- Welcome to this Unlock Flexibility: Post-Run Yoga Stretch Practice. Taking the time to stretch after a run is incredibly important for your body. You will unlock your flexibility as most runners skip the post-run cooldown stretch.
Build a strong body with yoga, learn to control, strengthen and master your body.
As runners we neglect strength work. Let's be proactive which will help us run better, run for longer and run injury free. Work on your strength and spend more time running than you do injured, it's that simple.
It's important to remember... PRACTICE NOT PERFECTION! Don't follow me and try to perform the 'perfect' pose or move, listen to your body and discover how it feels for you, Don't force it!

Just did my long run ever (24km) and this was the perfect cooldown!

I’m 65 and just started a walk run program… I have been experiencing tightness in my psoas and I hope these stretches will continue to help me.. I loved this post workout stretch so much!

Great video mate - really loving this channel. Started running again and this is really helping my body recover. I’m 6ft4 and 225 lbs so the muscles and ligaments take a pounding with every outing, but your videos really make me feel better. Keep doing what you’re doing!

I had 19k to do today, the last half being against the full force of Storm Kathleen. I got home feeling much stiffer than usual so this was perfect. Thanks, Ash!
I’m totally with you Delia! I did a stormy run in North Yorkshire Dales and got back a couple of hours ago. That wind was brutal wasn’t it!!! Well done on getting out and doing 19k in it 🙌🏻 and then recovering properly after it 😊

Dear Ash, thank you for this video. I have been running for 7 years now and held a podium a couple of times. Due to my protruding bunions and overpronation, I am prone to injuries. I have opted for a slow cooking method to build endurance and remain injury-free. Yoga tailored to running has been very useful to that journey. I am glad to find your channel and it has become my go-to when I am training alone. Keep posting and we will keep practicing and cheering for you.

First timer on your videos today. Just done my first run of 2024 on my journey to a half marathon in September...and needed a stretch afterwards. I always speed through my post-run stretches, and I don't do yoga enough anymore. Definitely going to be doing more of this!
We all speed through our stretching, it's very common for runners to do that. That's why I'm here, to hopefully encourage you to enjoy your recovery and look after your body so that it is in good condition for your next run. thank you!! I love dynamic stretches - you can feel how much they help. I love yoga and running both and sometimes I hesitate to run for fear of getting too stiff. I feel much more comfortable in my body post run after following along your video.
You're so welcome! I know exactly how you feel, if you can see them both as part of your movement vocabulary. The bigger the vocabulary the better. The healthier your body is if it can do multiple things rather than just specialising in one movement routine. Do both 😀

I am very inflexible, however decided to start the couch to 5k eight weeks ago. I found that my hips and ankles were a little bit sore even though I did light stretches and a good warm up routine before running and ensured I did a good cool down followed by some basic stretching. However I honestly have found this video to be really helpful, I can’t do all of your stretches but the hip stretches at the end are really helping me!!
Great job on the running journey you've started. As I say in my videos don't judge your body against my body, I'm a guide to help. Do what you can and listen to your body.
