@ 10.00 mins in , the birdsong is the reason we all try to get away from it all 😊. Thanks for the film Adrian and best of wishes too..
Hi and thanks for watching
Glad you enjoyed it
Cheers Adrian
One of may favorite tarp set up is the tarp tent which can be a bit of a fiddle, but that one looks so easy.
Hi and thanks for watching,
Really quick and seems good quality stitching etc
Cheers from the bivy
Lovely video as usual, best wishes to you and especially your wife.
Hi and thanks for watching,
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for the wishes
Cheers Adrian
Great spot Adrian. The Onewind shelter is a great option to keep things light and its always good to have items as dual use etc. Lots of light weight bags for kit is good way to store stuff etc. Its worth a gram or too. Nicely done brother.
Hi and thanks for watching
Glad you liked it
Got a couple of yours to catch up
Weight !!! What can we do
Fitness it’s all down hill lol
Cheers from the bivy
Lovely route Adrian. That log pile has grown a lot since the last time I passed it.
Hi Dave, thanks for watching,it’s a pleasant walk for sure,
Biggest stack I have ever seen,
Imagine when they come for it, the mud and trench’s
Cheers Adrian
@ yeah, Clennell Street will get well and truly churned up
I am 64 walk about 4 miles a day plus some longer walks. Have to say feeling it a lot more now. Nice video
Hi and thanks for watching,
It seems each of the big birthdays like 50 then 60 it all starts to slip,
Maybe with good work we can slow it slow !
Cheers Adrian
@northumberlandmountainhopper well it has to be better than just sitting around.
Also i have a couple of small tents i use mostly the Helm 2 packs very small and to be honest has been pretty good with regards condensation
@@peter236uk1I may take a tent yet !!
Good going that Adrian great walk put your bivvy in as a dry bag then stuff ya sleeping bag in fold divvy over then it's waterproofed what a stunning morning for a walk out atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Hi Jimmy thanks for watching, glad you liked it, good tip as well, but what about the bottom of the bivy being wet, won’t it transfer to the sleeping bag, if the membrane did not do its job, I would trust the army bag doing that, I will try next camp
Cheers from a bivy
@northumberlandmountainhopper it's what we did in the army mate also we didn't use air mats just the foam mats so a quick setup 👍👍
@@LundysWildcampBushcraft Jimmy can you imagine now not using an air mat !!!
Fine mesh netting ... Scottish midges are smaller than mosquitos , you'll need a mesh covering to get any sleep in Scotland , a tent can make life easier for a midge free sleep .
Hi and thanks for watching,
And the ideas
We have the same midge in Northumberland
I have various forms of protection from head nets to full midge jackets, April should be ok for midges, the idea of a tent was more, to better help with setting up in wind and if the wind direction changes in the night, and I suppose a bit more privacy.
Cheers From the bivy
Thats one mighty pile of wood there!
@@PhilWaud hi Phil thanks for watching, it was massive few hundred metres of it, losing spots to bivy very quickly up here
Cheers from the bivy
Ha... good one Adrian. 😂 I'm just coming up to 70 and don't half feel it nowadays. Trouble is, I still feel like a 17 yr old in my head. The problems come when I try to put thought into action!
Nice video, enjoyed it. Keep 'em coming.
Hi and thanks for watching,
Glad you enjoy the videos,
Age is hard it just keeps taking a bit more each year !!! Like you say the mind !!!
Cheers Adrian
Well done lad.
Hi and thanks for watching
Glad you liked it
Cheers Adrian
Nice one Adrian , don’t worry about the miles , you’ll train on the trail. Slow and steady.
@@macinthewild8116 hi shaun, that’s the plan, don’t think you can do better than just do it
Cheers Adrian
Very enjoyable video my friend 👍
Hope you didn't have to drive miles to get home, they're shutting off roads at the drop of a hat these days!
Cheers and all the best to you and yours 👍 🍻
Hi and thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it, I caught the road well again so straight through,
What gets me is the C172 is shut
Where do they get these odd number where’s the A and B roads gone ?
Cheers Adrian
Cheers Adrian
I mentioned a while ago, that I bought my RAB ascent 1100 sleeping bag direct from the manufacturers & they sold me a Lowe alpine compression sack, which is also waterproof. Great effort, well done.
Hi and thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it,
Yes I remember and I remember checking the stuff sack out, probably on my list but trying stuffing at the minute
Cheers Adrian
@@northumberlandmountainhopper The stuff sack comes with the bag, but the compression sack is an optional extra. Good luck.
Another great video Adrian! I was out myself on Saturday, exploring woods I’d never visited before. The terrain as hard going, steep inclines, knee high brambles, and bog. After 5 miles of that I decided to change location to a woods I was more familiar with, racing against the daylight at the same time. Reaching my second location it was a 3 mile uphill hike through soft wet mud and I had to find a pitch in almost darkness. I got my tarp up and set out my bivvi and sleep system. I too was on a slight slope which is a pain. I managed to knock up a little dinner and drank as little as possible so I wouldn’t have to get up in the night. I lay with a great view of the clear night sky full of stars, the crescent moon and one of the planets shone incredibly bright. I woke up to a fresh crisp morning, bivvi and sleep mat covered in frost. Packed up and had a leisurely stroll back to the car. I spotted three white deer on my return which for me was the cherry on the cake. Not all trips go to plan but glad I dealt with it and it turned out to be one I will remember!
