People over think this. My God people, this procedure gets done thousands of times a day all over the world. I had 2024 grafts move from the back tot he front. 300 of them went to my crown. Now I have hair...done
Lewis Wray can you after a surgery still grow your hair long without problems like if you would comb your hair when it's long that you don pull everything out
I am researching a lot about hair transplant nowadays.Fut gives better results, less laborious etc. I don't understand why so many plastic surgeons have stopped performing Fut and switched entirely to Fue.
@@DavidDiMuzio Also because even the top surgeons realize they can squeeze more patients with FUE since a skilled technician can extract grafts unlike FUT.
+Jay Sens Thank you. I'm really passionate about the subject. I want to help people by giving the most honest and detailed advice about every aspect of hair transplantation. I know what it's like to be a guy on UA-cam searching for "the real truth" about hair transplants. I want to be the guy you know is actually telling you the real truth, that is based on my own real experiences.
Not sure why you got so many thumbs down? Your video is spot on. I went through the same process and ended up lasering my hair transplants because they didn't look natural and it costs insane gobs of cash still (talking $10k+ easily). I didn't want to pay the additional 10's of thousand it would take to get to a fuller looking head of hair. Also, it is a very lengthy process and I didn't want to keep putting myself through that.
Yeah, I don't know either, but the emails I get from guys who's life I've positively changed with my honest videos sharing my experience makes all the hate and "thumbs downs" more than worth it :)
People never mention that when you get a transplant, you can barely move the hair! It goes the direction it was placed in and you have very little leeway to style it. Look at anyone with a transplant, you'll see their hair is ALWAYS going in the same direction... usually up or curved to the side
Hi David ... I have had 3 FUE procedures and I have to say you are wrong about the donor area ... of course there is density lost but ultimately we want hair at the top and not at the back .... a good FUE extraction should look good even after 3 sessions ... and also I would do anything before having that tissue removed from the back were I have heard cases of tension on the scalp ... mmmm I don't think so Thanks you
FUE is miles better than FUT, I've seen alot of FUT transplants with hardly any results and leaves a horrible scar for life. Why would you even want to go that route???
FUT has a lot of benefits that are not mentioned enough - FUT can more more hairs *succesfully* than FUE and your donor area is a limination that even money can not beat. FUE has a lower survival rate of hairs. - FUT does less harm to your donor area, as there is only a scar in 1 location. FUE leaves scars everywhere and makes the whole area less healthy, which has a negative effect on other hairs in these areas. The last thing you want to do is damage the area you're harvesting from - Most doctors will say FUE is better because they only do FUE, as it's a precedure that's cheap and time effective to learn. Of course they're going to promote FUE if its their only option - It is easier to succesfully cut away the skin around the hair roots with a strip and a microscope than harvesting the hair with root succesfully on your head. There were a lot more benefits, but its 4 AM in my country, so I need to sleep....maybe i'll come back here if anyone is interested in hearing more. I ve wirrten down all of these in another video, which I have to look up first (find it - i'm a messy person)
P O W E R - R E D - B U L L P O W E R - R E D - B U L L Thanks that was helpful, i’m 19 and struggling with frontal hair loss. My donor area is great and my hair is thick everywhere but it’s just receding in the front, i’m not sure what to go with:/
@@Prahhhd Hi CallMehProd. Your welcome! If you are 19 and struggling with hair loss, that must be hard because you're so young. If I were you, especially because you're so young, I would start using certain supplements, because I strongly believe they actually help slow down hair loss. The problem though is that these simple supplements are not pushed much by any company, because they're not patented. However, there are ones that I strongly believe might slow down the process for you. I mention this, because if you keep balding at that age at that speed, then you will run out of donar area very soon, because you would need hair transpalnts soon if you want to keep hair on your head. "Zinc Picolate" for example is a good supplement that actually helps to balance your hormones (like male hormones like testosteron and DHT) and keep or get them in a healthier balance. By preference normal testosterone can be high, but DHT should not be high. Only when the DHT start to get high and your normal tesosterone lower in comparison, then balding happens. So for sure I would try Zinc Picolate from a reputable brand and use 150 per day and keep your dose relatively high (like solgar or something). Despite what is sometimes said about "normal" testosterone, in the end it's your friend and no tyour enemy because you're a male . Normal testosterone does not cause any problems. Once normal testosterone gets lower, people usually get DHT levels that increase. This is a respondse to a decrease in testosterone in the body, where the body creates DHT, which is a very potent form of testosterone, to maintain that balance (testosterone to estrogen ratio). So keeping your testosterone levels high in an tural manner will cause your DHT to lower. What is also good to try to eat food which is high in zinc, which are: - Red meat (by preference beef) - Oysters (high in zinc too) I'm currently taking an oyster supplement. FOrgot the brand cause I'm not home if you're intersted.. (high in zinc and it's natural form is usually bes absorbed by hte body) Basically there are 2 main minerals who are connected to male and female hormones. Zinc is the male hormone, which increases testosterone (in a healthy manner) and it's counterpart is Cupper, which increases estrogen. Cupper is higher in plant based food and zinc higher in any sort of animal food (like oysters, farm animals etc). So avoid food that is high in cupper, cause it will increase your estrogens and to balance that out your body will produce DHT to balance it out (so your average male hormones are still high enough to prevent your hormones from becoming girly) Men typically expreience less little ilnesses in their life like chornic ilness than women, due to higher tstosterone". However, once men get older, at the age of 50 their testosterone is typically radpidly decreasing and they start to get all sort of health problems and balding incresaesd radpily in more men. From that mment on men decline in health much more than women, who do have lower testosterone in value, but are actually made to have a balance of more estrogens than testosterone. Men are not made to have such excess of female hormones, which caues health problems and balding at hte same time.. Food like Soy is very estrogen promoting for example (no surprise to have so many transgenders in asia) Also try taking a *Dessicated Liver supplement* (like the brand *Ancestral* ). It contains real vitamin A, which also is (healthy) testosterone promoting in the body. Real vitamine a is *retinol* and not *Beta Carothene* , which is often told to be vitamin A (which can be foudn in carrots). However, it is very poorly absorbed by the body. Most plant based food is poorly absorbed, simply because our body and plants are not the same, while animal based food is easily recongized by our body, becasue it uses the same builsding blocks. So, despite recent popular belief that plants are very healthy and meat is not, this is not really true if you want to keep your hormones balanced out. Anyway, i just keep on typing stuff and I'm not even sure if you are interesting in any of this... btw: sure i can tell more about FUE/FUT , but in your case I would hurry with trying to see if you can at least partly fix the root of the problem so you do not run out of hair way, way early in your life. Then transplants may not even be worth it, cause when you're completely bald on top, it will be hard to get enough hairs from the sides, because at that time you only have about 50% of the total amount of hairs on your head, which will look thin. It's indeed good your hair is thick, espeically on the sides. This of course will increase the amount of coverage it will provide. Anyway..i just keep on going. haha..have a good day! and I Hope any of this is helpful to you
i watched one of your videos about a year ago, i think maybe after your first surgery. I just wanna say i think your hair looks incredible and completely natural, fair play!.... I'm 23 currently thinning, how much did each surgery cost you ?
