Wow! That tiger looks like a photograph! I got some of these markers on clearance at Hobby Lobby recently and just tested them today. You can blend them if you gesso your paper too!
I love your art work and all your videos have helped me with my art. I just started doing art again after 15 years to help me with my depression, I have a long way to go to be half as good as you. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge and talents with your viewer's. You are amazing!!!
damn girl you single handedly convinced me to give these markers another try. a year ago i bought practically the whole collection and when i actually sat down to use them i realized i had no skills. this video made me believe again xD
I bought the 36 set and am already addicted to them, just ordering the remaining colours. I have tried these on foam board (brilliantly) Very cheap wax paper, (freezer paper, the matt side) Imagine a 10m mural of these?, I am also trialing them on ceramic tiles and coating in resin, one other way I have seen is using the reverse of ordinary marker paper (Windsor and Newtons own) I am just a rooky but started using alcohol markers for rendering Architectural work. I love these markers just buy a small set and try them on different substrates, they definitely do not work on absorbent papers/card unless it is Gessoed or Gelled. Hope this helps in addition to your comments? I love all your work and your enthusiasm - Thank you for showing me how it's done.
You know, I wonder if their marker paper would be better if we mounted it to another board before starting or if it would still warp badly. I must experiment! lol
Another amazing video - great review on these markers and thanks, Lisa. Question: Would you recommend spraying the finished pieces with matte spray of some sort, just to make sure no water hits/damages it?
What about spraying the finished pieces with a spray fixative (for pencils and markers) and a spray varnish to protect against accidental surface damage (water or scratches)
Beautiful Tiger Lisa! But in my case, I'm afraid to use this marker, because of the mess when you start the ilustration, and blend with the blender marker, and having to use other materials for blending...I don't know, I think I'm going to be desperate and crazy when I see this mess, and I don't know how to fix it 😂 but is good to see other alternatives like this markers, it looks so great!
Hello great video really helpful thanks. Apart from YUPO paper can you recommend another? It’s VERY expensive! Just 10 sheets costs £30. Thanks again ❤️
I've got a question? When these markers dry are they permanent? I don't recall u mentioning that. Btw I love your art & your videos. Thank you so much for posting. I hope u have a wonderful day!! 😊
Have you tried styrene sheets or stone paper? i've found they really take wetness well even if watercolor and such doesn't really work on them (like the yupo paper). Do you think if the w&n paper is mounted on a sturdier surface before, i'd work better or just warp even worse. I'm trying to find alternatives since i can't get yupo where i'm from :) also do they smudge like dry media when you run your hand over them? like a sweaty side of the hand while working
I am surprised you haven't tried the faber castell pitt markers. Especially since you seem to like a lot of their products. They are light fast and don't bleed much- at least that is what they advertise. Im hoping to get a 60 piece set for Christmas this year.
Great video, thanks. Have you tried these markers on primed canvas? I've read that it is a really nice surface for these for blending and is good for lightfastness so you'd be able to sell originals... Just wondering if you've had experience with this and can confirm as I'm currently still testing this possibility. Thanks
I have bought several of these but more because the Winsor & Newton markers had more variety in colours than Copics but it wasn't until recently that I realized that they work best on their marker paper. Watching this helped me a lot and is getting me interested in actually going to use these on the right kind of paper. I probably would have to buy the Yupo watercolour paper online though since they're not sold in stores anywhere where I live in. XD Haha
Another paper alternative I've found is the backside of Letraset markerpad papers, they do not warp like the W&N do. It's super thin tho but I use that as a feature to add textures and effects by placing the paper on different surfaces. =) Yupo or Lana paper is simply too expensive here, I'm guessing because it's imported, I could get almost 7 markers for the price of 5 sheets of polymer paper. 0_o
The only two I've tried that worked right were the flimsy winsor and newton pigment marker paper and yupo. I have to order yupo online myself. None of the art stores in my area carry it.
