Fearless Ruth crushes another bothy! We think you're a legend Ruth, thanks for your videos. My wife n I are moving to Scotland from Ontario Canada in April,( i was born in Falkirk Scotland )hopefully we can buy you (and Ernie of course) a dram or 3 after we are settled in the Linlithgow area.
The red myth comes from bullfighting, where the movement, not the colour gets the bull's attention. So, don't worry about the jacket, just don't move.🤣 Who leaves single malt? Ruth, I love the fact that you're still moved emotionally by the scenery after all the travelling you've done!
That's right. The reason is: cows, horses and other big animals see in Black & White. They do notice when you move though. As far as ghosts are concerned, sorry, I don't know if they exist and whether they stay at bothies.
Just read through a number of comments left this evening. You have obviously touched a lot of folks around the planet with your charm, exuberance, story telling talent, videography expertise and intrepid adventurous spirit. Go Ruth !!
Love the cows. You did well. I married 40 years and don’t think I could do something so remotely by my self. I could not carry such a heavy backpack at my age-too many spine surgeries done. I’m living through your video adventures. Thanks for taking me to a Brothy
I just love your videos. I giggled when I saw you drink whiskey in your videos. The reason why is you are so petite and sweet. In Texas and the south U.S, it is quite rare for consuming what we call hard liquor when alone or even in many social settings. I love that in the UK/Scotland/Ireland the alcohol consumption is social and enjoyment of taste and it doesn’t lead to the problem of alcoholism we have in our country. I love that you share what it taste like and where it is from. Doing your videos is a lot of work and takes so much courage. You are brave and it just give people like me a window and adventure I would never experience. Thank you. Keep up all you do!!
Highland Cows are absolutely adorable. A farmer near my timber property in North Louisiana of all places have a large herd of Highland Cows. I just love watching the little furry calves romping around !
Hello from Maritime Canada on the Bay of Fundy. Love your content. It is so nice to follow your adventures and I look forward to watching even more of your adventures. Be Well Stay Safe. 🇨🇦 ❤
Thank you for taking me along. You are such a strong young lady. Kind regards from the middle west USA. P.S. I like to see all the places my ancestors would have traveled in Scotland.
Hello , My wife and I visited Scotland several years ago and really loved it. We really enjoy watching your videos. Southern Maine is where we live now in our retirement apartment.
Hi Ruth! Can't wait to watch your upcoming spring and summer videos. Scotland always look's amazing in the summer when the forests are out, and it must be nice for it not be dark and freezing as well lol. Never the less winter in Scotland really does have some amazing qualities and look's so beautiful.
Your unique videos portray your exceptional ability to communicate about opportunities to experience things that we lesser mortals only dream about.Thank you so much .Brooks,Canada.
Hi Ruth. I was enjoying your video with a wee glass of Tomatin Legacy - a fine wee dram but not peaty enough for you! I see you were getting an early practice in for the Islay-Jura escapade 😊 Thanks for taking us along on another great adventure today.
Something so cozy about the bothy. I could long term videos of someone or a group staying for a month or longer just cooking and hiking and telling stories ❤
So happy to see you had a video up I love when you go to a Bothy, always exciting The Highland cows a beautiful I could not harvest or eat them. Maybe the bucket could be used if not for garbage holder and toilet for urin?? . Its nice when some visitors leave books , Matches , and so on. I love being in nature where I live and yes id stay in a bothy. Thank you again Ruth for taking us along to another Bothy adventure in yet another beautiful area looked liked fun.
WOW! Amazing video! I'm astonished that you had that beautiful place to yourself with no one else around! You're a brave, adventurous Scottish Sis! What FUN! Many blessings
You charm me with your travels, astute observations, unique experiences and wonderful personality. These bothy trips are fabulously intriguing! Keep on roaming Ruth! I so look forward to your videos.
Fantastic. When you mentioned that you had something to finish up later and it starts with "W". Whiskey was the first thing that came to mind. It just shows you how close we all feel about you and that in every video you make us feel like it is a one to one conversation. What a great experience.