+J Booth Thanks, I've learned a ton in the process. Just trying to share that here both in the positive and negatives sides of the process that I've discovered. As long as you make smart decisions (can be achieved by watching all my YT videos on the subject) and have the money to spend (My surgeries were around 12-14K each) 3 surgeries so far then a good looking head of hair on a previous almost bald (and would be bald by now) guy such as myself is achievable.
My question is..If you are thin & a little bald, wouldn't 1 surgery look better than 0 surgeries? So for people who can't afford a 2nd surgery, is 1 still better than none? Ty so much for all of your videos btw & I hope u respond to this.
No, if you're "just a little thin" I wouldn't recommend surgery. Surgery even at it's best can only restore to about 50% of your hairs original thickness. Plus if you have surgery a lot of that thinner hair will fall out immediately from shock loss. Surgery should be more often used more to restore hair lines/temples and fill in areas that are very bald. You might want to try some concealer first on the thinning areas. I use DermMatch and Toppik together when I'm on stage under bright lights (especially in my crow) and it's like magic.
Thanks David. Are you still off Finasteride? I'm on it 3 days a week (monday, wednesday, friday). It helps a lot while minimizing possible side effects.
+Danny B. Hi Danny, yes I'm still of Finasteride. I'm gonna see how it goes off. I know I'm taking my chances a bit with the possible more hair loss and receding by not taking it, but for my own reasons (as stated in the video I made about that) I've decided to come off.
+David DiMuzio Thanks for the reply. Your videos are very helpful. I wish you luck. If you feel the hair is getting weaker consider a low dose like mine. My brother and father are both doctors. The drug has been in use nearly 26 years to million of men with no major increase of anything vs men who don't use it.
You’ve had 3 hair transplants, did your transplanted hair fall out from the first transplant after your second hair transplant? I just had my second HT two months ago and my transplanted hair from a year and a half ago is falling out. Is this normal and will that transplanted hair from last year grow back? Please help
Seems like a myth, or a falseness, to say that FUT is good if you want several surgeries, but FUE ruins any chance for a good donor area and ruins any future surgeries. Cutting a strip out of your head and then stretching the scalp back and sewing it back together doesn't increase the donor area nor does it make it better for donating later on. Imaging a balloon fully deflated, color some dots on it and the dots are close together. The more air you blow into the balloon (stretch), the more sparse the dots will look. Same principle for cutting whole chunks out of your head and sewing it back together, the more sparse will the gaps between the hairs. In an earlier video you posted, you talked about having more hair on your head after surgery was the only reason you decided to do it; which was also false because it's moved around, and not grown in a petri-dish and it's not cloned and the follicles aren't split into two or three new hair follicles from one single follicle. Thanks for putting yourself out there though, not only have I enjoyed listening your your thoughts, but your music too. Iv'e typed too much so reading this might not happen.
There are a multitude of reasons as to why FUE is not a good choice for most people's first surgery. Many hair follicles are "killed" during FUE (even using those fancy machines). I've spoken with many surgeons who perform both surgeries and virtually all of them will give you this same info. If FUE was better why wouldn't everyone just perform that? FUE is actually a much easier surgery to perform from a skill perspective. Take some of the most well respected surgeons in the world (that I have no association with) like Hasson & Wong. Why would they even perform FUT (especially as the main surgery they do) if it wasn't generally a better surgery from the perspective of new hair gained by the patient? I'm happy to hear you've enjoyed my videos and music :) ...thank you for your thoughts. I'm just glad you're looking into all these questions :)
You handle other people's angst like a pro! The only thing I can think of why a business would offer FUT over FUE -- what a time saver. I'm thinking from a business perspective. Not that I know better, but if I was a physician selling my cosmetic skills and I get paid by the graft... Would I recommend unit extraction or a single sheet snip? Just saying. I've heard of cross sectioning into the follicles. But also there are physicians who use manual hole punches over machines. It's hard to weed out fact from fiction. It's like in the restaurant business which I worked all through college, you gotta sell those window seats next to the door; not only does it make your business look fuller, but if you can sell those seats near the door, the rest is gravy. Thanks for the extra information :)
If FUE was better why wouldn't everyone just perform that? - the thing is everyone does perform that over in the UK, even wayne rooney had FUE, and someone with pretty much unlimited amount of money they would have the best , no?
I really wish I could do this for my husband. he is so upset that he's so young and loosing so much hair. no way we could afford multiple surgeries 5-10k a pop 😢
If you’re willing to fly out to Turkey you’re looking at about $2,000 dollars for the procedure plus another $2,000 for the airplane ticket. You’ll spend about $4,000 in total for everything.
I see some scumbags here are commenting bulshits, just ignore them please. Anyway, referring to the video, this guy could have explained his own experience maybe but it is wrong. i have done only one hairplanting and my hair is quite fine. I live in France , originally come from Turkey. Its much cheaper in Turkey but be careful to find an honest doctor with a good price. I wish your to your husband a good happiness with hairs !
Dont go to Turkey. The turkish doctors are notorious for overharvesting the donor area, they have been known to use up to 3/4k grafts to cover very small areas. You only have roughly 4.5k donor hairs available. Once they are gone, theyre gone. That's it. Game over. One guy here on UA-cam went to Turkey for a transplant to get some slight recession at his temples filled in. The doctors ended up using 3k grafts! 3k! The doctors wanted to use more, too- this guy has to talk them DOWN to 3k! Overharvesting will cause massive problems for your husband in the future, and he wont be able to have any more transplants to cover thinning areas as his MPB progresses. Which it WILL do. Drugs like minoxidil and finasteride dont work forever. For most people, they only work for roughly 5 years. After that, they will become much less effective, probably stop working completely. Please avoid Turkey. Dont let him get blinded by the big promises and dirt-cheap prices and extremely misleading "success stories." He needs to think in the long term. Where will he be in 5 or 10 or 15 or 20 years from now? My advice is just to give it time and be supportive. He will get over it. One day, he will laugh at himself for fussing so much over his hair. But try to avoid hair transplants. All they do it is delay the inevitable for a couple of years. Anyway, I hope my essay helps lol. Feel free to send me a message if you have questions. Best of luck.