I don't really have one. I've never enjoyed working with any markers in the past. The only thing I've used the pit markers for were on outlines (which they did beautifully).
im so frustrated. my entire body of work has been made with the alcohol based windsor newton pro markers. my whole workflow and style requires me having *very* evenly drying greyscale markers, and now it seems theres no such product that suits my needs and is still achohol based. plus now i cant sell any of the work ive spent the last 5 years creating. I spent like 6 months on a 24x36 that i had hoped would become a series i could show in a gallery. but now i gotta start from scratch.
Lisa, I heard for Harry over on @The Art Gear Guide that these are going out of commission and will no longer be produced. So buy what you think you’ll need for the next 10 years now, lol.
Lachri's work is awesome, and I suppose the most true to life I have seen on YT. But as for blending the pigment markers with your finger tips, watch out folks. Does anyone know what kinds of chemicals may be absorbed into your body?
@@Lachri Thank you for replying.Maybe that is true, but the definition of toxic can be fuzzy and vary. I will contact Winsor and Newton and ask about the ingredients.
@@Lachri P.S. I don't mean to be argumentative. I'd just hate to see you, or any of us, absorbing things into our system which may not be best for us, and tend to be kinda paranoid, maybe, about industrial products. I sure learn from your channel, though. Such gorgeous and amazing work. :-)
Miguel Ticas No- as far as I'm aware no "traditional" alcohol based markers aren't guaranteed to be lightfast. Ratings are dependent on the colour- some colours are bound to be more lightfast than others (greys, black, browns will most likely be more lightfast than reds and pinks). I'm not sure if lightfastness ratings can be found but it might be worth having a check on the copic website or search for somebody who has done testing on them.
I think they're not. "Copics (and similar illustration markers) are dye based, and dyes are capable of much more intense color than pigment, but the trade-off is that they’re fugitive, they will fade - within a few years if they get too much sun. Art created with them is meant to be copied and reproduced, not archival."
So these markers are better than the prismacolor markers. According to this video they're easier to use. I had to use alcohol with a paint brush to blend with prismacolor markers. I'm definitely looking forward to using these.
I wonder if there is a point at which these are cured. I think they are awesome but I would be the person that messed up my piece while framing it etc.
Hey Lisa im not 100 % sure but i think that Yupo is made from stone and resin. That paper will change in to dust after just few years the resin will dissolve in contact with air and dissapear. Please Lisa chect that for your own good.
Your talent knows no bounds. I love how fearless you are at trying new media. You inspire me with your enthusiasm. Thank you.
your art is so beautiful and you are so knowledgeable and smart and giving. thank you so much for sharing.
Wow! That tiger looks like a photograph! I got some of these markers on clearance at Hobby Lobby recently and just tested them today. You can blend them if you gesso your paper too!
Interesting, I've not tried that yet! I got a bunch on clearance at hobby lobby a few months back too :D
I love your art work and all your videos have helped me with my art. I just started doing art again after 15 years to help me with my depression, I have a long way to go to be half as good as you. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge and talents with your viewer's. You are amazing!!!

You are better now? :D I would like updates ^^

absolutely beautiful, I've never seen anyone do this with markers
Thanks! These things are pretty awesome. I've never been able to do anything like this with other types of markers :D
there are people who can get a higher level of realism than this with alcohol markers... then you see me :(
Another amazing video - great review on these markers and thanks, Lisa. Question: Would you recommend spraying the finished pieces with matte spray of some sort, just to make sure no water hits/damages it?
the whole time I was thinking that you had an open market laying on the cover. Had a small heart attack when you flipped the cover 😂😂😂😂
HA!
Me too
I love tigers and big cats, its nice that you do so many of them with different mediums.
Great video Lisa! 😆 I hope you are having a fabulous trip.
Hello Lisa.
A grateful fan. Admirer of your work.