Another outstanding Vlog Ruth. Your love for your homeland and environment are clearly evident. Loved the “ security guards “ before the Bothy, they are beautiful animals. Your explanations for everything you were using and encountered were so good with your usual easy style, as you seem to be able to personalize it as if you are talking to us as if we are there, such a skill talking into the camera alone. Brilliant idea with the candles, then with the fire lit, you certainly made things as cosy as you could You certainly earned that meal after your hike to the Bothy with your backpack. All that fresh air and exercise certainly gave you a great sleep too Well Done again Ruth Thank You for sharing.
I do love the thought of staying in the bothy. I don’t know about the bed because I am asthmatic and need several pillows and the cold would probably not agree with me. I’m also an old duck of nearly 82 I have done loads of travel all over the world and loved every minute of it.
Hi Ruth, I took my boat to the lake today and went fishing. No fish to bring home but a really nice day on the lake. I live up in the mountains of western North Carolina in the United States. My small cabin is about 4,000 feet above sea level. It is cold up here but beautiful. I watch my woodstove like you said about the fireplace in the bothy. I liked the way you put that. I dont watch T.V. and I enjoy the wilderness instead. Thank you for sharing another nice adventure. I like the way you are. Smiling, George.
Thank you Ruth for your amazing videos, I watch them from the comfort of Scottsdale, Arizona in the Northern reaches of the Sonoran Desert. Tomorrow it will be 83 degrees in Scottsdale, out Winter is over, and it is dry as Sahara Desert here right now. You're such a great sport, and it is wonderful to see Scotland from your point of view. Take Care Ruth!
Just so ya know, all cattle are colorblind. The whole bull matador and red thing is somewhat of a myth. The movement of the cape is what actually agitated the bull. Red is safe!! :)
I'm on a diet that is heavy on meat protein but even I couldn't EVER eat a piece of beef if someone told me it came from a Highland cow. I am so so happy that you did another bothy walk/stay. I remember making a comment on one of your older vids that I'd love for you to do every bothy walk that was in that book you showed from the first one. Might be impossible but maybe some day you will run out of ideas of places to show us and do it :)
So nice. I just came off a weekend seminar with lots of human contact. This was such a lovely idyll, I feel centered again. Thanks for a relaxing trip up to the mountain bothy. Bravo!
You are very generous with allowing us to share your innermost spatial experience Ruth .. I almost feel guilty that you give us that privilege. Thank you for sharing your special space in life and the land you love. ❤
Any food is the best you have ever had after a few, I know the feeling lol. Fair play to you doing another bothy, not sure I could do it, every little noise would have me jumping out of my skin. Amazing that you slept 11 hours. Enjoyed this as I do all of your videos, the quiet and solitude must make all of your senses come alive. I did Edinburgh for the first time a few weeks ago and I am in love with it! Next visit will be to do these more remote islands, thank you for introducing me to Scotland!
So great that you have a tradition of outdoor activities and going for a hike in nature. The cabins in the field are very Interesting. Thank you for another great video.
Hey Ruth. Great video. Really captured something of that bothy feel!. Back in the old days before we emigrated we used to go to Scotland (from southern england) all the time. We stayed several times on Eilean Shona in Sawmill Cottage which, although a little more in the way of home comforts - electricity, cooker, fridge, bed, toilet and hot water - was very isolated. Never felt so safe! It would be a long journey for an axe murderer to make when there are so many more people in suburbia! 😂 To my knowledge we dont have anything quite like a bothy in Aus so its always great to get to share your experiences through your channel. Nothing better than bothy TV. Whichever channel you watch, its always the best programme! Cheers. Ian
Ah lovely Mull! That was quite the walk from the road! We loved finding these peaceful places on the island. To be unable to hear human activity is bliss sometimes! N&Nx
Love the bothy videos! I don’t think I’d be brave enough to do it, so I really appreciate you showing us around! I bet it was so fun and interesting to read the guest book too!
Aye Ruth, plenty of time to contemplate with a wee whisky or six at a bothy with no phone signal! Kudos to you once again... Look forward to your next adventure!
