I didn't take any vitamins at that time, I always thought it because of the puberty then coz of pregnancy, but after 20years I have made a blood test. It has shown that i have very low d3 and iron. My daughter started also lose her hair at the age of 10,and the doctors say that her blood test is excellent. My theory on why Vitamin D works to stop hair loss is due to Calcium. Vitamin D increases the absorption of Calcium by 20x. I took 10,000 IU per day for 5 months and it did nothing. Its only when i started increasing my calcium intake that my hair stopped shedding. Calcium is imperative for healthy hair growth as : It aids hormone and enzyme secretion, including biotin enzymes and androgen hormones responsible for healthy hair growth. It also helps in absorption of iron which is strongly associated with healthy hair.
@@Toronto4evr you shouldn’t be really supplementing calcium unless you show that you are calcium deficient on your blood test. A healthy diet gives sufficient amounts of the calcium our body needs any excess will end up in places you don’t want calcium to go to like your arteries. That’s why we have to take K2 and Magnesium to make sure the Calcium goes into our bones and not anywhere else. Lot of doctors are stepping back from prescribing calcium as our diet these days is plentiful in calcium. Any excess of any vitamin is not good except for vitamin D3.
@@giorgioarmani1234 Absolutely, you're right. I had dark circles under my eyes and worse sleep from caffeine. Quitting isn't easy at first, but the body adjusts relatively quickly.
Dutasteride (every other day) helped me immensely. It suppresses DHT way better than finasteride. Most (if not all) other posted "solutions" online are fake solutions and will keep you guessing and rebuying stuff. I even tried Dr Berg's hair oil (!) That did absolutely nothing for me.
I read that zinc inhibits magnesium absorption but do your own research, may want to have intervals between the two minerals, I take mag supplement in morning and zinc in evening...
So, I've been losing my hair this year and no Dr's know why (also have lost 40lbs in 4mth and can't gain wt. I had to wo 24x7 to keep my weight down before this year). Same symptoms here. Mine turned out to be hyperthyroidism brought on by overuse of iodine supplement (Biote) which was 8333% of my RDA of potassium iodide… took me three years to return to balance.
Sudden weight loss always makes hair loss greater. It’s a shock to the system. It’s happened to me every time but once the weight loss became more regular then the hair loss slowed down drastically.
Lab Results: • B12: 1667 • Magnesium: 2.3 • Vitamin D: 109.0 • Ferritin: 162 My B12 has always been high, even though I’ve never taken B12 supplements. I was anemic for many years, which I believe contributed to significant hair loss. After reaching menopause, the anemia resolved, and my hair loss stopped. Based on these results, I decided to stop taking vitamin D3. However, once I stopped, the hair loss issues returned. I suspect that stopping vitamin D3 might be the cause of the hair loss returning. I thought the body would maintain adequate levels for some time after stopping, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. What do you think, based on these lab results?
My hair is getting better since I have increased d3andk2 as you have advised. Today according to your explanation I understand more my problems. I am deeply grateful your information .
As a fellow health UA-camr, I just wanted to commend you on this insightful video, Dr. Berg! The connection between vitamin D and autoimmune diseases, particularly in relation to hair loss, is often overlooked in discussions about hair health. It's fascinating how many people are unaware that hair follicles are living structures and that their health is influenced by various nutrients. Your emphasis on the importance of the right blood tests to identify deficiencies is crucial. Many individuals may not realize that conditions like alopecia can be linked to nutrient imbalances, and your video sheds light on this important aspect. Additionally, I appreciate your mention of magnesium's role in enzyme function related to hair health. It’s a reminder that a holistic approach to nutrition can significantly impact our overall well-being, including hair growth. For anyone watching, I encourage you to not only consider the tests mentioned but also to consult with a healthcare professional to interpret results accurately. Thank you for sharing this valuable information, and I look forward to more content that empowers viewers to take charge of their health!