Hi and thanks for watching
Glad you enjoyed it
Your trip sounded great, you should film it
Albino deer great to see, easy to poach as well which is a shame
We need none slip kit !!! Bits of silicone helps but does not last and makes stuff messy I feel
Cheers from the bivy
@ I work at B&Q, there is a product called “rug slip” I’ve been thinking of cutting a piece of this to go under my sleeping bag, it comes in much larger sizes than I’d need so a little of it hopefully won’t weigh that much!….. I will let you know if I do try it out 👍
Great video Adrian ! You never disappoint ! I did the great glen way and west highland way using the method of a liner in my bag and then the sleeping bag open at the bottom. everything else was in dry bags and just moulded around the sleeping bag. it worked really and the sleeping bag never got in the way or impeded the bag. Ill be using that system again this year for my hikes. Keep up the great work. Michael
Hi and thanks for watching, glad you liked it, I think I will try it that way on the next camp, just lots of experimenting at the minute,
Cheers Adrian
Thanks again for the content Adrain. Pleasure as always no nonsense straight to the point.
Is that a down jacket by montane? I try to keep my gear olive green or camo nowadays to blend into the countryside. Cheers.
Hi and thanks for watching, glad you enjoy the videos,
Yes montane, tighter fit than the Rab so better under waterproofs or in bivy, prefer the Rab fit but can get these from the factory shop far cheaper and it’s good kit.
Colour a winner as well
Pity Berghaus did not do pak lite in olive,
I find it better to try as best as possible to blend in, less chance of farmers picking you up when on the rounds
Cheers from the bivy
Nice video, thanks Adrian
Hi and thanks for watching
Glad you liked it
Cheers Adrian
Famous old illicit whisky still up that way if you get a chance to go back!
Hi and thanks for watching
I think I know where it is,
My friend found it when he explored the spot as well,
Even though the farm is there it’s still very remote
Cheers Adrian
That waterfall has been on my list for a few years but I still haven't done it. Fine weather you had this time. Hope all goes well for your wife. Thanks for sharing again.
Hi and thanks for watching,
Yes it’s a great spot, but imagine if that fire pit was on the grass in front of the waterfall !!
They are easier routes to it from the valley, I dare say you know,
Cheers Adrian
Great video Adrian.. Really enjoy them 🤠👍🏼
Hope all goes well with your wife’s operation and she has a speedy recovery..
See you out soon enough I’m sure 👏🏼👏🏼
Hi and thanks for watching,
Glad you enjoy them,
Thanks for the wishes
Cheers Adrian
Am looking at possibly making a Tyvek bivvy, or buying one. Our American pals are quite keen on them as they are breathable, water resistant (you still need a tarp) but lighter than Goretex or wpm materials. I love these videos.
Hi and thanks for watching, glad you like the videos,
Yes I have looked at them might look again, it needs to be big enough, I stick to the bivy as the Northumberland wind is so fierce I always wonder if the tarp holds out
Cheers from the bivy
Good video and beautiful scenery. If you want to get some serious daily training in then concentrate first on load carrying. Load up you bergen with 1 litre water bottles to reach at laest 50% more than you intend to carry. You MUST use filled water bottles as these you can empty as things get harder. Do it every day and record the amount of water you carry (and discard) each day. This gives you and indicator as to how fit you are getting. Obviously the water can be discarded in bulk if you need to. Our standard training weight is 40 Kg but we rarely need to carry that amount (but could if in an emergency)Take care, Helen, Katarin Juska-Law with Stella Jorgensson
Hi and thanks for watching,
Glad you enjoyed it,
Always a good commenter for tips,
All well and good, but what about knee pain, bad enough with 15k lol
Cheers from the bivy
@@northumberlandmountainhopper Guess it depends on the cause of the knee pain - arthritis or wear and tear = not much - muscle wear and tear = gradual strengthening with slowly increasing loads. The is always the American 'vitamin I' solution BUT that needs medical advice re other medication you may be taking.
Such a source of info

Hi bud, if you re thinking of a tent have a word with Colin at Outdoor Gear Essentials and have a look at the Lanshan 1 tents. Get the Pro single skin for the lightest or look at the version with an inner as you can take it out and have basically an enclosed tarp tent. Cant fault them for the money. Also either use a bin liner or a nyloflume pack liner to put your rucksack then stuff your sleeping bag in to that with any extra clothes. Squash the air out and just twist the top of the bag shut. Keep s everything perfectly dry.
Hi and thanks for watching, always fancied a lanshan but love the bivy more, but perhaps needs must, who knows, bin liners do seem popular
Cheers Adrian
Great video and camp really enjoyed this one a true wild camper 👍
Hi and thanks for watching
Glad you liked it, I love to be out there out of the way,
Cheers from a bivy
Great video and thoughts on your upcoming trip.maybe do a little weight training for your legs.thanks as ever.
Hi and thanks for watching
Glad you enjoyed it
Good idea, my son has weights and bench etc in the garage, do some good weather training while I am in there ! It’s freezing lol
Cheers Adrian
Your last comment, we were taught to keep the sleeping bag in the bivi bag and stuff them both then in the rucksack.
Hi, makes sense, easy with the MLD, Alpkit and perhaps the army, but the hooped army is massive
Trouble is everything is space Hungary
Still think a small stuff sack works good for me but I am going to persevere with stuffing it.
Cheers Adrian
Take a bigger tarp and just make the tent configuration on those campsites?
Hi and thanks for watching, I had thought about that, but the tent configuration can’t match the Trailstar in the wind, I am thinking about hanging my towel down from the internal washing line I have set up
Cheers Adrian
trail star and army bivi, (these will be safe and you would manage the extra gram). Tent safety but not the same and too enclosed. Just look at the other kit your taking to loose weight
Hi and thanks for watching, need a zip in the army one which will soon. Be in hand,
I probably will make my final decision the week before, see the forecast, which will be wrong but it helps,
Cheers from the bivy
