    $370 minimum for a wireless, aluminum, Hall effect, and 75%. That’s expensive and there is no justification for that, especially if it’s a prebuilt. Keychron Q1 HE ($220) and the Monsgeek M1W V3 HE ($109-$129) have wireless, aluminum, Hall effect, and 75%. Not to mention GMMK 3 only has black and silver options, if you want a full white build (which the keyboards I mention has by default) you need to pay $409 minimum. That’s the glorious tax no justification for it.

      So many cheap Chinese factory brands have popped up and offer terrible service/warranty, especially for a product you can take apart. I don't want to send an email and video back and forth to get mailed parts so I can self-repair (HELLO MONSGEEK ETC.). Why wouldn't I spend a few hundred on a product that has a good warranty and with a brand that's been around longer than 2022. Maybe you like to gamble? How good are the parts/components for a product that's priced sub $200USD? Sorry kid, but if you've gamed longer than 20 years, you not gonna deal with that anymore.

    • @broham1576

      @@UrzasClaw the whole custom keyboard scene is parts from Chinese factories(same with GLORIOUS). Not to mention all the group buys, that just makes your statement false. A good keyboard with warranty isn't hard to come by and the keyboards i mention have good parts and components and exceptional build quality ... the only thing you can argue is software. keychron a direct competitor (Q1 vs GMMk Pro) at the time just out performed Glorious for a lower price (3 years ago). They both held the standard of the keyboard space more and more companies have been trying to replicate them for a while now that's why its so cheap. like dude its not 2019-2020 where keyboards cost $600 for a decent build. glorious just has their name and think they can overprice products. they have low tier mice (what made them so popular) and the keyboards they don't innovate anymore. they are lacking and have been this is no different.

      Have you ever tried to deal follow up with a warranty with many of these new companies? I have experience with terrible warranty or follow-up issues. Have you ever used drop before? It's very common to launch a product and then have no follow-up service. The companies are a dime a dozen. Their first priority is not to give you good service or follow up especially if their products are sub 200usd. They think customers will just drop the issue and give up the product because mailing is such a hassle and almost not worth it, based on the cost.

    The GMMK 3 PRO HE wasn't $179. Your review was about that. So that's what people were pointing out about cost. The GMMK 3 HE is wired only and has plastic body. The GMMK 3 PRO HE is wireless + aluminum body and $349 for pre-built. I am glad that you brought out the "bare bones" GMMK 3 HE as a comparison at $179. That's at least price competitive against the Wooting 60HE. Good work overall on this follow up video!

      My main review was about the GMMK 3 in general, I know I had a top notch build, but I was covering the new release as a whole. There was so much too cover that maybe I didn't express that enough.

    The reaction to this keyboard highlights the primary reason I've moved away from the peripheral subreddits. Where they once were treasure troves of information, they are now antithetical to the core consumer and are only interested in their own perception of quality regardless of if the products they are pushing are actually what the user in question needs or wants.

    • @Aerobrake

      i mean to be fair, wooting cost less outright & is the tried and true OG of HE boards, and there are plenty of other HE options on the market that cost a good bit less and also have 8k polling. not hating just pointing out the fact that there are more trusted & financially responsible options for entry into HE keyboards

      The reason this keyboard and most Glorious products are so hated or criticized so much is because they are overpriced for what you get. There are other options that are cheaper for better sound, feel or just other things. Glorious products are super cheap feeling and just made like garbage. Not only that, the CORE software they just released (new version) just functionally doesnt work and hasnt been updated since release months ago. If I use the new version, I cannot even change the LEDs on my mouse. My Model I 2 is junk in general and for $100 it was a waste of money. Glorious is a shit company at this point and they dont deserve the clearly paid for good reviews they are getting. Like from RandomFrankP as well

    I was able to get my dream board, and I’m a writer not a gamer so I don’t know if that matters, but by getting the switches I wanted which were the silent lynx HE, and some of the other things that really mattered to me (keycaps for example) and then substituting out plastic instead of aluminum for the body (things that don’t matter as much to me, especially since I was able to get the flexible plate and gaskets that gave me the typing touch I wanted which was just more important than the aluminum for the experience) I was able to get an incredible writing keyboard for $260. it even has the color way I want, and the sound is subtle and beautiful. I tend to have a heavy thumb and so I eventually tend to have a chattering space bar so I can just pop in a mech switch that makes up for that while having the HE switches elsewhere . Glorious has the best thing going in my opinion if you are using a keyboard like I do for instance, typing 8 to 9 hours a day at a steady clip, and not the variability and things I know that you gamers want. But the point is I was able to get what I want just like the gamers with the same board. That is a piece of equipment I have an intimate relationship with that makes me my bread and butter. A keyboard totally matters to me I’m really glad you did this review, this is one of the better things I’ve seen you do actually. Thank you. Get the word out.

    I didn't know anything about this brand before your first video. I was looking into getting a Wooting board but the customization and upgradeability of this board is incredible.