Hi. First of all, I really enjoyed your videos. Thanks!I just had my first FUT done on 10/13/16. I am curious, how long will it take for me to start noticing hair growth? I'm excited and cant wait! I HOPE mine turns out as good as yours.
How many transplants did you have? I have had 1 so far at the age of 26. I got 1600 grafts the first time and I am planning on going back soon to get 2000. I am wondering how many you had and what you looked like prior. Thanks for posting
Hi Jeff, I've had three. It's been about 2 years since my third. You can see what I looked like in my older videos here on UA-cam ...like in my "Hold On To The Nights" Richard Marx cover, I was pretty bald back then.
what about medication after the surgery? I heard that doctors tell you to take Propecia (finasteride) but I wouldn't like to take that thing. It's recomendable still to make transplant if you are not willing to take that medication? thank you!
David, great video, many thanks for your insight! Hair looks great dude! I'm aware of the negative side effects of finasteride but what are the negative side effects for minoxidil? I know when you stop using it you lose the regrown hair, but are there other negative effects?
Wrinkles (don't ever let it drip towards your forehead or you'll get deep wrinkles there), ...notice mine :( ...and it can give you dandruff, but that's manageable.
This is not true. I have had a FUE transplant one time and my hair looks great- where they took the hair from, and where it was transplanted. Its not quite as thick though as would be expected. I have no damage where they "poked" the hair out. My process needed about 3300 hair graphs. It was the best money I have ever spent in my life!!
That's awesome to hear, but you were obviously a good FUE candidate ...someone who had thick donor hair, and didn't already have a high level of hair loss. Most hair transplant patients don't fall into those categories.
Hi David, I have to disagree with your comments on this video. Fue if done correctly does not destroy a donor area. Some patients can and do have one successful hair transplant, it all depends on patient characteristics, hair loss pattern, etc. As for pain, it depends on the patient's pain threshold. I was fine, as long as the doctor administers the right amount of anesthetic it should be near enough painless, usually just some discomfort when it is administered. With pain meds, you can have a pain free HT. As for just getting a scar cut out, you don`t explain if someone has a tight scalp, therefore making it too dangerous to excise the scar out. HT surgery has many complications and should not be taken lightly.
FUT is still a currently accepted method that is preferred for candidates with a lot of hair loss. It is also generally cheaper than FUE. FUE leaves scars, just like FUT.
That all depends on the density of your donor area. With some you will start to notice after 3000grafts, in others it can be way more than 8000 before you notice anything.
You said you did your research and looked at different transplant doctors across U.S. Have you heard about Restore by Dr. Katona? He's considered to be the best in Chicago area... but... I think performing only FUE method right now (my hair is dark brown and kinda thick so maybe I can get away with FUE method only). Also, why did you select Dr McGrath? What was the deciding factor? There are several good doctors out there I would assume. Do you live in Austin, TX?
Will hair grow if we don't take any medication..in India my doctor says that finasteride can make hair growth 100% ..But I don't wanna take that one...
Thanks for sharing, I'm planning to get my second hair transplant this year to strengthen my hairline. Question for you, what do you know about using body hair to restore the crown area?
+Pepe Infante I don't know anything about it since I've never had it done, and my body hair isn't thick enough for that really to be an option, lol, unless I used pubic hair and that sounds both painful and unattractive.
+Pepe Infante Beard hair works best and is most reliable. Body hair doesn't have a very high success rate. There are two surgeons that are highly regarded in the use of body hair. One is Dr Tejinder Bhattia he is in India. The other is Dr Sanusi Umar in the United States. Research them and you will see what can be done.
what about PRP as it does not involve any removal of scalp hair or any other hair from body, seems like it is pretty safe produure and more effective than FUT and FUE Plus Minoxidil is efficient enough for hair restoration as long as it is used hair will regrow
PRP has quite varied results on men, and for things like re-building an entire hairline isn't very effective. If you just have diffuse balding in the crown it's probably worth a shot. Minoxidil causes very bad wrinkles on foreheads used over time in the front part of your hair. Notice mine. I've seen this on LOTS of young guys who have used Minoxidil for a long time. I don't use Minoxidil anymore, also it often causes scalp flaking.
I really don't think the last two are myths. FUE or FUT depends on your donor area capacity, and the amount you would like to transplant. In addition, there is self-preference here since some patients don't want to have any scares after their operation. The fact that you claim the operation is painless just shows your opinion and lack of experience with various patients who went through FUE or FUT procedures. Each patient has their own level of pain, so it's completely individual regardless of the performing surgeon. By saying that at surgeon X it's painless vs. surgeon Y just shows that you do some kind of a promotion to your surgeon.
Sorry I didn't understand the FUE part. Is it better to do it after a surgery, before a surgery, after multiple surgeries? (My english understanding is not so good, so I can understand better if I can read what you have to say about FUE) Thank you for your video, it's really helping me to make the best decision.
