Liam McPaul basically, he rushed technology really early on by building lots of the research labs and going for the +20% research options in the tech tree, so that he quickly got the tech from late game, like battleships and the like. This allowed him to start researching the repeatable bonuses early on, and so he ended up getting really OP weaponry, and the economy basically builds itself when you get to that point, as you have all of the economic research done, and megastructures as well, which are just brilliant.

I knew it! The moment that news feed about 25x crisis came, I knew it was going to be Lathland that's going to have a playthrough on it first. Im subscribing.
Oh wow, you tackled this in a very unexpected way, no wonder it took you so long! I'd never considered that the Scion start, as powerhouse as it is, DOES mean that'll drag you into the War In Heaven even if you're trying to hunker down and isolate. I think that really hindered your ability to focus on, yaknow, prepping! Spent a lot of time suddenly sprawling out and fighting, rather than what I guessed you'd do, and focus on making your entire empire a long-war survivalistic fortress. But hey, that'd also be WAY less interesting, eh? You contained them very well even without that, too. Bravo!
I feel like it became a massive advantage. Scion gets an early 5k fleet which dissuades aggression, allowing a massive focus on research and growth instead of defenses. By the time the war in heaven started, he was ready for war... and even though he was a pacifist, the war in heaven cassus belli let him go ham on the galaxy.

"best start i ever had" I can one up that where in a tall playthrough I immediately found the surveyor in the 3rd system I explored, had the irassians as precursors, the ratling relic world and 4 more decent worlds almost all in my core sector, L-Gate, and all that with ringworld start. needless to say the outteching was quick with those two relic worlds Edit: forgot to mention, only 2 choke points as well
Oh wow. Yea this kicks my Irassians start by a long shot, I had Approximately 2 at first but expanded to 4 by the time I found everything I wanted. Almost got the Great Wound and Elder monster too, but the Fanatic Purifiers to my north bulrushes the system near where I wanted to set up shop, so I had to pull back and call it. Meternex to the North West, Micralx to the south West, and Juvians to my direct West. The Meternex proceed to take my good start, and raise it by crushing the Purifiers. Problem is, I’m still learning templates, how to build a Navy, and was fortifying my choke points. I had thought, “Hey now I can relax, humanity is safe, Im half way to terraforming tec, and I’ve got two Generator worlds and a mining world. Tech world is growing; this will be great!” Aaaaand then they declare war. My puny little 8K fleet chokes in awe at the size of this man; I shit you not they had Arc Emitters on their battleships before I was anywhere close to researching it. It’s a 50 year slug fest. They never go for the kill shot, and i’m too busy slowly pulling together a resistance. I finally get them into a tough spot, ‘one’ of their fleets at this point, just around 30K, winds up cutting my trade lane’s asunder. But it’s traveling alone, and my 2 fleets, 16.6 and 18.3 race to catch it. By now I’ve had the chance to actually steal several engagements worth of Tech, Jump drives, better armor and shields, better guns; I have a chance. I jump one of my fleets ahead, whilst the other tails and stalls them for time. I win my first major engagement through a Pyrrhic Victory. I lost Half my forces and crippled one fleet. But I restored my trade lanes, and had effectively forced them out of my system. They’d only get to take two systems, and only one was a choke point. I’m now roughly...50 years from then, it’s the second war, and they were winning again. They had a bloody 56K fleet Mine are 30 and 18 respectively because i’m STILL recovering. And their economy is bullshit. So I cut them in half, pandamonium ensues as I hit and run them into a disorganized mess. (They have 2 other fleets, a 30 and 29K fleet, both I can kill but I need time). I’m almost equal technologically, and it all starts to pay off. I’m currently down to having to only fight Two 30K fleets and I have most all of my claimed systems. I just need time to kick them down and I’ll have won a hell of a comeback through status quo. It is, however, exhausting. I don’t know how, but i’ve kept the Galactic market since it’s inception, and am now the 3rd strongest power in the galaxy. (The Meternex and like 1 or 2 others have me beat). And I have Megastructures on the way...ooooh they shall know fear and pain once I’m through. I’ve got a world cracker and Titan in the works (Need more Alloys and Money!)...oooh they shall fear me.