Another amazing adventure Ruth. Love your inspiring, warm, reflective videos. You are soooo brave, especially walking alone past all those wee beastie cattle 😂 I just couldn't do it and would so regret it .
What a beautiful setting! I have done my share of camping over the years, but never alone. I think a bothy would be a wonderful adventure with some friends or family for company.
Another perfect video Ruth. Im glad you had some whisky with you. It gave me the perfect excuse to sit and have a wee dram with you.😊 Thanks for taking us along on your travels again.👍
Hello Ruth. Wonderful video in a beautiful countryside area. Love your determination to go out and do these amazing hikes. One day I hope to get to the UK and perhaps recreate a trip like this. Brilliant video. Love the cows.
Hey Ruth, I live in Dorset but love Scotland. What you said about it bringing tears to your eyes is exactly how it gets me. Love your videos btw. All the best. Nick
Another excellent episode staying in a bothy👍 Beautiful scenery indeed! I like those cows, for some reason they make me think of Herman’s Hermits the way their hair looked in the sixties. 😆 Anyway, thanks Ruth, for sharing 👍❤️
This looks like heaven to me. I would love it. I have traveled Scotland solo but have not stayed in a bothy yet. Thank you for sharing this experience. There is nothing like being out of cell phone range to get your internal bearings.
Oh my goodness! You are courageous and strong to pack all that stuff on your back and walk that great distance. You are so cute talking about the red color of your jacket affecting the cows. 😊 Remember, you said they had a gentle nature. 😁 I don't think the color has an effect, but I have never really researched it. You are so cute talking about the "w" item in your backpack. 😂 It would be fun having you visit Oregon and making videos of the beautiful places in the Pacific Northwest. It's a lot like Scotland here. Green almost all year long. You are such a delight to watch. You put a smile on our faces, and you add a little joy to our day. 💖😁
Have whisky will travel! We know you love a good bothy, and a good whisky. OMG, Octomore....wow, it doesn't get any peatier than that. Great video Ruth.
Could you stay the night in a remote bothy like this?
I have to be honest probably not😅🙋♂️
Noooooo, 😯
Not On my own,
Braver than Me Ruth, Hats off to you,
Absolutely absolutely yes I would like to.
I would like to experience it
I love it! Feels like living back in the early years. Your making me want to make a trip to Scotland. Such lovely landscape and cows!
Had a wee chuckle! Ruth sitting in a bothy, fire on getting quietly hammered! Superb!👍👏👏♥️🏴
@@oggie1967 😅
That was definately amusing
What's even more chucklelicious is that she packed in both the wood and whiskey to have a sit in front of the bothy fire, getting quietly hammered!
I was there the following week! No Rizla Papers left to be seen on that mantle! 😲
Made me chuckle.
I love your heart-meltingly beautiful Scottish accent as well as your obvious love and pride for your home nation.
I totally get why you go to these wild, remote places. It's wonderful and magical. Thanks for sharing.
Totally agree!
All the best with your move!
The red myth comes from bullfighting, where the movement, not the colour gets the bull's attention. So, don't worry about the jacket, just don't move.🤣 Who leaves single malt? Ruth, I love the fact that you're still moved emotionally by the scenery after all the travelling you've done!
Interesting! Never knew that!
Yes, it's not so much the color red that irks them as the preening berk in tight satin pants waving a sheet around.
That's right. The reason is: cows, horses and other big animals see in Black & White. They do notice when you move though. As far as ghosts are concerned, sorry, I don't know if they exist and whether they stay at bothies.
Actually cows are dichromatic and see in shades of blue and yellow :)
皆の信頼の上に成り立つ良心的な小屋ですね。自然の中で一人過ごす素敵な時間です。
Just read through a number of comments left this evening. You have obviously touched a lot of folks around the planet with your charm, exuberance, story telling talent, videography expertise and intrepid adventurous spirit. Go Ruth !!
That was lovely Ruth. So peaceful and scenic. Hairy coos, whisky & stunning views - Scotland at its finest 😊
The cows were very cute!
You're one brave wee lassie - for sure
Love the cows. You did well. I married 40 years and don’t think I could do something so remotely by my self. I could not carry such a heavy backpack at my age-too many spine surgeries done. I’m living through your video adventures. Thanks for taking me to a Brothy