vide0gameCaster he's saying get procedure 1 done as FUT. Then a year later get procedure 2 done as FUT too. Then another year later you can get FUE procedures done to "top up" patches. And you can do this every year if you like
I was severely Disfigured years ago with the Punch Graft Method, A Bi Temporal Flap and Scalp reductions and Strip Hair Transplants. Scarring is a problem with Strip methods even with the Tri Closure Method. I had corrective surgery and it took 12 Sessions. All in all I have had 30 yes 30 Surgeries from 1986 to 2010. I wore wigs in the 90s to cover up the Damage. FUE saved me and I do not see strip which was done way back in the 80s as the In Thing anymore. If you can get in writing and have an attorney read it that you will have no noticeable scar again in writing then go ahead. No doctor will guarantee this. They will say well if that scar bothers you you should have stayed bald. Trust me it will bother you so say no to strip. Get a good FUE surgeon and save your scalp. Strip strips your scalp and is no longer a technological advancement. Remember the cars and computers from the 80s? Well strip was around then before the Internet so that should tell you something. As far as density is concerned if you are balding at a young age get on Propecia, Use A minoxodil formula and get PRP treatments done along with using a Lazar light of some sort. Do anything before you get a transplant. Remember that the most successful ones are the ones where men have a lot of donor hair ( large Fringe) around the sides. If not you will never achieve a density that you will like. You will always want more. Been there done that and worked in Hair Replacement for several years. Be very Cautious. If you look at Dr Robert Bernstein who is bald and performs hair transplants that will tell that you must have good donor. He says it does not bother him but makes a very good income selling them. Would you buy a BMW from a Chevy dealer? Of course not unless it is used and you get some sort of warranty. With Hair Transplants you take your chances even with the best Doctors. Yes some are better than others. Mine does not have a legal disclosure but films you before hand on Video to tell you of all the risks and makes not Great Promises either. But he does deliver a great result. However a full head of hair is not possible with theses surgeries and please make sure you ask your Doctor about that. Ask him how the final result will look under bright lights? Sunlight, Coming out of a Swimming Pool. Yes the Hair transplant route can improve you and is way better than being bald but Scarring is a Possibility and please remember that!
I disagree. If you have a great surgeon then the strip is still a viable option. You get so much more hair from a strip and it has a much higher survival rate as well. For people such as myself who are a Norwood 7; getting a strip followed by FUE is a great option to maximize the most hairs to move in one surgery as possible. I have nearly a full head of hair after just one hair transplant procedure. It was much cheaper to do it this way as well.
+charle007farley I haven't kept track actually. I've just had the maximum amount of tissue harvested that my surgeons felt comfortable doing for each surgery. I feel like number of grafts/hairs is not as important as the way the hairs are chopped up and who's doing the chopping. Lots of people have a ton of grafts put in, many die, are chopped up into smaller grafts than necessary, and it all leads to very little coverage. The most important thing is finding a surgeon who has produced great results (that you can prove) in others and then trusting them to do their best work on you. Watch my latest video "10 Questions You MUST Ask Before A Hair Transplant" video if you haven't yet. I think it's my most helpful yet.
Thumb up plus subscription! What is the technique that doctors use nowadays to hide or make the scar almost non visible ? Another concern, i was told by thé doctor that fut saving the donor area is a myth? Hé says skin is pulled down after removing that strip. So the hair above the fut line blongs to the non safe zone or area? Is that correct ? Thanks
David: 1. At 4:31 you refer to FUT as Follicular Unit Transection, but it should be Follicular Unit Transplantation. 2. Many of today's top HT-clinics would not agree in your assessment that starting ones HT-journey with FUE is inferior compared to starting with FUT. 3. Luckily, many top clinics today do not require 4 or 5 surgeries to fulfill acceptable coverage in suitable candidates. 4. Behavior of FUT scar tissue varies from person to person, even in the hands of a qualified surgeon.
+longevitypost.com 1. Ok, but transection actually makes more sense since it's the cutting of a strip of tissue instead of extracting of individual follicles. 2. Maybe, but many would agree with me. I've spoken to manh of the world's top hair surgeons regarding this exact topic and question. 3. The key words being "Suitable candidates" and add "who are willing and able to take Finasteride the rest of their lives" to that 4. Yes, but some surgeons perform better closures than others, and (in the case of my second surgery where I aquired my largest scar) you don't always know the mental state of the person performing surgery on you, so it's important to feel 100% confident in who you choose and have good references.
hi i have a question i reckon i have the norwood 2 hair problem and you say you need more than one procedure? so lets say i have to have 2000 grafts which may cost £3000 so to have another procedure i would have to pay for another amount? or is the £3000 covers all the procedures? till the look is complete?
Well it depends on how much existing hair you have. If you are almost bald then yes you need 2 or 3 surgeries to get it all back - I have thinned out on my temples region but the rest of it is fortunately still okay. I am going in to fill in there areas and I was recommended 2000 grafts. If my balding progressing then yes I may go in for a 2nd surgery.
dude I'm from India I'm just 22 I'm suffering from diffuse hairloss with no hair line recession does transplant works for me? at what age I need transplant?
Usually hair diffuse style loss isn't a good candidate for a transplant If I was you I would get a laser cap like Cappilus and use a concealer like Dermmatch for now instead. You might look into ACELL PRP as well in the future.
After hair transplantation was did doctor suggested you to take any medications?? like Finesteride and minoxidil?? Can you please let me know? If yes how long are you supposed to take these medications. I am ready to pay lots for this but wanna know about the medications.
so applying minoxidil and using finesteride will be life long aftter doing hair transplant? Its not safe to use finesteride thats for sure, it causes permanent impotence.
do you use minoxidil? did you notice any difference in your face? one of my friend says he got hair on his face around his eyes, can it happen? and also if you are using how long have you been using? doesnt your face looks puffy ?
I've been using minox on my beard area since 1 year ago. I didn't have a full beard, due to minx now I do!! I've been using minox in temples area as well, but the results aren't as good as the beard, I can even say, there aren`t any positive result in my temples...
Hi David, you don’t know but your are an inspiration to millions. I wanted to ask that where will u get more hair transplant. Will ur donor area not run out.
So I keep my hair buzzed on the back and I actually have thick hair. I'm considering beard implants but I just need fill ins. Would you recommend FUE then? I'm really concerned about scarring.
+Patrick Broaden I'm not on any medication. Wasn't when I filmed this video, and haven't been in almost a year. It helps a lot though to take finasteride, I just decided the potential side effects weren't worth the risk. Many people do fine with finasteride though.
have you tried Propecia at all? I've only noticed slight receding at my temples, as I'm only 24, but I will admit I'm terrified of some of the side-effects such as depression. I hear the side-effects are very rare and go away if you get off of it, but can you attest to any of this?
+xSol Badguy I was on propecia for a number of years. I think about 5-6yrs I stopped taking it which has definitely lead to a lot more thinning and recession. The potential long-term side effects didn't seem worth the risk to me, bt that said I know tons of guys who take it and seem to be, by far most actually.
Ah, I see. Out of curiosity, have you ever considered wigs? I know some people who are just open about wearing them and have no real shame attached to it, not to mention how incredible they look these days. Would this seem like a more cost efficient strategy you would've ever considered?
