The info you expalined bout the Tazer helped me so much! Long story short I bought my JT in AUG 2024 and I did not know until I took it to the dealership that someone prior to me put the Tazer system in. and it messed w/ my radio. ( it always displayed temp in Celcius instead of Farinheight and could not change it no matter what, it drove me nuts. At first the dealership changed the radio for a new one, that did not fix it. 3 months go by jeep dealership doesn't know how to fix this. they thought it was the BCM (body control modual) so in the 3 months, the AUX battery died, I replaced it, and SOME HOW the radio is displaying the correct temp. and NO before you could not just goto settings and change it from Celcius to Farinheight that did not work.
Thanks for posting! The hood plunger method worked for me and I don't mind the small "A" on the dash above the fuel gauge. Such a pleasure to have the feature completely bypass without purchasing any additional hardware. Also I'm able to still use my remote start too
Thank you so much!!! I just bought a new used 2023 gladiator with only 4,000 miles on it and there’s no book. You just showed me how to turn off auto start / Stop. 🛑 I didn’t even know that’s what it was called. Appreciate it!
The only thing I would add to the video is to either secure the box of the stop/start eliminator with a zip strap, or to wrap it with some kind of foam or electrical tape. It looks like it would rattle against that support piece. And I hate rattles
Have a 2020 Glad, If you don't reset the oil change timer and just keep the provided window sticker from say Jiffy Lube. it deactivates the stop and start. Funny thing is the dealer sends me the time to change oil anyway since they keep track of my milage remotely.which surprised me they can do that?
I Live in the dessert and let me tell you sitting at a light and the engine goes off and since all the components for the Air-conditioner are NOT electric you only get hot air blowing. So, I have disabled the star-stop feature.
I just purchased a 2023 Willys with the 3.6 and the auto start stop has not came on at all. Has mine already been turned off? I am afraid to turn it on . I don't want any problems. Also, will the aux battery still wear out if the feature remains off?
I don’t own a Rubicon, but I do have a Jeep Cherokee Latitude and that auto start on off has been nothing but a headache! I believe that theory that the feature drains the extra battery, but now I’m also starting to believe that it puts a strain on the starter. My warranty just expired 1,000 miles ago and guess what?? I have to replace that extra battery PLUS the starter, and it’s not cheap!! 😡 I’m just going to turn it off on the dashboard from here on out
Many are just disconnecting the aux battery ground cable that connects to the main battery negative terminal and just tape it up out of the way and removing fuse #43, This will disable the start / stop system and there will be no error codes or lights on the dash, Of course this isn't a practical solution if you still want functionality at some point of the start / stop system.
This is incorrect.... (btw, it's fuse #42, not 43...the description in the fuse box calls this F42- PCR CTRL FEED (ESS)* - If Equipped. On mine F43 is the PWR Outlet Cargo -BATT) You've described "deleting the Aux battery" (disconnecting the ground), and "bypassing the ESS" (auto start stop, removing the fuse). This just makes it so the Auto Stop/Start doesn't check the Aux battery, but instead just uses the main battery. It does NOT disable Stop/Start. The Aux battery doesn't actually even control the Start/Stop - it just keeps the accessories like AC /Radio / lights from cutting off when the engine turns off. It doesn't restart the Jeep. So, bypassing it just keeps the system from first checking the aux (which usually has the problem), and just uses the main battery. You are right about the lights or codes, the Avengers light won't be on the dash anymore, but unless you push the "A" button on the console to turn the Auto Stop/Start OFF, it will still work unless you disable it using one of these methods. Hope this helps.
