Diesel vs Petrol Race Car Comparison - Which Is Better? TFSI vs TDI
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 кві 2023
- Whilst racing with @DarksideDevelopments last year one of their TFSI TT Cup's engine let go at Silverstone. Being diesel experts they did the only logical thing and replaced it with a CUAA 2.0TDI engine. But which is better? Diesel or Petrol?
The diesel car is still in development and this was the first time it went on track, but for one reason or another I posted the same lap time in both cars. Crazy, right? It certainly shows the new car has some pace in its pocket.

The standard of driving at Donnington is shocking, way worse than other tracks.
I only know that Le Mans for example made special rules to disadvantage diesel cars, after they dominated a few years. The comparison of diesel and petrol racing cars, should not be who does the best over one round, but a whole race.
Would you believe that when the Donington circuit was proposed all the local NIMBYs were up in arms because of 'the noise' conveniently forgetting that the East Midland Airport was right next door! Prats!
Annoying
it's fucking amazing seeing you and this channel go from strength to strength , chuffed to bits for the sponsors too !!!!!!
Both engines with equal power. The petrol has a top speed advantage, but the diesel is faster exiting tight corners, because of it's torque. On endurance races the diesel also has a consumption and wear advantage, because the engine revs deeper.
I liked the diesel one but I feel bad for the bird stuck in it somewhere.
Danny! Busy man. So great to see your skyrocketing success over the past couple years bro. Gives me hope that I can realistically get myself out on the track as well. Much more success to ya brother.
cars are looking sick in the advan themes!!!
it sounds like dolphin boy from sealab 2021 when it surges. what a relatable thing to comment
Thats some good content B^)
Two class looking cars
I get so confused when i see the thumbnail if its a darkside video or yours. Enjoy them all either way 😂😂
Cracking video. Both looked a bit nervous on heavy braking. Just the way the TTs are or something to be dialled out?
It’s something that’s dialled in to help corner entry, but does make them a bit unstable on the brakes
LADvan's for days!
Do you prefer racing with dsg and two pedals (assuming all working well) or manual? assume you left foot brake all the time with DSG?
Question for yall, How do you prevent the tdi from rolling coal with the extra power added?
Red flags? At Donington? Surely not 😂
What tyres do they run? squeal like fook
A052, noisy but grippy
What power they are?
Diesel about 270
Petrol about 340
Why did the dash not light up amber or red ? 🤷🏻♂️
When ?
@@dannyDC2 I'm guessing when the coolant temp skyrocketed but it looked like it lit up to me 🤷🏼♂️
I always say that stoc Diesel Car is Sportier than stoc Gasoline Car because gas engines are overheating, this being their main problem all their life.
Saw the 2 hour race ...you had some mad pace Dan! Pity about the break down tho :(
Thanks for that spoiler 😂
@@jordanc07 🤐
I can't decide which noise annoys me more, the turbo from the diesel or the farting dsg🤔
Do you know what digital dash they're using?
I think its EcuMaster
You prefer the farts or the choo choos?
This man and TTs...
Gotta love tts man
We all love tts
Is Donnington always a red flag festival
The TFSI engine is undoubtedly superior when it comes to high-revving performance and instant throttle response.
If you prioritize fuel efficiency and torque, the TDI engine might be the better option for you.
Petrol race cars have a clear advantage when it comes to horsepower and top speed.
I don’t think that’s true
We will see when both are equal!
Just take a v6 tdi against the 2.0 tfsi, both equal horsepower u will see that the diesel will win in a endurance race