That is why I rock a really good system. I looked into surgery and I realized I would never get the density or look I wanted, even with time. Plus the money for all those surgeries and the risk you can continue to go bald, while the transplant surgery hairs stay up front. Nope, but you look nice.
+Patrick OBrien Thanks for sharing. I wish more guys were open about hair systems as well. They can look amazing. I also did a video about HT / System combinations. Some guys will get their hairline transpanted, and wear a system behind it. It's probably the best look of them all in terms of a natural hairline with incredible looking density behind it.
Hey man, im 7 days post FUT. my forhead is still what I would call still rounded, not like ballooning, but still bulbas, not flat yet as my forhead usually is, there is a certain amount of swelling still, should I be concearned yet?
You shouldn't be worried. It will go back to completely normal with more time. Your surgeon probably just use an anesthetic (there are different kinds and ways of using them) that tends to cause a little more swelling so it takes a while for that to drain. Also, make sure you sleep elevated so it can drain.
Thanks man, and thanks for your vids, as I said your videos shaped my entire process of finding my surgeon, ie I had never heard of the ABHRS before your video's, so I looked for one, and I also changed from FUE to FUT because of your video about borrowing from the future by having the less scary FUE. Any way im so bloody happy, I havnt got any scabbing or anything crusty yet, If I didnt know better id say the hair is already growing 1 week out as they were really spikey, now they are kinda a bit longer and floppy, definatly longer than after surgery..... anyway thanks, you helped me get a better result without a doubt.
You said it'd take 2 or 3 hts over the course of years to achieve good density. But that doesn't make sense if all you need is to plug the corners and small area in the front. Can you explain that?
You're not looking at all the potentials of what will probably happen. Yes, if you only have very minimal hair loss one surgery might be plenty. If you're 50 or 60 years old and you've lost most of what you will lose and you just want to create a slightly better hairline one surgery might be plenty, but if you're younger then you will most likely continue to lose more of your hair and need to fill in more space requiring multiple surgeries. If you go on Finasteride this could somewhat be prevented, but then you take all the risks associated with Finasteride and dependance on it. It's all a bit of a gamble. Just better to make a smart well informed gamble.
David DiMuzio Ok that makes more sense. In other words, as you grow older you'll start to lose native hair over the course of time which will require additional surgeries to cover those lost hairs.
What about if you regularly get fades? I'm still choosing to do FUE because I don't really have that much noticeable hairloss. I have the kind of skin that leaves scars that don't normally go away unless I apply lemon juice on it and I fear it will leave bruises. My hairline is still straight, but from the crown to the front theres a weird "path" of hair loss that goes through the middle of my head, like female pattern baldness. My hair doesn't even part. It becomes somewhat visible right after a haircut. The consultant told me 1000 grafts will fix it.
Cool, sounds like yours is a different type of scenario. Just be careful if you're still quite young and your dad is pretty bald. Will end up being you as well most likely.
What if it’s been 8 months and the hair looks like 5% growth? And the doctor is not offering an alternative and keeps saying to wait a year which puts you out of the window to sue for medical malpractice?
if i will do a fue transplant could i still keep short trimmed hair at the back or it will apper visible scars in the back...i like to keep hair at the back maximum 3 mm long?
If you want to keep your hair 3mm in the back I don't suggest getting FUE done either. There is still scaring from FUE. Guys send me pictures all the time of horrible scaring they got from FUE.
That's actually how this FUE method works. In FUT method, however, they cut (yes, they cut) a slice with hair from the back of your head, put these grafts on it to where you want them to be (back of your head, hairline etc.) and then stitch the skin in the back of your head back normal. It's very nasty looking and leaves a big scar.
Why did your grafts begin to thin? These follicles are supposed to be DHT resistant. Did they just fail to connect to a blood supply or what? I had FUE for receded hairline on 4th June. I removed the scabs on 9th day post surgery, and the initial results looked amazing, but a month in I'm going through a significant shock shed phase. I really hope my transplant hasnt failed and all of the grafts return to anagen phase over the coming months.
There is a huge misconception that donor hair is DHT proof. It is generally more DHT resistant, but it is not always DHT proof. Hair thins and miniaturizes all over the head over time on most guys affected by male pattern baldness. Look at a very old guy's hair. Most likely it's also a bit thinner even where the hair still is.
The initial follicles will shed after the transplant, this is a good thing. The author of this posting should’ve already known this! Any reputable hair transplant surgeon would surely tell you that!
@@jameswilson9057 It did come back very quickly, but there are cases I came across in which the hair did not regrow after the shock shed phase. That was my initial concern back in the day.
Use hair systems, no surgery required, costs less and immediate hair. Those surgeries won’t allow you to use very short haire on the sides and back, everyone will see the scar.
Do it in Turkey. First large scale one then do a another with focus on hairline. Much cheaper than in US. You have to see references though before anything. But it's not gonna make your hair as thick as it was when you were a teenager. No surgery in the world can do that. But it will definitely cover up the baldness. I know several people who had done it in Turkey and Thailand.
snake1mi which clinics in turkey? I got 2900 grafts from Dr. Ayan at GetFue 2 months ago 24-9-16 so can see small results as used PRP therapy too. But waiting for 6 months. And 12 months to see final thing. This was my first major scale transplant. Additional top ups will be required
NEWSFLASH: drafts in India are less than $2, compared to $9 in the U.S. -- Tons of competition and reviews from American clients. A round trip from the U.S. Is around 500 so think how much hair you can get. Google it!
English is official language in India I think. Btw I would recommend Turkey for hair transplant. Check out COSMEDICA ,Dr Acar . Check here www.whatclinic.com/
+cforchange1 The two surgeons I've used haven't charged by the graft, they've charge by the square inch of tissue. There are two schools of thought on this method. In many ways it's better not to charge on a per-graft basis because it encourages surgeons to split up the hairs into smaller grafts which leads to more grafts but less density. On the other hand there are negatives to charging per-square inch of flesh as well because if a surgeon is greedy he might go lower than he should outside of the "safe-zone" in order to get more tissue in one surgery which means more money for that surgeon. I'm going to do another video soon on what to look out for when choosing a surgeon. There's a lot of behind the scenes stuff people need to be aware of so that they know the right questions to ask and proof to see before using a surgeon.
