Holy Cow! They are excellent and they look so handsome in their three piece suits. It's too bad that we don't dress up like everyone did, back in the day.
Speak for yourself. In my church, people do still dress up. I love to wear dresses and jewelry. Almost all of the men in my church wear suits with ties 👔 and almost all of the women wear dresses. Some of the women in my church never wear pants.
@@lynettepalecek3141 Excuse me? I am talking about the majority of the people from childhood to adults dressing up besides for church. Everyone would dress up in semi-dress clothes, every day after dinner. Men and boys would wear white shirts and dress trousers, women and girls would wear nice casual dresses then they would sit on the porch, go for walks, or go visiting. Everyone dresses for church, that is a given. Back in the day everyone would be dressed whenever they went shopping, to the doctors, or even down to the bank. Lottalox It's great to be able to see how Fayard perfected the Brothers signature style by 1932, complete with nuances, the freezes, slight slowing down and speeding up, etc. And that style was not deviated from for decades. Pretty impressive.
People don't realize the grinding, obsessive work behind a performance like that, in which every little twitch of the eyebrow has been perfected. I hope they were the ones that were obsessed, and not some domineering parent ... !
Oh, those good old days when black music was beautiful, wholesome and the dancing superb. To think that these early pioneers could do all this in a hostile environment of those years is quite remarkable.

Watching in 2019 with a huge appreciation of true artistry and talent! Smiling in 2019 & forever 😍
Must confess that I smiled too, thought it would be some kind of an outdated show, but their talent is timeless
The Nicolas brothers had the kind of talent and determination that is a rarefind in todays world.

Yeeeees!
@@aliceshaw8265 they processed their hair to b more appealing.
Watching in 2219.
I seen a lot of home movies and photos from my great grandparents showing how it was back in their day. Now a days the majority of the people dress like bums.. This just don't care anymore, and that is sad.
@@mochatech121 Their mother put it in their contracts that they had to dress as true gentlemen in every performance 🙂
The amazing thing is from what I understand they were largely self-taught. Fayard the older brother watched other dancers and practiced their moves and then in turn taught the younger brother Harold. Absolutely amazing.
That was pure talent! Gorgeous voices.
So sweet I love this song one of my favorite video of all time. How are you Michelle Bender ?
Hard to believe that was from 1936. The film quality was incredible.
It was actually 1932.
@@susankennedy5739 No. This particular clip was 1936.
@@lscarver5 Say it louder for the people in the back. Hear that Michael Jackson estate?
@@lscarver5 Is it really? Fayard was from 1914 and Harold 1921, which then means they were 22 and 15 in this clip.
@@9mrjacob this particular musical number was from a Warner Brothers Vitaphone short titled "The Black Network". If you're doubting the year of the film feel free to look it up on IMDb.
Their performance in the masterful "Stormy Weather" was brilliant, unrivaled, & electrifying!!
This is fantastic. I LOVE the music from this Era. The dancing, the clothes. Dapper Dan's. This was talent .
And true style, no nose rings or tattoos or torn clothing. Impeccable.😀
Stunning talent, almost 90 years have passed and they’re still the best.
Like a white guy, i can say that *is a Bless for the Culture the art from Afroamericans* .. without them, the whole planet could be very very sad and boring.. thank for blues, jazz, various dance styles, Soul, Funk, disco, rap, house..
Totally agree with you!!!
I've never seen so much talent in my life, I only discovered them today!!!
Sweet!
And ROCK & ROLL!!
We CREATED that too!!!
Glad you put house. Always feel as this major contribution is overlooked
African Americans are the geniuses of American music.
The Nicholas Brothers what great dancers. They could dance, sing and act. What amazing talent. You just cannot take your eyes off them. They were tops. Are they on the walk of fame. If not they shoild be because they great and never to be forgotten. A M A Z I NG.