They are the cutest!
I am really looking forword to the scenery and history of Scotland. Please continue to enjoy your campervan
trips. I'm rooting for you from Japan.
I love how cosy you made the bothy with the lavender candles and firewood!
Hi Ruth, your videos where you stay in a Bothy, boat or cottage etc are our favourite ones you make…. We enjoyed this one so much…. x❤x

Such a lovely video, Ruth. Candlelight, a fire and whisky . . . Who could ask for more?! 😻

Those cows are cute. You are a brave girl to spend the night alone in a remote cabin. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! You did it again! You’re so brave! No way, I’d be so scared to stay in a bothy. Thanks Ruth for another great video.
WOW! Amazing video! I'm astonished that you had that beautiful place to yourself with no one else around!
You're a brave, adventurous Scottish Sis!
What FUN!
Many blessings
After watching this video… I believe you are happy and contented…I hope so, Ruth…because you make so many of us happy…That’s just the way it is!

Your smile is infectious especially over a shared "dram of whiskey" 👍
Whisky is Scottish
WhiskEy is Irish
@A2Z1Two3 Sorry, shame on me. Life is different in Idaho. Most of our whiskey is clear, like water.

Some nice drone footage in your video too 😉
Great photography again Ruth. I think bothies are a great idea for spending nights in the wilderness. Love the idea of bothy TV ! Thanks for posting.😊

Oh Ruth you are adventurous! thank you so much for taking us along. Really enjoy your channel!
Hi Ruth,
thanks for living the live, I don't have the courage for. Please keep on doing so. Thanks !
Enjoyed the wee trip with you. Was definitely a less 'freak yourself out' bothy than the last one! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for yet another lovely video.
Great to see you hiking on Mull! I hope to visit this great Isle next year again....
It’s beautiful island!
You are a very brave lady

Good to hear!
Love the bothy videos! I don’t think I’d be brave enough to do it, so I really appreciate you showing us around! I bet it was so fun and interesting to read the guest book too!
The Octomore first (!?!) - you are a brave Lass! Thank you for sharing your adventures - cheers, enjoy and be safe!
Hi Ruth, I loved the bothy in beautiful surroundings, perfect isolation, thanks for sharing ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love how you got so chilled out towards the end of the video! Must have been that mesmerising fire!! 😉
😂
I thought how is Ruth SO brave?? Then I realised the whiskey must help lol. Beautiful video Ruth. Loved it.
😂😂
Ruth ,
you are such a brave soul to go by yourself but I think it would be exciting to do this ! Be safe have fun !
Aye Ruth, plenty of time to contemplate with a wee whisky or six at a bothy with no phone signal! Kudos to you once again... Look forward to your next adventure!
Thanks Ruth- great video. Be well!
Thank you, as always, Ruth.❤
Great video Ruth thank you.
Another amazing adventure Ruth. Love your inspiring, warm, reflective videos. You are soooo brave, especially walking alone past all those wee beastie cattle 😂 I just couldn't do it and would so regret it .
Oh, yay! A new one! 🍿🍿🍿
I'd love to go to Scotland and watch some "Bothy TV" !
Can't wait to see your next adventure.
I love that the bothy is so clean and no graffiti on it.....Seems like in the U.S. they tag every thing. Nice video.
Yes this one is nice
What a beautiful setting! I have done my share of camping over the years, but never alone. I think a bothy would be a wonderful adventure with some friends or family for company.
Wow, you made it past the cows and didn't see any ghosts! Very nice. The last bothy you looked a bit concerned😊
Yeah it was quite a different experience to this one!
Love your content. You're a brave lassie. Thank you. Much appreciated.
Thanks for watching the videos!
Lovely episode. Beautiful, remote location which are generally our favorite videos that you produce. Thanks for sharing your bothy visit.
Thanks, the location was amazing!
Another perfect video Ruth.
Im glad you had some whisky with you. It gave me the perfect excuse to sit and have a wee dram with you.😊
Thanks for taking us along on your travels again.👍
Yay! My fave kind of videos!
Hope you enjoy this video!
Thank you for sharing your bothy experience and what a great selection of whisky to be able to choose from ruth!🌼🙋♂️
Lots of great drivers drams from a recent Islay visit!
Hello Ruth. Wonderful video in a beautiful countryside area. Love your determination to go out and do these amazing hikes. One day I hope to get to the UK and perhaps recreate a trip like this. Brilliant video. Love the cows.
Hope you can sometime! Thanks for watching!
Hey Ruth, I live in Dorset but love Scotland. What you said about it bringing tears to your eyes is exactly how it gets me. Love your videos btw. All the best. Nick
I have learned so much from your videos, thank you so much!
Thanks for watching Jerry!
God I hope heaven is better than this.
Hi Ruth, some spectacular views, warm fire, food and a wee dram with you, what more could one ever want. Enjoy your week. 😊x
Thank you for such a cool video, like always Ruth 😁 Stay Safe 🥃
Oh my goodness! You are courageous and strong to pack all that stuff on your back and walk that great distance.
You are so cute talking about the red color of your jacket affecting the cows. 😊 Remember, you said they had a gentle nature. 😁
I don't think the color has
an effect, but I have never really researched it.
You are so cute talking about the "w" item in your backpack. 😂
It would be fun having you visit Oregon and making videos of the beautiful places in
the Pacific Northwest. It's a lot like Scotland here. Green almost all year long.
You are such a delight to watch. You put a smile on our faces, and you add a little joy to our day. 💖😁
Each Bothy seems to be quite unique and look so cozy ,it's nice that people leave some donations for others to enjoy....great video Ruth ❤
Lots of interesting books at this one!
That sleeping bag is awesome. The Rab logo from the 80s is a real piece of nostalgia.
It’s so warm too!
Thanks again, Ruth…. You’re the best!
I’m gonna sleep. Soooo well tonight while watching this, thank you Ruth !
You are so blessed with that kind of Nature there. Beautiful without an end.
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪 ❤
It really is!
Have whisky will travel! We know you love a good bothy, and a good whisky. OMG, Octomore....wow, it doesn't get any peatier than that. Great video Ruth.