I have a question on the FUT vs FUE. I've receded into an M hairline but not at all bald my hair pretty thick on sides and even on top. I don't like my new hairline at all it REALLY bothers me because of that M lol. I really doubt I would need 2 or 3 surgeries because what I am looking for is basically a restoration of the hairline in the front, not the top or back of my head. But will doing the FUT still be better Vs FUE? I imagine when' I'm 80 years old the baldness will show on top but by then I wouldn't care😆
Could be, it depends mostly on your current age. If you're already 50 and just don't like your hairline you could probably get away with just having FUE. If you're 25 it's a little more of a risk. Also depends on your hair thickness. Thick dark ropy hair like a lot of works great with FUE. More thin fine lighter type hair is not a good match for FUE in the majority of circumstances.
Do you know the best method for reducing the appearance of a 2-3" vertical scar near the upper right on the back of the head? Maybe it's best to leave it alone?
Please help. im 27 i am thinking of doing Hairtransplant cause my hair are rly thin and lost some from theroid. I have been to 2 clinics and 1 suggest FUE and the other FUT as the best option :(. Its rly costly and im not rich ...so i just have 1 chance at this ;( what should i go for? FUT? or FUE? :( i am worried about a big scar in case i shave my head in the future (if my hair transplat sosnt look like i like) :(
Hi David. I have recently had a transplant with dr Path in Thailand. He recommended i use oral minixodil as i am not willing to take finastrade. What is ur opinion on oral minoxidil? Can oral minoxidil have any sex drive side affects as finastride does?
I used Dr. Daniel McGrath for my last (third) surgery. I highly recommend him. I had a different surgeon for my first two surgeries, but a bad experience with him on my second so I wouldn't personally recommend him any long. I just used laser after my third surgery and it's all I've used since. My latest hair upload is all about preventative hair loss treatments. I go through all I've tried and my experiences with them. You should check it out :)

Yes very expensive 6-12 k per procedure…but it works….you’ll definitely see the difference and a difference for life
People over think this. My God people, this procedure gets done thousands of times a day all over the world. I had 2024 grafts move from the back tot he front. 300 of them went to my crown. Now I have hair...done
Lewis Wray can you after a surgery still grow your hair long without problems like if you would comb your hair when it's long that you don pull everything out
do you have to take finasteride after the surgery to keep the hair?
Lewis Wray , I would like to know the new hair doesn't fall due to that dht thing, ty
Lewis Wray It always means you get thick, staggered hair at the fringe instead of dense, thin hair which is natural
Glad you have thousands of dollars just lying around for hair
Worked for me so good for me....
I am researching a lot about hair transplant nowadays.Fut gives better results, less laborious etc. I don't understand why so many plastic surgeons have stopped performing Fut and switched entirely to Fue.
Because FUT is harder to market and less sexy due to the fact there is slicing of flesh and a linear scar.
@@DavidDiMuzio Also because even the top surgeons realize they can squeeze more patients with FUE since a skilled technician can extract grafts unlike FUT.
@@anthonym9130 That too!
It is because they make more money with FUE. Period!
3 surgeries and thinking about 2 more....this guy has body dismorphia
These have got to be the best videos on hair transplants.
Lies again? Bio Tin Porn Hub
I have had 3 FUE procedures and I have to say you are wrong about the donor area ... of course there is density lost but ultimately we want hair at the top and not at the back .... a good FUE extraction should look good even after 3 sessions ... and also I would do anything before having that tissue removed from the back were I have heard cases of tension on the scalp ... mmmm I don't think so Thanks you
No good surgeon should leave a patient with scalp tension that persists after FUT.
You are so right.
U may have scars …but no one will ever know except ur barber…unless you have a crew cut or something very short
FUE is miles better than FUT, I've seen alot of FUT transplants with hardly any results and leaves a horrible scar for life. Why would you even want to go that route???
spoken like someone who truly has no idea what theyre talking about
FUT has a lot of benefits that are not mentioned enough
- FUT can more more hairs *succesfully* than FUE and your donor area is a limination that even money can not beat. FUE has a lower survival rate of hairs.
- FUT does less harm to your donor area, as there is only a scar in 1 location. FUE leaves scars everywhere and makes the whole area less healthy, which has a negative effect on other hairs in these areas. The last thing you want to do is damage the area you're harvesting from
- Most doctors will say FUE is better because they only do FUE, as it's a precedure that's cheap and time effective to learn. Of course they're going to promote FUE if its their only option
- It is easier to succesfully cut away the skin around the hair roots with a strip and a microscope than harvesting the hair with root succesfully on your head.
What is also good to try to eat food which is high in zinc, which are:
- Red meat (by preference beef)
- Oysters (high in zinc too)
I'm currently taking an oyster supplement. FOrgot the brand cause I'm not home if you're intersted.. (high in zinc and it's natural form is usually bes absorbed by hte body)
Basically there are 2 main minerals who are connected to male and female hormones. Zinc is the male hormone, which increases testosterone (in a healthy manner) and it's counterpart is Cupper, which increases estrogen. Cupper is higher in plant based food and zinc higher in any sort of animal food (like oysters, farm animals etc). So avoid food that is high in cupper, cause it will increase your estrogens and to balance that out your body will produce DHT to balance it out (so your average male hormones are still high enough to prevent your hormones from becoming girly)
Men typically expreience less little ilnesses in their life like chornic ilness than women, due to higher tstosterone". Food like Soy is very estrogen promoting for example (no surprise to have so many transgenders in asia)
Also try taking a *Dessicated Liver supplement* (like the brand *Ancestral* ).
1:30 three surgeries?! Fk that I’m shaving my head.
David thanks for sharing your knowledge, it's really unwrapped many things.
This is the most honest video on the internet related to hair loss.
+David DiMuzio Thanks so much, bro! I was watching some of your juggling videos too btw...amazing! I wish I had that kind of talent.
I'm glad I'm black so if I get bald it doesn't look as bad lol.
He's a basket ball player. That's different. It's either you got a line or shave it.
My dad his bald but not really. He just shaves his head. He chooses too.
My balls are bald, but not really because the hair grew back?
Yes. If they had no hair at one point yes.
Yes. If they had no hair at one point yes.
+David DiMuzio Transplanted follicles shouldn't be vulnerable to DHT. Where would you be on the Norwood scale without the transplants?
i was pure blonde.. my hair was beautiful, i had girls.. and now i'm 18 and in bald
sorry for your loss bro
I feel your pain. I went through the same exact thing.