VERY helpful video! I’ve always assumed that hair shedding was normal but perhaps the amount I have shedded my entire life isn’t and just never realized it. You’re almost 60 with a healthy head of dark hair. You definitely know what you’re talking about by example. I know childhood classmates that started having receding hairlines in their late 20s and 30s. My dad has been trying to grow back hair in the center of his head. So far he has grown some back naturally. He hopes to grow back more. My mom is starting to reverse some hair loss naturally as well with hair vitamins. I will definitely share this video with them. 🙂
The most potent sunlight in India (I am talking with respect to Mumbai) is around afternoon from 11am until 4pm when the UV index can reach as high as 10 and be sustained for a couple of hours or so. Half an hour of daily exposure of your limbs and face to this light will produce enough vitamin D.
Ultimately you have gone to the top of our body and the hair. Thanks for choosing it as one who is bald makes some people getting discouraged. So kind of you💯🌹
Oh wow, i think that's it. this calcification been happening to me the past 6 years, and doctors were giving all sort of chemical shampoos. Also I been losing my hair the past few years, and I'm barely on the sun. It kind of all check out :D Thank you so much!!
@@bmwsincekid well in my case i think i got too much Calcium, so need to balance it out with Magmesium (min 500mg) . And magnasium will also help with D3 absorption. One more mineral you need to keep an eye on is, copper, you need 1 to 2 mg a day, if you take zinc supplements, look for ones that have copper, they often come together, that is if your multivitamin doesn't already have a high 2mg amount. get the combos, D3 with K2 if you can find one with Magnesium that would be good, glycinate, or taurinate versions are good types. Zinc with copper
I started losing all my hair slowly at 18, and I'm much older now, so I was virtually bald when I started using a laser comb on combination with 10,000 IU vitamin d3 daily and the difference is shocking. My hair isn't falling out in clumps anymore, it is staying longer and filling in all over my scalp. I had forgotten how much hair I used to have because it's been almost 30 yrs since I've had it! Listen to Dr. Berg, he KNOWS what he's talking about and he is the reason I had an avenue of recourse for my alopecia (yes I was professionally diagnosed by a doctor). I'm heartbroken but also relieved that my hair falling is over and I should have included iron from the beginning. Now I'm hoping for hair regrowth.

Im 45 and i just started to see a receding hairline. I think its genetics but it may have to do with nutrition and stress levels. My father went through quimio for 20+ years but never experienced hairloss. When I loss blood and became an anemic my hair broke off.And when my iron level increase my hair started growing again. I respect the dr and Iam sure there is truth to what he is saying, but my hair stop from low iron and it was said that I had too much d3 in my system. I took 10,000 iu every day. That was my experience.
There are a whole host of factors that go into every system in our bodies. Many times we are deficient in one aspect in relationship to a specific system. So in your case, iron was playing a role in your hair loss. I don't think taking vit d3 daily had anything to do with your issue. Vit D3 is vital in preventing a whole cascade of issues from alopecia to cancer to osteoporosis. But we cannot rely solely upon the reported blood levels, because it is in 2 very different systems.
This is for people who are deficient in vitamin D 3 and k2. If you’re not, obviously there are other factors and other vitamins/minerals that should be considered. But since so many are deficient in vitamin D3, k2 this is definitely something to consider.
@@komaldaryani3885 in the original poster's comments state that they were experiencing hair loss from anemia due to low iron levels. So replacing the iron restored their hair. I think the supplementation of Vit D3 was not the cause of their hair loss. The lack of iron was.

