the other day - will be leaving them too ❤
Hey Kat! Not sure if you're looking for names but the little brown P. audax looks like a Pudding and the darker P. audax looks like an Oreo! I'm partial to the P. audax jumping spider species because I've had two!
OMG this is such a cutness overload vid i love everything you showd these inclosures are amazing for the jumping cuties and the Seladonia humm adore it.. Oh and rocking the black & white christmas theme girl. My husband thinks i'm a little weird for loving jumping spiders at 56 but meh i don't care ...love your channel plus your the only one i know that has these colorful cuties here in Canada the adult are the size of your slings maybe smaller .. thanks for the vid
I had jumping spiders in my house too. But the one I loved was on my outside trash can lid. She jumped right on my hand and was so adorable and inquisitive. Wish I’d kept her. 😒
Hey Kat, hope you’re doing well. Awe, I just adore your jumping spiders. They’re so cute 🥰 These enclosures are the dog’s doodahhs They look so professional Like, an interior designer would do this too 💚💕😊xxx
I forgot to ask - should I name the T seladonia Twinkles or Jingle?
Twinkles 😊😊
Jingle!! 🔔🔔
Twinkles sounds super cute, remindes me of Toph calling Avatar Aang Twinkle-Toes
Jingle
Jingle!!!!!

You guessed it.
Lil jumping spider faces round Xmastime !
happy hollydaze! they're all so gorgeous! i adore how curious the jumpers always are, i just wish they had tarantula lifespans to match :)

Really? I find mine to be quite active leaning their trapdoors often. Very similar to jumping spiders for me! Goes to show how diverse care can be.

I kept a phiddipus audax! She was wild caught but she was a gorgeous, intelligent girl
The markings on that last spider were amazing.
Jeez. You are so lucky. I hope they all live long and healthy. I grew up playing with Jumpers back in the 70's and 80's.
Don't let the podcast die. I have enjoyed the few episodes and would listen to more.

I have to agree with you jumping spiders are so adorably cute. I saw some wild jumping spiders outside my home all webbed up.