    • @alexandertheokay9943
      @alexandertheokay9943 Місяць тому +1

      Wooting boards aren't that bad, but most of their popularity stems from being one of the first to market with HE switches.
      There are way better options out there like the gmmk 3(just basing that on how much better they sound).
      The main advantage to Wooting is it has many users so it easy to find a setting profile someone else has made (like pros and streamers), but if you're willing to tinker and experiment you'll get a much more premium feeling keyboard with something else :)

    • @Bobaboy17
      @Bobaboy17 Місяць тому

      Please don't get this you can get way cheaper keyboards and also the customization if this board is less than a wooting with wooting you can change to a bunch of custom keyboard cases and change everything this can.

  • @DemVidzIsMine
    @DemVidzIsMine Місяць тому +3

    I’m sure it’s a decent product and I don’t think your review was bad at all. It’s so hard to recommend this when there are other Hall effect keyboards with metal builds for 1/4 of the price. Keychron, monsgeek, wooting, meletrix, and likely others are all have prebuilt Hall effect options. I would even argue mainstream brands like razer, steel series, and Logitech are better value propositions. I’ve also had terrible first hand experience owning the previous gmmk pro which was half the price of this new board. The hate comments are not warranted at all. It would be cool to see a comparison vs all the other readily available optical keyboards.

    With options like the Lemokey p1 pro ($129) and Monsgeek mv1w ($119) out there this thing is still way overpriced in comparison. Both still are far cheaper than the most basic version of this yet still has almost all the features of the expensive version.

      It takes 14 - 21 Days to even get me those keyboards delivered. Most people buy a new keyboard because the old failed. IDK, I'd rather buy something available that is good enough instead of waiting over half a month.
      I had this scenario and instead bought the relatively new Vulcan II TKL Pro HE for 150$, which pretty much no one talks about. The few reviews were all very positive, and this thing is excellent for me.

  • @mafreeen
    @mafreeen Місяць тому +1

    I love you Techne and I believe that there is nothing wrong with the review and the product is undeniably decent. However, please note that this keyboard is made for modders and enthusiasts, because if this product is only marketed to gamers and they only care about performance, the customization feature is less (regular gamers who are not into modding will have no idea what the gaskets are for). I know it looks impressive to have a Hall effect and a 5-pin hot-swappable PCB, but this feature was already introduced in the market last year, take Akko MOD007B-HE as an example. And honestly, only few people could appreciate this feature as the Hall effects can last forever. For that kind of price, you can get two or three Hall Effect/mechanical keyboards with aluminum construction, good sound, wireless, hot-swap switches, and good software support. The keyboard market has expanded massively this year. Most of the cheap pre-built keyboards are already so good that some of them are better out of the box than custom ones.

    Being excited over an overpriced plastic wired board from a money hungry company like glorious is wild. They seemed like a cool company in the beginning but now it's just sad. Also, the argument for customize as you go will leave you with a board far more expensive in the end than if you just spend that absurd amount up front for a prebuilt garbo board like you did. I really miss reviewers looking at actual well thought out equipment.

  • @Lortherain

    I'm never going to come round HE switches, they sounds so hollow and cheap. That alone completely nullifies any other positive qualities that the board may have, the keyboard price is that high because of the HE switches I get that, but HE switches have that hateful cheap plasticky sound to them that completely eliminates this keyboard as a viable purchase for me. Even the barebones is more expensive than the keyboard I mentioned in your previous video ( Aula F75 ) and I guarantee it would sound worse without further heavy investment into it. Fact of the matter is if you want a hall effect keyboard there are cheaper alternatives and if you want a good sounding keyboard there are also cheaper alternatives. In my mind this keyboard is obsolete in the current keyboard market.

    As a keyboard enthusiast, I honestly think the gmmk 3 is a welcome addition to the in-stock variety. I know there are technically better and cheaper options out there but for the amount of customization options and getting it all from one place it's really hard to beat for those who aren't familiar with the 100s of custom keyboard sites.

    People live in a bubble, especially on the internet. This thing isn’t meant to compete with Wooting because there simply is no comparison. Nobody does it better than Wooting as far as HE. Nobody.
    However, Glorious seems to want to show the “normal people” segment what keyboard customization is and they happen to offer an HE option. Also, that person can probably go into Best Buy and buy one off the shelf. Keyboard people are freaks and sometimes forget that we are an incredibly small part of the market.
    This board isn’t my cup of tea but I think some people need to remember that it’s okay when something isn’t made for them.
    Edit: In regards to the review itself, it was good! You were giving your honest opinion as you have always done since you started the channel. Lmao at people thinking you’re paid. You’re one of the only non shills in this space.

      In the end this a keyboard. I don't care which audience they want to target with the marketing. It is way overpriced in the current market and it doesn't sound that good. Why should a beginner overpay? Only because Glorious says it is a beginner board? Makes really no sense at all. If they want something for mx-style without waiting i recommend used or just getting some in stock keyboard (mostly GB or preorder extras). HE is just really bad at the moment. Switches not always compatible, proprietary software and bad sound. Hope this gets fixed a bit by geon. In the meantime i would recommend a wooting PCB with a good case. More compatibility with Switches. For prebuilts the Keychron HE or Monsgeek HE feels like the way better deal imo.