I feel you, 20 And my receding hairline is Insane.. Sucks When you had A Really Social life full of girls
lol. im the same, i went vald at 18 and now i have 23. The girls wont look at me anymore, i had lots of beautiful girls but now im just fucked
Fuck yeah, i had sexy as hair. Done up real nice. Pulled girls easy. Now im basicly bald. Nobody wants to even know me lol. Having no hair sux.
David DiMuzio: Thank you for the information. My husband wants to get this done who are the top four surgeons for this type of procedure.
David DiMuzio in Europe everyone does FUE
I’ve heard of no one since 2010 who has done any other method
I consider this best free consultation
I really wish I could do this for my husband. he is so upset that he's so young and loosing so much hair. no way we could afford multiple surgeries 5-10k a pop 😢
If you’re willing to fly out to Turkey you’re looking at about $2,000 dollars for the procedure plus another $2,000 for the airplane ticket. You’ll spend about $4,000 in total for everything.
Just tell him to shave his head. Give him the confidence to do so. I started shaving my head when I was 28
It costs 2k in Turkey and there are some good clinics there
I see some scumbags here are commenting bulshits, just ignore them please.
Your all points make so much sense.. Thanks.
You're welcome :)
Hi. First of all, I really enjoyed your videos. Thanks!I just had my first FUT done on 10/13/16. I am curious, how long will it take for me to start noticing hair growth? I'm excited and cant wait! I HOPE mine turns out as good as yours.
Usually you'll start seeing hair start to grow at around 3 months. That's the average time.
Nice, ya it has been the best thing I have ever done. Next to lasik :)!
what about medication after the surgery? I heard that doctors tell you to take Propecia (finasteride) but I wouldn't like to take that thing. It's recomendable still to make transplant if you are not willing to take that medication? thank you!
Jhonatan Rojas even I have the same doubt bro..what's ur decision now...r u Taking?
Can you tell me how much it cost you?
What age where you when you had the procedure?
What clinic you went to?
I've just had my fourth done over 7 years 🙃
Hi David, I have to disagree with your comments on this video.
Correct. I had FUE as well. In Iran. FUT is not actually considered to be a modern method.
FUT is still a currently accepted method that is preferred for candidates with a lot of hair loss. It is also generally cheaper than FUE. FUE leaves scars, just like FUT.
Do you recommend Nizoral for hair loss? or will it do more harm than good.
Question, how many grafts can be use used from the back of the head before light spots occur, I heard and read 8,000....ect?
That all depends on the density of your donor area. With some you will start to notice after 3000grafts, in others it can be way more than 8000 before you notice anything.
You said you did your research and looked at different transplant doctors across U.S. Have you heard about Restore by Dr. Katona? He's considered to be the best in Chicago area... but... I think performing only FUE method right now (my hair is dark brown and kinda thick so maybe I can get away with FUE method only). Also, why did you select Dr McGrath? What was the deciding factor? There are several good doctors out there I would assume. Do you live in Austin, TX?
You have to take any medications/shampoos after the transplant?
If yes, what are their side effects?
+Guiding Light I don't personally use any special medications or shampoos.
David DiMuzio hi. how many hairs can a person have transplanted in a lifetime and how many have you had yourself?
Will hair grow if we don't take any medication..in India my doctor says that finasteride can make hair growth 100% ..But I don't wanna take that one...
Does the top of your scalp feel stiff after the three surgeries?
David how can I contact you ? I have just had my transplant surgery to fix front hairline. I wanna show you some photos and read your feedback.
There are two surgeons that
are highly regarded in the use of body hair. One is Dr Tejinder Bhattia
he is in India. The other is Dr Sanusi Umar in the United States.
Research them and you will see what can be done.
what about PRP as it does not involve any removal of scalp hair or any other hair from body, seems like it is pretty safe produure and more effective than FUT and FUE
Plus Minoxidil is efficient enough for hair restoration as long as it is used hair will regrow
Would you consider getting SMP into your crown to add visual density?
I envy this guy. His hair looks freakin amazing.
3:19...nope
Hi. how much you paid for all three surgeries?
Around $30K USD total.
thanks for the information, can you share how did you manage your daily life after the surgery. considering the professional commitments. thanks
+Vikas Sharma Wasn't a long recovery process. You can watch the video documenting every day after in one video here on my channel.
Sorry I didn't understand the FUE part.
Is it better to do it after a surgery, before a surgery, after multiple surgeries?
(My english understanding is not so good, so I can understand better if I can read what you have to say about FUE)
Thank you for your video, it's really helping me to make the best decision.
vide0gameCaster he's saying get procedure 1 done as FUT. Then a year later get procedure 2 done as FUT too. Then another year later you can get FUE procedures done to "top up" patches. And you can do this every year if you like
Hello, is it possible to know where the hair transplant was done? thanks from Italy.
Dr. Daniel McGrath in Austin, TX.
@@DavidDiMuzio thank you so much for your message ❤️
Wow you got a good donor if you can do that much
Hi David, some great videos and info there.
How many grafts have you had altogether including hairs etc.
Many Thanks. Charlie.
Does the transplanted hair fall out like your original hair did ?
+matty towey No, it doesn't.
Best thing I ever did was get a transplant. Hopefully my daily video updates of my fue will change your mind or other people's :)
Let me see
Thumb up plus subscription!
Thanks
David:
+MrBiNokULars You'd pay each time with every doctor I've ever heard of.
Well it depends on how much existing hair you have. If you are almost bald then yes you need 2 or 3 surgeries to get it all back - I have thinned out on my temples region but the rest of it is fortunately still okay. I am going in to fill in there areas and I was recommended 2000 grafts. If my balding progressing then yes I may go in for a 2nd surgery.
how much was it? status update?
Friends I recommend t.co/9VFzRMP2Wd Because I tried this hair growth program and its really works for me…Recommended to all
surely the hair on the back and or sides is getting thinner as you thicken it on top?
dude I'm from India I'm just 22 I'm suffering from diffuse hairloss with no hair line recession does transplant works for me? at what age I need transplant?
Usually hair diffuse style loss isn't a good candidate for a transplant If I was you I would get a laser cap like Cappilus and use a concealer like Dermmatch for now instead. You might look into ACELL PRP as well in the future.
is it necessary for one to shave the head if you want to get a transplant done?
After hair transplantation was did doctor suggested you to take any medications?? like Finesteride and minoxidil?? Can you please let me know? If yes how long are you supposed to take these medications. I am ready to pay lots for this but wanna know about the medications.
of course,,u need to apply minoxdil or other medicine..or else you will definetly lose your hair,,
so applying minoxidil and using finesteride will be life long aftter doing hair transplant?