Well my advice is try it. You might get your follicles restarted. I will caution that any natural treatment that gets to the heart of the issue, usually will take months to render a verdict. Patience is a virtue in this case. I might also add massage therapy to your scalp because it increases blood flow to your skin, allowing more of the magnesium, vit d, and other cofactors like zinc to be transported to your skin that's being massaged. Besides that, massage usually feels good, 😉 what have you got to lose? A few dollars in supplementation?
@@jeniferjohnson374 by taking vit D3 and magnesium as outlined in the video. I know that once I started taking Vit D3, my nails grew faster and stronger, and my hair was far more resilient. It stopped breaking off, and became stretchier. I have always had baby fine hair and it's never been overly dense, but taking vit d3 has helped. My thoughts on the regime that Dr. Berg suggests with both Vit D3 and magnesium is that if calcification can kill or reduce blood flow to the follicle, then removing the calcium should resolve the issue. Magnesium will supplant calcium and force it back into the bones and other places it's truly needed. So removing the calcium from the hair follicle and the surrounding skin, should increase the blood flow. then the body can use the stem cells to repair the damaged follicle, resulting in hair growth.
Dr berg thank you. So much for this video my hair became so thin to a point my scalp is showing. when I started menstruating at the of 13 that’s where my hair started to fall cause of to much loss of blood. All these years I didn’t treat my low iron deficiency 😓

ChatGPT is strongly against taking 10k units (not to mention 20k units) of vitamin D daily: While sun exposure can lead to the body producing large amounts of vitamin D, it doesn't work in the same way as taking supplements. Your body has a natural regulation mechanism that prevents it from producing excessive vitamin D from the sun. So even if you're in the sun for long periods, your body will only produce as much vitamin D as it needs, then stop. In contrast, supplements don't have this natural limit, which is why taking too much vitamin D in supplement form can lead to toxicity. Spending a lot of time outdoors isn't harmful in terms of vitamin D production, as your body self-regulates. However, you should still take precautions to avoid sunburn and overexposure to UV rays, which can increase the risk of skin cancer.

Majority of male pattern baldness and hair loss is genetic, no matter how much vit D or sun you get won’t fix that. Also large amounts of Vit D in pill form raise hematocrit when on TRT, requiring phlebotomies, and when to frequent lowers ferritin. So yes there are some side effects.

Please share how you consume calcium.? Thanks
@@rvo3333 Dairy is the easiest way to add more calcium to your diet. Milk, cheese and yogurt are great sources.

Lab Results:
• B12: 1667
• Magnesium: 2.3
• Vitamin D: 109.0
• Ferritin: 162
My B12 has always been high, even though I’ve never taken B12 supplements.

Do u still take iron supplement for iron increase??

Great input, thanks for sharing your thoughts here!
@@denisegaylord382how do you restart your follicles?

Watch Dr Bergs video.on "toxic" Vit D levels, then you will br able to.see

What type of Magnesium for hair loss?? Thanks!
I will say magnesium glycinate.
Take magnesium complex but avoid magnesium oxide
Between the following, which one should we get?
1. Citrate Mag (Magnesium Citrate)
2. Glycinate Mag (Magnesium Glycinate)
3. Threonate Mag (Magnesium L-Threonate)
I recommend magnesium glycinate.
You did a great job, thank you for sharing such valuable health knowledge. I really like your presentation style - simple yet engaging!
Glad to know that you liked this post!
I don’t normally comment but now have to! It’s been 3 weeks using D3 (5000 iu) and magnesium (250mg) my inflammation and my hair fall reduced by 90% truly a GAME CHANGER.
I was suffering from hair thinning from past 5 years. I wish i got to know it early but its never too late.
If someone reading this and have same problem like hairfall inflammation and eczema give it a try u will never regret it. ❤
Amazing. I'm very happy for you. Thanks for sharing your experience here.
After breaking out in hives due to taking a cheap Vitamin D3 product, I found a Vitamin D pill I can take that's not loaded with fillers. I've been taking just Vitamin D every night for a week and my hair loss tonight decreased by 90% and i see a bitbof hair growth at my temples!
Tomorrow I will purchase a magnesium supplement. Hopefully my progress will continue without any allergic reactions.
THANK YOU for dropping such quality knowledge. I plan to nerd out on your channel.

Great to hair! 😊
Yes but near the end of the video he says D will inhibit DHT’s attack on the follicle which would stop the male pattern baldness from happening.
Hair loss is not genetic 100 years ago nobody had hair loss