Fyi not all auto start stops have a second battery. Ours is a rubicon 2021 with auto start and main battery shorted. Went to oreillys and bought both batteries pulled main one out followed a UA-cam video were the second battery was torn it apart supported to be under the fuse panel and there was a compartment but no second battery. Called dealer parts department and using the vin there was no second battery on my rubicon ever installed at the factory. No extra cables for it either. Saved me 100.00 bucks
I just pulled the fuse and removed the battery cable from the main battery and my dash light indicator is still on! The auto start stop isn’t working anymore but shouldn’t the error light go away? I have a 2019 Rubicon. 🤷♀️
Pushing the button just turns it off when driving & it doesn't help the issue , which is the small bat. Draining and your remote start not working so eliminating it is the way to go !!! Won't have to worry about the small bat. And remote start will continue to work .. also the seat belt thing does work .I personally like Jscan better not only cause it's way cheaper but I find it does about everything tazer does but I believe tazer might have one or two brand specific things it does. All in it cost me less than 80 bucks to use Jscan & I can buy more vins where tazer is vehicle specific. Oh if you read the comments ( i hope so ) in your description you have the tazer link in for both tazer & Jscan not Jscan's link lol
I've heard of pulling the fuze (number 42?) and disconnecting the little battery, which disables the start/stop without dash warning lights. I haven't tried it.
i think just turning it off will not solve the problem long term, I always turned mine off by the switch, it was muscle memory, and three years in aux battery dead. I love that little add on but long term I dont think its going to work. Plus, just not sure about leaving a dead LI battery in the vehicle, those things get unstable over time
Just got this on dash screen Stop/Start battery charging ! Should I put my battery charger on the Auxiliary battery? And will it take my main battery also ? Any help would be appreciated ! Thanks !
I added 1.5" leveling pucks to the front. It seems the gladiator thinks I'm now on an uneven surface and refuses to use auto stop/start. AND no annoying lights!
Jscan does not cost this much. My whole setup was 50 bucks tops. License is what 20 maybe? Much cheaper than that tazer garbage, and you don't have to leave it plugged in. It's a superior method, basically what a dealer would do hooking up their gear and making changes to the on board systems that last.
2023 Wrangler Rubicon, I believe there must be a sequence that activates the feature… (I haven’t figured it out yet) as I Normally enter my Jeep, start & drive off, Auto start/stop seldom activates…. My jeep mostly never has the feature activated… I don’t know why, but I’m glad something may not be working properly ;)
No the main battery only starts the Jeep. Tha aux battery is used to assist the main in running accessories while the engine is off in a stop/start situation.
I don’t know why they put the stop start in cars. It kills your starter and is bad for the engine when you stop all the oil flows to the bottom of the engine and then when the car starts again oil is introduced back to the top of the engine. This will definitely wear out your engine faster instead of letting the oil circulate without interruption.
I do. It's called Democrats. They, with their green energy bull, cause huge problems for people who want normal operating cars that don't want things choked down or so convoluted they don't last.
I don't know but I never met anyone who wanted that "feature". The jeep was at its best 10 years ago before all the "smart" stuff was forced onto consumers. Half the price too.
@@MaybeOhBaby I wish I could provide you with a 100% answer but, you’d have to have it diagnosed to know for sure what the cause is. I've owned many Fords. The Mojave is My first Jeep. Never had this issue with my Fords. Granted none of them have this feature. I don't think it's a manufacturer problem. I think it's a design flaw, or maybe they government wants to sell more batteries?🤔
Really? I’m now getting the auto start error on my dash which I assume means that my aux battery is dying….again!! I have 34k miles and have already replaced both batteries once on my 2019. I want a permanent fix that won’t drain the main battery! 🫤
Just remove the stupid damned battery for the start/stop, tape of the hot (really well) and jumper the N1 and N2 posts up at the (by) the fuse box, the fuse block, done! Stupid worthless feature. Just look this up: Jeep 3.6L Aux Battery Bypass
Excellent… connecting N1 N2 post was the charm.. Delete red fuse that control start stop… and disconnect/ remove the aux battery tape up negative and finally connect the positive of aux to the main battery…. Job done for my 2020 JT gladiator
I don't own an 'auto start stop' vehicle, but I had a thought about the (VERY STUPID) idea with the seatbelt. Im not sure of the sensing method for seatbelt connection, but if it completes an electrical circuit, you could try painting the metal insert with a non-conductive coating. (It seems unlikely though, as I doubt there is a conductor running through the actual belt, but that would be the best design to make it more difficult for people to bypass. Just a thought(VERY STUPID, lol)... Can, or do, people buy seatbelt inserts, so they can fool the car into believing the belt is connected?