What a blessing to have this preserved in such quality for posterity. So cool
This is beautiful ❤
Love love love ❤️ they were phenomenal as kids and as adults 🔥
they are so young here they definitely have the gift
CaringHeart Listen to their interviews.... Fayard developed the Nicholas Brothers style and timing... but very early on, not a gift, through hard work... the gift would be the super, ultra sharp and fine result, I would say.
@@douglassharpe55talent like this is in the blood. frfr And I'm sure they were hardworkers. That's another part of the gift😁🤗
Not too young actually. They are 22 and 15 in this, the both were late bloomers I think
@@CTS1661 I am convinced that this was filmed earlier than 1936. It looks about 1932 or 33.
@@layde1 Umm... this clip is from a Warner Brothers short movie called "The Black Network" 1936
These boys were so smooth. They were extremely talented. Every video I see of the Nicolas Brothers it just looks so effortless for them.
Man oh man. Just great.
Man, I LOVE my Black people! Watching this brought such a smile to my face and my heart! There’s nothing better than watching old movies with Black artists of that time. The triumphant spirit of my people shone brightly even in those days! What a joy to see!!! 💕💕💕💕
I hope they made lots of money and invested wisely and didn’t get ripped off.
Layla20
White people appreciate this great talent also. I hope they were treated well!
@@bigbern6366
You know better than that.Artist are still being ripped off.
lol, I'm not black, and I love this.....such inspirational talent!
@@donaldsims6592 The thing is everyone has ripped off something one way or another alot of what we call black Blues music was influenced by White Hawaiian Blues players in fact if I was to tell you Blues music was made by a White Woman and a Hawaiian you might laugh but Helen Louise made what we call blues music back in 1916 7 years before Blind Blake made his music back in 1923 who is credited to be the originator of Blues music
That just made my day. I really appreciate nostalgic movies.
Absolutely God Given to us!!!
And I really appreciate handsome men. What a fox you are Chuck.
Same
I smiled the whole time!! The younger brother reminds me of Michael Jackson in his youth.
Well they did train the Jackson family
The younger brother played in the five heartbeat he's the older guy that was trying to teach them some moves he was tap dancing 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
U hit it right......young people w/ this vision & talent can't contain this type of energy.....they have 2 let it out.....Amazing!!!(The Berry Brothers too) No matter what is going on in life!!!
noga robertson Haha yup 😂
He studied with the Nicholas Brothers, but in truth as good as Michael was, as a dancer he was no Harold Nicholas.
Now that's classy! Real smooth.
Plain and simple the Nicholas Brothers had a God Given Talent, on all levels.
Amen to that!!
Never heard them sing before.Seen them dancing many times Absolutely AMAZING
Love the look of sheer joy on their faces! This is great entertainment….why’s the world gone to the gutter?!
Hi Brenda
So sweet I love this song one of my favorite video of all time. How are you Brenda Jones ?
You're literally watching this clip in "this world" for free, that doesn't sound too bad.
Thanks to video we can still enjoy the stunning, amazing talents and skills of the Nicholas Brothers!
So smooth, so polished, and they were just kids then. I glad someone had the sense to save this film. Thank you so much.
Someone taught them well. Must’ve had many good role models.
Ain't nobody can dance the way these two did. These guys took it to places it has never been to since.
Perfection!!!!!
I just love their style, called flash dancing. I think they are the very best tap dancers ever!
And sang like smooth velvet.
Even as kids the Nicholas brothers had phenomenal talent.
Even as kids they were just great.
Такого выступления я ещё не видела,просто шедевр,классные степисты,малый просто чудо,ещё и поет,и танцуют синхронно!,браво!
Короли степа,на все времена!!!
Wow.. I often explain to people that these lads inspired Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire.. such raw talent.. it flowed from them.. what a life they must of had.. they only passed in the 80’s..😌🙏… incredible journey.. let us raise a glass 🥃.. to the Nicholas Brothers..
This is some of the most AWESOME dancing I have seen! YES! Love them Nicholas Brothers!
