I just wanted to say that I've always hated spiders but I started watching your videos in the last couple of months. I got my first jumping spider 5 weeks ago and now I own three and I love them so much!!

One suggestion. I learned this from another UA-camr who breeds tarantulas. When punching the holes in the small cups... Use a needle and punch from the inside out so they don't actually get hurt on the plastic.

It looked like one of the babies early in the process toted along his/her fruit fly snack to the new house. That spider will go far.
I had a tiny baby jumping spider this size crawl on my arm during a pet-sitting visit and took him home. I hope he makes it since they're so vulnerable when they're young. ❤ He's molted once and has tiny little white bits on his body. Also, since he's so small, I don't actually know if he's a he, but there's just something satisfying with 'he's just a little guy. ' Ya know?
That would literally take me all day. The last T I Rehoused took me a whole hour!!!

I also use the deli cups lids down, the jumpers always go up and web. So keeping it upside down avoids them nesting in the cap.

I have a regal jumping spider and a bold jumping spider that both laid egg sacks about 2 weeks ago now. No babies yet. I've seen so many different ways online of what to do and what not to do, so it's hard to know the best way when everywhere you look says something different. I just want the babies to come already though! I'll give it my best shot raising them. Plus, my regal is super friendly and I've missed interacting with her since she's been protecting the eggsack 😭😭😭 I miss her. Lol

While I was watching this video I couldn't help but think of all the big yellow and black garden spiders that come out in the fall and make their egg sacks. The sacks stay faithfully where the spiders leave them, all throughout the cold winter, until one day in spring you notice the sacks are empty. And you don't see anything until the fall when all the big yellow and black spiders come out again spinning webs and laying egg sacks. BTW, I name them all Esmerelda. The circle of life...

Question: How many cups did you poke holes in? You guessed 20-30 Jumping spiderlings, so did you poke 30? Having 28 is an amazing guess, you are psychic.
Was 28 more or fewer than you were expecting? Glad you were able to breed them! Jumpers are so cute
From all my experiences with jumpers, you will continue to get losses from here. I've done seperating early and late and still lose a ton. I've also had 2 mothers bred from same Male, have 2 vastly different survival rates from their sacs. Im pretty sure this is why jumpers lay multiple sacs every year.
The low survival rate of the babies makes sense if they are born in the wild. Due to starving or being eaten by predators, etc. But shouldn't their survival rate therefore be much higher in captivity?
@@Oozaru85 There are many many other factors that would influence the outcome. Probably many we don't even realize. You get a better rate in captivity but I've found the jumpers just seem to have a high rate always. My tarantulas are not the same way.
So I just turned their little house upside down and as they went to the top I grabbed them... took a few days lol but I had so many and their mom was my first exotic pet EVER. Gravid female from eBay lol I learned real quick

I can't wait for my baby Jumper to molt. I found it and kept it but it is all black with red legs and not really much hair yet. No markings or anything. It's been eating great and now stopped so hopefully it's just getting ready to molt.

I think the main argument against splitting them is that now you have to feed and water each and everyone of them separately.