Thanks for your knowledgeable art info...great job.
yeah this is so exciting! cant wait to see more with this medium
Me too! I bought a bunch of other colors this weekend while on vacation. I can't wait to get home and draw an ocean scene :D
Omg i neeeeed these markers!! Thanks Lisa for such a great video!💚💚💚
I'm in love. These are exactly what I have been looking for.
if only the had a sealing spray and were refillable. Then they would be perfect.
thanks for this video and the others. I'm learning a lot.
You are just amazing. Love your work. P.s love the orchid plant 😉
What about spraying the finished pieces with a spray fixative (for pencils and markers) and a spray varnish to protect against accidental surface damage (water or scratches)
I love Elf make up brushes for their intended purpose and you found a way to use them for art. Color me impressed ( pun intended ).
You convinced me to buy some of these markers, great vid thank you
beautiful drawing, you're talented
Beautiful Tiger Lisa! But in my case, I'm afraid to use this marker, because of the mess when you start the ilustration, and blend with the blender marker, and having to use other materials for blending...I don't know, I think I'm going to be desperate and crazy when I see this mess, and I don't know how to fix it 😂 but is good to see other alternatives like this markers, it looks so great!
i use them over my acyrlics with the blender. I finally got the results I have tried to get for feathers and fur
How or what do you use to seal a finished painting with to keep it from being able t be reactivated?
Those markers look appealing... guess I'll have to try them on a thin canvas... treated with gesso first?
They only work on this specific paper. They won't behave right on a canvas even with gesso.
Lol did anyone else think that picture of the marker was a real marker sitting on the paper? I need to wake up 😂
Me to.
Hello great video really helpful thanks.
Apart from YUPO paper can you recommend another? It’s VERY expensive! Just 10 sheets costs £30.
Thanks again ❤️
I've tried these markers... and boy, do I need to work with them ^^'' Tricky to work with x3
Yeah, they take a bit to get used to. I'm really looking forward to seeing how much more I can do with them in the future!
I've got a question? When these markers dry are they permanent? I don't recall u mentioning that. Btw I love your art & your videos. Thank you so much for posting. I hope u have a wonderful day!! 😊
They are lightfast but not permanent. If you get them wet they will lift from that paper. The work will need to be framed.
quick question, should i varnish??? i want to enhance the contrast of my work, make it more brighter. i am using the same medium.
Amazing video. Would these work well on canvas shoes??
Could you use the air brush to lighten some of this up after it dries?
Have you tried styrene sheets or stone paper? i've found they really take wetness well even if watercolor and such doesn't really work on them (like the yupo paper). Do you think if the w&n paper is mounted on a sturdier surface before, i'd work better or just warp even worse.
I'm trying to find alternatives since i can't get yupo where i'm from :)
also do they smudge like dry media when you run your hand over them? like a sweaty side of the hand while working
Can you substitute ANY watercolor paper or just the YUPO?
I am surprised you haven't tried the faber castell pitt markers. Especially since you seem to like a lot of their products. They are light fast and don't bleed much- at least that is what they advertise. Im hoping to get a 60 piece set for Christmas this year.
They don't blend like this. I don't like working with other markers :)
Great video, thanks. Have you tried these markers on primed canvas? I've read that it is a really nice surface for these for blending and is good for lightfastness so you'd be able to sell originals... Just wondering if you've had experience with this and can confirm as I'm currently still testing this possibility. Thanks
I notice you’re using a paintbrush as well! Did you wet the brush and actually paint with it?
Another question - where do you recommend buying the Yupo paper - thanks, Lisa!
Can I use these markers on Strathmore Bristol paper?
Can you use them on top of your acrylic on canvas painting?
I have bought several of these but more because the Winsor & Newton markers had more variety in colours than Copics but it wasn't until recently that I realized that they work best on their marker paper. Watching this helped me a lot and is getting me interested in actually going to use these on the right kind of paper. I probably would have to buy the Yupo watercolour paper online though since they're not sold in stores anywhere where I live in. XD Haha
hi did you try them on photo paper I tried today not bad let me know what you think
This is incredible
Tbh I've just fallen in love with Winsor and Newton's brand
I love so many of their products too!