Lottalox I know!!Inspired me to chronicle dance in my dance novel DANCE MOMMA on Wattpad website or app. Check it out for free
Lottalox .... My sentiment exactly... Simply Awesome
Lottalox It's great to be able to see how Fayard perfected the Brothers signature style by 1932, complete with nuances, the freezes, slight slowing down and speeding up, etc. And that style was not deviated from for decades. Pretty impressive.
They are so amazing duet! They feel music and rhythm perfectly. I’m speechless.
They were a national treasure. I wish I could have seen them in person back then.
Hello Leslie, How are you doing?
Imagine the practice, rehearsals and dedication that went into these performances!
People don't realize the grinding, obsessive work behind a performance like that, in which every little twitch of the eyebrow has been perfected. I hope they were the ones that were obsessed, and not some domineering parent ... !
I knew of the Nicholas Brothers for many years but never saw them before so young. They were amazing talents!
Me either , & it was a joy to see!!
they are actually 15 and 22 here , thogh neither look it
I believe that they had a brief cameo in, "The Emperor Jones" (1933) during a night club dance scene.
I remembered him as the Karate man in Uptown Saturday Night. Beautiful. It wasn't ALWAYS depressing and sad in those days.
I already knew they were the most talented dancers ever but I didn't realize they achieved that level as mere children as shown in this video. Wow!
Oh, those good old days when black music was beautiful, wholesome and the dancing superb. To think that these early pioneers could do all this in a hostile environment of those years is quite remarkable.
Ma Rainey and Lucille Bogan, among others did not have wholesome music in the 1920's-1930's.
I believe that talent does not have a color, too bad you do.
Back when people had class. Not to mention the talent. I’ll watch this anytime over today’s talentless stuff.
You know, it is possible to praise one thing without insulting another thing.
Back when people had class. They both screwed around on their wives and were terrible fathers.
@@skepticchic3426 correct... Unfortunately, things have always been that way and will probably never change, either.😞
Skeptic Chic especially Harold ! Just look at Dorothy! Who the hell would cheat on that !?
I have never seen a duo dance with such impeccable timing, style, and grace the way the Nicholas Brothers did. Incredible performers! May they both rest peacefully.
Watching those lovely boys dance makes my heart sing. They are so full of talent and joy.
Its almost the end of 2019 and this gem popped up into my recommendations and i was born in 93. I appreciate this alot
I'm here in 2020 and I was born in 93 as well
@@jermainethomas1570 It's later on in 2020 now, and so far the year has been appalling. Good video though. If the world is still here in 2021, maybe I can watch it again.
No words, historical America, outstanding best ever dancers from all time, nothing to be added. Merci beaucoup, there's America !
I'd agree with you if America wasn't such a racist dump. Their roots certainly ain't from America! Sadly the social attitudes haven't changed that much either, apart from you don't lynch anymore.
The GREATEST.
Коротко и ясно!
Одним словом!!
Amazing how their knees held up with their incredible moves.
Oh how i wish people presented themselves like this now days. What talent!
Me too.
One million times better than today's Black so called artists.
They are truly talented and decent.
I've been trying to figure out what happened exactly. How do you lose this part of your culture over just a few decades?
How did they go from the Blues and Jazz to...well, you know.
There are a few factors I'm aware of, sure, but none of it feels adequate to explain such a turn down such a different road.
Not that "white" mainstream artists are any better, not really.
I dunno, I'm just babbling now.
Have a nice day!
Вы правы
take out the word black ,and I agree.
Not just better than todays black artists, man, they're better than today's artist in general, black white, all the colors of the rainbow. Shiet if anyone made performances like that nowadays that would be golden, true talent right there
People (Blacks) had class in those days. They wouldn't publickly sing the *National Anthem* in jeans with holes in them and partially tucked in shirts.
This is beyond description! Incredibly good!
Wow,,, what raw talent. The timing, rhythm and how they play off each others energy is so natural. Like the Hines brothers the Nicholas brothers are an Icon in the African American culture.