Its not safe to use finesteride thats for sure, it causes permanent impotence.
I meant a minoxidil,or other medicine,,not finansterid,,
do you use minoxidil? did you notice any difference in your face? one of my friend says he got hair on his face around his eyes, can it happen? and also if you are using how long have you been using? doesnt your face looks puffy ?
I've been using minox on my beard area since 1 year ago. I didn't have a full beard, due to minx now I do!! I've been using minox in temples area as well, but the results aren't as good as the beard, I can even say, there aren`t any positive result in my temples...
Hi David, who did your first and second surgeries please? Thanks.
Hi David, you don’t know but your are an inspiration to millions. I wanted to ask that where will u get more hair transplant. Will ur donor area not run out.
Thanks. If I have more surgery in the future I still have some donor hair left.
So I keep my hair buzzed on the back and I actually have thick hair. I'm considering beard implants but I just need fill ins. Would you recommend FUE then? I'm really concerned about scarring.
For a beard implant usually FUE is the way to go. I know the most recent surgeon I used Dr. Daniel McGrath does a lot of beard implants as well.
+David DiMuzio thanks for the quick reply and advice!
hey....if i decrease my hair line lower.....will the transplanted hair still fall off in time?.....if so how many days will it stay....
Hey, great video, very Informative. You said you had a hair transplant, are you on any type of medication?
+Patrick Broaden I'm not on any medication. Wasn't when I filmed this video, and haven't been in almost a year. It helps a lot though to take finasteride, I just decided the potential side effects weren't worth the risk. Many people do fine with finasteride though.
+David DiMuzio ok, thanks and good luck lu
Hey, did you also get a transplant FUE/FUT for your facial hair meaning beard?
I did not.
have you tried Propecia at all?
Any way im so bloody happy, I havnt got any scabbing or anything crusty yet, If I didnt know better id say the hair is already growing 1 week out as they were really spikey, now they are kinda a bit longer and floppy, definatly longer than after surgery..... anyway thanks, you helped me get a better result without a doubt.
getting a hair transplant with oily skin is right or wrong?
+Col Bashir As far as I know it doesn't matter, ask a surgeon you respect though.
Correct.
David DiMuzio Thanks David.. btw, who do you think are the best ht docs? I've read abt Hasson & Wong, True & Dorin, Bernstein and Rahal.
Your hairline looks great!!!
Great video, how short can you cut your hair wig FUT
Hairline looks pretty good and I'm assuming your barber or your beautician could identify the flaws if any
Where did you get your surgery?
My last surgery was done by Dr. Daniel McGrath in Austin, TX.
what about artas ,I heard is a robot for hair transplant and it helps to avoid all those problems do you know anything about it ?
Artas is mostly marketing bull-shit. For most people it's not a good option when getting a hair transplant.
if i will do a fue transplant could i still keep short trimmed hair at the back or it will apper visible scars in the back...i like to keep hair at the back maximum 3 mm long?
If you want to keep your hair 3mm in the back I don't suggest getting FUE done either. There is still scaring from FUE. Guys send me pictures all the time of horrible scaring they got from FUE.
How does this work? Do they just pull a hair with the root and push it in your scalp in another place?
thischannel ohh fuckin A!! cool shit!
*top of your head
so does your hair grow out good? like if you wanted to do a slick back undercut would you be able to do it with your current hair?
+injecta999 i'm not really sure what a slick back undercut haircut is, but I can grow my hair is long as I want
i mean like is it the same texture of hair you had before?
@@DavidDiMuzioyou sir are full of bs. Wow, just, no, man, stop please?!
@@jameswilson9057 It did come back very quickly, but there are cases I came across in which the hair did not regrow after the shock shed phase. That was my initial concern back in the day.
Hi David, did you try Minoxidil 5 before considering sugery ? Does it worked ?
I've used Minoxidil in the past. I'm not a fan of it.
Use hair systems, no surgery required, costs less and immediate hair. Those surgeries won’t allow you to use very short haire on the sides and back, everyone will see the scar.
Not that hard to conceal the scar people often can tell when you are wearing a hair piece and it accelerates hair loss on the crown
Additional top ups will be required
very helpful video
i am still researching a hair transplant but this sure help
thank you David
Do you have any video about how to deal with the rash after surgery? I pulled half of my transplanted hair out as the rash was unbearable.
That's awful, I didn't experience any rash.
NEWSFLASH: drafts in India are less than $2, compared to $9 in the U.S. -- Tons of competition and reviews from American clients. A round trip from the U.S. Is around 500 so think how much hair you can get. Google it!
Julio Gerame I don't speak Indian do they speak English over there?
English is official language in India I think. Btw I would recommend Turkey for hair transplant. Check out COSMEDICA ,Dr Acar . Check here www.whatclinic.com/
More English speakers there than here.
Was wondering how many grafts have you had in total so far? Thanks
Hey. What's the name of the 3rd Dr and where is he located?
Hello ...
I am little bit confuse about to know that your 1 strip I think quite lower... it is right...???
great information thanks bro!
Have you used toppik or any other product? Your hair looks very thick..
No toppik or concealer used in this video, but yes, I've used in concealers in the past and in some videos.
More thin fine lighter type hair is not a good match for FUE in the majority of circumstances.
im curios when u your bold and get a hairtransplant is there a limit on how long your new set of hair could grow
Do you know the best method for reducing the appearance of a 2-3" vertical scar near the upper right on the back of the head? Maybe it's best to leave it alone?
What would an average cost be?
What I do not understand is why, each time, you took another surgeon.
Were they all that bad?
They are all bald 🤣
I would suggest doing what your doctor says. He is an excellent surgeon.
Dave can an fut strip be reharvested or do u have to get a new strip each time? And thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me😊
I ask because in this video u said they can open up the scar again... meaning more hair from the same strip in a second surgery?
@david Dimuzio were you prescribed finasteride after the procedure ? & did you go to bosely or a different company ?
Thank you for replying. & I expanded afterwards & saw that you do not take finasteride. Is that doctor a bosely doctor in NY ?
Contact info and location of the surgeon that does the scar reduction?
Dr. Daniel McGrath. The contact info for Steve Cook who is the patient consultant who works in his office is in the video description of this video :)
