Now that we've gotten the heat riser off the van we need to clean it out.

Instead of removing the heat riser/intake assembly what would you think of just tapping on the heat riser while still on the vehicle to free up blockage?

Ahh go on! Try the solid rocket booster method! You know you want to! Or at least drill the hole in the old one and see if you can get it cleared then. Please do let us know if your carb icing problem is cured with this either way!

Would you know the part number for your inlet manifold, I’m guessing it a twin port for 1600?

Yep, twin port 1600. I think there's a part number stamped on it, will check and get back!

The part number is 113.129.701AE . The important part is the last two letters, AE in this case which is a twin port 1600, this should match with the code stamped below the generator/alternator stand on your engine: www.heritagepartscentre.com/eu/vw-aircooled-engine-codes