If you have some acetate, scribble the markers in there then mix with a brush to get more colours Awesome work as always.
Another paper alternative I've found is the backside of Letraset markerpad papers, they do not warp like the W&N do. It's super thin tho but I use that as a feature to add textures and effects by placing the paper on different surfaces. =)
Yupo or Lana paper is simply too expensive here, I'm guessing because it's imported, I could get almost 7 markers for the price of 5 sheets of polymer paper. 0_o
that looks like fun!
That's beautiful!!!!
the yupo paper is very hard to find here. can you recommend something else?
The only two I've tried that worked right were the flimsy winsor and newton pigment marker paper and yupo. I have to order yupo online myself. None of the art stores in my area carry it.
what is your opinion about the Faber Castell pritt markers?
I don't really have one. I've never enjoyed working with any markers in the past. The only thing I've used the pit markers for were on outlines (which they did beautifully).
Too many art supplies, not enough time or money. Oh well....
haha
kitsune_xiii I'm young soooo I can get prismas and copics without being broke 😈🤷🏻♂️
Amazing work 😍😍😍
Thanks :D
Ok I'm convinced I'll save my money and buy the basic set :)
They are a lot of fun!
im so frustrated. my entire body of work has been made with the alcohol based windsor newton pro markers. my whole workflow and style requires me having *very* evenly drying greyscale markers, and now it seems theres no such product that suits my needs and is still achohol based. plus now i cant sell any of the work ive spent the last 5 years creating. will u ever do water color?? at least try it for us
will you do a review on copic markers
Probably not, I'm generally not a fan of working in markers. So far these are the only ones I really enjoyed :)
I wonder if Either a pencil blender, or a Silicone brush would be better to blend these with then you’re finger .
Pawesome! Great vids!
Loved the live stream!
Thanks :)
Since using yupo might be more cost effective to use alcohol inks for background. Blender is just 91% alcohol
Lisa, I heard for Harry over on @The Art Gear Guide that these are going out of commission and will no longer be produced. So buy what you think you’ll need for the next 10 years now, lol.
Are these acrylic paint pens???
No, they are an alcohol based marker.
do you think i can use this paper also for pencils? cause i think of doing blurry backgrounds with the markers and the main subject with pencils...
A lot of people do. I've not tried it yet myself though. I need to :)
you may find mineral paper working well.. less expensive than yupo paper..
Thanks :)
Sooo beautyfull,great Job :-)
Hey It's so amezing MARKER!
Thanks :)
you should do a portrait I would see you doing skin tones
I will once I get more practice :D
Lachri Fine Art I can't wait
Inspiration as when I'm older I may excel in trying to do better art and maybe buy them
Me encantan tus trabajos ... Eres realmente muy buena en lo que haces... Te felicito.

Nope, they will always be able to lift with water on this type of paper.
If you find a way to keep them stuck on the paper forever, please let me know! Like a spray or some fixative that artists use?
hey there selling me the Winsor&Newton markers pigment 12 set for $60 is that a good Deal? let me know asap cool & Thanx for sharing your info & vid
Great markers im in love drooling saving money xD
So good
Tüm markerlar içinde promarker ve pigment marker copic markeri dahi sonda bırakır
Watercolor pencil art and any kind of watersoluble crayon art faces the same likliehood of being damaged if not fixed and varnished.
the circles in background are called bokeh
Hey Lisa im not 100 % sure but i think that Yupo is made from stone and resin. That paper will change in to dust after just few years the resin will dissolve in contact with air and dissapear. Please Lisa chect that for your own good.
It is made from polypropylene. According to their website it is archival. I would not expose it to heat or direct sunlight for sure though.
hi. I like your videos
Holy cow!
hi
hi :)
OMG 3rd! This is closest I've ever been! Notice me! NOTICE ME!
lol
Omg you answered. Life is complete.
zombie tiger fur hahahaha😂
:D
kinda looks like bubbles XD
Wtf mine are water based
S!ns ?? You probably have the water color markers.
