great job!!!!i thumbed it, but mine has ne w belt and still the rollers are SLOW to engage and spin!!!! please help, or should i return it to warranty? unless its a eze fix thank you!
Video was exactly what I needed to fix my vacuum. Thanks!
What could be other than a bad belt when the part that makes the belt move, hence the roller brush spin, is not turning or moving?
In my case: there was a brush on brush off button near the power switch that had gotten accidentally toggled that I didn't even realize was there. Hitting the button got the roller spinning again.
I replaced my belt but there is no tension on the belt at all. I was wondering if there is a piece that may have fallen off the shaft.
Did you figure out what was wrong? Same problem. New belts too...same issue. Thank you.
I wrapped tape around the brush roll under the belt. That tightened it and now it works with the same belt.
Ingenious!!! Thank you! worked like a charm!
It works! Thank you!
Excellent! I followed your video and found that the belt in my Hoover had broken
2nd hand UH70210 had the brush stop spinning. As the brush was not jammed I figured it was the belt. Replaced belt, still no spin. Brush still moves freely, if I set the vacuum cleaner upright and tilt forward, the belt seems to engage. it seems the tension is lacking on the belt - any suggestions on how to increase tension on the belt?
I'm in the same spot. Replaced the belt but it still won't spin. Did you find a solution? Thanks
My brush wasn't spinning bc the belt was broken. Thank you for the help!!
And what do you do when replace the belt and the roller still won't turn?
Pull the caps off the sides of the roller brush and see if you can free the bearings and clean everything out. If they are frozen and can’t be saved replace the brush roll. If that’s not it. It may be the tensioner on the foot pedal for the belt. Check that roller and see if it’s locked up.
Thanks from the UK - good job.
THANKS, HANK!
Now I can "git'er done" and have my wife stop scolding me!
I changed out the belt with the Hoover replacement. It went in real tight and burned off in minutes. I replaced again same results. What am i doing wrong?
Need to clean the motor shaft. Likely had burned up rubber on it which will destroy a new belt.
It's clean. Machine had about 3 hours on it when it lost the belt.

This was exactly what it was! Thanks!!
New belt doing same thing
For my vaccum the motor for the brush roll was not even moving 😢
So when vacuuming carpet, should that brushroll pedal be up?
You want the brush turned on and spinning for carpet, shut it off on hard floor
@@hanksgarage_ Good evening! & No i mean that little pedal that you step on, to be pushed in or released up. Should it be up on down?
@@klp605 The little square pedal on the back needs to be pressed so the handle is tilted back, otherwise the tensioner won't engage with the belt. I assume the reason is to not overly stretch out the belt if the vacuum isn't in operation using the beater bar/is off. You will notice when you put the handle back into the upright position that the tension lever on the front relaxes a bit, similar to when you have it in hard floor mode.
@@aoitamashii This was my problem too. I was going to vacuum the stairs and I thought I broke something when only the brush turned off. After I read your comment I tried it with the handle down at an angle, and worked as usual. I didn't know this was a built in feature to shut it off when the handle was in the upright position.
Thanks
I had a problem where the drum would not move. The belt was intact. I solved it by tilting the vacuum like normal use and pressing the brush roll button.
How do you repair the brush switch that engages the brush? I have to lift the switch with force to get the brush engage...when I let go it stops.
buy one from amazon
The belt on my swivel came right off the motor, so I reattached it and the rubber started smoking and the swivel didn’t move.
Thank you for the help!!
even though it seems to have lots of torque my beater bar stalls out completely on carpet causing the motor to overheat & the thermal protection kicks in & shuts it down for 30 min. I guess this is worth a try before I give it to goodwill. Thx
Sounds like the end caps may need to be cleaned on the brush roll
Thanks, fixed my belt noise with this video.
Where do u buy belt?
Ebay is best
Beautiful! Saved me $$$$$$ many thanks
Great to hear!
I have the windtunnel Max with about 20 screws to take out. As an engineer I NEVER designes something like that. I had standards.