It triggered me so hard when you chose 500 minerals over + 10% sublight speed FOR THE ENTIRE GAME. Its the "Adrift" anomaly, in case you are wondering.
Nah everybody get this brain slugs. There’s no point not too. If you want normal pop growth the just let your base pop grow will have a portion brain slugs. Usually i send brain slug people to colonize then my base pop will grow on the world
The space zombies execute your leader Your economy crashes Your people suffer a famine The neighbouring hive mind invades What would you do in this scenario?
I’d slowly claw my way back, like I always have, like I always will. Humanity, grips the reigns of destiny and punch slowly. First we rebuild the economy, then we get the Famine under control with a new agri world or refocus on other worlds...it will take time. Hive mind is...well it’s going to be a while. Slowly clip their wings in hit and run engagements, look to do what has been done to you, to others. Cripple their trade lanes with raids, jump in and out of their systems once you achieve jump drive tech (most likely salvaged from said Hive Mind) and play extremely defensive. The Space Zombies get the last retribution. After the economy is balanced, the famine is quelled, and the Hivemind is stripped of their existence as a Galactic power...then you deal with them. They get to face the full brunt of your now rebuffed force, world cracker, Titan, Battleship fleets and the works. They shall know wrath. For Humanity Repays in Kind.

holy crap lathrix, 50 HOURS!?! you deserve so many more subs lol, you spoil us!! here's a thumbs up your way, (I'll even log in to my alt account to like the vid lol)
This is hands down your most enjoyable playthrough to watch Lath. I'm not even kidding. I watched the entire thing without losing interest. That's a first for me. The slugs can be brutal on pop growth, but in my experience they pay off in the long run because you can negate the growth penalty with either robots, immigration, pop growth tech (genetic ascension path anyone?) or a combination of all three. I mean seriously, 20% research from Intellectual governers and 10% bonus unity? If your prepping for the crisis there literally couldn't be a better event you could have gotten. I had a think about using Lithoids as livestock for minerals. Imagine for a moment that humanity was enslaved by aliens who used us like cattle. Except instead of eating us they would slaughter us like animals and use our bodies as organic matter to create bio-ships. That's what lithoids feel like when you use them as minerals to feed your forges which make your ships...slightly horrifying. Arcology Project + Ring World = Eucumenopolis Ring World. So yes, Arcology project is the better choice. Nothing beats having 4 ring sections of 100's of Metallurgists. While ignoring shields is great, you could also have used the Null Void beams as they just eat shields alive for breakfast. Not ideal perhaps, but I know I'm going to test them out on the Unbidden next playthrough and compare results. One reason to go Null Void + Plasma artillery is so that you can spam the Energy weapon damage repeatables. If you get the Unbidden, Null Void + Artillery will do just as well as missiles and Arc weapons, whereas if you get the Scourge, energy just eats them alive so your repeatables aren't useless regardless. If you get the Contingency you have the best of both worlds now, because you have anti-shield energy weapons and really powerful anti-armor energy weapons. Its the ultimate strategy for hedging your bets imo, thought maybe it doesn't matter much when the crisis is in 25X difficulty... I like how you went from being Xenophobic Isolationists to full-blown Imperium of Man conquering the galaxy. True quality content.
@@jessebrown5247 I'm fairly sure you can only do it as a part of the Gigastructural Engineering mod. But that mod is a permanent addition to many people's games (for good reason) so it's easy to think its vanilla.

Logical Stellaris Player: Going down a lore route would cause failure.

@@anonymousapproximation8549 Ha, Xenophobe Egalitarians are kinda weird in their way for handling slaving in a very 'Animal Farm' way. But being dragged into the War In Heaven sort of did prevent all the prepping! Still, way more interesting lore-wise than what I expected them to use to tackle this challenge strength.
@@tomisabum Xenophobes hate aliens, except the preppers were *uplifted* so why are they Xenophobic when their experience with aliens is entirely positive?

Me: lathland hasn't posted in a while means a 2h+ video is coming *happy noises*
Hats off to you sir. I struggle to finish playthroughs at a fraction that difficulty. I learned alot from watching your crazy playthroughs

This playthrough more than anything else is a perfect example of how current Fallen Empires are the most likely responsible for the Endgame Crisis that plagues future civs.
"best start i ever had" I can one up that where in a tall playthrough I immediately found the surveyor in the 3rd system I explored, had the irassians as precursors, the ratling relic world and 4 more decent worlds almost all in my core sector, L-Gate, and all that with ringworld start. needless to say the outteching was quick with those two relic worlds
Edit: forgot to mention, only 2 choke points as well
Tech world is growing; this will be great!”
Aaaaand then they declare war.

Since lathrix doesn't have a discord server we have decided to make one so his community has a place to come together, share art and express opinions about current series. It is a new server however it already has quite a large following; the more people the more of a chance lathrix will see it.
Note: This is NOT an official server, Lathrix has acknowledged our existence and will hopefully join once he has less going on.

The space zombies execute your leader
Your economy crashes
Your people suffer a famine
The neighbouring hive mind invades
What would you do in this scenario?
